My brother and I tried rice n bread and I will say it was a different experience. The food seemed to be all over the board. The quality was good but it seemed that it didn’t have an identity. The service was okay seemed inconsistent. Our server didnt check in much. The atmosphere was really nice. We like all the pictures on the walls.

Absolutely lovely and friendly staff. This was my first time dining in, as I have always done takeout! I would enjoy coming back to sit inside this cozy restaurant. We ordered the beef bulgogi, buldak and pa-jeon. The bulgogi came with a refreshing side of pickled pear, jalapeño and cucumber and Kim chi. The pa-jeon was crispy and flavorful, with shrimp and octopus that was absolutely fresh and delicious. It came sort of broken up and perfect for dipping in the sauce. The fried chicken (I’ve had both the buldak and dandak) are very solid menu choices that anyone would be thrilled with and come with rice and a little side of cabbage. Great flavor and sauce, the chicken is moist on the inside and has never been dried out. The beef bulgogi also had great flavor and came with rice. Really enjoyable and cozy dish that anyone would like! Again staff were friendly and attentive. Great for a quick bite, absolutely perfect takeout and well priced for the amount of food! We ended up taking our leftovers to go, and in all for 2 people spent about $50 for what is going to turn into 2 meals. Great spot!

Got the beef soondubu because I was missing home/Korean food. I was intrigued by the concept of the restaurant, but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food! The soondubu had a deep rich beef flavor that warmed my soul on this cold day. The waitress was very nice, telling me to let her know if I ever needed more kimchi or water or anything of the sort. I would definitely come again to try of their other stuff! The total came out to around $15.50 after tax

Excellent food. I had the Bul Dak. Similar to a general tso for others who might not know what to get. Absolutely delicious! I love to eat and didn't even finish the whole thing! Definitely going back to try the famous Galbi burger!

Quick and comforting Korean food with very friendly service. We stopped by for lunch and found the meal generally enjoyable—the crispy tofu was well-seasoned and had a refreshing garlicky taste, and both the Tteokbokki and the Squid Bibimbap were flavorful with a spicy kick.

Look to your right and you will see the many faces of those community plastered on the wall. It’s all love and hope. I had delicious rice with sauce. I would recommend it. Came here in between a Cubs’ doubleheader to get a little bite to eat. My goodness I got a bang for my buck! And it was delicious. The lady was soo nice too! Will definitely be back!

This small Korean/Japanese restaurant is a hidden gem, perfect for a meal before a baseball game. We started with the Crispy Tofu, which was fried to a golden brown perfection and topped with green onion and chopped fried garlic in a delicious soy sauce. The R&B Burger with Kimchi was a standout, featuring a marinated beef and pork patty with melted Swiss cheese on a pretzel bun, served with fresh tomato and lettuce. The flavors were exceptional and perfectly balanced. The Yangyum Fried Chicken was another highlight, offering original Korean-style fried chicken with a sweet and mild sauce, served with a bowl of rice and veggies. Every bite was delightful and satisfying. The ambience was great, marked by good service and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I've visited Rice'N Bread a couple of times now, and it's a cozy spot for Korean food. So far I've tried the Bibimbap, Dandak,Yang Nyum Chicken, and Pork over rice. All the dishes were delicious, but my favorite was definitely the Yang Nyum Chicken. The crispy chicken paired with the flavorful sauce really stood out. The portions are generous too and always leave me feeling full. The Pork over rice would be my second favorite, though I'm slightly picky when it comes to sauces. It was covered in two sauces that I'd personally prefer to be on the side so I can control how much I use. That said, it was still very tasty. The staff is always friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It's a smaller venue in Lakeview, which adds to the cozy dining experience. Safe to say, I'll be back to try more items from the menu!

