Rocket Taco has a nice patio and good drinks, but the tacos fail - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"There are lots of very good taco places in Seattle. In fact, there are plenty of them on Capitol Hill alone. La Cocina Oaxaqueña, Fogón, and D’ La Santa are some of our favorites. We’re always on the lookout for more spots to join their ranks—but, unfortunately, Rocket Taco doesn’t make the cut. We’ll start with the things we actually do like about this fast-casual place on 19th Ave. The cocktails here, especially the watermelon-mint and frozen margaritas, are delicious. The space—part of which is bright and colorful, and part of which is darker and more bar-like—is fun to be in, too. So this would be a nice place to stop in with friends and drink a lot of reasonably-priced tequila in a big booth. The problem is the serious lack of tasty things you can snack on to go with it. There are tacos, of course, and you can get them two ways: classic (topped with onion and cilantro) or deluxe (with signature toppings that differ depending on the filling you choose). Whichever style you pick, they come in plates of three—and you can’t mix and match. This might be OK if the tacos were so great you wanted three of every kind, but unfortunately, the fillings range from mediocre to bad. And the sides aren't much better. Rocket Taco is a perfectly nice place to get some drinks after work or on a weekend evening. But there’s no reason to pass up the better taco options on Capitol Hill and settle for a meal here. Have a margarita or two, and then, when you get hungry, go somewhere else. Food Rundown Carnitas Tacos These are the best tacos in the house. They’re still just fine, so that’s not saying much. Thick homemade tortillas filled with not-hot pulled pork, guacamole, pickled onion, and rocket sauce. The sauce is good, so it at least masks how boring everything else is. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Cauliflower Chickpea Tacos These taste a little like vegetarian gyros, and they’re the second-best option here. The turmeric cauliflower/chickpea filling comes with cucumber, cilantro, and lime cream on top. Chicken Tacos These have ancho-seasoned chicken that looks and tastes like it’s been braised way too long. The flavor’s not bad, especially because there’s lots of rocket sauce, pico de gallo, and queso fresco. Squeeze on the homemade hot sauce to give it some pep. Beef Tacos The combination of melted cheese and shredded beef makes these way too greasy. Definitely skip. Griddled Fish Tacos Grilled fish, coconut cream, and pineapple salsa. These taste like a cruel riff on an ambrosia salad. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Quesadillas If you can’t talk your way out of a meal here, the quesadilla isn’t a horrible way to go. It’s oily and doesn’t hold up very well if you add meat, but they do grill it to-order, which means it will be hot. Get a side of rocket sauce for dipping. Rocket sauce for president. Guacamole The undersalted, underlimed guacamole here just makes us want to shrug. photo credit: Gabe Guarente Queso Fundido Do you like movie theater nachos? Then you might like these. The lukewarm chorizo-potato mixture on top tastes like cinnamon. Margaritas As mentioned, the drinks here are delicious. They do margaritas on the rocks and frozen, and the flavors change a lot—so expect combinations like watermelon and mint (our favorite) or pomegranate and ginger. Despite the food being generally not-good, we’d pop in for a cocktail on a hot day for sure. photo credit: Gabe Guarente" - Aimee Rizzo

