The Best New Restaurants in Austin, March 2025

"Austin’s bakery scene is a better place now that chef Amanda Rockman finally opened her own spot in mid-October in the Holly neighborhood. There are so many wonderful croissants, both sweet (apple-almond, chocolate fudge) and savory (ham-cheese-mustard, everything bagel), alongside rip-and-dip bagels and schmears and other pastries. Expect lines on the weekends. Takeout orders can be placed in person; there are indoor dine-in areas." - Brittany Britto Garley, Nadia Chaudhury

Google
Wide selection of pastries, breakfast items, bagels, that type of thing. By far the best London fog that I’ve had in all of Austin. The London fog goes great with the scone. I also thought the bagel was really good - nice and chewy and there were two different seed varieties poppyseed, and everything bagel. If you’re missing bagels from New York, then go here. Super cute atmosphere. Get there early cause there could be a line. We showed up on a rainy day and were able to order and get seated within 10 minutes.

This place has a super cute vibe and cozy decor. Be ready for a bit of a wait though—weekend lines can get long. The baked goods are solid, though the prices felt a little higher than I expected (could just be a me problem). The kouign amann is really flaky, which I loved, but I was disappointed that it didn’t have a strong buttery aroma. The chocolate filling inside was super rich and tasty. I also tried the date blondie bar and it was decent. softer than I expected, but packed with that sticky date sweetness. They also have special menus for the holidays. Some of the items looks really good on the Easter menu. Right now I’d put this place somewhere between 4 and 5 stars, and I’ll probably be back to try more.

Google
Chill, friendly, but focused, the service and atmosphere are very appealing. The pastries are at the top of the rankings — classic French standards but with an imaginative enhancement. My cardamom roll was delicious with a flaky crust, soft airy interior, raisins or currants, honey, and a hint of cardamom. Flat whites are once again my go to coffee drink, and their version of the Aussie combination of micro-foam and espresso is elevated above the average. It’s a one mile round trip from my apartment, which makes a wonderful morning walk. I will back! Second visit: flat white and apple/almond croissant. Service, atmosphere and food were just as good as last time. My almond/apple croissant was flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. The toasted almonds and almond butter were full of flavor, as were the sugared lightly cooked apple slices. I can’t complain.

Google
Never too friendly.. not sure why. Their pastries all look really good but only a few actually are. The coffee is really good though and they have decaf options as well. Cute ambiance and there’s parking. $17 for one pastry and a small iced coffee. I’ve asked for my pastry to be warmed up every time and they nod but then don’t do it and therefore it’s always hard as a rock. I had to saw through the one you see here in the picture.

Google
So i feel some way not being able to give 5 stars here. The customer service.. amazing. I went 2 days in a row so that says something. Day one apple almond croissant, oatmeal Crack cookie, and cardamom bun. As someone who has traveled to over 20 states for almond croissants I’m very opinionated on them. This one intrigued me with the apple. I’ll say visually it looked good, ample almond cream filling, and good texture( crusty outside chewy inside) but the apple. It’s certainly their take and I wanted to live it but I dont feel like it added anything to the pasty and was more of an unnecessary extra. The oatmeal crack cookie while not traditional it was just what you would expect and enjoyable with their twist. The cardamom bun. This was a wild card pick and I think it would be a hit but one dried fruits ruined it for me. Not because it’s dried fruits but because they were so dried and hard I actually questioned if it was fruit because it was so hard to chew. I actually spit the fruit out to verify it was indeed dried fruit. Another rock man twist that while has potential missed the mark and the basic bun would have sufficed. Day two Lemon poppyseed cake and ginger cookie. Lemon poppyseed cake was simple, no additions, and absolutely out of this world. Super moist, flavorful, and balanced. I’d eat the whole “loaf”. The ginger cookie was certainly a snap. lol. It’s paper thin like a crisp but still somehow chewy. Delicious in its own way and enjoyed it for one cookie. Overall this place has great service (which matters) and great pastries and potential. Again the few rockman curveballs didn’t hit for me but I’d still visit in the future when in town to try other pastries and see how they tasty.

Google
Very good bakery. Good variety of options. Only one place where I found Bostock in Austin. I wish it would be not with apricot (maybe if the owner check the review - I would be soo happy to have anything more sour: berries, rubarb) but texture and the way it was done - 10/10 (just this apricot doesn’t fit my taste palette).

