The 18 Best Ice Cream Spots In Los Angeles - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Many of the scoops at Rori's—a fancy ice cream chain from Montecito—are so crammed with chunky mix-ins that they’re almost miniature sundaes. The peanut butter ice cream comes bulked up with crushed housemade peanut butter cups, and the milk and cookies is studded with big shards of cookie. The texture of the ice cream is stretchy and smooth, but it melts fast, so eat it with urgency if you don't want drips down your arm. We also appreciate that they offer an itty-bitty cup size (about as big as a golf ball) for when you just want a tiny taste." - cathy park, brant cox, sylvio martins

There’s also a cinnamon pumpkin pie with pumpkin pie ice cream and marzipan pumpkin toppings for a nice decorative touch. These chilled pies are available for pick-up at all Rori stores across SoCal. Google
Best ice cream shop in L.A.! All of the flavors are great. My fave is their seasonal chocolate orange; trust me. But the regular menu flavors are all strong choices Large scoops, and the girls that work there are the best!

Google
Where do I start talking about this ice cream place? The customer service here both staff members were extremely friendly patient polite, and provided. Amazing recommendations. The brown sugar, banana, black pepper, pistachio, honey, lavender milk and cookies peanut butter, chocolate candy swirl, and their holiday, pumpkin pie or all amazing . I definitely need to try their ice cream sandwiches and not to mention their happy hour specials and their late night specials too. Metered parking on the street

Google
Great quality ice cream, one of the best in the area !! Totally worth the price. Non-dairy and vegan options that taste incredibly delicious. I loved every bite of my Roman’s Chocolate Coconut scoop with a Tropical Wild Berry scoop. Friendly staff and great service.

Google
Excellent ice cream that is probably the best I've had in the LA area. Unique flavors that have a lot of depth and complexity. I like this place a lot however the last time I was there I felt the service was a bit rushed to get you out the door. But this is not the norm, usually receive very friendly service.

Google
The Peanut Butter Chocolate Candy and NY Strawberry Cheesecake are incredible. Deep, rich flavor and not too sweet. Would 100% recommend to everyone!

Google
I really wanted to love this place as it’s our local neighborhood ice cream shop. However, each time I’ve gone in I’ve been let down. This most recent trip, I ordered a sundae. They had forgotten to make the chocolate sauce so needed to wait to make a new batch — no big deal. However, they left my ice cream sitting on the counter for the 10 minutes it took to heat up. I was shocked to see that they put the hot fudge right on top and handed me ice cream soup. Each time I visit, I have a comprable experience to this. Sadly, I will not be back.

Google
A little more than I would normally pay for ice cream but once I tasted it I realized it was worth it. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend trying this place out if you have the opportunity to.

Google
If you're in the area of the beach, you should get some ice cream here to cool yourself down a bit. My hubby came here before and recommended this place since we were at the beach - about 30 min walk. By far one of the better ice cream places I've been to so far since moving from NYC. Variety of flavors which you would think doesn't mix well but surprisingly so very tasty. I would usually not like cherries and chocolate together but that combo was perfection. I also tried the mojito with mint which was not bad. I think my favorite is their pistachio which tasted much more more natural than the green ones you get at other places. They are also very good about tasting the flavors before you get them. Pricey scoops but so worth it. They also have kiddie scoops too. My biggest disapointment for a first time going was that there was a random piece of plastic in my cup of ice cream - still a 5 star though haha

Yelp
This is some damn good ice cream. I used to regularly visit the location in Santa Barbara, but we moved to Santa Monica, and I had no idea this place was here until recently. The service is great. All the people working are super helpful. This is definitely the kind of place you want to get your scoop and go for a walk down Montana. Not much seating area.