Rocket Taco Review - Capitol Hill - Seattle - The Infatuation

"There are lots of very good taco places in Seattle. In fact, there are plenty of them on Capitol Hill alone. La Cocina Oaxaqueña, Fogón, and D’ La Santa are some of our favorites. But we happen to be of the (uncontroversial) opinion that you can never have enough great tacos in your life and/or stomach, so we’re always on the lookout for more spots to join their ranks. Unfortunately, Rocket Taco doesn’t make the cut. Whichever style you pick, they come in plates of three—and you can’t mix and match, even though the prices for every variety are the same. This might be OK if the tacos were so great you wanted three of every kind, but unfortunately, the fillings range from mediocre to bad. Your best options are the carnitas tacos with pickled onion and “rocket sauce” (a chipotle cream that’s making a noble effort to save everything it touches), and the turmeric cauliflower/chickpea tacos with cucumber and lime cream. As for the not-as-good offerings, there’s the griddled fish taco with coconut cream and pineapple, which tastes like the result of an ambrosia salad experiment gone horribly wrong. And the quinoa/lentil taco, which proves that when you mix two inherently mushy things, you just end up with exponential mush. On top of that, for some reason, all the tacos we’ve eaten here have been served lukewarm. The side dishes aren’t much better: the mixed greens salad is a sad, inconsistent bowl of leaves, the guacamole is under-seasoned, and the queso fundido reminds us of the “nachos” you can buy at a movie theater. Beef Tacos The combination of melted cheese and shredded beef makes these way too greasy. Definitely skip. Griddled Fish Tacos Grilled fish, coconut cream, and pineapple salsa. These taste like a cruel riff on an ambrosia salad. Quinoa Lentil Tacos A lesson in combining two mushy ingredients: the result will be twice as mushy. Avocado cream and crispy sweet potato chips don’t do much to save these. Quesadillas If you can’t talk your way out of a meal here, the quesadilla isn’t a horrible way to go. It’s oily and doesn’t hold up very well if you add meat, but they do grill it to-order, which means it will be hot. Get a side of rocket sauce for dipping. Rocket sauce for president. Mixed Greens This is bad, but not always in the same way. One time we tried it, the sickly-sweet dressing was only drizzled on the surface, and another time, some of the greens looked like they came from a discount bag at the supermarket. The spiced pepitas are the best part of this salad, but you can get those at the supermarket, too. Guacamole The undersalted, underlimed guacamole here just makes us want to shrug. Queso Fundido Do you like movie theater nachos? Then you might like these. The lukewarm chorizo-potato mixture on top tastes like cinnamon. Margaritas As mentioned, the drinks here are delicious. I think the employees make this place. The food only needs to be ok for this location. But the concept is suspect. Another but - I would do the same since the pandemic taught us so much. Ok here’s the drill - you show up, grab a table, get up and walk to the bar to order, food runners bring your grub. Want another drink? Get up and back to the bar and order again. When you’re done bus your table and off with you. The food is fine, the drinks ok, and you take care of yourself. Why is this so bothersome? Because there’s no relationship with anyone here.- This place is doing well cuz low labor costs and it’s a place to eat on 19th. Which is apparently ideal as the place is consistently busy.

Nice way to end the work day, celebrate Taco Tuesday, or simply not cook one night. Good atmosphere, quick service and a dairy free horchata that will make you want a gallon! Nachos with beans were amazing and the chips and guacamole were so tasty! I would maybe skip on the Griddled Fish as it came across a little bland. Would definitely come back and try some other tasty bites there.

Was out on a lime bike, got lost, was starving, running on fumes..thought I was a goner. Brain was blinking red, till it went pink fluffy. There was something pink and fluffy that caught my eye. Almost ran over the sweetest old lady. Turns out it was the storefront of an art gallery..who’d a thunk. Shot the shit with her, apologized for nearly sending her to the ER. Mentioned I was hungry. She didn’t miss a beat “Rocket Taco.” Said they had a buss..down Mexican potato. You know me and carbs go hand in hand. And your boy’s brown..so I went to town. She told me it was one block behind me. The gods had sent her. Even gave me the game plan to get back to Broadway, “Follow Aloha.” Whipped that Lime around, parked it with precision, Trek’d back in reverse..bam. There it was. The gods had spoken, And tacos fell. Walked in fresh off a survival dunny. Server saw it in my eyes..I was ready to smack down. Six tacos al pastor. Extra piña. No playing around. Hit it off with one of the cooks..fresh off the pueblo. Me and him connected. Let him know his work was top tier: "Un chiflado, y sabía que hasta aquí en el gabacho estamos." Should’ve seen his face when the white boy hit the chilango whistle. He knew I was the real deal. He gave me the salute. "También, primo." I walked outta there with his blessing. Them tacos? Smacked. Posted up on a street corner...perfect place to take the pulse of a hood. Fresh dunny in hand, crispy jamaica in the other. Early 2000s suburbs meets New York grit. Corner energy was lethal in chillness. Came back for the package. Tacos were beyond standard. Fresh herbs. Real cuts. Handmade tortillas de maíz. The cook killed it. Rocket taco got the Seal. 🤫

Get ready for terrible service and good tacos! We’ve gone several times since we live nearby. The staff are consistently disinterested and often can’t be bothered to engage customers at the register or offer any sort of “hello” or “welcome”. The food comes quickly and is consistently good, I just wish they could hire staff who are aware that they work in a customer-facing role. I would come more often if the staff and atmosphere were remotely welcoming.

