24 Essential Italian Restaurants in Houston

"Romano’s gets a lot of hype for its New York-style slices, but the no-frills pizzeria is also known to have some of the best and heartiest Italian offerings in town. Handhelds like the meatball sub and two-cheese calzone are hard to resist, while the saucy baked ziti has a cult following." - Megha McSwain, Brittany Britto Garley

24 Excellent Houston Pizzerias

"With owners from New York, Romano’s is the place for those seeking out a true slice from the Big Apple. Despite its ritzy River Oaks address, the sights and sounds within the no-frills cafe are true of an old-fashioned pizza parlor. Pies are prepared on fresh dough — baked daily — with toppings that range from traditional pepperoni and Italian sausage to spinach and feta cheese. For a carb-loaded bite, there is the Sicilian deep dish presented in thick square slices. Go for the pizza, but stay for all of the additional Italian eats. Along with cheesy calzones and hot and cold subs, Romano’s offers a legendary baked ziti dinner." - Brittany Britto Garley, Kayla Stewart

The 12 Best Pizza Places in Houston 2024 - Houston - The Infatuation

"Romano’s Pizza near the edge of Montrose and River Oaks resembles the set of a sitcom. No one would bat an eye if a teenager got drenched with an orange soda and then a laugh track piped in through the speakers. Romano’s does pizza New York-style, which feels obvious alongside the classic pizza parlor aesthetic: semi-homespun framed prints of tomatoes, faux-brick facades, scrappy laminate tables. The pizza hits the exact right spot when you want a greasy, no-fuss pie. Grab a few pepperonis to go for a chill night at home." - Chelsea Thomas, Gianni Greene

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! I’ve been coming to Romanos Pizza since 2010. The slice is still huge, foldable, and crisp the way New York-style should be. Sauce isn’t overly sweet, crust has that light chew with a proper crunch at the edge. And it's a fast grab-and-go during hectic lunch hours. I enjoy the linguini with white clam, and it's the kind of garlicky, olive-oil-soaked pasta I enjoy: generous with the clams, both in the shell and tucked between the noodles. Bright heat from the chili flakes and plenty of fresh basil. Simple side salad, creamy dressing, and buttery garlic bread—exactly what you expect and crave from a spot like this. Always a steady crowd, always super-friendly counter service, and always worth the visit. Romano’s hasn’t tried to reinvent anything since my first visit. And that's why it works!

Google
I'm gonna make it quick. Houston is a terrible pizza town. I have no clue and I just don't get it. And it frustrates me to no end. But Romano's is a legit New york style pizza joint. It was thin, crispy and light. The mozzarella sticks were aight.. But the pizza is what I've been looking for, I don't need spectacular, I just want good new york style. Undercarriage was so good If you are looking for a good solid pie, this is it for sure, no glitz or glamor either. Just a good pizza joint making great pizza 🍕

Google
Romano’s Pizza definitely deserves 5 stars for both quality and taste. I ordered the Stromboli and was seriously impressed—the marinara sauce it came with was the perfect match. Rich, flavorful, and just the right amount of tang to go with the cheesy, meaty filling. Everything came out hot and fresh, which made the whole experience even better.

Google
This place deserves every kind word and 5 star rating it gets. Just the best New York Style Pizza in Texas, and on par or above pizza in NY. If you have not eaten here, it probably means you are from New York City, get over it and get in here.

Google
I’m originally from New York City and eating very good Italian food. Food that my family has prepared and wonderful Italian restaurants in New York, It’s been very challenging to find good Italian food here in Texas. However, a friend of mine told me about this restaurant and said it’s the best he’s had and after going here today, I must agree. It definitely reminded me of places I’ve eaten back in New York and the food was really good. The pasta was amazing and they did a great job making the Chicken Parmesan. I would definitely suggest trying this place if you’re looking for good Italian food in Houston. Stay Alert & Be Safe! #SABS #CssOne

Google
Let me tell you, being from the north east I crave good pizza constantly here in Texas. Romanos is probably one of the best and closest New York style pies I have found. And I have tried very, very many. In most cases, I simply choose to make my own pizza at home however, when that isn’t an option or I’m not feeling like doing all the work it’s worth the drive to go up here and get pizza. Do not hesitate, go and try it for yourself. It’s that good.