Google
Came in 2pm on a Saturday, no line and plenty of pastries left! It was my partner's bday, so we balled out. We got 9 pastries, cost $45 which for the portion size and quality feels reasonable to me. The staff member helping us was great and even sent us home with a bday candle! Loved everything we got, but most memorable choices are for sure the pecan bar, chocolate banana cake, and chantilly cake. We will be back to try the bagels!

Google
The atmosphere is kind of stiff and not very comfortable. They didn’t have as much as we thought they would based of the inline menu so we got a basque cake and a croissant with lemon cream cheese filling. Both were good. I also got a cappuccino that was great. i recommend trying it but I don't think there was anything too special. It's also hard to find parking and the parking lot is paid parking.

Yelp
Flaky, Buttery, and Absolutely Worth the Hype! Rockman Coffee + Bakeshop is one of those rare finds that instantly becomes a favorite. Tucked away on East Cesar Chavez, this charming spot is a pastry lover's dream. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by the warm scent of fresh-baked croissants and the hum of espresso machines. Their kouign-amann is a standout--crispy, caramelized edges with a soft, buttery center that melts in your mouth. The croissants are perfectly flaky, and the churros are a delightful surprise. Pair any of these with a smooth latte or a bold cold brew, and you've got yourself a perfect start to the day. The vibe is bright and welcoming, with a display case that makes it nearly impossible to choose just one thing. Even when there's a line (and there often is), it moves quickly and is well worth the wait. Whether you're grabbing a quick coffee or settling in for a slow morning with a book and a pastry, Rockman delivers every time.

Yelp
Walked in pretty stoked to get a bagel on Saturday at 11 a.m. Line was decently long but found out pretty quick they were sold out of bagels for the morning already. We pivoted to some pastries instead because we were already there, so why the heck not. We got an everything croissant, churro croissant, corn cookie, and chocolate croissant. They were PHENOM! We really enjoyed it and they had seating for us as inside. Need to go back for bagels, but happy with what we ended up with!

Yelp
Rockman is a charming bakery and coffee house featuring fresh-baked bagels, coffee cakes, cookies and pastries, breakfast croissants, coffees and teas. And they have beer, wine, and carafes of cocktails. I ordered a hot matcha. For $10 ($6.75 for the smaller size + $1 oat milk + $1 for vanilla + tax and tip), it was a miss for me. I don't mind paying that much for a deeeelicious cup of matcha, but my order had small clusters of unmixed matcha powder; the quality of the drink was lacking and didn't match the price. Also, $4 for a side of schmear is just uncool. It was more than the actual $3 bagel. Paid parking is available in their lot, and a few spots are reserved for 15-minute grab/go orders.

Yelp
If I had a sweet tooth I would've gotten a pastry, everything looked fresh and beautiful, especially the croissants. I got the matcha latte because it looked authentic from the photos posted online and the kolache. I guess I should've asked, but I assumed it was sausage since that's what a plain ole kolache is...imagine my surprise when I bit into it and it was ham and cheese. The sesame seeded bread was a nice touch. The matcha was not it. It tasted filmy for lack of a better word. The flavor was not weak, but not strong. Rockman was very popular during breakfast time (line went to the door). Con: parking was in a lot that you have to pay for. There was only 15 min free parking there for Rockman, but with the crowd there was no way we'd be in and out that fast.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place for their drinks! I'm obsessed with their salted caramel cold brew and their strawberry matcha! This place is a true definition of $10 a drink in Austin but it lives up to the hype in my option so it's a splurge. I do enjoy their dip bagels and cream cheese! I tried different cakes and pastries but can't find one that I like but they are popular and known for it. The service is very nice and prompt!

