The Best New Brunches in Austin Right Now, November 2024

"We’re going to consider the farmers market stand’s new food truck menu as brunch-appropriate since it opened in early September in the Thicket food truck park. This is especially so because it includes egg-topped potato-poblano pepper pierogies paired with pork hash; among other dumpling goods. Its weekend hours start at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Takeout orders can be placed online or in person; there are outdoor dine-in areas." - Nadia Chaudhury

I had the potato pierogis with a side of chicken and pickled cabbage. The chicken was surprisingly really good for somewhere that doesn’t really bill itself as a fried chicken place and made me think this should be their main thing. Pickled red cabbage was also very healing. Both really outshone the pierogis which were not the best I’ve had (not much flavor, texture was kind of off) and when pierogi is in the name I would expect that to be the thing that is really on point. The horseradish flavor in the sour cream was also very overpowering and I would have preferred just normal Smetana. That and 14 bux for everything was honestly pretty steep for such a small amount of food.

Google
I’ve eaten there at least a dozen times. The flavor combos are consistently great. The owner has an impressive culinary background and you can tell a lot of effort went into these dumplings. Easy 5 stars!

Love these pierogis! Creative twists on the Polish staple. We got the pierogi burger and the brunch pierogi. They were so delicious we decided to get an extra to-go bag for home. Cant wait to go back and try more!

As a lifelong foodie, lover of good, no, great flavors, and PIEROGIS, I got the Pierogi Brunch & MAN it is soooo good! I took it home instead of eating it at the food truck park and I regret that as I wanted to sit there and eat more of the pierogis that they have on the menu. They not only smelled absolutely amazing, but are visually so gorgeous and — oh baby — the flavor is beyond amazing on these. New favorite, likely going to go back later this evening for more— they are pretty filling, but it was just THAT good! I can’t wait to try more options off of their menu! Derek was very helpful and kind. He said that the Brunch Pierogis are very good when I mentioned wanting to get them, and he should have said they are amazing! I want to try the OG (as Derek had recommended initially) and the Pork Set next time I go! I am drooling, swooning, and live, laugh, loving Rogue Pierogis <3

Google
This was my first experience with Rogues and I could not be more impressed. I'm a burger girl who is always looking for delicious burgers and this was mouth watering. I was told the burger is made using their kielbasa and I could definitely taste it. Perfect seasoning, perfect char, and all the toppings fit beautifully. The pierogi placed on top was FILLED with potato and added something special to the burger. I will absolutely come back again for this burger and I can't wait to try their other dishes!

My husband and I tried a sandwich, a burger, French fries, and pirogi with potatoes. Everything was very tasty. I recommend this place.

Wow. As a PA resident who grew up on pierogis I was pleased to meet Derek and his food truck at the Thicket. I wish I had gone back to tell him that I really enjoyed my pierogi plate of sour cream and onion with horseradish so I'm saying this now. WELL DONE sir!!! you've brought PA and pierogis to Austin successfully and now I know where to come to fill my cravings of back home.

I love these guys! I doordashed an order of the O.G.set & the Pierogi Burger a couple of weeks prior to today, it was so savory and flavorful! It was my first time getting a taste of the Slavic cuisine! I took my mom to Rouges Over The Top Pierogi for her first time on a Saturday and we ordered the Kielbasa Sausage Roll & Pierogi Burger it was a 10/10 for us! delicious like always and the prices are great for the quality and value that you get! Big shout out to the owner Derek for giving us dessert on the house it was their amazing Royal Blueberry Pierogi! It is served warm with powdered sugar on the top and a sweet blueberry jam like filling. The perfect way to finish off their fabulous choices! Their kind gesture and hospitality really made my day :) amazing experience for both of us trying this amazing cuisine and culture I couldn’t be more proud to have it be at Rouges Over The Top Pierogi! Thank you so much! a million star review if i could!

Yelp
We went slightly late to the food truck park Got the brisket and cheese sandwich. Perfectly smoky brisket, melty cheese, and a toasted bun that holds it all together--this sandwich hit every note. Simple, hearty, and ridiculously satisfying. Would absolutely order again.

Yelp
I tried the new food truck "Rogues" at the Thicket food truck park and was met with warm service and interesting menu selections. Think pierogis, but Texas style. All of their modern flavors sounded interesting, but we opted for the veggie pierogis, which come with olive oil garlic & potato pierogis topped with mushroom "paprikash" and sweet onion puree. The flavors were robust and the pierogis were perfectly fried. We loved the flavor combinations. My only complaint is that I wish their portions came with four instead of three pierogis for maximum share-ability.