Food: I ordered the cauliflower deluxe tacos for $15. They were MAYBE appetizer sized, barely seasoned, and lukewarm at best. Cauliflower was cooked badly and watery (microwaved or poorly steamed?). Food cost into these was maybe a $1. Ridiculous. I was so hungry after. My friend ordered one of their meat tacos and there was easily twice the food on his. I give it 2 stars for the keylime pie because was actually tasty but I had to wait 10 minutes for it. Atmosphere: gets minus 1 star because it was FREEZING in there. I had to eat my lukewarm food with my jacket fully zipped up and was still shivering.

Haven't eaten here in a few years, but since they recently moved into a new space I decided to check it out. It's a nice upgrade, far more open and spacious interior with additional outdoor seating, just in time for the Seattle spring and summer seasons. This visit, I got the carnitas tacos with a side of beans and the large mixed greens salad. Delicious and filling.

We live in the neighborhood, so have eaten here many times in the old location. Today was a nice day so we decided to have lunch on the beautiful new patio. The food was very disappoiniting, not sure what happened. Salad with carne asada and chipolte shrimp tacos, both probably the worst I ever had. Salad had fresh greens, but was overloaded with beans, way, way too many and had heavy dressing with no flavor. But the worst thing about it was the so called carne asada - in fact there were few tiny specks of dry and bland meat that was clearly cooked (and overcooked!) a long time ago, nothing remotely resembling carne asada. Chipolte shrimp had too much sauce that was way to sweet (in addition to sweet pinapple) and not enough flavor. All in all - a huge disappoinment of a meal. We ate here so many times before in the old location and it was always solid and consistent, not gourmet but just fine. Please fix the food now that you have this beautiful new patio!

Yelp
How have I not reviewed my favorite spot for posole yet?? On particularly cold, blustery seattle days I crave rocket taco. Specifically their posole with a side of chips. It's hearty, perfectly seasoned, and warms you right up. I tried a bowl this most recent visit, and should have stuck to a cup. It's huge! You could share it. Service was fine, though it's easy when it's a walk up and order first type of joint. Food comes out really quick! This isn't quite dive bar, but is more cozy bar that also allows kids. They had some good movies showing when we were in, as well as the college NCAA games.

Yelp
Well, I'm pretty sure we just found our new favorite Seattle taco place! This sweet little spot on Capitol Hill was just the answer to our Friday night food cravings. The vibe was eclectic and casual, and the food was delicious. You order at the counter here, then find a table. We had barely just sat down when our food was magically before our eyes. Talk about speedy service! I've been to fast food joints where it took longer to get a burger and fries. I had the pozole, which was a hearty cup of tender pork age hominy in a savory red sauce. At only $5 for the cup, it was an amazing deal and very filling. The dude got their adobo chicken tacos, which was on special. Luckily, he let me have a few bites. They were wonderful. We also shared an order of chips and their famous guacamole. I can see why people rave about this guac! It was simple and perfect. Our meal was topped off by a couple of cold beers. You know it's good when the next day I'm already thinking about going back. I really want to try their taco salad next time.

