Savoy

"This local institution’s refurbishment has restored much of its original charm and its 8th floor setting boasts superb views over Esplanade Park. Sophisticated classic dishes have a Finnish-French slant and a modern edge, with the occasional Russian touch. The wine matches are first class." - Michelin Inspector

The 18 Best Restaurants in Helsinki - Eater

"Restaurant Savoy is a Finnish dining institution if there ever was one. For more than 80 years, heads of state and hungry locals alike have admired Savoy’s view over the Esplanadi park. Modern tasting menus change with the seasons, but for an authentic Finnish experience, try the vorschmack, a tasty but unusual mix of minced lamb, herring, and loads of garlic; served with baked potato, a big dollop of sour cream, and pickles, it was the favorite dish of Baron Mannerheim, the marshal of Finland, who was a regular at Savoy and is said to have given the recipe to the restaurant himself. A beautiful restaurant. The menu was very attractive and the food was delicious and the portions were just perfect. The wine list is exhaustive and although a bit expensive it was comparable with other restaurants in Helsinki but worth it. Great advice from the sommelier. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. A wonderful experience in a historic setting

Spot the right door from the street level and elevator will take you to top floor. Plenty of classic Finnish design. Very good natural friendly professional service. All dishes were tasty. Plenty of extra surprise complimentary portions frim the kitchen. Fine dinning quality.

An unforgettable culinary experience Our visit to Savoy was an absolute highlight. From the first greeting to the last bite, every moment was perfectly thought out. The cuisine impressed with an exceptional balance of creativity and precision. The lobster deserves special mention, with its sophisticated composition of flavors. The wine accompaniment was excellently matched and emphasized the complexity of the dishes. The service was impeccable - professional, attentive and cordial without being intrusive. The atmosphere of the restaurant exudes elegance and tranquillity, which rounded off the overall experience perfectly. Savoy is a must for foodies and a real addition to Helsinki's culinary scene. We look forward to our next visit!

It is one of the most popular fine dining restaurants in Helsinki. I visited on a Friday for dinner, the place was almost full. So, I strongly recommend those who plan to visit shall make a reservation in advance. The high standard yet friendly service topped in my ratings. The atmosphere was also great, The pianist played soft songs that blended well with the ambiance. And, most importantly, the sound level was just right. The food tasted great with enhancing, artistic, yet practical presentation. The price point in Savoy is extremely friendly for a Michelin star rated fine dining restaurant. And as the price index here in the Nordic is high, this makes the price here even higher value for money.

The food and atmosphere are great. The live and soft music is a great add-on. Unfortunately one of the waitress, not noticing our reaction, uses the local language, Finnish, rather than English to explain the dish. Until we mention her to speak English, then she switches to English and continues her dish explanation. There also seems to be a miss of serving before the main dish. The gap between the second and third course is more than half an hour, while the gap between other dishes is much shorter. Another indication of the miss serving is the refreshing sorbet, which is served twice. What a pity. Additional note. After we raise our concerns, we do receive a nice compensation. In fact, the compensation is a bit overwhelmed. Many thanks and much appreciated.

I had a great time at this place on my first night at Helsinki Finland back on Thursday September 19th. The food was amazing and I loved how it was presented. I even enjoyed the view of the Sunset.

•Food 10/10 Excellent food, to my suprise the portions were quite large, specially for the Elk Wellington, amazing food ❤️ •Wines 10/10 Gorgeous wines for every price range, they also have a Sommelier on site who'll surely recommend which wine goes with what for if you're new to wines. •Service 10/10 They will treat you like Royalty, extremely professional and knowledgeable staff. •Location 10/10 The restaurant is on the 8th floor, you'll have a sky view of Boulevard Park which is especially charming during winter season when the christmas lights are put on annually.

Yelp
What a disappointment. It started from the aperitif with ice cubes in my Noilly Prat, that's a faux-pas. I took the 2 "famous" specialities of the restaurant: the "vorshmack" (herring mashed with minced meat... and that was "interesting mix" but not tasty) and the duck "à la Savoy" that was a game duck, quite dry, stringy and with a faint taste of seaweed. It was not bad, but it was not good either: it was average without surprise or creativity. The best dish was the complimentary "amuse bouche". So at least there was a St-Julien 2eme Cru (at a ridiculous price like all the wine list)... So I thought but... the waiter came back that they did not have it. Wine list not updated. Great. Service and the table presentation was pretending without the correct etiquette. Interior outdated. The best was the view in fact.

Yelp
Savoy is THE restaurant institution in Helsinki. Beautifully set on the roof tops of the city. Immaculate food experience that is always in season. Extensive wine list and lot's of educated opinions about the selection. Beautifully professional service at the highest level. Gorgeous Finnish design everywhere. Serious attitude about the clients and their needs. And still it manages to be somehow cosy. They also have a little garden on the roof top with bees and all. Savoy has its roots firmly in the history of the Finnish art and culture scene. Even now some of the most interesting events in the Finnish culture world happen here. This is the place for the power-business-lunch and here culture and business people meet each other over high pace lunch or more quiet drink. It is well suited for drama, but also for the late night dinners that are best kept in the shadows

Yelp
The Savoy is a lovely restaurant. As mentioned, it is high above the city with a great view. The service is the best. You feel very well cared for. The food is delicious and plated well. We had a cocktail on the terrace before dinner and it was a great way to start the evening. Go ! It's worth it.