Jasmin Risen

Google
Went in bc it looked good and i was not disappointed. The pizza is very good. It’s crispy and flavorful. they offer a lot more food and u will definitely be back to try.

Seth Mintz

Google
The best pizza in Houston, TX! For years this spot has held it down as the king of pizza in the H, it’s like being up north, truly the best and I forever love Romanos!

Yelp
I have been around the block fir quite awhile, enjoying Pizza in NYC, Nee Jersey and Massachusetts, mostly all pretty good! However since I've been in this neighborhood for 15 years I'd match my PRIMARY GO TO PIZZA PARADISE, to be Romano's BAR NON! The dough is cooked well, the gravy ( sauce) is sensational and the trimmings are served very well! "mangia la pizza di Romano" Bob

Yelp
Wowwwzaaa ba ba bing!!! The vodka sauce don't quit. I got the vodka sauce pasta with sausage and dammmm dawg that shit was fire. Pizza was good and definitely hit the spot but trust me on this one the pasta is the move here. I have added this to my list of recipes I will steal.....Plankton style. Peace and blessing but seriously dm me the recipe.

Yelp
How haven't I reviewed Romano's? As a New Jersey transplant in Texas, I take pizza very seriously. Walking into Romano's feels like the perfect Italian corner store from my childhood. The people behind the counter aren't overly friendly (which I find authentic). They make a great New York style pie. It's one of my favorite hangover cures. I've had them make 35 pizzas for a work dinner or just picked up a few slices on my way home. They also make an amazing chicken francese. I also sub my ziti out for penne a la vodka (I think it's a 3 dollar upcharge and it's worth it ). The parking sometimes sucks because it shares a shopping center with many popular businesses. Just park in the back of the lot and get some steps in, it'll make you feel better about the carb coma you just committed to. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
The pizza was as expected good. Service did come across a little crude for the great service I have received in Houston so far. Maybe its all part of the NY pizza style dining... idk but the pizza was the star. Just in case you wanted garlic knots they don't have them here. But you can get pizza by the slice. I got 2 slices of pizza and a side salad and paid over 20 bucks. The place was very Diner like in style. Its a nice spot to come and catch up with a friend without great fuss. Drink choices were limited to fountain drinks, beer, and topo Chico. I do appreciate a good too though!I would definitely come back for the pizza alone.

Yelp
Changing my review to 5 stars! I never give 5 stars. Check my reviews. I save 5 stars for the equivalent of a Golden Buzzer on AGT. Why now? Well.... First time tonight I tried their pizza. OMG! This might be my new favorite pizza place in town. The crust is amazing! Great sourdough flavor. Perfect thickness. Perfect crunch. Perfect flavor. Just perfect! A little on the expensive side for a 2 topping pizza, but well worth it. I still stand by the chicken picatta being delicious. But now I have to pick between pizza and chicken when I go there. For a Saturday night I was surprised they were able to prepare my pizza with a minimal wait. As always, they pump out food fast, fresh, and piping hot! The staff is always friendly. They make small talk with you. They genuinely seem like they enjoy working. How can they not when they create perfection like that pizza!!! I love the casual vibe. Plenty of tables. Could get a little noisy, but who cares. It's the right vibe for the right type of place. Do yourself a favor, and indulge in Romanos Pizza ASAP!

