The 24 Best Restaurants In Madrid - Madrid - The Infatuation

"Roostiq is a Spanish restaurant that focuses on farm-to-table cooking—more specifically, wood-fired dishes made with local ingredients—and could fit any occasion. There’s a busy bar zone and a calmer sit-down area in back that works for practically any mood, like a group get-together, birthday dinner, or casual post-shopping snack and drinks. Each dish is prepared simply, to let the natural flavors of the meat, seafood, and vegetables shine, rather than being smothered in sauces and spices. Order the roast chicken sourced from Roostiq’s very own Spanish farm, the acorn-fed ham, and the roasted peppers, but don’t forget about the warm bread for dipping into the restaurant’s own cornicabra olive oil, which you can also purchase on the Roostiq website." - lori zaino

21 Best Restaurants in Madrid

"There's lots to say about Roostiq, the sleek fire-cooking hotspot in Chueca district, but “pork cracklings and Champagne” might be enough: This wham-bam combo has had local food writers drooling since the restaurant's 2018 inception. But Roostiq isn't just another tapas spot with a viral dish or two; it's a new breed of restaurant, an asador (Spanish barbecue house) redefined for the 21st century that's all about the fuego, which you can smell the moment you walk through the door." - Benjamin Kemper

Google
Really great dinner overall! Food was tasty and the staff were super friendly. The roasted spinach was a bit bitter, but everything else was spot on. Definitely recommend the truffle mashed potatoes.

Google
This is a truly organic experience, the ambience is perfect, the staff were attentive and friendly, we had steak and bith were cooked to perfection, with melt in the mouth sides that accompanied the meal- we paired the food with a wonderful red wine and the desserts were truly worth every bite

All Amazing and incredible. Went to have a drink and Maycol and all the bar staff was so attentive, polite and great. Good salty high quality almonds with my drinks to start First one with Torreznos: expectacular the oven flavored keeping it real, crunchy and on point, just amazing. Second: Ordered a spicy Pizza, suggested by Maycol that exceeded my expectations. I can say is way better than any other pizza around the same price, even expensive ones. Is the perfect balance when you are hungry and want something fresh, affordable and terrific. quality + fresh dough at the point. Amazing olive oil. Third: this was challenging, first time I tried a tiramisu so great and creative. Served by Jesus Himself, keeping the original recipe at point with excellent cocoa and no coffee liquor, is the original recipe served in a new fashion way that will blow my mind, next time definitely I will try the cheese cake. All the staff: many thanks, had been one of my best experiences eating great good concept.

Roostiq’s sleek, moody dining room sets the stage perfectly for a meal that’s all about putting the food front and center. With dramatic lighting highlighting each table, the atmosphere feels modern and sharp, with just a touch of flair. Service The staff are courteous, friendly, and know their menu inside and out. They’re happy to guide you through the farm-to-table offerings, ensuring you make the most of what Roostiq has to offer. The Food The food is where Roostiq truly shines. Their farm-to-table approach is evident in every bite, with incredibly fresh ingredients that deliver bold, well-balanced flavors. Most of the menu revolves around dishes cooked on a fire pit or wood oven, and it works beautifully. The pizza deserves special mention—and its 2024 title as Spain’s #1 pizza. The dough is perfectly textured, the tomato sauce rich and flavorful, the burrata creamy and indulgent, and the basil crisp and fragrant. It’s a masterclass in simplicity done right. Overall Roostiq delivers on atmosphere, service, and especially food. Whether you’re here for the celebrated pizza or to explore the rest of the menu, you’re in for a memorable meal. It’s a must-visit for anyone who appreciates quality ingredients and thoughtful cooking.

Google
I just found this place wall king in the area. With our a reservation and being one perfect only in a busy night that we’re kind enough to accommodate me. Good, drinking and general ambiance where great, no rush. Also we those who come from Canada and USA where everything is just timing, here is not rush. Customer service where great and there were some details here and then, then make it up generous. Very recommended

Google
Excellent service, delicious food, highly recommended restaurant. We love the pork with crispy skin, the pepperoni pizza, ribeye steak, cheesecake, and tiramisu. The turbot fish was good but could be better with more flavor.

Google
Nice, comfy restaurant with excellent service. It is really beautiful to see the roast of the meat and the pizza oven from your table. Deco is fabulous. Our top three dishes: 1. Torreznos 2. Pizza Roostiq 3. Cheesecake Happy with this visit, we'll be back soon

Google
Decent food though the calamari was a touch chewy. The appetizer was delicious as was the bocadillo - amazing. Super fun place overall and great service, but with such a big menu I'd recommend sticking with the most ordered bites!

Yelp
Excellent food and service. The pizza was outstanding! Wine was great and we all had delicious food!