Yelp
After hearing so many great things about this place, I finally decided to stop by on a Sunday. I arrived about 30 minutes early fully prepared to wait in line but lucky me, there was no line! While I waited in my car, a noticed this man taking photos of cars parked in the paid parking spots. He kind of startled me because he was wearing street clothes. He waved me off and so I rolled down my window to ask what he was doing and he said that he works for the parking company and he was issuing tickets. He waved me off because I was sitting in my car. He was nice enough to tell me that Rockman's does have a few 15 minute parking spots that I clearly missed. Upon entering Rockman's there is a huge note on the door regarding parking and I attached a photo below. Since this was my first time, it took me forever to decide, so I got the following: Ham/cheese/mustard croissant, apple almond croissant, cinnamon roll, white sesame bagel with loaded lox, chocolate chip cookie croissant and a chocolate chip cookie latte. OMG...everything was DELICIOUS! So much so, that I went back 2 weeks later and tried churro croissant, almond poppyseed lemon cake, pecan bar, everything bagel with garlic herb smear, seasonal basque cake and the everything bagel croissant. Again, just wow.My absolute favorites were the white sesame bagel with loaded lox, almond poppyseed lemon cake, pecan bar and the seasonal Basque cake...holy heck!

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp when craving a sweet treat for breakfast and Rockman didn't disappoint. I don't think it's possible for them to make a bad pastry here. I do recommend the oat crack cookie and their chocolate chip cookie with sea salt. They also have some crazy croissant creations too. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Finally got a chance to try some goodies from Rockman recently. Went as soon as they opened on a Friday so it was a great time to get parking and also snag a seat! We got the everything bagel, the churro croissant, and the Apple Parmesan sage scone. I also got a small latte with their sourdough chocolate chip cookie butter syrup. My favorite was the everything bagel, they recommended ripping and dipping into the cream cheese and it was 10/10 delicious. I also really liked the churro croissant, though didn't realize it was full of cream when I got which made it a bit more rich. The scone was a pass for me but I think I was just wanting more of that Parmesan taste to come through. The coffee the syrup didn't really come through flavor wise so I would recommend getting extra syrup so it's not quite so bitter. Everyone there was super nice and helpful, and it wasn't too busy on a weekday which was nice. They have a big parking lot for paid parking as well as lots of street parking. Would definitely go again to try even more of their savory pastries/snag another bagel!

Yelp
Lovely bakery, but the treats fell under my expectations. I heard so much about Rockman Coffee and Bakshop, so I was very excited to try. I came on Friday at around 11am. There was no line and lots of treats to choose from. I got a churro croissant, everything bagel croissant and a cinnamon bun. In my opinion, all of the pastries were very dense in weight and in flavor. The cinnamon roll was very think. The churro croissant and the everything bagel croissant wasn't as crispy and flaky as I would like. Had good flavor, but very think. Inside there are seats against the window sil and a few tables in the middle. Music is pretty loud, so don't recommend taking call there. I'm willing to try more pastries next time!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Rockman since they opened, and I'm so glad I finally did! I went around 2 pm on a Thursday and I was really nervous they would be sold out of a lot of things, but I think that was only an issue when they first opened. There was no line, plenty of parking, and plenty of pastries to choose from! Everything looked so good, it was hard to only pick a couple. Also, it's hard to tell from the photos but the pastries are HUGE! Definitely large enough to share. My friend and I tried: - Everything Bagel Croissant (5/5): This was SO GOOD! The croissant was flaky and buttery, and the cream cheese in the middle was herby and perfectly salty. I wish I could eat this every day. - Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookie (4/5): I liked this cookie but I think it was a little pricey for what it was. There were tons of chocolate chips though, so I would recommend it if you're a chocolate lover! - Apple Almond Croissant (5/5): I looooove an almond croissant and this one did not disappoint. The apples were a nice addition to the almond flavor! Overall I understand the hype behind Rockman! If you were disappointed by your experience when they first opened, I definitely recommend trying them again. Also, definitely bring noise canceling headphones if you're planning to work or read here. When a large group of people came in, it got so loud I was struggling to talk to my friend.

Yelp
A baker's delight/wonderland. Dont expect to get anything basic here. Out of this world options, unique twists without going overboard. Awesome service. Everything is great here but the almond lemonseed poppy cake is decadent delight. And the bagel and cream cheese selects are mouthwatering. Enjoy