Yelp
After moving to Houston, one of the things I missed most was NY style pizza and Romano's was among the first recommendations I received. River Oaks was the last place I'd think to find it, but I'm pleased to report it's the closest I've found to the real thing. By NY standards, Romano's is spacious (#1). There is ample seating left and right with plenty of parking to boot. It's clean in here with lots of natural lighting. Solo diners and groups would thrive here, though I suspect that the takeout game is more frequent than the rest. Some immediate positives is that they sell by the slice, which is not common in Houston. They also use real pizza ovens, which is old school but produces the best crust versus all the other faux-NY spots that use a broiler to brown and crust up the cheese. They also have a whole slew of guys kneading dough, assembling pies, and cranking out fresh ones constantly. There is a bit of flop in the crust, proportionate ratio of cheese and toppings, a well seasoned sauce, and a nice thin-crust layer that passes off like something I'd see on anything in NY. The taste is good for Houston standards, but average for something back home.. A slight let down is their largest pie is only 16 inches, which is somewhat modest for large pizza standards. I appreciate that they also have Sicilian pies, a slew of sandwich options, calzones, and pastas. They have some eye-talian specialties such as the veal florentine, chicken francese, and even a veal parm. I appreciate the chef specials, sauage and peppers, and pasta options ranging from ziti to tortellini and lasagna. The downside is that like everything else, it can get pricey. A plain pie is only $20 for a large, but with a few toppings it's $36. The special version of their Sicilian is close to $50 and the dinner specials are all $25+ for each plate. They do provide a slight discount for cash, which I recommend for everyone. Owners Frank and Vinny are from Queens (#2) and although removed from the borough for the last few decades have done a great job in maintaining some semblance of home and ultimately, providing a service for those of us who miss it most. ____________ (#1) Almost feels like a pizzeria in Florida. (#2) Ozone Park?

Yelp
Great location to have homemade pasta! Clean & small area to have lunch & dinner. Serve plenty when ordering pasta meal (includes salad, garlic bread, & pasta on the side when ordering the chefs special pasta) The chefs & employees were very kind & accommodating. & much flavor to the food!

Yelp
I ordered 3 slices of Pizza tonight togo; Plain Cheese, Chicken & Mushroom and Sausage & Black Olives. Each slice was very delicious, fresh, juicy and just like a good NY type from NYC. The crust was toasty and had that oven vibe flavor with some good crisp. The sauce was mild and a little sweet n also tart. The cheese was spotted in appearance, rich and good quality. The plain cheese and chicken-mushroom slices were for me and I loved both. The chicken was mild, but full of smooth poultry taste and cooked well. The mushrooms were great and obviously the plain cheese was great on its own too. I am also a big fan of the vodka pasta, panna pasta and chicken piccata with red sauce pasta here. Great, friendly and welcoming service again.

Yelp
First things first. Just because someone is from NYC by way of Italy does not mean they are pizza experts. After all, there are plenty of Texans who don't know (you know what) from Shinola about smoking a brisket. But these guys produce legit NY-style pizza. This is a counter-order joint from which I witnessed a dude tossing dough. I was also able to start a tab for beers. There is nothing fancy about the atmosphere, but it is clean and there were plenty of available tables on our visit. Bathrooms are also clean. The pizza here is the epitome of NY-style... crisp yet foldable crust with a slight yeasty flavor, sweet sauce (some of the best I've had), and the perfect amount of real mozzarella. I had pepperoni and mushrooms on my half of the pie. Delicious. My wife was born in Manhattan, raised in the Bronx and spent many years in New Jersey. I spent a few years up there myself, and Romano's is better than many of the pizza joints we frequented there. And the service is a hell of a lot more polite! ;-) I've had this place bookmarked for quite some time, and we drove 45 minutes just to eat here. It was totally worth it ... especially if you are a displaced Yankee who is jonesing for authentic NY-style pizza.

Yelp
Romano's had been on my pizza to-do list for some time. I'm not sure what took me so long to check it out. Honestly, it was probably my inability to believe a spot between TJ Maxx and Marshall's could be pumping out top notch pies. But they are. I love a good New York style pizza and Romano's has that covered. From the dough to the sauce to the pepperonis, just a great to-go pizza all around. And to their credit, the parking lot makes it really easy to get in and out. The only negative: unlike TJ Maxx and Homegoods, you're not likely to come away with a steal. At the same time, pizza prices have been steadily on the rise, but you have to justify that you could get two chain pies for the price of one Romano's. That aside, these pizzas are not to be missed.