Yelp
I miss them. They closed the century city store. Love their double dark chocolate ice cream

Yelp
Sometimes the cure for a bad day is good ice cream, and Rori's will provide it with a smile!!! I've been coming here for years and the ice cream is always so good! My favorite flavor is the malted milk ball which you will like if you enjoy Whoppers candy. It's perfectly creamy and chocolatey and just scrumptious. The cones themselves also are amazingly delicious...not every ice cream shop has good cones so this is a standout attribute of Rori's. The interior is cute, clean, and welcoming and the staff has always been very friendly. Special shoutout to the girl working today 2/27/24 at 1:30 because her kindness really improved my bad day and she was such a sweetie. I wish I got her name. My only complaint about Rori's is that they don't open until 1pm during the week. It would be nice if they opened a little earlier at let's say noon since I usually am done with my lunch break by the time they open. Come to Rori's if you want some yummy ice cream in Santa Monica! You will be very happy you did :)

Yelp
Was in the area after dinner and this place popped up as a dessert option. I think I've seen this brand in grocery stores but not too sure on that. We got to sample different flavors and even get recommendations! The flavor that stood out though was the root beer float as it was spot on and reminiscent of the old days haha. The price is okay, as expected for the area. Service was good, employees were willing to answer questions and not be annoyed at all. This is definitely a place you grab-and-go though since it's sort of small inside, especially if more people enter the shop. Would definitely try again if in the area.

Yelp
Came back for more, but at the Santa Monica location and SM location only. The Banana and Peanut Butter Chocolate is the perfect combo!
google avatar

Yelp
Rori's ice cream is sooooo goooood! They have both dairy and vegan ice cream. We love the vegan flavors. They have two vegan options: passion fruit and tropical wild berry. We couldn't decide which one to get so we got them both. They tasted delicious together. Passionfruit is still my fave of the two if I HAD to pick one! One other non-dairy ice cream flavor available: Romans chocolate coconut (not vegan, contains eggs). Metered parking on street.

Yelp
Wonderful ice cream! So kind to my kids and we love all their flavors. Rori's locations are our go to for clean ice cream.
google avatar

Linda Y.

Yelp
I wanted to support a local ice cream shop in the area and I came across this place. They only let you try four flavors, which I thought was odd because they have a dictionary full of flavors. One of the flavors were really watery which I didn't understand and the one I got was when an ice cream gets a little old in your freezer so it's kind of tacky consistency. I was not a huge fan, but I also saw that they serve cookie sandwiches but it wasn't on the menu. It was on a poster in the corner of the shop. I honestly wouldn't be back just because the flavor I got really was a turn off.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't like to give 3 stars, but I respectfully won't be coming back. It was $6 for basically a sample-sized coffee cup of ice cream (like the ones at Costco). It was great ice cream! Don't get me wrong. The flavors were great and so was the texture. It's just that the quantity:quality ratio is not there for me and there's nothing super special to justify the cost. Cool if you have the money I guess lol! The scooper was kind and patient with the samples and it seems family friendly!
google avatar

Taylor S.

Yelp
So yummy! And the staff was super helpful. I got Carmel ice cream and my daughter god the vanilla with sprinkles

Yelp
I give them six stars! The place was packed, but they got us through very quickly. The ice cream was absolutely fantastic! Every flavor sounded so interesting, and I wanted to try them all! I chose the lemon curd and the brown sugar banana (I don't care for whole bananas, but for some reason, it sounded good at the time so I went for it). Both flavors were absolutely delicious and I highly recommend them! If you like lemon, you will absolutely love the lemon Curd! I can't wait to go back to try all the flavors. One of my favorite things about this ice cream was that it wasn't over the top sweet! Rori's? You are perfect to me
google avatar

Daniel F.

Yelp
Fantastic ice cream. Among my favorites I've had in all of LA. LEAGUES above S&S. The mint chip ice cream and the lemon curd ice cream are two favorites. I like how the ice cream is lighter in texture and fresh in flavor (like real lemon zest and fresh mint) - not dense and chewy how some ice cream is. I visit as a treat often when I'm in the area. Try them out - I went once too when they were in weho but since that closed this is my closest spot and it's just as good!