Rice 'N Bread is pretty terrible. The name is suitable, though, since the food is so bland that it might as well be (flavorless) rice and bread. There's nothing particularly interesting about the decor of the restaurant. Feels like a small little 'hole in the wall' kind of place, and the service is exactly what you would expect from that kind of place. We meandered into the restaurante at around 8:00 pm. We were not greeted by the staff and no one seemed care that someone had entered the establishment. After we were seated, the waitress did not ask for our drink order. She was not friendly. She did not explain the menu. Nothing. You can get better service from a fast food joint. We placed our order, and it is certainly a moment that I regret in hindsight. First, the dumplings. Bland. Tastes like they were in the freezer, then flash fried. They have that strange aftertaste that frozen food has. Weirdly pungent, but in the worst possible way. Texturally, the dumplings were also a disaster. The middle is like a golf ball. Have you ever had frozen meatballs? Texturally, that is exactly what these dumplings resembled and, unfortunately, they tasted just as bad. Next, the egg rolls. Again, there's a very unpleasant, pungent taste. I'm not sure what ingredient that is, but it's certainly not found in Korea. When you freeze an egg roll like that, it's going to be very dry. When you then overcook the egg roll, it's going to get even dryer. It was like eating sandpaper. Next, the Bibimbap. These are supposed to be bursting with flavor. Unfortunately, this might have been the worst bibimbap I've ever had. Bland. The egg was overcooked. The rice was overcooked (mushy) and under-seasoned. The beef was also under-seasoned. No pop of flavor. No excitement. It was like eating baby food. Finally, the Korean fried chicken. Disgraceful. Overcooked, dry, crunchy, and under-seasoned. It was quite literally like eating cardboard. Mcdonald's has better chicken than this place. I absolutely detest what they serve at this restaurant.

We decided to come here for dinner. Unfortunately, tonight's experience ended up being not that great. I ordered the tofu bibimbap. I specifically told the waitress to put the beef mandoo on the side. I expected the mandoo to be on a separate plate. When the bowl came I saw the beef mandoo inside the bowl not on a separate plate. I started having an anxiety attack. Question: Who serves beef or any type of meat to a vegetarian? Why do that? For the next 10 minutes the waitress tried to convince me that this bowl was a new order. I told her I can't trust you. The bowl looked the same. I got the feeling that she or the chef took off the two mandoos off and gave me the same bowl. I felt disgusted. I told the waitress I did not want it anymore as I lost my appetite. Joseph ordered his meal. At least he ate a full meal whereas I left hungry. When the bill came, they charged us for the bowl I sent back. The waitresses had no choice but to take off that said meal from the bill. I felt that they wanted to punish us by charging us for the food I did not even eat. Seriously? I found that disturbing.

We came in last week and grabbed some takeout. Takeout was quick and easy and the hostess was very nice. First we got the Bibimbap, which was a fried egg, bulgogi beef, veggies and rice. It had really great flavor and delicious sauce with it, but there was not very much meat. Next we tried the R&B burger with marinated beef & pork, Swiss cheese and a pretzel bun. It was pretty good and a great price at $10, there was an option to add carmelized kimchi which we want to try next time! Finally we had the DanDak Korean style fried chicken which was our favorite!

This is the best Korean food place anywhere close to Wrigley! Perfect for an after-game meal, very affordable for the portion size, and we were sat immediately on a Saturday. I recommend the original Korean fried chicken over the other fried chicken options, but it seems like you can't really go wrong here.

This place is amazing! Everything we had was so flavorful and delicious. We had the soft tofu stew (sundubu jjigae), bibimbap, Korean pancake (pajeon), and the fried chicken. Highly recommend all of these dishes. All the employees here are so friendly. I can't wait to come back and try more things from the menu!

We wanted to grab a quick dinner in Wrigleyville before a concert and stumbled upon Rice'N Bread, and was pleasantly surprised. It is a small restaurant, but almost every table was occupied and a steady of stream of take out orders. The menu is extensive offering Korean and American dishes. We shared the Yang Nyum Chicken and Beef Bulgogi Bawl.....( not misspelled) with an extra side of rice. The portions were huge. The Yang Nyum Chicken was my favorite. The chicken was tender and the sauce was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. The chicken came with rice and a side salad. The dressing on the salad was so good, it was a Yum Yum sauce and we asked for extra for the rice. The Bulgogi Bawl, also was a large portion of rice with tender beef topped with an egg. Service was excellent, the servers were so kind. This was a pleasant surprise and it definately recommend.