Yelp
Being generous with my 3 star review as I love their food and they are the nicest people there. But we've ordered Uber Eats multiple times (about once a month) and the calamari appetizer just keeps getting smaller and smaller. Set at $15 (increased to a couple more dollars because of Uber Eats up charge), this is just not worth the money for the portions we received. Our other favorites are their chicken parm and meatball hero's which are both tasty. But truly, the portion size of this was definitely a disappointment. In the future, I would not order delivery and just go straight to the store and order a slice of pizza. Can't go wrong with that and it tastes better fresh and hot.

Yelp
If you're ever craving NY style pizza, this is a great place that sells by the slice. Hits the spot!

Yelp
Barstool Pizza Review score 7.4 Pizza was pretty good. Very similar to what you would find in the NJ/NYC area. Only thing where I would knock is the toppings portions. The onions were heavy handed and the sausage was a touch on the under. Vodka sauce was pretty good as well. Pasta was cooked properly. Service was prompt and easy. Location has a surprising amount of seating.

Yelp
This pizza was delicious and reminded me of pizza I had back in the 80's when I hung out at the mall. The shopping center parking lot is super busy and crowded, which was a turn off to me, but once inside, it soon was all better. It's counter service, so step right up! The employee that took our order was super friendly. We ordered the large pepperoni & mushroom pizza with extra cheese. It didn't take long for the pizza to come out and it was piping hot when it did. Like I said, the taste reminded me of my favorite pizza place at the mall that we would eat at back in the 80's, so it was a nice trip down memory lane. I would definitely eat here again. There was ample seating inside and it was a super casual vibe!
google avatar

Chelsea B.

Yelp
Came here for a work retreat and really enjoyed my meal. The menu is small and straightforward, which is nice because good food doesn't need to be complicated! For the price of a meal here you get a steal! Many plates you could easily share with two people. The stuffed eggplant is a cheese and eggplant lovers' dream! Their garlic bread is so good you won't want to share the basket, so if you have a small group, I'd order an extra basket. Seating can be a little tricky if you are with a large group, but the staff are helpful and accommodating.

Yelp
This is our go to for Italian delivery in Houston. Pizza is as close to Ny as we've found (husband is a New Yorker) Recently we've discovered how good everything else is too! We love the chicken parm sub, the pastas, the chicken Marsala. Good quality Italian restaurant with an endless menu of options, service/delivery is always fast & our order has never had an error. Big Romano's family here
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
Really great spot for some quick Italian. We each had dinner salad ($6 each) and split the chicken parm which was huge. Enough chicken and spaghetti to fill us up. Bonus was the complimentary garlic bread which was tasty with the marinara sauce. Will go back for sure! Staff were all friendly. Next time will try their pizza.

Yelp
Intro: I read an article in the Houston Chronicle about the best pizza spots in Houston. Romano's was on the list. Located in a large shopping center, the parking lot can get busy but you'll find an open spot. I stopped by on a Friday evening for some takeout. Located just a few minutes away from my office, I picked up a pizza and brought it back to my office. Ambiance (4/5): Romano's is a relatively small restaurant and it was full on a Friday evening. They have an open kitchen concept so you can see them making your pizza and the other Italian dishes they have on the menu. The restaurant gives off a friendly, neighborhood restaurant type of vibe. Small but comfortable. Service (4/5): While I didn't dine in, picking up my easy was a quick and easy process. I paid at the counter and my pizza was ready on time. The cashier was friendly. They do charge an extra fee for credit card transactions which was a bit of a turn-off for me as a customer. You get the business reason but I don't like merchant fees being passed on to me. Food (4/5): While not my favorite pizza in Houston (Luna Pizzeria and Gypsy Poet have my heart), this is a quality pizza. I went with a large cheese pizza. Simple yet a classic. It lasted for multiple meals. The crust was slightly too thick for my taste but the pizza sauce and cheese were delicious. A cheese pizza done well. Drinks (N/A): Only pizza for me on this visit. I am on a quest to try all of the quality pizza spots in Houston. If you are too, Romano's should definitely be part of your list!