Yelp
I was working an event in the area and got Rocket Taco TWICE on back-to-back days. Unheard of for me, but that Rocket Taco salad was incredible (in fact, I'm still thinking about it)! I love that they have so many vegetarian fill-ins; I chose sweet potato which gave my salad a little more "oomph." It was so filling yet refreshing, chefs kiss. The side of guac was a perfect addition. I got this as takeout so can't speak to ambiance, but service was superfast and the mobile app is easy-to-use. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
I can't believe I've reached a place where I think $11 for 3 tacos is a bargain, but hey, here I am. My three beef tacos were tasty. The flavor was good, not great. Same for my hubs' chicken tacos. Good, not great. But we both enjoyed the handmade tortillas and the large amount of cilantro. (If you are not a fan of cilantro, tell them to leave it off or you will get a salad's worth! We left the raw onion off our tacos because we're not fans). The guacamole was fantastic! Sometimes guacamole can be overpowered by too much lime, onion, or jalapeños. Their guacamole was close to perfect for me. The chips were also surprisingly light and delicious. For $7, I thought it was a bargain, especially since many places charge more and doctor up the guac with too many add-ins. Lastly, our cashier was super friendly and nice, and the service was lightening fast! They were delivering our guacamole and chips even before we found a table. Now that's fast. We sat outside on a hot evening and it was really pleasant and laid back. Overall, a satisfying neighborhood taco joint that we really enjoyed. We will be back, Rocket Taco!

Yelp
Pros: decent food, chilled vibe, ample seating outdoors and indoors Cons: nothing tastes especially good or memorable to me

Yelp
Wow. This place slaps. It's great genuine Mexican food. The wait time is minimal and they have some hot people working there. As a professional taco enthusiast this place is definitely worth every penny. I have a tradition that whenever I find a new restaurant I like I go there and destroy their toilet with diarrhea and have come here multiple times to absolutely fuck up the pluming

Yelp
We were so excited to try this taqueria after Kenji Lopez-Alt posted about three of their dishes on Instagram. We liked the Al Pastore tacos (3.9/5 stars) and pork belly tacos (4.1/5 stars) are good (although perhaps not mind blowing) and we felt that the pork pozole (5/5 stars) was phenomenal. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is no mix and match. You get three traditional tacos for $11 or three premium tacos for $14. Overall, we had a good experience, and we want to give the restaurant a second chance to see if it is actually great, as reviews from 2023 indicate. I will say that we were surprised by the volume of cilantro on each taco (probably four times the amount we usually see at restaurants - and we are NOT allergic to cilantro! It's just that it was excessive). The other quirk was the temperature of the tacos - the restaurant had all of the windows open, so I think room was only 55°F. Maybe that was why the first taco was warm (not hot) and the other two tacos on my plate cooled down extremely fast, even though we were starving and eating quickly. The servers were friendly, and the tacos were served quickly.

Yelp
Casual but very inviting Taco place in Capital Hill. Lots of vegetarian options. For me the vegetarian option was a bit better than the meat option. So I can highly recommend trying this. I love the ambiance as it is casual but still a great place for Happy Hours or hanging with friends after work. We ordered: Chicken Traditional tacos Cauliflower Chickpea deluxe tacos I highly recommend the vegetarian option. Staff was great and welcoming, enough service to order fast and get food fast as well.

Yelp
This is a cute restaurant in a great location but I wouldn't come here for "tacos" again. The corn tortillas were nice and fresh, the shredded beef was a bit mushy, the beans were average. The menu is above the counter.

Yelp
This was a late birthday event. I mean, who doesn't like birthday tacos? But I will admit to shedding a tear for the space that Kingfish Cafe used to inhabit. Tacos and a Pacifico hit the spot on a sunny afternoon. It's no Michelin star establishment but this was a nice place for an afternoon lunch.

Yelp
Positives : good food. 1/2 good service. Negatives carry out or take and sit. But looks like a casual dining restaurant and bar. Othe half is service is bad. Beans or chips don't have much flavor. No salsa to Find.
google avatar

Yelp
I just discovered rocket taco and ice been here 3x in the past 2 months! My favorite tacos are the pork belly tacos and Al pastor tacos! They are slightly more expensive (like $2-3 more) than say Carmelo's and tacos chukis but the quality is so good and the tacos are way more filling! The pork belly and al pastor are super tender, slow cooked, and seasoned and packed with flavor. The tacos also come with a side of chips or beans!

Yelp
Friendly cashier, tasty tacos, affordable. I got their lentil tacos and black bean and sweet potato tacos - both very fresh. Their hot sauce is delicious too, especially their spicy one.
google avatar

Dee M.

Yelp
We got the sweet potatoes and bean taco, griddled fish tacos, a side of guacamole & chips and the chocolate mousse for dessert. The food was just okay. The mousse has too much cinnamon and the potato tacos were soggy. The fish tacos were actually good.
google avatar

Sahitya M.