The Dandak tasted like chicken nuggets and needed the dumpling dipping sauce for a flavor boost. The Crispy Mandoo (dumplings) was likely from Costco, but it was the best part of the meal, with nice crispy edges. Cost: Pricing was fair for a local spot. Literally a hole in the wall by Wrigley with zero glamour but cheap pricing. not easy to find cheap food by Wrigley Our host/server/busgirl Gia ordered for me. What came out was Buldak. Crispy, boneless, spicy, sweet, dark meat fried chicken with a hint of curry - amazing! It was almost enough to feed two. My best friend/wife got the beef bibimbap it was fine. Both were around $13 you really can't complain. Recommended

Maybe my experience would have been different if I ate in restaurant, but I Doordashed a bibimbap and fried seaweed roll. Delivery was pretty quick, around 30 minutes, however I found the food to be underwhelming. The bibimbap is 90% rice and had maybe 2 tablespoons of beef (which was delicious). Most of the topping were bean sprouts and spinach. I was happy to see a runny egg but the rice also tasted overcooked. The fried seaweed rolls were ok, again, not sure if delivery made them soggy but they didn't taste like much. I might try them again if I eat in restaurant but as my first time trying them through delivery, I'm not super impressed.

Obsessed with the pajeon here. I ordered to go and immediately scarfed it down so I don't have a photo but it's so worth it. Basically, it's a Korean seafood pancake if you haven't had it before, and comes with a sweet soy sauce for dipping. I also got the Korean fried chicken which was delicious too. It was a good amount of food so I had leftovers for the next day. Can't wait to go back!

This place smells so good. The menu is nice and diverse. Mainly Korean fare, then burgers and breakfast with a Korean twist ( Eggs with the bulgogi) I was honestly going right for the Bulgogi but then the waitress brings out an order or Korean Fried Chicken to the the table and it just looked and smelled so good, like some of my fav Korean Fried Chicken places in Honolulu. Oh then they brought some jigae out, on my list for next time. It's quaint with a open kitchen, so you can smell what cooking. So yeah, the buldak KFC was so tasty and spicy but like perfect balance. It made me sweat a bit but did not burn my mouth while retaining distinct flavors. Great Texture, crispy and saucy but the meat inside juicy and tender. Nice portions too. I have enough for lunch! Definitely coming back to try their breakfast and lunch offerings and probably dinner. ... I totally left a draft unpublished. Terrible. Continuing a month later. Still tasty. Got the sweet soy sauce kfc, dandak and the Mrs got tofu Bulgogi. Still tasty.

Friendly, family operation, sending quality Korean favorites your way. Are the portions of meat modestly-sized? Yes. But tasty. Worth a spot on your regular rotation.

RATING: 8.5/10 tried the beef stone bowl bibimbap at the recommendation of the store owner and it blew my mind! Reasonably priced too. Everything was well seasoned and the crispy rice at the bottom was the die for. The service was also incredibly friendly and warm.

I don't know how this place gets a 4.4 average. Some of the food is okay. The chicken they use is solid and the sauces are good. But, the sides, like egg rolls are probably the worst over ever had. I took a bite and threw the rest out. Stomach ache followed for both me and my partner. We got takeout so I can't comment on service and ambiance. I am very unlikely to eat here, again.

In a city of overpriced and overhyped restaurants, Rice 'N Bread is a breath of fresh air. Delicious food, generous portions, amazing service, and it is incredibly affordable. Also, perhaps the best bibimbap I've ever had.

The food was really really good ! The place small so wouldn't recommend groups ,the service was very ok they just took awhile to even acknowledge are table.

Came in after I left a bar nearby..realized I hadn't eaten since lunch. Got fried chicken and rice dish. And some egg rolls. Everything tasted scrumptious! Came out quick..glad I got in before they closed.

There I was, walking a barely a mile or so from Wrigley Field when the can't-miss aroma of Asian cooking caught my nose and attention. I turned around and saw the storefront of this mom-and-pop establishment. And the deal maker? The bibimbap. I rarely have bibimbap -- the last time I ate it was five or six years ago -- and when I do, I leave the eatery satisfied. Granted, I'm going to add Rice'N Bread to the very small list of places that do the revered Korean staple right. The kitchen staff found a way to have the rice, vegetables, beef, and egg join forces together. I added some hot sauce for good measure. Before I knew it, I was scraping the bottom of my bowl. Those who chance upon Rice'N Bread will be treated kindly by a woman I assumed is the owner. That's a rarity for a hole in the wall Korean place.

Awesome food and service! Very fast as well. My wife and I were in town for our first time and this did not disappoint if you are wanting to try some authentic flavors (my picky eater wife even enjoyed it LOL) Our server was very friendly and was very personable.

I've had bibimbap at multiple places around Chicago and the tofu bibimbap at rice n bread has to be my favorite of all time. The tofu was cooked and marinated perfectly and was very tasty. The egg and everything else in the dish complimented it well. I will be going back here again to try out some of their other dishes soon too. The staff were all very very nice and helped us out with the menu and were pleasant to talk with. It is also in the Wrigleyville area, which is nice. The ambiance is like a normal restaurant.