Yelp
Rockman bakery has the most unique, delicious pastries. It is the first spot in Austin that I feel could truly compete with a European cafe. I've tried the cardamom bun, kougin amann, churro croissant, date blondie, and sourdough chocolate chip cookie. We were impressed by the huge variety of both savory and sweet items, and how fresh everything tasted. My friend also tried their coffee and said that it was very smooth. I have only visited on weekday afternoons, and there has never been a wait but consistently a good variety of items in the case. All of the employees that I have met have been friendly. Their parking lot is small, with the majority of spaces being paid parking, but there is a decent amount of street parking in the area. The pastries at Rockman's are on the pricier side, but the quality is consistent.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about Rockman. I visited later in the morning on Presidents' Day, so I knew it could be busy due to the holiday. When I walked in, there wasn't a line. The issue was that there were not many pastries left to choose from. I could've walked away and come back another day, but I decided to try the kouign amann, which was light and croissant-like on the inside and gooey crisp on the outside. Definitely recommend. I also got a pecan bar for later that was decadent. The pastries were hands-down delicious. I was pleasantly surprised and glad I actually tried items I might not have. Their latte was also really good. Not to mention, their employee was incredibly nice and answered all my questions. I think this is an easy fix because if they anticipate a crowd on weekends and holidays, they can hopefully increase the amount of pastries in advance so there are not several disappointed people walking in later in the morning. I'll definitely be back to try it a second time.

Yelp
Visited Austin and went with a few friends that have been here previously. Noticed some reviews on the parking. Luckily, we parked on the street behind the area and had no issues. We actually arrived 5-10 mins before it opened and happened to be the first customers that morning. We tried the matcha, vanilla latte, bagels and other pastries. The drinks were decent, but the pastries and bagels were great! The vibes and inside decor were nice. We'd love to come back again to try other pastries. Hopefully, no issues with parking as others have previously mentioned.

Yelp
This is the type of place where worth waiting in line is worth it. The service is great and the pastries are even better. The last few times I've been I've gotten the everything bagel croissant with a center filling of cream cheese. It's SO good. Unfortunately I don't have a picture because I always eat it first. I have to say everything they laminate here is insane! They definitely know what they're doing. You cannot go wrong with any flaky pastries you order. I will say I was a little disappointed in the texture of the bagel but I did like the flavor of the cream cheese my friend got (I think it was like a garlic herb). Side notes to keep in mind: There is limited seating so be prepared to take to-go. There is paid parking!

Yelp
BEWARE OF THE PARKING SCAM! I had an EXTREMELY disappointing experience at this café--not because of the coffee or pastries, but because of the TERRIBLE PARKING SITUATION that cost me a whopping $88 FINE. Let's start with the good: the interior is nice, the pastries are a bit overpriced but tasty, and the coffee is decent. But what's the point of coming here if you CAN'T EVEN PARK without getting fined? We parked in the lot right next to the café, where there were NO CLEAR SIGNS indicating it was paid parking. Across the street, there was a sign with a QR code for payment, but there was NOTHING VISIBLE on the side of the café and bakery. As a result, we unknowingly parked in a private lot and got hit with a huge fine. Turns out, there are only TWO FREE SPOTS, and they have a ridiculous 15-MINUTE LIMIT. What kind of café expects customers to rush in, grab a coffee, and leave in 15 minutes? And to make it even more confusing, these two spots AREN'T EVEN THE FIRST ONES IN THE ROW. So unless you already know these bizarre rules, you're pretty much guaranteed to park in the wrong place and get fined. THIS PARKING LOT IS NOT EVEN RUN BY THE CITY OF AUSTIN. It's privately owned, and based on how casually the café staff reacted when I asked about it, I'm guessing I'm NOT THE FIRST PERSON THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. The employee just said, "Yes, it's a private company, we have nothing to do with it." No shock, no concern, nothing. If they know this keeps happening, why not WARN CUSTOMERS? We sat in the café for THREE HOURS, and no one said a word about it. This whole experience was INFURIATING. An $88 ticket is no small amount, and honestly, it KILLED ANY DESIRE TO EVER COME BACK. If you're considering visiting this place, ask yourself--is it worth the risk of getting fined just for a cup of coffee? I won't be returning, and I hope this review saves someone else from the same frustration.