Yelp
Meticulous attention to detail is provided to a food that can easily be overlooked. My perogies we perfectly prepared and the sides of red cabbage and grilled onions were a delicious companions. I added a fried chicken leg, which was also perfect. The food truck court has ample shade for dining during hot days. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
So yum! Thought the stuffing would be pork but it wasn't. These were so good and so fun! Like just a mound of random things you would never imagine being good together but was sooo good! Pork was nice and flavorful and the pierogi was good in itself.

Yelp
This food truck is located outside of the Brewtique in Cedar Park. Upon my last visit in June of this year, I brought The Things with me and another guest. We ordered several menu items to ensure we would be able to get a real feel for what this place offered. Let's start with this: If for some unknown reason you don't know what a pierogi is, it is Eastern Europe's gift to the world of dumplings. And while it looks like a Mexican empanada, or an Italian mezzaluna, or even a little like a Chinese potsticker, it's not. Fun fact: While dumplings as such are found throughout Eurasia, the specific name pierogi, with its Proto-Slavic root and its cognates in the West and East Slavic languages, including Russian. However, the pierogies served here put a fresh spin on the traditional versions served throughout Eurasia. Pot Roast Pierogi: This classic comfort food (pot roast) that's wonderful and warming is paired with browned pierogis rendering each bite of the pierogi hearty and complex. The beef for this dish is seasoned and seared, bringing forth hints of pepper, garlic, onion, and parsley. The caramelized onions and pickled onions that sit atop the pierogi give it a kick that pulls the dish together. Kimcheese Pierogi This Pierogi has it all; bacon fried rice, kimchi mayo, and pickled chilies! Bacon fried rice is a delightful dish that combines the smokiness of bacon with the comfort of classic fried rice. When paired in this way with the Pierogi and the mayo, etc., it brings forth both a heartiness and spice that is filling. The owner/operator of this truck, Derek, is hospitable and takes pride in his food, and it shows. It must also be noted that the truck changes its offerings and therefore while those who may read this review, view the pretty photos and may want to stop in to get a Pot Roast Pierogi or the Perigio Taco, it may not be available. But don't let that stop you from ordering something else! #supportlocal

Yelp
I'm usually one to avoid food trucks because I don't know why...but this one is next level. When the menu uses terms like gastrique and shaved onion it can't be bad right? They are located at The Brewtique in Cedar Park Wednesday to Saturday so you can enjoy these with a lovely cold beer or other beverage of your choice indoors with AC. The pierogies are fresh, perfect and tasty BUT the accoutrements are where it's at. We didn't know what to expect really after looking at the menu so we went with a sampling. My friend ordered the pot roast and we were blown away. It comes with a side of roast with amazing flavors of onion, horseradish and just plain savory goodness. You dip your pierogi right in and something magical happens. Warning: you'll probably get addicted. The OG was also fantastic. Pierogies with onions, cabbage, horseradish and beet gastrique. I'm a big fan of dessert and was interested to try a dessert pierogi. Well I didn't regret that at all. I could have eaten all of them by myself but I had to share. They were blueberry cream with a nice powdered sugar dusting and some really nice looking fruit on top. It's a pet peeve of mine when the fruit on top is looking sad or discolored because a nice appetizing piece of fruit means someone cares what their food looks like and tastes like! I can't wait to go back and try the other flavors! Order at the truck or online and they'll text when it's ready. Made to order so it'll be fresh, warm, and beautifully presented with these cute little red/white tablecloth napkins and high quality to go boxes if you need to travel.

Yelp
Pierogi isn't something you often find in Austin and this community is so fortunate to have Rogues! The owner, Derek is incredible to work with and just such a cool person. You can order hot, made to order Pierogi, or frozen bags to take home. I highly recommend!

Yelp
I was lucky enough to go to the food truck opening and try the pierogi the way Derek intended and OMG!!! My friends and I had a little of everything and it was all so tasty and fresh and unique. The guys in the truck were friendly and helpful and I'll be returning soon and often.

Yelp
We have eaten here many times now and I hate that I haven't yet shared my thoughts. The food is incredible!! The chef has an incredible way of pairing flavors and the presentation is gorgeous. We have had the watermelon salad, Summer Veg, Kim cheese, the side tacos and my person fav the sweet potato ice cream. I'm so sorry I don't have photos of them all, but every little bit was savored and enjoyed. Do yourself a favor and go check them out!

Yelp
This place is great! As a Midwesterner, it was great to find a fun spin on a taste from home! check it out whether you have had peirogi's before or not. They will not disappoint.

Yelp
The Pierogis are ok, but very expensive for what you get. Still looking for a good Pierogi house in the north Austin area.

Yelp
Best pierogis in AUSTIN. We grabbed an OG and the carnitas. Both were excellent. Highly recommend finishing with the Blueberry dessert pierogis. Perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. Will definitely be back for more.

Yelp
Delicious, beautifully prepared food and friendly service. Though they have a delightful selection of perogies (savory and sweet!) we enjoy their vegan perogies and to-die-for watermelon salad.