I NEED U GIRL!! BTS said it with their whole chest!!! And I'm saying it to!! But the girl in this case is rice n bread! Idk why the menu has so many Korean items, there's a Korean here somewhere I feel it!! Honestly, it doesn't have a ton of options but it has the comforting classics and they hit!!! Everything else they do is also simple and delicious! A darling neighborhood spot for sure!! The staff is SO sweet and SO nice. Oh wait I just chatted with the waitress, she told me that the owners are Korean which makes so much sense. I highly recommend for a hot, filling meal in Wrigley esp in the winter!!

Was in need of comfort food and came across Rice N Bread thanks to Yelp and coincidence thanks to our route on the way home. Absolutely loved every dish we got and felt so welcomed the second we walked in! Basically finished everything we got but ate past the feeling of full so just had to take some for leftovers. Would 10/10 recommend if in or around Wrigley!

The food here is so so so BOMB! If you ever have a craving for Korean this is the spot and it hits! We got a variety of dishes and it all was so good. I've been bugging my husband to take me back because I love Korean food so much and this is the spot that fulfills my cravings. The service is a bit slow but I can see why because they have so much orders for carry outs and dine ins. We tend to over ordered and had leftover for days and it was so good.

The owners are very friendly, it's a pretty casual spot and if there's anything to order, get the Korean fried chicken!

What an unassuming but amazing place - who knew you could find a Korean restaurant/American diner just a block away from Wrigley Field? Who even knew you could combine those two into one spot? We've been a couple times, and while it can be a little tight inside we were able to come with our little baby as well. I haven't actually tried the American diner side of things other than the fries just because the Korean side has so many enticing options. The spicy buldak chicken brings the heat. The galbi makes for a delicious brunch and the soondubu tofu soup comes out lava hot like you'd hope. The service is great and they really loved our baby which was super fun for him. If only they were open on Sundays! I get they need a break, but some soondubu would have really helped my dads night out hangover. Still, will come back when they are open!

Went here for lunch and tried and few apps and split the beef bulgogi. The beef bulgogi was so good! We definitely ran out of rice towards the end, but it was so saucy and tasty. The crispy mandoo was also super good - would get the 8 pcs if we went back. The crispy tofu was decent. The sauce on top was really good, but the cubes were just a little too big so if was very tofu forward.

The food here was so fantastic and authentic tasting. Coming here from NYC and this is as good as anything you can find in KTown Manhattan and half the price. The Bibimbap Tofu was made Vegan Friendly when asked and the staff is extremely nice and accommodating!

4.5 stars: My friends and I stopped by Rice N' Bread at around 8pm on a weeknight. It's a small space and there were only a couple other patrons there, so we were seated immediately. The service and staff were truly so sweet, kind, and hospitable-- they created a really personable, intimate experience for us. As their motto suggests, they serve a lot of traditional American dishes, from burgers to omelettes, with a Korean / Asian twist, in addition to some traditional Korean dishes like jji-gae and bulgogi. I ordered the Seafood Sundubu Jji-gae, which came with a bowl of rice and small plates of kimchi and a pickled vegetable. The soup itself was hearty, aromatic, and slightly spicy, with rich and bold flavors. The silky tofu was delicious, had a wonderfully contrasting texture and mouthfeel to the other broth ingredients, and came in generous portions. Overall, would recommend this place, especially for the friendly service!

Food was wonderful, 4 of us shared and we ate everything. Waitress was special and gave us great advise Small place, very busy with carry out so we had plenty of room and great service I know Korean food and this was as good as I get in Southern California.

This place may be disguised as an American diner, and you can certainly get good diner food here, but they also have the best Korean food I've had in Chicago. The Pan Jeon Korean-style seafood pancake was absolutely perfect--moist seafood and a very crispy pancake. Dulsot Bibimbop was also about as good as it gets, with a mix of veggies and the protein of your choice on top of rice, in a searingly hot metal bowl guaranteed to turn the rice crispy on the bottom. Service was very friendly and the kitchen is quick.