Yelp
Love that they have a decent number of vegan options but I didn't find any of them impressive. They kind of tasted bland. Pros - guacamole was pretty delicious - the taco is smooth and definitely feels fresh and made in-house - the sweet potato is tasty too Cons - the cauliflower and chickpea was a disappointment - taco salad ended up tasting so bland - the service was not particularly good. You got to order and then go for seating. You would have to pick the sauces at the counter and usually they are already taken by others

Yelp
The quality of food had been less impressive the last year. Very salty , queso tastes extremely processed. The happy hour deals are still good.
google avatar

Yelp
Big portions, reasonable prices, delicious flavor. Everything here tastes homemade and fresh. Great casual spot to sit down and grab tacos. I got the regular carnitas tacos, and the first thing I noticed was the tortilla quality. You can tell they make them in house. The amount of carnitas was amazing -- I barely finished all three! The carnitas were more on the soft side rather than crispy or texturized side, if that matters. It also came with some beans on the side which were just okay. The chips and pico de gallo were also delicious, and the pico was some of the freshest I've had in ages. Notes about the place itself, there's loads of outdoor seating which is great I've you've got a dog or it's a nice day out. It's pay at the counter, take a number and wait style, and also fill your own water/get napkins/bus your table yourself at the end type of thing. All around this is a great place to get a casual lunch or dinner. I'd recommend!
google avatar

Akanksha G.

Yelp
A little pricey, but pretty good food! I came by with some friends over the weekend, and, as I was starving, I decided to get the Al Pastor traditional tacos. The cashier was super friendly and answered all my questions. We then grabbed a table, and the food came out so fast! I had only been seated for a few minutes at most before the tacos were ready. The tacos were to die for. The meat was so juicy and tender, but also incredibly flavorful. The pineapples added a bit of sweetness to the slight spice of the sauce. Plus, the portions were pretty good, and I was completely full by the time I was done. My only complaint is that the chips were literally just plain chips. They didn't even come with any pico de gallo. I used them to scoop pieces that fell out of the tacos, but I would recommend getting beans as the side instead. Overall, I had a great time and will be back!
google avatar

Ana M.

Yelp
We love their tacos eventhough they are on the pricey side. Pretty good al pastor tacos. Everything is good but we basically come here for those and lengua ones :) BTW please change "Posole" to "Pozole" :) Pineapple drink was a bit spicy cucumber mule was the one for me. The Pear drink was also good. I still have to try their horchata!! Staff changes from time to time. There was this time where the owner was at the front and then mixing drinks. They are sometimes fast. Placr is busy but you can find always an open table on weekends. They even have outside tables now.

Yelp
I once drove past a sign in enumclaw that said that a burrito place attached to a gas station had the best burrito in washington state. It was a good burrito. But to be honest rocket tacos al pastor burrito is the BEST burrito in washington state. Hands down
google avatar

Morgan R.

Yelp
We love rocket taco and find it to be a wonderful spot for dinner. The food is consistently delicious and the vibe is relaxed. We love the taco salad, tacos, and the lemonade! Would recommend to anyone :)

Renee C.

Yelp
Food always spot on no matter what is ordered. One of the highlight is the guacamole. Have made special trips just to get the guacamole and chips. Bar selection is varied enough to appeal to anybodies wants. It is a typical small Mexican restaurant vibe with a nice and friendly staff. Go and enjoy.

Brandon L.

Yelp
The deluxe carnitas tacos were good. The service was fast and the staff are kind. It's a nice little taco shop with music and nice decorations. I would check it out if you want tacos and are in the area.
google avatar

Katherine L.

Yelp
I went for lunch, and it was absolutely delightful! I got the al pastor tacos with chips (you choose chips v. beans), and lime margarita. I liked the flavors of the meat, the raw onions weren't too strong, and the tortillas had a nice texture. I would come back again. I didn't love the idea of having three of the same tacos, but I didn't mind it at all when I was eating.

Annette C.