Yelp
1st time here. Service is fast no nonsense. Had spaghetti w/italian sausage. Pasta perfectly Al dente but they do not drain the pasta properly. Had to pour water off plate into salad bowl. Sausage a little over done but the taste of all was delicious enough to offset the rest. Will be coming back. Ambiance strip mall Italian family friendly. Lots of takeout pizzas and dinners. Order at register, take #, get your own drinks and silverware. They delivered our salads and garlic bread pronto. Only place I've been that has garlic powder along with oregano at each table with the regular Parmesan, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. Nice touch for customization!! Just say yum to whole experience. Only reason it five star was the watery pasta (pet peeve of mine bcuz sauce doesn't stick to pasta then).

Yelp
Tasted like pizza sauce on a cracker. Zero flop, flat as a board. Small, crunchy crust with zero softness. Very disappointing - had high hopes as Houston's highest rated pizza via barstool

Victoria R.

Yelp
This week I picked up from Romanos twice. The 1st visit was close to a 4.5 stars. I ordered the Italian hot sub for the first time and it was spectacular...so much so I thought about it again and recommend we order it again specifically based on the wow taste even though it's a $20.00 sub which is pretty steep BUT if "real wow flavor" I'm cool paying for any overpriced sub. The 2nd pickup was a 1 star. The Italian sub was NOT the same. It was OK but not the spectacular wow it was in the first visit. They used less dressing, meat seemed less fresh, and the dressing was watered down compared to the first visit. Consistency is everything when it comes to food and in one week the difference in the two subs was unfortunate and disappointing. In addition to the let down in flavor....they charged me 1.95 per sub more than doordash stated the pickup price would be and a 2.00 admin fee? So basically they charged me 6.00 more than what I would have paid IF I ordered the exact same items through DoorDash vs ordering directly through them. When I brought this to their attention...we checked their board menu which does NOT list the Italian sub so we could not verify price, their own website does not list the Italian sub either which is very questionable. They gave me 1.00 plus tax back per sub and then turned away from me as if everything was solved. 1.00 plus tax is the Doordash DELIVERY price (21.00 per sub) NOT the Doordash PICKUP price (20.00 per sub). So basically I paid more for less for an average tasting Itatian sub for an overpriced $20.00 that i was charged $22.00 for. Very disappointing. Total let down in flavor and business practices.

Yelp
I'm extremely disappointed with Romano's Pizza. I went there today with my four gift certificates, only to be told they were expired--despite there being no mention of any expiration date. These gift certificates were given to us every year by our property manager for Christmas, and with two kids, I hadn't had the chance to use them until now. I've used similar older gift certificates at Trellis Spa, Zara, and Cinemark without any issues. How can it be fair for a gift certificate to expire? I just don't want to eat any of their pizzas now.
google avatar

Yelp
It's always comforting to know that old favorites are still open for business and doing well. We visited Romano's recently and their pizza and antipasto salad are still tasty. Nestled in a strip center on W. Gray, you may not notice it, but it is a great lunch spot. Pro tip: Get a serving of lasagna to go to heat up for tomorrow's lunch!

Yelp
Tastes like real NYC Pizza. Crust is amazing. Ingredients are fresh. What else can I say?
google avatar

Tim G.

Yelp
Service was on point and friendly, the food was amazing. Veal parmigiana and pizza with green peppers, mushrooms and Italian sausage.

Kareena B.

Yelp
Excellent NewYork Style pizza! The Fettuccini Alfredo had extra sauce which made it 10X better!! #ILikeItSaucy Definitely would eat here again!
google avatar

David D.

