13 Best Pizza Places in Houston - Houston - The Infatuation

"Romano’s Pizza near the edge of Montrose and River Oaks resembles the set of a sitcom. No one would bat an eye if a teenager got drenched with an orange soda and then a laugh track piped in through the speakers. Romano’s does pizza New York-style, which feels obvious alongside the classic pizza parlor aesthetic. Think of semi-homespun framed prints of tomatoes, faux-brick facades, and scrappy laminate tables. The pizza hits the exact right spot when you want a greasy, no-fuss pie. Grab a few pepperonis to go for a chill night at home." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

24 Essential Italian Restaurants in Houston

"Romano’s gets a lot of hype for its New York-style slices, but the no-frills pizzeria is also known to have some of the best and heartiest Italian offerings in town. Handhelds like the meatball sub and two-cheese calzone are hard to resist, while the saucy baked ziti has a cult following." - Megha McSwain, Brittany Britto Garley

24 Excellent Houston Pizzerias

"With owners from New York, Romano’s is the place for those seeking out a true slice from the Big Apple. Despite its ritzy River Oaks address, the sights and sounds within the no-frills cafe are true of an old-fashioned pizza parlor. Pies are prepared on fresh dough — baked daily — with toppings that range from traditional pepperoni and Italian sausage to spinach and feta cheese. For a carb-loaded bite, there is the Sicilian deep dish presented in thick square slices. Go for the pizza, but stay for all of the additional Italian eats. Along with cheesy calzones and hot and cold subs, Romano’s offers a legendary baked ziti dinner." - Brittany Britto Garley, Kayla Stewart

Romano’s Pizza - Review - Montrose - Houston - The Infatuation

"Romano’s Pizza near the edge of Montrose and River Oaks resembles the set of a sitcom, like somewhere a show’s teenage main character would accidentally get drenched with an orange soda or unsuccessfully hit on a cameo-appearance cheerleader, all over the background of a piped-in laugh track. Romano’s serves New York-style pizza, which feels obvious alongside the classic pizza parlor aesthetic: semi-homespun framed prints of tomatoes, faux-brick facades, scrappy laminate tables. The pizza is also pretty good, and hits the exact right spot when you want a greasy but well-made pie without any fuss. Grab a few pepperoni pizzas to go for a chill night at home, or a couple supremes whenever a sportsball game happens, or find your bliss and go in a whole pie by yourself on a nice day at the park. Romano’s won’t judge you. photo credit: Liz Silva photo credit: Liz Silva photo credit: Liz Silva photo credit: Liz Silva Pause Unmute" - Chelsea Thomas