Yelp
Great service, ambience, and drinks. The food is over pricey and was not good. I ordered deluxe carnitas, which was to include beans or chips on the side. I received 6 chips in a short cut bag. No salsa. The pork was mushy. The guacamole did taste good however. If I was to go here again, definitely go for drinks and chips/guacamole only.
google avatar

Karishma A.

Yelp
**vegetarian review** The tacos here are obviously really good! They are so filling and and the lime crema is so delicious!! I do wish they would let you create a set with different flavours so you can try more things. Unfortunately that's not an option. The outdoor seating is super nice and definitely recommended

Michael P.

Yelp
Couldn't get a picture because I was too consumed by the burrito. If this is how delivery is, I can't even imagine how solid this place is in person. Thank god I don't live closer otherwise I'd be there every day.
google avatar

Celeste C.

Yelp
I love the location on Whidbey. They always have my order ready when I arrive. The kid's menu is my pick for lunch. Parking is small, and they are always busy. Come when they open for shortest wait.
google avatar

Tammy L.

Yelp
I had seen this restaurant a couple of times on my trips to get cookies. I decided to order today and I'm glad I did. I ordered the Deluxe chicken taco meal and the traditional taco meal. I'm not sure which one I liked best because they were both good. The tacos had a good amount of shredded meat that is not chicken tinga (I do not like chicken tinga). The meat was moist and piled high, and the taco was not too wet. The smoky beans that are served with the tacos have a great flavor. No rice is needed. The guac was delicious and the chips, amazing. The guac was green and delicious, and the chips had the right amount of saltiness. The potato poblano quesadilla was good, as well. All the sauces asked for were provided and the order was accurate. By the way, one taco and the quesadilla were eaten the next day and they warmed up toasty and delicious. This is my new favorite taco please.

Yelp
Rocket Taco is nothing more than average tacos at a slightly above average price. At first, the wide variety of taco options really intrigued me. They have at least 8 different tacos to choose from, as well as 2 special ones that weren't on the menu. Lots of interesting combinations compared to your usual taco spot. However, less is sometimes more. We had the deluxe versions of the griddled fish tacos and carnitas tacos. If you're not a fan of coconut, do not order the fish tacos. I didn't know I didn't like coconut until I had these, as the coconut crema that was used was way too prominent and overpowered the whole taco... The carnitas tacos were a bit better, but didn't really stand out in anyway. Each order also comes with a side of their smoky beans, which just tasted like your average cup of beans. Nothing special here. Overall, just an average taco spot. I'd struggle to recommend this place over a better and cheaper option like Tacos Chukis. I'm definitely impressed with the variety of options, but think they could use some work.

Yelp
Visited at 5:00 p.m 8/27. Livy (Libby) the cashier was SO sweet; answered any, and all of my questions at the register since we were new. She was so patient and kind. The carnitas tacos excellent, chorizo/potato, and el pastor (spelling IDK). The bar tender however, she ignored my husband like she was in a fog for several, several minutes and it was uncomfortable to watch this rudeness. She's the one with the combat boots, arm/wrist tattoos, and shoulder length light colored hair. She was the only thing that didn't seem to fit in our excellent experience and this should be addressed. Will return thanks to Livy (Libby).

Michael T.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible service and we decided to walk out. Stopped by earlier today and we hit a brick wall when asking about the menu. Not everyone has been here before and knows your menu and your staff shouldn't be incredibly rude to someone for asking if they can order a single taco (which apparently you can't...despite it being a dedicated taqueria?). There are many other charming places in the area...I don't know why anyone would choose to go here.
google avatar

Yelp
Great tacos if you're in the area! I wouldn't drive super out of my way for this, but if you're nearby definitely stop. They have deluxe tacos ($12) or classic ($9). The classic tacos are the typical street style taco toppings of onion and cilantro. The deluxe tacos come with a varied assortment of toppings depending which you choose. Both come with 3 of the same meat tacos--no mixing and matching--and a cup of pito beans. I tried the fish tacos which came with a coconut topping. I loved this. Warning you probably have to like coconut to enjoy this. It has a semisweet coconut cream on top which is delicious on top of the fish and cabbage. The chicken tacos were okay. The chicken is shredded and was on the drier side. It really needed salsa added to it. They did have mild, medium, and hot salsa.