Yelp
Ok, Rori's Artisanal Creamery is so good. I was pleasantly surprised when I had it the first time but I've had it threes times now and it's still good. I would go out of my way to come here. Ice cream is definitely on my list of top dessert options. I first had their Sundae with Vanilla Ice Cream and Candied Pecans and it was SO GOOD. Now, I've also had Wild Berry Crunch, Fresh Mint Patty and Biscoff, all very delicious. I'm not sure if I would get the Fresh Mint Patty again though because I like my ice cream to have a strong strong minty flavor and theirs is a bit muted, probably just personal preference. The other flavors are prominent which I like. The texture of the ice cream is denser and has a bite to it, which I love. I usually get a Single Scoop with two flavors and it's a lot of ice cream. I usually don't finish this by myself, so I just take it home, freeze it to have later and it is still so delicious! However, it's a good size for two to three people to share. You can also get Itty Bitty with two flavors if a single is too big for you. I'd say it's comparable to other artisanal creameries like Salt & Straw, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams and Stella Jean's. I first tried them inside Blossom Market Hall, a food hall in San Gabriel, but that location has since closed so I'm happy I can still get them here in LA. Service is friendly and quick. There was no wait when I came on a Friday at 8 PM. There is some inside seating, very cute inside. I can't remember if there is outside seating. There's a small free parking lot in the back you can park in. I didn't have issues finding parking there.

Yelp
Finally tried Rori's and it did not disappoint! You can tell their ingredients are top notch, it was sooo creamy and they give you a generous scoop even if you order a single scoop (which is nice bc it was like $7!). I liked the malted chocolate balls and salted caramel flavor. The ice cream sandwiches were also good too. Can't wait to come back and try more flavors.
google avatar

Cathy S.

Yelp
Came here after a horrible dinner experience at The Fig Restaurant. This place never disappoints and it truly lifted our mood. Delicious creamy ice cream, great service and primely located on Montana so you can window shop as you enjoy your cone. We've been here several times and our favorite flavors are: Salted Caramel - 5/5 Get this! Honey Almond Crunch - 5/5 Soooo GOOD! But it melts fast so make this your top scoop. Serious Dark Chocolate - 5/5 MmmMm!
google avatar

Jill M.

Yelp
I've been to most of the ice cream/gelato places in my neighborhood. Rori's is delicious! I had a coffee and lemon flavors. The young ladies working tonight were very nice and friendly, with great service! I will definitely be going back!
google avatar

Martina T.

Yelp
$7.95 for one scoop. Lots of interesting flavors to choose from. The lavender flavor was very nice, among many others. They have a couple of tables inside by the window to enjoy your ice cream and people watch. The ladies there are very nice. Every day from 3-5p.m., your kid gets a free scoop when you purchase one for yourself. That's a pretty good deal.
google avatar

Preny H.

Yelp
This little ice cream shop is so freakin good!!! Their pistachio black pepper ice cream is a must try! Their passion fruit sorbet and banana ice cream are also great!
google avatar

Shelley D.

Yelp
Their ice cream is so expensive but worth every penny. They really pack a flavor punch with their ice creams. Even their plain vanilla is incredible. I came here for dessert after dinner. I always splurge and get two scoops in the waffle cone, because I can't make a waffle cone at home so I might as well always get it when I'm out!
google avatar

Nick K.

Yelp
We were looking for cute boogie ice cream and this place was amazing. I got scoops of peanut butter chocolate candy, cinnamon toast crunch, and Nutella; and my girlfriend got honey lavender. She loved hers - even though when I tried it, it tasted like eating frozen flowers, but to each their own I digress...anyway, they make their own "Reeces" and then put them in ice cream and it's absolutely amazing. The cinnamon toast crunch tasted so good as well -- let's face it we all know that CTC is the best cereal known to man even though you're f body will have to sugar detox if you have more than a bowl or so. And the Nutella was bomb. Conclusion: amazing artisanal ice cream. You need to give it a shot. We shall be visiting every time we're in town now.
google avatar

Kristin A.

Yelp
@roriscreamery just has dang good ice cream. hidden in a food "hall" in camarillo, it is serving high quality flavors from brown sugar banana to rori garcia to root beer float. Plus you can get in itty bitty size!
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
Thanks to the wonderful service, I was able to eat this yummy ice cream. It's better then any of the store fronts i have had here in LA. They told me the ingredients and even wanted to make sure the cone didn't have palm oil. I just found out that I am allergic to coconut oil and noticed that every ice cream has coconut oil in it which is not bad for people to have of course but people like me it's not so good. it's very upsetting when you can't eat ice cream anymore bc every ice cream has coconut oil in it. . So I am so grateful that the two flavors didn't.