Yelp
NY Style Pizza in Texas!!! Owner is from Queens and it shows. Pizza crust was crisp (not burnt), excellent under carriage, perfect sauce to cheese ratio. It is expensive BUT worth it. Can't stand Marcos - that's the staple pizza in Houston. We had a slice of plain, a slice of pepperoni and a slice of Romano Special. All were delicious!
google avatar

Paula W.

Yelp
I must honestly say to his is the best place ever for pizza and spaghetti. The service is super and awesome. And great place to enjoy with my husband .
google avatar

Ricky A.

Yelp
Great pizza . Sauce 8.5/10. Cheese 8/10. Crust 10/10. No doubt will be a stop next time we are in town. Didn't try anything else on their menu except their pizza. Hopefully our stomachs are empty to try something other than pizza.
google avatar

Ivy L.

Yelp
Wow! I felt ripped off when I got my Romano's order. Both the fiancé and I were bewildered as to why this place had such amazing reviews and kept being recommend to us. First of all, the ridiculous price! I ordered my pies off UberEats but they were tiny and super thin crust! How is that tiny Romano's pizza $32?! Say what?! Both my pies ending up costing $60 and they were significantly smaller than other places we've been. The toppings were not anything special, didn't even taste all that high quality. The crust was thin and flavorless! I can make better crust at home. We were into pretty upset with this meal, and that doesn't happen very often. Safe to say, we would not be patrons of Romano's again.
google avatar

Alan F.

Yelp
That was quite simply the best pizza I have had since living in Texas for the last three years! This pizza brought me right back to growing up in New Jersey and hanging out at the corner pizzeria! This is a must go! Thank you for creating such great memories for me!
google avatar

Diana N.

Yelp
Was craving a slice of pizza, and this was highly suggested on a Facebook foodie group. Bf and i got 2 slices (1 pepperoni, 1 cheese) for $9.20 after tax. Cheese pizza starts at $3.75, and it's $1 per topping. Supreme starts at $7, and although it looked good, seemed way too pricey for 1 slice. Slices are very thin NY style. It satisfied my craving and it was "alright" but nothing special. They do heat it up for you in the oven so it came out super hot. They also charge extra for credit card, and it was kind of hot and humid in the restaurant. Located in a shopping strip with plenty of parking so that's a plus.
google avatar

Dan N.

Yelp
Sorry Houston, but you really need to up your pizza game. THIS is considered the best pizza place in the city? It's below average at best. Ordered 2 slices of supreme for $14. They take a slice of cheese from the counter, slap a bunch of flavorless toppings on it, then heat it up. Toppings tasted like bland mush and fell all over the table as I was trying to eat. Crust had a good crunch and undercarriage but was definitely not authentic NY style. Overall, the pizza was bland, overpriced, and not worth your time. Toppings appear to have come out of a can. For $7/slice, you can chop up some fresh mushrooms. You can literally get higher quality ingredients from Dominoes. Once in a while, you eat somewhere and you feel ripped off. This was one of those situations. Won't be returning. Fell victim once again to yelps review inflation.

Yelp
My husband and I have been dining regularly at Romanos since they opened the first little spot next to the movie theater (now Marshals). My youngest child (son), now 28' was a wild 18th mo old we'd corral inside the booth or he'd run all over the place. So many memories and such wonderful proprietors in the families of Len and Frankie. I can't imagine life without weekly (sometimes twice) delicious authentic Italian food from Romanos. We are still finding new favorites on the menu. Do yourself a favor and try Romano's if you are one of the few in Houston who hasn't tried it yet. You will not be disappointed.
google avatar

Jackie K.

Yelp
For what it is, Romano's Pizza is good--we had a good, basic pepperoni pizza, with a good, basic side house salad. Nothing fancy, but it was good.

Mick B.

Yelp
Originally, my favorite pizza in Texas was Home Slice in Austin. I would visit my brother and we'd eventually make our way there. The pizza is very good, especially for a former NY'er. Then, my daughter tried Romanos Pizza and told me it was possibly better than Home Slice. I had to find out. Mamma Mia! Pizza is NY perfect (even though they are originally from Jersey! LOL) but their pasta dishes are delicious, too!!!. Nice salads, fast service, clean, clean, clean restaurant. I love it!