Yelp
My husband and I wanted to explore a little bit in Capitol Hill, we always eat in Bellevue since we live in downtown bellevue and never get to explore what's in seattle. I love Mexican food and my go to place is cactus! I said for a change let's pick a Mexican restaurant in seattle! We stumbled upon this place and boy did we not regret! First of all, I love supporting local restaurants, we were so lucky coz it was happy hour so I ordered quesadillas with chicken and some chips and guacamole with some salsa! At first I was not expecting anything but when I tasted it, tasted so good! I was so impressed! For less than $20 You get so much more! I was not in the mood to Drink but their drinks look really good! I'm okay to Come back here with my husband and explore the pork belly tacos! If you're craving for Mexican and something quick but satisfying then I highly suggest this place!

Yelp
Yes, please. House made tortillas, delicious and filling, I enjoyed the hell out of my 3 Al Pastor tacos. I dined inside and felt safe and comfortable, with noticeable covid precautions. Service was casual and so helpful and friendly, the decor is lovely. They have to go margaritas! BUT WHY NO MICHELADA?!?! I would give less stars due to the lack of michelada, but I enjoyed the food so much and was totally charmed by the service and the spot... but please. I'd make the drive from West Seattle more often if you could make that michelada happen as easily as a margarita. Also, the key lime pie for desert did not disappoint. See you again Rocket Taco, sooner if you can promise that refreshing michelada at the counter!

Yelp
The kind of rocket/mid-century(?) motif is pretty rad. This location in east Capitol Hill tucked away in an older charming residential area is purdy nice. Cool music overhead, pleasant staff and great vegan / plant-based food options. For food, I've tried both the traditional & deluxe tacos (veg), mixed green salad (hold dairy; they have vegan pepitas so if your first time ordering it vegan, ask for peace of mind) and yeah, I think that's it. Lime is solid, super decent flavors. I wish they added cilantro by default to the sweet potato and quinoa lentil; entrees w/o some greens tend to be a bit "heavy" to me. The mixed green salad may seem unexciting but the pepitas with garlic lime dressing is satisfyingly simple. Oh, I also tried the horchata (no ice because it's already chilled enough). It was so nice, smooth & creamy without the distraction of ice cubes. A few tables outside to chill & dine. I'll have to try the burrito sometime. Thumbs up!

Yelp
Had a beef burrito and it was delicious! The restaurant is pretty spacious with plenty of outdoor seatings. They also have specials and a lot of different alcoholic drinks.

Yelp
I stopped by on Friday during lunch time. Ordered taco deluxe sweet potato black beans, it was so good! They are dog friendly. My pup is also in love with the place, because she got treats and lots of attention! The service is very friendly and attentive The atmosphere is very cozy, every other table is blocked for seating, tables are very far apart, so no worries about social distancing. There's also outside seating if that's your thing. I would be back.

Yelp
We got a gift card for this place from my best friend, and we got to try it out. The place was very easy to get to and there was parking for food pick up. We tried carnitas tacos, beef tacos and fish quesadilla, all amazing! They were very generous with the meat in the tacos, totally worth the price. We'll definitely try here again some other time.

Yelp
I truly don't understand the reviews from a flavor standpoint. My stomach feels so icky after eating the deluxe fish tacos. I never write reviews but I feel like I gotta let the people know. What is up with the salty but super dry cod with the coconut crème? It sounded appealing but was horrible together. Stick to the taco trucks was my lesson today. I'm pretty sure a gringo owns this joint. The horchata had a extremely strong clove presence, it was like I was drinking a herbal tincture lmao. That's cool and all but if I wanted something like that I would of ordered herbal aperitif.