Yelp
On the continuing hunt for the best bagel in Austin, Rockman came up. A Lot. The line wasn't out the door but there was definitely a wait to order. The time in line was spent trying to find a group that looked ready to leave but not TOO ready. I did spend a lot of looking at their bakers working through the big window they had to look through. When I got to the front of the line I had focused in on their bagels but there were so many other options I got distracted. The Cacio e pepe croissant looked good but I saw their Everything Bagel croissant so I got that instead. Bagel wise I got their pepperoni pizza bagel and their garlic schmear. I asked if there was any 'must haves' and I was told the sourdough chocolate chip and oat crack cookie was popular and the churro croissant was her personal favorite and since it was the last one that day I got it. I'm not a really a coffee drinker so I had their NA spritz with Ghia, a pretty simple drink but one that took a while because the coffee bar was so in the weeds, even after hunting for a table, sitting down and digging into the baked goods I had nothing to drink for a while. Food wise, the pepperoni bagel: it was good, it was tasty but a bagel? It felt more like a stecca. The Everything Bagel croissant was decent, but missing some of that garlic-y/salty flavor. I was still in the mood for savory, not sweet and so I went back up to get their actual bagel and found out they don't slice it-just rip n' dip. I have to say, I don't think their bagels are actually bagels, there isn't that crusty exterior and the interior didn't have that moistness so there wasn't the contrast there. The sweets though were great-that churro croissant was a standout-the flaky croissant crust managed to hold the creaminess inside. The oat crack cookie was as the name suggests, light but sweet. However, the savories were not that good and that's mostly what I was there for and so I'm not sure I'll return anytime soon.

Yelp
Finally got the try Rockman's - well worth the wait and worth going all out for! Parking - went 9am on a Saturday and was able to find street parking. Line - if you go in the morning for the food there will likely be a line out the door. Waited about ~30 mins, made a friend in line and we chatted the whole time about the menu so it was fine. Service - One you get to the counter they are so incredibly friendly and helpful about what to get based on what you're in mood for, what's seasonal and what's popular. Ambiance - colorful inside with a handful of tables to sit at. Food - was SO hard just selected a few things as everything looked incredible, I got a total of 4 things to share. Everything bagel with creamcheese - soooo good. Cacio e Pepe croissant - must have, very unique and yummy! Ginger cookie was perfect and lastly was the kougin amman that was to die for. Soooo worth the wait, can't wait to try more.

Yelp
All told, I liked Rockman, but for the price I don't think it's as good as it could be, which is why I'm going with 3 stars instead of 4. I did show up later in the day (around 1:30pm), so take that into account with this review, maybe the timing affected some things? We ordered a passion fruit & chocolate Kouign-amann. We asked for the pastry to be heated to regain some of its original crispiness. And much of the exterior did have a good crisp! And that nice crispy sugary exterior layer that you expect on something like a Kouign-amann. I have 2 main critiques: 1) the passion fruit & chocolate combo was too sweet for my taste. Normally I hope the passion fruit will add a nice tang that balances the sweeter chocolate, but in this filling, the chocolate was the dominant flavor. Not bad if you really like sweet, but I'd personally like a little more balance. 2) the bottom of the interior of the pastry was a little undercooked. It's probably difficult with so much filling to uniformly cook all the pastry, but for the price, I think it's fair to expect pretty close to perfection. From an interaction perspective, the person who took our order was very friendly, happy to answer questions, and the store itself had a nice modern look to it. Very clean/pristine. It might make good use of some more seating, but we were able to grab a couple high stools near where they were delivering ready items.

Yelp
Visited opening weekend on Sunday and waited over an hour to enter the bakery. While waiting in line, the staff came through and offered chocolate chip cookies, coffee and iced water. They had paper menus that were passed through the line as we waited in anticipation of placing our order. When we got to the front of the line, they had just sold out of the strawberry cheesecake croissant. We got what our eyes desired and ended up with more than 2 people could eat in a morning! Memorable items were the pecan pie bar (shortbread crust was amazing!), sesame bagel with the french onion smear, and the raspberry morning cake.

Yelp
This was a cute coffee shop that was right by our favorite brewery so we stopped in. They serve coffee with in house syrups and pastry's which appear to also be made in house. I had the iced white chocolate praline. It was really good, not too sweet, great flavor and well rounded . However I ordered the larger size which was really small, gratuity was also included already . All together I paid $10 for my coffee which I would definitely expect a larger cup. I always tip having been in the service industry for 10 years however I didn't see anywhere in shop that it was automatically included until going to pay. I'm in the area quite often and would go back however I will definitely keep the pricing vs size in mind and see what other coffee shops are in the area. In this case - size does matter