Yelp
Walking along Montana Ave is something I do every so often. This time I had a friend with me from out of town and we explored ending up trying out a flavor called peach bellini and it was really delicious! Peach and mint is such a refreshing mixture! The employee, JJ had such a positive and great disposition. He surely helped make our first experience there a great one.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by on the way home from Malibu. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations. Between my husband and I we chose flavors that that were in the most popular list... NY strawberry cheese cake, milk and cookies (essentially cookies and cream), and peanut butter chocolate candy. YUM! The strawberry cheesecake had the most amazing crust pieces inside. Tasted so rich/buttery and homemade! The milk and cookies were good as well. I believe they said it's gluten free cookies. You couldn't really tell. The peanut butter one was so rich and peanut buttery as well. Can't go wrong with these 3. Only downside was the temp of the ice cream was a bit high. The whole cup melted before we could finish. A couple degrees cooler in the fridge and it would have been perfect.
google avatar

CJ G.

Yelp
A regular Artisanal Creamery with lovely ice cream flavors. My favorite is the Honey Lavender. There are cups in three sizes for scoops. There is a freezer case with ready made ice cream cookie sandwiches, drumsticks and pints of take home ice cream flavors. A small area for Indoor and outdoor seating is available.
google avatar

Esther S.

Yelp
Came for some ice cream when I was in the area and loved this place!! There are so many different unique flavors and the girl who helped me was so friendly and helpful. I couldn't decide if I wanted a cone or cup and she told me I can have a cone IN A CUP!!! Best of both worlds There are ice creams in a point to take home if you want. I got the milk and cookies, great choice. Will try the Cinnamon Toast Crunch next time!
google avatar

T Ray C.

Yelp
My favorite ice cream place, especially for dairy-free ice cream, in Santa Monica. They have a delicious chocolate ice cream made with coconut milk that tastes just like chocolate ice cream made with regular milk, and my favorite is the tropical berry flavor, also with coconut milk. Great location on Montana, within walking distance of all the restaurants there. Friendly service as well.
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
Rori's ice cream is on point! It has so many fun flavors. I got the cinnamon toast crunch and it tasted exactly like the cereal. The portion was also great, although a single scoop is over $6. I guess that's the price you pay for premium ice cream in LA! Overall, it was delicious ice cream and I think anyone would enjoy visiting! Snagged metered street parking in front of the shop. Limited seating outside.

C C.

Yelp
Expensive ice cream - salt and straw is much better and worth the price. This place is average. Have been a few times and probably won't be returning
google avatar

Douglas M.

Yelp
OMG! Best ice cream sandwich every... Monkey in the middle! Can't wait to go back to try more
google avatar

Jan V.

Yelp
Simple, straightforward lil ice cream parlor! Staff were extremely kind and patient, seating areas were clean, fresh air was constant pumping through the ventilation, and price was at a good range. If I'm ever in the area again this would be a go-to for a sweet treat.

Lynn M.

Yelp
Strawberry NY cheesecake blew me to the moon creamy fresh simply delicious I will recommend New brand new experience
google avatar

Yelp
My stomach hurts after eating ice cream but you know what? This place is 100% worth it. So creamy and so good. Sample the flavors before you order them! Loved the mint chocolate chunk.

Yelp
Wow!!! Truly amazingly delicious ice cream! Found this place on yelp and decided to try it out last night after our date. I was very full but was craving something sweet. We parked right outside. There was only two other customers when we arrived. I tried: Lemon curd: 5/5 creamy, sweet, lemony, a little tart, soooo delicious. I ended up getting a small scoop, which is really two big scoops. Black pepper pistachio:4/5 this was good but I preferred the lemon. Salted caramel: 5/5 oh my! Just as good as Bi rite creamery!!! So smooth and creamy. Most excellent. Hubby got a small of this one. (Came back a third time and feel in love with the honey lavender!!!!) Sooo happy to have discovered this creamery so close to my parents place. I won't have to freak all the way to SF when I crave some amazing ice cream!I will be back with the kids! They have happy hour 3-5. Bring your kids it buy one get one free!