Yelp
Excellent customer service and the food never disappoints along with pretty inexpensive. ( for Seattle $

Yelp
Yes, I miss Contadino... but I think Rocket Taco is a strong contender for staying awhile on this north Capitol Hill stretch of 19th. The Homie and I got street parking right out front and joined the line to order at the counter. Definitely they kept most of the restaurant framework (Kingfish Cafe, Ernest Loves Agnes, Contadino), but with interior updates that make it distinct to call it Rocket Taco. Friendly, helpful service. Food is made to order, not mass produced. Order, pay, you're given a number, and choice of seating, right for the bar, left for the main dining area. The Homie had a Coke, comes with a refill upon request. I stuck with water, although the frozen alcoholic beverages sounded good. Definite note to self for future warmer summer evenings! I selected the Quesadillas with carnitas ($12)...very generous, also comes with with a side of beans, crema, and pico de gallo. Thought I'd have more leftovers, but dining with a teenager. Yeah right. The Homie had the traditional fish tacos ($9). Trio of seasoned cod, onions, and cilantro plus side of beans. Devoured with some of my quesadillas. Wrapped it up with two orders of warm freshly made churros and amazing chocolate dipping sauce ($6 each with sauce). Ate one set, the other definitely had to take home. Delicious...love these slightly more than the ones at TNT Taqueria. Those churros with chocolate dipping made me forget to stop by Hello Robin...that's saying something from this self proclaimed cookie fiend. A terrific addition to the restaurant/cafe scene on 19th Avenue E!

Yelp
Walking in there is two sides, I wanted grab and go! I didn't want to stay and have them wait for me to take my photos, enjoy the first bite and more! The gentlemen who took my order was great and patient! Id come during the week to get a better chance of not waiting in a semi line! Great little neighborhood, parking is kind of hard, but I was able to get a spot right away! I got the carnitas with out guacamole, pickled onions, Rocket sauce and cilantro; disappointed. Let's replace this 9.00 option with a burrito or something delightful! Love the taco shells, love the carnitas but it's sooooo bland if you take it to go! The beans were like three bites and really plain I was hoping they had some bomb beans at this spot. Ok it's better than what I might make, but I don't cook beans. I should've got the Rocket sauce at least. Anyways can't wait to go back and re try this spot! Ha ha Overall I think I would love to be able to mix and match the items, it's fresh, delicious but not like OMG you have to come back!

Yelp
The food is good here but very disappointed in service. - no substitutions you get three of the same tacos no options. Response buy 9 tacos. 3 of each kind. - tipped when you order at the counter - tipped again when ordering separately at the bar - menu makes little sense - how they operate was confusing - bartender unwelcoming - asked the runner for some hot sauce after she asked if we needed anything else as she set the plates down. She pointed to the other room and said I could go over to the ordering counter and grab a bottle of sauce - overall, the owner should change this up as it should be packed like the other places around there at 6:30 on a Friday. They weren't. Also, I'm no longer tipping before the meal and not when you order at the counter. -

Yelp
So appreciate this place. You know when you can tell a place has something good going on? the vibe is easy, the staff all seem relaxed, everybody seems to be having a good time - Rocket Taco is this scene. They also have turned it out all through the pandemic, adapting quickly to no contact ordering and pick up. It is still the easiest most consistent place to order food online. Only now you can eat there, with outside seating too. They are rockin it at Rocket Taco. Locally owned too.

Yelp
Good food, good price. Some of the better/best tacos I've had in town! Quality and quantity were both good. This will be my go to place for tacos now!

Yelp
Came upon this place when looking for a last minute spot to eat in Capitol Hill, and I am so glad I stopped here. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I kept it simple with an al pastor quesadilla, but I would love to come back and try some of the tacos on their menu. They all looked amazing. I was delighted that my quesadilla came with beans, pico de Gallo, sour cream, and three hot sauces. Generous portions with enough left to take home!

Yelp
Had a craving for some tacos and came here since we were in the area! Clean place with a good amount of seating; however, the individual taking our order at the counter seemed very bored and was not that welcoming. We ordered the chicken tacos with a side of beans and chicken quesadilla with a side of chips. Was disappointed that they didn't give you the option to mix and match tacos, especially since I found the price point to be a little high. That being said, I did appreciate how the chicken quesadilla had a lot of meat in it, which made it really filling! The beans were really delicious- highly recommend ordering this as a side if you do come here. As for the salsas, you have to grab the bottles from the counter where you order, and by the time we got there, there was only one bottle left? Would've appreciated more salsa options. We tried their Horchata, which was alright. I did like how it wasn't too sweet. Overall, when taking pricing into account, would recommend venturing somewhere else.