Yelp
I made reservations at this place for our first night in Madrid. Dinner starts at 8-10pm in Spain, something I am not used to. I thought I had the best artichoke in Rome but the one I had here is even better. Order this!! It was seasoned perfectly with the right amount of pink Himalayan sea salt. We ordered a lot of food but these are the ones I highly recommend: - Roostiq Pork Cracklings - Flamed Clams (one of the best I ever had) - Artichokes (great way to get some veggies in while on vacation) Note that if you want bread: it is $3pp. It is huge and I had to giggle when another patron at the next table said...whoa, that is some serious bread. Lol. Service was attentive and friendly. One tiny complaint is that he tried pushing us to order more. At 10pm, how much can one eat.

Yelp
This is a great place for a comfortable, nice dinner in central Madrid. We met friends for dinner. They go to Roostiq on a regular basis, enough to know the owners and management. We had a lovely experience! There's a nice wine list, and we enjoyed a couple bottles of red wine recommended by our server. We tried: the crispy pork, the steak for 2, pizza, french fries, and roast veggies. Everything was delicious. Everything was cooked in their Italian pizza oven, what a great way of cooking food to perfection.

Yelp
If you are looking for a nice dinner place in Madrid, this is the place to be. You might at first feel like you step into a bar, but it is a restaurant. We ordered fish, steak, pizza, and delicious clams. Everything is great. We ordered bread on the side, and it tasted good, but later on, we found out the clams come with 4 pieces of bread as well. So just to keep that in mind. My favorite is the clams. It is a must-have.

Yelp
How this place has over 4 stars is beyond me. The chicken thigh with. Sauce was not edible. Wedding rubber chicken would be best description. Steak was bland. Artichoke heart was only redeeming thing. Also annoyed got sat in front area by bar when there were two tops in main area. Avoid place.

Yelp
Food is extraordinary, high quality ingredients very well executed!! The torrejas , the chicken , the pluma ibérica and tartar de queso are a must !!!

Yelp
Arrived and got seated, ordered eggs and caviar, crackling pork and the picahna beef. Eggs and caviar were ok, could have added a dash of salt, chips that came with it was not seasoned at all. Crackling pork was good. Picahna beef ordered medium was tough as it gets, we ate or tried to at least eat half of the plate but man the meat was tough as a muther... we got the check as we were late to a flamenco performance. Told the waiter the beef was tough and well, he gave us a free truffle instead , so much for quality of food. Would I go.back? Recommend? Probably not, better off going to a different place that would stand by the quality of ingredients and food. By the way, prices were not cheap. 3 items with water was €101.

Yelp
I didn't quiet get it what the Roostiq suppose to be. Located near the Gran Via, was it Italian, fancy or what? Service was nice and food was overall good. Unfortunately all on the pricier side for what it was at the end. Ok, the tenderloin steak was awesome and made it up the weird tuna thingy that just tasted like old fish (not fresh). Pizza came from a wood-fired oven, good but just a pizza at the end.

Yelp
I went to Bar Roostiq which is a few blocks away. Similar menu, no pizza. I will be returning as I will dream about the Torrenznos appetizer (pork cracklings). The service was superior top notch with great advice and nice touch for my husband's birthday. Would love to try the main restaurant during my short stay.

Yelp
I feel this experience could've been 3 stars with different waitress. I speak a little bit of Spanish, enough to be able to order and communicate the rest of the restaurants and shops in Madrid, but this waitress seemed to be annoyed that I wasn't fluent. She asked quick and wordy questions the entire time, knowing I wouldn't understand completely, she gave me condescending stares as I spoke back and added no pleasantries the entire time. She simply let me order and then turned her back and walked away, every single time. I wasn't sure what we did to upset her. We also watched her make touch points at every table around us (she had 4 tables total) and never check on us except to bring food. We waited 24 minutes between her getting our drink order and food (yes we started timing it eventually because it was getting ridiculous). I know the Europeans are used to a more relaxed and drawn out dining experience but she checked on every table around us every couple of minutes, just not us. It just made the whole experience feel weird. Anyways, the food was fine. We were excited to try the pork appetizer but we found it WAY too crunchy, only comparable to chewing on glass, my friend had to stop after two pieces because he thought he'd crack a tooth. It's also mostly fat and that hard breading. The pizza was good but pricey and soggy in the middle. Drinks were good, but tiny and pricey as well. I'd say you can skip this place

Yelp
Well I think this restaurant was a little over rated but it was good . I had a steak that was carved on the plate that was very good and the mashed potatoes were simply awesome . My wife and son both had pizza , which I thought was ok but not worth the hype . The bread was rock hard and over cook , and not was that good . Desert was very good as we had two and split . Service was ok , nice and polite and Attentive to a degree. I like the restaurant as it was small and quiet when we arrived but as the crowd filter in it got loud and lively .

Yelp
Great place, steak was fantastic and cooked to the correct temperature. The cheesecake was the best

Yelp
Our first stop when we got to Madrid. Like most places in Madrid the place opens later then I'm use to in other cities. The food was great and the service was also great. One of my best food experience in Madrid and it wasn't that expensive. My only regret right now is that I didn't go back to try more items on the menu.

