I have been here since I first moved to GB in 1988 and honestly it's been so long I can't remember what the experience was like so this review is from a new perspective. When we arrived the lot was full, usually a good sign, and I was glad our friends made reservations. Unlike a lot of places, they don't seem to have trouble having enough staff. This is good because the place is massive and it was full including a private event in another room. I was glad we were seated in the patio area, the scenery was better and it wasn't as loud.
The service was good, especially considering how busy it was. I love that they still have a salad bar, it had just enough selection and was perfect for a before dinner salad, and hot bacon dressing! But is it's not included with your entree watch out.
There were 4 of us dining and at our table we had rib eye, done just as ordered, sea bass, half rack of ribs, and I had the pork chop, also cooked perfectly.
So here are the reasons for only 2 stars, the chef is super heavy handed in the salt department. The salt completely overpowered the favor of the glaze on my pork chop, I had to scrape it off and even then the pork chop was over salted. My entree came with a sweet potato and asparagus both of which were over cooked and had an unpleasant mushy texture. My friend said her rib eye was also way over salted.
I ordered a cucumber basil martini and all I could taste was vermouth, there was one spec of basil but it had no hint of basil flavor, no garnish,I felt like I was served a warm glass of vermouth, it was awful.
The biggest issue I have is the prices, the horrible martini I had was listed as $8 but I was charged $12. If the prices change, I get that but update your menu on-line so it's accurate. Also, the salad bar was not included with my entree which is fine, but let me know that before you charge me $12 for a tiny plate of lettuce, I definitely would have skipped it. The quality of the food is not worth the price and I won't go here again.
