Rolina Traditional Hainanese Curry Puffs

$2 chicken curry puff. Thin skin, fried crispy without feeling greasy. Filling was ok, has egg, though I’m not sure it adds to it. Had better curry puffs, but this one is ok for a snack.

Was hoping to try both a curry puff and a sardine puff, but unfortunately, they were out of sardine puffs that day. I decided to stick with the curry puff, which was just alright. Size was on the smaller side, taste was pretty standard, nothing particularly memorable. Overall, it was okay, but not something I’d go out of my way for.

Kudos to the young lady for taking over her dad’s legacy. The curry puff may be small but was fully packed with ingredients. Unfortunately, the overall taste wasn’t to my liking, especially the skin that was too one-dimensional. Would like to return to try the other items such as glutinous rice, yam cake and pumpkin cake.

I think I came across this stall on TV previously and had it saved on one of my lists. Since I was at Tanjong Pagar hawker centre for breakfast, I decided to get a chicken curry puff ($2 as at Sep 2024) to try. In general, the curry puff was alright but it lacked the addictive factor that will make me want to try it again.

I have always loved their curry puffs and pumpkin cake. Today I passed by the stall and they were making pineapple tarts for CNY. I bought a bottle to try and simply love it. Pineapple not too sweet (made themselves) and pastry is a little crunchy yet soft enough to melt in the mouth after a few bites. Orders for CNY full so they take walk in purchase only. Recommended to buy a bottle if you are there. Stall owners are very friendly 🙂👍

I am not very sure about the quality of this very well known Hainanese Curry Puff be able to uphold the standard when it was awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand accolade in 2018. Ordered a sardine puff and was extremely disappointed. The photos spoke for a thousand words, the crust was hard, the puff was hollow as there were little fillings, the ingredients were salty & dried. It could be a one-off isolated piece which I was so lucky to have bought it. Would I buy again? May be not.

Small sized curry puff that is packed with filling. The potato is nicely cooked, alongside with approximately one eighth of an hard boiled egg. Outer crust is crispy and not oily. With the given sizing at $2, there might be better possible options.

Been buying their Curry Puffs since 2021 till today even sometime lesser due to work etc. At most one time i spent approximate $30 to $50 on certain visit or so. Sometime more sometime about there.🥰😍 Thin Crust, not so thick. Fresh, Handmade. Generous fillings. Price wise tats reasonable with handmade, time consume, ingredients, oil,gas,electric,rent and many more. Tried their Glutinous Rice and Steam Pumpkin,Yam Cake. Tats good too😍💗 I find their Curry Puff is reasonable. Tried other place but i still chose Rolina as my 1st Choice. Love it so much. Friendly Service too. As i do cook at home and yes with many items increased but when wan to eat or cook still must buy even raw items, fresh items and every where can be expensive wif no complaint and tats me plus service is good and so as a Customer, I will come back To buy again.
