Cenador de Amós

"Discover the secrets hidden in the Casa-Palacio Mazarrasa (1756), a thrilling mecca for foodies that certainly makes an impression! The culinary experience begins with welcome drinks and appetisers in the glass-paned pavilion or on the terrace, and culminates in elegant dining spaces with a rustic yet modern feel. Always sporting his trademark cap, chef Jesús Sánchez runs the restaurant with the invaluable support of wife Marián Martínez, who is charge of the front of house. He remains consistently loyal to local ingredients, seasonality and to a firm commitment to sustainability via his “30 Temporada” menu, which is a heartfelt tribute to his natural surroundings, his Cantabrian identity and its history, and all the painstaking research that has gone into every bite. The sourdough bread baked on the premises always receives fulsome praise!" - Michelin Inspector

MICHELIN Guide Spain & Portugal 2020 Selection

"TheCenador de Amós, a charming mansion-palace lying in the Catabrian village of Villaverde de Pontones, has deservedly reached the three-star distinction. MICHELIN inspectors have declared that chef Jesús Sánchez has achieved the maximum honor for “his tireless search of emotion,” compelling the guest to gradually discover his proposal, so to enhance even more the different spaces of the venue and all those details that leave a mark in a culinary experience. They raise this restaurant to the category of gastronomic temple and especially emphasize its respect to Cantabrian flavors, making them recognizable and fully expressed in every dish." - The MICHELIN Guide

I simply cannot praise this place enough. Third 3 star we went to, certainly the best of the three. Cenador de Amós is without any weakness. Wonderful ambience and privacy, outstanding friendly (but genuinely friendly, not robot-like) service, some beautiful surprises ... and simply breathtaking food. According to Michelin rules, 3 stars means "worth a specific trip"; I enthusiastically second this opinion.

I guess it is difficult to find something wrong with a 3 Michelin stars restaurant, yet I give it a 4. Please don't take it wrong: everything was excellent, I can not thing of anything not netting the highest standards. Since the very second you park the car at such majestuous old house you feel quality and good taste surrounding you. Service meets the bar for such kind of place: they take care of you through all the experience. We took the "traditional" menu called "Evoca": just gorgeous end2end. No wine tasting this time but we followed the suggestion from the sommelier and it was just perfect (an albariño Attis Embaixador). It is a journey through vegetables, fish Illustration: Evoca menu with good wine for 222€ Labels:$$$$, 2Eat, #tradition, #michelinstar, #terrace, #mustGo

There are no excessive superlatives that exaggerate the quality of the impact of the food, service, and atmosphere of this unreal experience in dining. Right from the reconstructed tortilla, and, seemingly, the entire cantabrian ocean of delights served in what appeared to be a crispy play on temaki rolls, I knew I was in for a culinary experience like no other. The meal takes you through what is typical in Spain, but served to you in snippets, bites and light broths that belie their original form, while still delivering amply on flavour. I was served a cocido broth that made me stop and remember my grandparents and their patience and kindness with me growing up. I had a liquified ensalada mixta that had me reaching for my cleverly selected Albariño as though I was on the shores of El Sardinero. I could go on and on. Sometimes you will eat at these places and leave and need some tapas down the road because you are still hungry. I left and didn’t eat anything else all day because I was so full, but also because I still wanted to remember these flavours. What an impact. Service friendly, professional, efficient, precise… it goes without saying but it is worth mentioning because of their kindness and their expertise. Chef came out to the tables and greeted, and was happy to discuss food and life. It is expensive, of course. But you can have ten meals in the worst of places and never feel fulfilled. Save up your money and put it here. You won’t be disappointed. Truly memorable and worth their reputation.

Very nice restaurant. Location is absolutely stunning. One of the highlights definitely is the course with their take on the traditional “tapas”. Winepairings were surprising in a positive way. Service was excellent, what you can expect at this level. The chef also walked by several times to make sure all guests are having a great time and of course enjoy the food.

Google
Wonderful concept that combines cutting edge techniques with amazing local ingredients. On the negative side, the Front of the House doesn't match the Back of the House. In our case, service was a bit sloppy with one plate-ruining moment: they served a plate that included a crispy element and asked us to wait as they need to finish it with a broth. We waited, we waited... and then the waiter realised we were waiting for him and came with the broth. The plate was not crispy anymore and I can only imagine how frustratring that has to be for a chef

The beautiful setting for the restaurant complements the amazing food and wonderful team at Cenador de Amos. Chef Jesus, Andreas and his team could not have been more welcoming and are as much a part of our experience as the meal itself. highly recommended.