Yelp
I have found my ice cream heaven! It is at the top of all the ice cream places I've been to! I like everything about this place! Can you believe it has been in existence since 2012? Where have I been for the past 7 years?? I've been missing out! First of all, their ice cream is phenomenal! It's definitely creamy as well as flavorful! On my first visit, I sampled a few flavors. My favorites were the Wildberry Crisp and the Honey Lavender! I indulged my inner child and got a scoop of each! I have tried a lot of Honey Lavender ice cream in various ice cream shops, but to me, this place rocks the flavor perfectly! Hubby got the Cup O' Joe Spinelli and Rori Garcia. On my second visit, I brought a friend and had her try those two flavors as well! I believe she really enjoyed the ice cream! Almost a month later, I returned! We happened to be in Santa Monica and my hubby knows how much I love Rori's Artisanal Ice Cream and brought me back. My friend and I decided to share the special which was a Pumpkin Spice Latte Sundae. They add a scoop of Cup O' Joe Spinelli and Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream with Whipped Cream on top. You need to get a little of everything to taste the effect. For only $6, this is a great deal! They offer a special each month. My hubby had his own double scoops of ice cream... The Elvis and Rori Garcia. We took tastes of his flavors. The second thing I like about this place is that they have a Kid's Happy Hour every day! It happens from 3PM to 5PM. Parents buy a single scoop and the kids (18 & under) get one free! If I had young children, I'd be here just for that! The third thing that is great for health-conscious people is that they are organic, have vegan ice cream, gluten-free cones, etc. To be honest, I am not into any of those things... I just want delicious tasting ice cream! BUT, if any of those things makes this ice cream THIS GOOD, I'm in! So, per the website, this ice cream is "sold in Whole Foods, Gelson's, Bristol Farms, Lazy Acres, Joans on Third and more". Thank you, Rori Trovato, for sharing your superb ice cream with us! I'm thankful there are 3 locations here in CA... Santa Monica, Century City and Long Beach. Drive, take the bus, run... just go there!
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Great Gelato! I got 3 scoops. Yes 3! Chocolate, biscotti, and malted milk ball. All three were delicious! I realized there is one down the street from us in Camarillo also. I'm sure I'll be making some visits to that one too! Friendly and fast service.
google avatar

Mihaela M.

Yelp
I love Rori's ice cream!!!!! It's the best and their freshly homemade cones are so delicious! A must try treat!!!

Linda L.

Yelp
A friend and I were leaving the Santa Monica Playhouse and we got a sudden craving for gourmet ice cream... I randomly searched on yelp for a nearby place. We chose Rori's based on the five star reviews... if I could give it a 10 star, I would... the wide choice of unusual flavors and creamy texture sold me... I chose a combo scoop of the seasonal pumpkin spice and nut filled maple .. Deliciously decadent!! the customer service was excellent... She was patient and gracious with my numerous requests for sample tastes.. when I'm in Santa Monica, I'll always stop by Rori's Artisnal for a sweet treat.
google avatar

Gracie S.

Yelp
Getting ice cream at Rori's was an amazing experience! The real stand out was the employees. Dylan helped us all make an informed decision on which flavors to get. He had great product knowledge and a kind, helpful demeanor! Will definitely be back. 10/10 would recommend the Malted Milk Ball.
google avatar