Yelp
While the baked treats were quite good, I'm not sure I can justify the prices here on a regular basis. My favorite was the savory snail that is $8. I also got a matcha latte here which was quite good. They also have working WiFi if you want to do some work here. Food: Cacio e Pepe croissant - a bit dry, wouldn't order again PBJ cookie - very good Oatmeal cookie - very good Savory snail - delicious Apple almond croissant - very good

Yelp
I recently stopped by at 6 PM, so there was no line, and I was served quickly by the friendly staff. All the pastries were already sold out and I believe the owner said everything was sold out by 11 am. But that was totally fine since I just wanted to try their coffee. I thought they use their own or local coffee beans, but I saw bags of La Colombe beans. I ordered a small 12oz cold brew and that costs $7, and a large would've been $8. I found their pricing to be a bit high. On top of that, a 20% gratuity was automatically added, so my total was a little over $8.40, which felt steep for a simple small cold brew. The coffee tasted fine and I like that they use nugget ice. The coffee shop has a chic yet simple decor, creating a relaxed atmosphere, but despite the aesthetic appeal, the high pricing makes it hard to justify returning regularly for coffee. I hope they reconsider their pricing, especially given the many local coffee spots in Austin offering more unique coffee drinks for under $8 (not including tips).

Yelp
Cute new bakery in East Austin, in a prime spot next to some other heavy hitters. I went on a Friday morning and the line wasn't out the door (but close). Didn't take too long to get my pastries, which was nice. Girls at the counter were super friendly. Got a matcha latte and it took about 10 min (I was given a wait time upon ordering though). Food: I tried the everything croissant (with cream cheese [I think] in the middle), the apple almond croissant, and the chocolate chip cookie. Everything croissant was very good - different but a nice mix of two things. The almond croissant was nice and flaky, but far too sweet and the cookie was a bit peanut buttery, but a solid choice for a sweet treat. The matcha was a beautiful green color, but a bit astringent, especially once the ice began to melt. I put some of their homemade simple syrup in, and it was good prior to the ice, fully melting. The inside is cutely decorated, but not so comfy as to have many people trying to work from here, which was good based on the amount of people in the small space

Yelp
Coffee tastes real natural. Wish I could've tried all the croissants! The churro one was delicious. Line went by fast. Not too many tables to sit but there was bar space.

Yelp
There's a paid parking lot adjacent to Rockman with a few loading zones, which I found super helpful for a pre-work morning pickup. I walked in during opening weekend and they were out of everything pretty early in the afternoon, so I knew I had to come back and I'm glad I did. I got the everything bagel croissant, halva chocolate chip cookie, chocolate coffee cake slice, and a latte with a pump of their in house chocolate chip cookie syrup. Everything was delicious and I'll absolutely be back.

Yelp
Tried out a new place while visiting Austin! As soon as I walked in, the baked goods smelled so good. I got their classic croissant which was nice and flaky. The staff were also very welcoming! I'd come again for a quick grab-and-go bite.

Yelp
Stopped by Rockman Bakery today, and let me tell you, it's worth every bite -- but be prepared to splurge a little! I had the Orange Bun -- a perfect mix of soft, sweet, and citrusy. Then came the Bourbon Chantilly Cake, and it has a smooth bourbon flavor adding an extra indulgence. And oh, the Halva Chocolate Chip Cookie... chewy, nutty, and full of chocolatey goodness. Yes, things are on the pricier side (like many other reviews have mentioned), but you're paying for top-notch quality. Every bite tastes like it was made with love and expert craftsmanship. Heads-up: Get there early! The lines are long, and they tend to sell out quickly.

Yelp
WOW...so so good! I remember watching Amanda Rockman on Top Chef Just Desserts and thinking her desserts look so good. So glad I got to try and I will be back. I got a 2 kouign Aman's one regular and one pecan, a brookie and a sunshine cake. Everything was so good and balanced! Nothing was aggressively sweet which I always appreciate. I loved the pecan kouign aman and the sunshine cake (citrus cake) I got there around 1pm for opening weekend and they were pretty much sold out. Will be back to try the savory items! The one star down was only because after you make a transaction it prompts a tip screen when they automatically add 20% gratuity. There is a lot for parking but you have to pay (seriously pay I saw so many tickets on cars) or street park in the neighboring streets.