After hearing about this for the first time, I had to look around. It has such a great name. Rice N Bread is letting customers know what they're cooking and serving. Even with the name, it may not be apparent this is a Korean restaurant with items such as bulgogi. They also happen to serve breakfast like pancakes. Certainly the food isn't bad. It still has a kind of confusing menu. This may prompt one to ask if this place has an identity crisis, because of the unusual variety. I stopped in for lunch. This place is pretty small so it's good I wasn't with anyone or it would have been hard to get a seat. It was lunch so I got something light. The Bul Tofu Salad was a good cold item and enough for me at this time. It's about $9 for a big bowl. This has fried crispy tofu with carrots, green leaf lettuce, and a spicy chili pepper sauce. For me the most interesting thing was the combination of breakfast and lunch. It was odd to see all these different orders. They have limited but okay choices for vegetarians.

My go to when I need a bi bim bop fix! So good! I've only gotten delivery but it's always quick and fresh.

You can feel the classic small diner vibe right when you walk in, with pictures of past customers all over the one wall. The service is great, and the staff are super friendly. I ordered the spicy yangnyum chicken, recommended to me by the staff. Did not disappoint, I was very satisfied with my food, great portions for a good price. The flavor was definitely there too. Overall, I would definitely come back to this place, and I recommend it to people looking for korean food in the area.

I've been coming here since it was Called Chester's. The food is always good and service is great. My go to meals are the Meatloaf and the Beef Steak. I always get Rice and Gravy with anything I order.

The food was great and the service was quick too. They slightly messed up our order but made sure to fix it very quickly. Great for a quick bite!

food was pretty solid. I would recommend but stick to the more traditional cuisine. The service was good and accommodating! Ambiance was very casual but consistently decently busy. I could tell there were regulars and it is a family owned business which I appreciate.

I don't leave reviews ever. This really pissed me off though. Smallest portion of pork i've ever seen in my life. For 15$ and a 3$ tip i'd expect to be full when i finish eating... Come on guys do better

My boyfriend and I have been to Rice n Bread a handful of times since moving to Wrigleyville. They never miss!!! This place is consistently amazing and we have loved every dish we have tried. The staff is extremely friendly and make an effort to remember their customers, making your experience even better. Some of our favorite dishes include the bibimbap with tofu, the spicy yetcamein with tofu, and the egg rolls. We can't recommend this place enough, it has quickly become our favorite spot.

The only problem I had with this place is that I couldn't stop eating my dish until every bite was gone! The food was absolutely delicious, but what stood out even more was the incredibly exceptional service by Je-am. When we thanked her for being so wonderful (we assumed she was the owner), she shared that she just loved working here and customers and that she had been on the team for 13 years. She radiated pure joy. We will definitely be coming back for the food and the positive energy coming from this place. Don't be scared off by this local business with sticky notes pinned around on the back wall from years of great food and service. Oh, I forgot to mention...the food I couldn't stop eating was the Korean Fried Chicken in mild sauce. Business is BYOB with a store right next door.

What a lovely small Korean restaurant! We had a very large crowd and the owner was so kind and accommodating. The food came pretty quick and it was hot and delicious. They have all the traditionally popular Korean dishes like bulgogi and galbi. I had beef kimchi jigae that hit the spot on a cold day. There are great appetizer choices. I absolutely loved the crispy fried mandoo with the sauce. There are sides for the table like kimchi and pickled daikon. The fries are very addictive too!

We ordered from Rice'N Bread last night after looking for something new to try. We read the amazing reviews on Yelp and ordered right through the app. The food came in about 30ish minutes which we were pleasantly surprised about. It was piping hot and traveled well! I went with the chicken bulgogi and my partner tried the chicken over rice. We also got a side order of the buldak. The buldak was hands down my favorite item we ordered. The chicken was flavorful, cripy, and perfectly cooked. It was spicy, but not to the point where you can't eat it. The chicken bulgogi wasn't my favorite unfortunately. It was very soupy and everything in it kind of moshed together. I also didn't love the flavor. I've only ever had beef bulgogi, so it could just be that chicken isn't for me! We ended up swapping meals halfway through because my partners was too spicy for even (even though I ordered mild) and I really liked the chicken over rice. It was flavorful, I only wish that there was a little more chicken in the dish since the rice really dominated the meal. I think Rice'N Bread was a great choice and we enjoyed our first experience. Since we're new to the menu we didn't really know what to order. I hope to visit in person to get the full experience and suggestions from the servers (my favorite way to order). Thanks to fellow Yelpers who suggested the buldak - definitely stole the show for me!