J B.

Yelp
wow we went for dinner last night because the reviews were so good and it did not disappoint. it's not really an italian restaurant but they do have delicious thin crust pizza and their pork cracklings appetizer was ridiculously delicious. highly recommend. bar tender was nice as well. our waiter was a bit snobbish but did well.

Yelp
Good, but not a cheap place. This was my first stop upon landing in Madrid 'cause it was close AND recommended by the Airbnb host. They were about to close for siesta, but accommodated us for certain parts of the menu - primarily charcuterie/pizza. Pizzas were ~12-13EU and of course, I had to get wine! Pizzas were very good and I only ate half. They charged 2EU pp for bread and knowing this now, I would've denied it. Who needs bread when you're ordering pizza? In any event, they probably had the best olives that I've had on my trip to Spain...

Yelp
This is a great place. My only regret is I didn't try the pizza. It looked so good. The service is fantastic. We went twice during our stay.. which is usually a no no. .. but we were having a hard time in Madrid. We got the steak for two which was amazing. Small complaint .. it was unevenly cooked.. some bits were perfection.. some almost raw. That being said, we almost finished it!! Second trip we got the fish for two... steak was a better choice I think, but this was still really good Also was given this pork belly tapa. Tasted smoked, with the lighted crispiest skin. One of the best things I have ever had. Other item we ordered .. the salad (you can order a half size.. which is still plenty for two to share as an app). Also the white asparagus. It was wrapped in ham, which I took off. I think white asparagus is too delicate to be wrapped in cured ham. Still enjoyed :) Now. That cheesecake. That glorious cheesecake. It is one of the best things I have ever eaten ... EVER. Seriously. I took one bite, and I was full from dinner.. and that bite .. my stomach made space. It was unreal. We ordered a second piece... I don't think we have ever done that. Hint.. don't pour the sauce over it. It's better without (it's a liquor of some type) I will concur to the previous reviewer that they bring one slice of bread per person to the table, and charge 2e each for it. (And the bread is on the dry side). Just be aware and refuse it if you don't want bread. One of our fave meals in Madrid, if not ever

Yelp
On our quick stay in Madrid we found this gem thanks to Yelp reviews lol....well everything from decor, ambiance service and food was 5 stars. We had local tomato salad and they were hearty and packed with flavor. The pizzas were a winner with our kids whom behaved very well and were also welcomed by entire staff. You can actually watch entire kitchen prepare your meals. We then ordered spanish version of chicharon (cant remember name) incredible! The salmon, chicken and pizza amazing. Wines were priced perfectly and great. Lastly the cheesecake! You cant leave with out trying this cheesecake its not overly fancy or over done its just delicious ...tasty and perfect till last bite!

Yelp
The food was phenomenal. We went early in the evening and were one of the first there, but it was packed when we left. We started with the iberico ham, which was an extremely generous and delicious cut. The grilled artichokes were outstanding as was the burrata with confit tomato pizza. The escalotte steak was the finale and was cooked to a perfect medium rare. I cannot recommend this place enough - it was absolutely worth the visit and a must-see for anyone visiting Madrid

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Such a wonderful venue and food, Hector makes the best cocktails in the area. So nice and genuine, wonderful experience. Would recommend to anyone wanting very nice craft cocktails and quality meal.

Nikki H.

Yelp
OMG! get the tomatoes, artichokes steak and fries and of course the cheesecake! You will die a happy person! Perfection! One of my favorite restaurants in the world. Simply foods done simply perfect.

Bengy C.

Yelp
Best restaurant I have been in Madrid! The organic heirloom tomatoes are to die for. My daughter devoured the pizza which was phenomenal and my husband enjoyed the Torreznos which were also amazing. Great place! Make sure to reserve though. I loved it all! Will return on our next trip.

Yelp
Everything was fantastic. Pizza was great for our 12 year old and the porterhouse was tasty and well cooked. They recommended a pork belly starter that was divine. Staff all lovely and decor is gorgeous. We would visit again, although would book next time as they only just squeezed us in the bar area, it was very popular considering it was mid Feb and off season.
google avatar

Hiren J.

Yelp
Amazing food and wine! We ended up sitting at the bar and ordered two pizzas. One came out within 5 min which seemed a bit odd because the appetizer came after. Other than than, nice restaurant in a great location

Jenna S.

Yelp
Reservation only, however they sat us at the bar then got us to a high top table. Delicious pizza and Caesar salad which they allowed us to take away the leftovers. Fancy place with everything made in house.

S T.

Yelp
A truly great pizza, excellent steaks, extensive wine list with very good prices. Exceptional staff who are both fun and professional complete the picture. Go! Try the fire roasted artichoke for a dish you'll dream of for years to come.