Yelp
Beautiful assortment of pastries + friendly staff. However, poor use of square footage only 3 tables in the entire shop. I recommend you come with the mindset of grabbing your pastries to go. Despite the long line (good problem for the business owner) they were pretty efficient in getting your order. The prices are steep, I have been to many French style bakeries and this was VERY pricey, expect to pay around $8.50 per pastry. Some croissants were a little dry, others well balanced with flake and moisture.

Yelp
I absolutely loved the chocolate chip cookies, everything croissant, and ham and cheese croissant! Everything was delicious, and I can't wait to go back and try more. The iced latte was also fantastic. Parking can be tricky, there's free street parking, but you have to pay for the lot right next to the shop. They also have free wifi, but not a ton of seats to work from.

Yelp
When I first tried my desserts, I have to say I was disappointed. Things were crunchier than they looked and didn't taste fresh. However, after leaving the desserts in the car for about 2 hours, they seem to have warmed up a bit and were 5x better! They were softer and the flavors shined a lot more. I loved the filling of the strawberry cheesecake croissant. The Chantilly cake is good but very dense. I've never had a snickerdoodle cookie that thin, it was very unique.

Yelp
The fact you have to pay for parking and there are paper signs reminding you of the fact that theirs a premium for choosing their business says everything. I am buying my coffee elsewhere. Parking is huge in Austin and if this is the type of future for Austin, then we are all doomed.

Yelp
This place was adorable!! They do get a line so I suggest heading there early if you are going to check it out on the weekend. The coffees and pastries were exceptional and reasonably priced for the portion and quality. Everything was unique and flavorful. We were disappointed because we could not order online and by the time we reached the front of the line the bagels were sold out. However, it is a new hot spot so it's understandable but keep it in mind to go early when you go. All the workers were nice and helpful when you order at the counter. Highly recommend!

Yelp
So here's the thing - I LOVE and truly appreciate the variety of pastries offered here that are not the norm, which makes it such a fun experience to try different things. I also fully understand how long it takes to make alot of these pastries - it's no joke and for that, kudos! From the ones that we tasted on my first visit, my favorites were: 1. Chantilly cake - so moist and absolutely delicious 2. Everything croissant - never had anything like this so I really enjoyed this! Wondering what would happen if the cream cheese was throughout the layers vs just in the middle? Yum! 3. Yum Yum Cake - also very different and really tasty with the pecan chocolate layers. Loved the crumble top too. 4. Savory Snail (not pictured) - this was probably my least favorite as the sausage were such tiny crumbles it didn't really come through flavor wise but croissant itself was good! Lastly, tried their gingerbread tea and it was delicious! Can't wait to come back earlier when they haven't run out of so many things! PS: would also prefer more/better seating options

Yelp
Came in 2pm on a Saturday, no line and plenty of pastries left! It was my partner's bday, so we balled out. We got 9 pastries, cost $45 which for the portion size and quality feels reasonable to me. The staff member helping us was great and even sent us home with a bday candle! Loved everything we got, but most memorable choices are for sure the pecan bar, chocolate banana cake, and chantilly cake. We will be back to try the bagels!

Yelp
Rockman Coffee is cool. If it could, it would wear sunglasses inside and at night. I love the motto "Caffiene, Gluten, Sugar, Butter, Booze - Make it nice or make it twice!" Get there early, as they might sell out of your favorites. Parking reflects it's popularity, be prepared to look for neighborhood parking, if the lot is full. I've gone a few times now and here's what I've tried: -ham and cheese croissant - stupid good, usually sold out early. -chocolate banana cake - my favorite nom, so far. Moist, rich but not overly sweet. Perfectly balanced -cacio pepe croissant - meh, could be more peppery and cheesy. -oat crack cookie - crackalicious -Apple croissant - i don't even like apples but stole half of my friends croissant, after sampling it House Coffee was a bit bitter for me but I've yet to try an espresso drink. The croissants are truly a notch above, I don't know that I've ever had a better one in Austin.

Yelp
Delicious and original pastries! They also keep for DAYS. Please bring back the cardamom bun!! That's my favorite. I also love the apple parmesan scone. Today I tried the corn cookie which was also incredible!