Tim B.

Yelp
This pizza shop severs pizzas that are both great in size and in taste. Definitely won't be disappointed

Yelp
we have passed this place numerous times when shopping in this plaza, until we finally decided to go in for a late lunch and we were actually craving pizza. we ordered a half cheese and half pepperoni pie and I must say This pizza very was very delicious, we really enjoyed it! the crust was delicious. we asked for a side of their marinara sauce so we can dip our pizza in because thats how we did it back in New York it was so good! our pizza craving was satisfied and we instantly loved this pizza place, its far from New York pizza but near close for being a pizza spot here in the Houston area. I wish they would of had garlic knots on the menu that would of been great. This place is a bit pricey but the ingredients were fresh and good quality that you can tell. we Would definitely eat it again when we are in the area.

Yelp
Really liked Romanos! They had some creative pizza options (ex: a Halloween option) in addition to your standard pizzas. I believe it's family owned but either way when we went the people working were really kind and talking to us when it wasn't packed! Have been there multiple times and whenever it's not too crazy they love talking with their customers. Once we ordered a couple pizzas to go and one was ready slightly before the other and we absolutely crushed the first pizza before bringing the other home - the pizza is good quality and we always love getting something from romanos. It is in a shopping strip so there's plenty of parking around which is really nice! It's a great spot in Montrose and would recommend trying it out.

Yelp
Great service. Fresh pizza, good vibes. I had a wonderful experience here on a saturday afternoon. I had just finished up shopping and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat. I ended up here with a friend and we were so satisfied with how friendly the staff was and how quick our pizza was brought to us. Definitely would recommend to those who want a good vibe and good pizza. Oh and you can add any toppings to your slice :)

Yelp
The best Italian food in Houston. Sicilian pizza reminds me of my many years in NYC. A must eat location

Yelp
Great food always no matter what you order. Favorite food is the Beef Cannelloni and the Margarita pizza with ham. Delish!

Yelp
Game changer and my favorite for the authentic ingredients, NY style pizza, amazing pasta, house salad is the best simple Italian salad in town, there's nothing they do not make to perfection here. However, above the food (if possible), is the first-class service at Romano's. This is a favorite of my mother and I's for a slice and wine and shopping. My father loved to meet me here 10-years ago when he was in town for meetings. It is quiet enough to get work done, share a date-night meal, or relax and unwind. The cousins that own it, provide the Italian family touch. I love sharing with them milestones and they know all their customers - thank you!

Yelp
Decidedly average. Not bad, just OK. Thin crust was a plus and the pepperoni and sausage was good. Just lacked anything that stood out. Garlic bread was subpar as were the cheese sticks. Would order again if it was the only thing available, but would look for an alternative if I have one.

Yelp
This is where they filmed the movie Romanosing The Stone. Pretty good pizza by Houston standards, but pretty bad by Northeastern standards for sure. Still I don't hate it, and I enjoy coming here now and again for some tasty food. I pretty much avoid Pizza when I'm in Houston for obvious reasons, but this place is one of 10 better options within the city. However I have to lower them down from the 4 or 5 star rating I was going to give them, considering they're in Houston, to a 2-star rating, because I got a phone call in the middle of my lunch and I went outside to take it because it was an intense phone call, and I left my drink and my slice *and my car keys and hoodie* on the table. And when I came back in (less than 5 mins later), the car keys were on the table and somebody had thrown away my drink and slice. I was gone for no more than 4 minutes, maybe even 3. It wasn't even busy. Like literally less than a quarter of the tables were taken. Mad as hell. There was a line, everyone looked busy, nobody seemed friendly, and throwing away my (not too cheap) slice and drink and leaving the rest of my stuff there at the table? Unheard of and unforgivable. I could have easily been in the restroom, as it is I was standing out front. Still mad about it and never returned because of that.