Yelp
Rockman has been all over my Instagram so I had to try it! The line while long moved pretty quickly and the servers were all really kind and provided water while we were outside. However I was disappointed to find that the majority of items I wanted were all sold out so I will need to come back sometime. I tried the croissant, chocolate chip cookie, and almond raspberry financier. My favorite was the financier despite it being a last minute pick. It tastes like a softer madeleine cookie and I kept wanting more. The croissant was super dense and wasn't my favorite but I'd like to try some of their others. I was most interested in their bagels but alas those were all gone. All in all everything tasted good but the prices are definitely high and I wish they had more volume of their items to try

Yelp
Great selection of baked goods ... and super friendly staff! Can't wait to go back and get another croissant and cookie but want to try so many more things!

Yelp
Everything I got at Rockman was amazing. The kougin amman is so crunchy and has these caramalized bits all around and yet is chewy inside. The everything bagel croissant has this amazing onion flavor and the herb cheese in the center is really flavorful -- it had this really French inspired taste. And my absolute favorite was the apple almond croissant which had the perfect amount of thinly sliced apples and classic almond flavor with a hint of cardamom. I definitely want to try more things next time but you can't go wrong with any of these three!

Yelp
It's nice to have a morning spot here since the street is filled with bars. Plus if you come in the mornings you get first pick of everything! Rockman offers a spread of laminated pastries, cookies, cakes and bagels. Since I'm a pastry person I chose a few of those including the apple almond croissant, ham and cheese, and sweet rolled snail. Overall they're solid and I consider them on par with epicerie, but Rockman does offer a wider range of savory and sweet flavors. I also appreciated the details taken, ljke with the apple croissant the piping of the almond cream on top and the neat fanning of the apples inside. Also I felt the ham and cheese croissant was the weakest one of the bunch. The mustard was so faint and could've been punchier to liven it up. There isn't a ton of seating inside and feels more of a grab 'n go place. Wouldn't come here to hang or work since the parking lot is paid. Lastly tip is optional now!

Yelp
The baked good were great, absolutely loved the all the options they had! The line was ridiculous though. Also it was pretty annoying that they tag on a tip into the total and verbally tell you when they ring you up. So if you want to remove it you need to tell them verbally. The baked goods are already expensive so that was annoying.

Yelp
Food items were great in a sense that I felt that they were made with thought and care from the team but the first time I arrived over a 45 minutes ahead of it opening and it was still another 30 minute wait after the store opened. The second time I went on a weekday and there was no wait. Price: steep, starting at 8-9 dollars for most baked items. I spent $56 on 6 items on my first visit and on the second visit it was $64 for 7 items including a very basic cold brew. Involuntary 20% gratuity for someone to put your baked items into a box and give you bare minimum service is insane. I really do hope they last in Austin but not with these business practices.

Yelp
The environment is very stiff and not very welcoming. The food was ok, but for the price.. not worth it. And the is not really a bagel.

Yelp
I always enjoy coming here, yes...parking is a pain, but the croissants are super yummy, flaky, and buttery and so are the rest of the pastries. I got the snickerdoodle cookie and normally I'm not a fan of the doodle cookie, but this one was awesome.

Yelp
I had been anticipating the opening of this bakery for a while and was afraid there might be a long line. Tried it out on a Tuesday morning at 9:30, and no wait. Exactly what I expected in terms of quality classic pastries with some creative twists on a few. The koign Amman was delicate and flaky, not too sticky. Vanilla glazed croissant paired perfectly with my latte. Fudge croissant also gets top marks. Atmosphere is casual, staff is helpful, and nothing I ordered failed to impress. 20 perfect gratuity is added to all orders, even takeout. I find this ridiculous for a bakery where the service is essentially a staff member boxing your items. You can ask to have it removed, which I did.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Rockman Coffee and Bakeshop for a while, as I've seen it hyped up on social media. I went in the afternoon and over half the baked goods were sold out, so make sure you go earlier in the day if you want more of a selection. I got the Kouign-amann, which was flaky and soft with a light, satisfying texture. The hot vanilla latte had great flavor (they make all their syrups in-house), especially since they use La Colombe beans. The space was a bit warm, possibly from the ovens or the A/C not working properly. The staff was friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and giving us information about the pastries. They also removed their controversial 20% automatic gratuity, which shows they're listening to customer feedback. It was a little pricey, but you can tell each item was made/put on the menu with thought and intention behind it. I would come again and arrive earlier in the day to try their other pastries!