Joanna C.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for ice cream and after a long hot hike, Rori's was exactly what the doctor prescribed! Tried the mint with honey lavender split scoop and it was delicious! Unfortunately it was way too hot outside so the ice cream melted and the 2 flavors rapidly became one. Good thing I like both. The honey on the lavender was pretty powerful. I typically like a little more lavender a little less honey but this one was good! Could've used a tad more mint flavor (but that could've been because it was mixed with the honey...will have to come back and see if that's actually the case). Friendly staff, solid ice cream option!
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
Oh how I wish a Rori's would come to Boston after experiencing it for my first time last week LOL To be honest, at first I was just like "meh" about going to Rori's because I really wanted to try salt and straw, but didn't get a chance to go. We went on a Saturday night around after supper time and there was a BIG line and only 2 people staffed! Not only did these two people have to care to those in line, but they also had to take care of online orders as well! I felt awful for the two, but they were cool, calm and collected and had a smile on their face the whole time. Now for the ice cream... I tried the banana brown sugar and basically died and went to heaven, but I also was very intrigued by this special "dirt cup" (or it may have been dirt and worms, I forget!) - as a kid I used to LOVE dirt cups, so after 1 sample of trying this I knew it had to be my choice. It's funny cause I love chocolate, but never go for chocolate ice cream cause I haven't found one I absolutely love and this hit the nail on the head... Chocolate ice cream, brownie bites and organic gummiworms. YES PLEASE. Now I'm back on the east coast wishing I could go just one more time. Thanks Rori's for such an incredible experience!

Yelp
Here are the flavors we tried: Espresso : this isn't your typical coffee ice cream. As the name suggests, it's espresso, and naturally, it isn't as sweet as your typical coffee I've cream that you expect from mainstream brands. There is a distinct slight coffee bitterness to the sweetness. Coffee lovers will surely love this flavor. Peanut butter chocolate : I loved this one. It had chunks of peanut butter, chunks of dark chocolate with peanut butter, and was overall very smooth and delicious. Vanilla - it was a very rich vanilla flavor. A great vanilla for sure. Lavender - have you ever walked in to a spa and loved the smell of lavender? Well if you could taste that smell, this would be it. It tasted like a spa in my mouth. The first few bites were delightful, but the flavor was too specific and distinct for my taste. Pistachio - the pistachio flavor was very natural. I've tasted some pistachio ice creams that taste artificial, and thankfully not here. There are soft and small chunks of pistachio layered in the ice cream for some fun texture. Overall, we enjoyed very much!
google avatar

Diane L.

Yelp
If you've ever craved freshly ground black pepper in your ice cream and goodness gracious who hasn't then this is the place for you! All kidding aside, this is the best ice cream in Santa Monica. Yes, it's pricey but worth every penny. You can taste the freshness in every mouth watering unique flavor. Gluten free cones and nut free flavors are available. If you're near Montana Avenue do yourself a favor and indulge in a scoop or two.

Yelp
tl;dr Rori's maintains the fine balance between approachable offerings and bold flavors, culminating in a treat that's sure to delight In Los Angeles, premium ice cream is always only a stone's throw away. Eschewing any gimmicks, Rori's Artisanal Creamery opts for simple flavors with high-quality ingredients and masterful execution. The indoor space is taken up mostly by an employee-only area, with only a few counters for patron use (currently blocked off re: COVID). Rori's sports a vibrant orange and green color palette across the room. The back wall is stickered with cliche photographs of folks smiling with ice cream, and a full menu of flavors hangs in the back, slightly obscured from view. A handful of metal tables and stools are set up outdoors. After a long day walking around Santa Monica, my partner and I rolled through Rori's for dessert. At 5 PM on a weekday in the winter, the space was expectedly empty, so we were able to ask the server about some of the flavors. We decided to share a Triple Scoop (less than $1 more than the Mix & Match of 3 Itty Bittys). The Peanut Butter Chocolate Candy flavor was a rich PB ice cream, with a smattering of homemade peanut butter cups crushed in. The Milk & Cookies was Rori's version of cookies & cream, but instead of Oreos, it features generous globs of fudge sauce and homemade (gluten-free) double chocolate chip cookies. Finally, the Black Pepper Pistachio was vibrantly pistachio-y, with lots of nut bits interspersed within. According to our scoop-ster, the pistachios were roasted with black peppercorn before being deshelled; this doesn't end up tasting too heavily of pepper but brings out more pistachio flavor for the ice cream. With no shortage of premium ice creameries, I walked into Rori's hyper-critical. While I left beyond pleased overall, I was bummed to realize that our server forgot to add our cone on top. At $10 for 3 intermediate-sized scoops, Rori's is expensive at baseline but comparable in price to other artisinal ice cream options around LA. If you're looking to avoid a busy trip to Abbot Kinney, Rori's is a worthy substitute.

Yelp
Rori's only has three vegan flavors and none of them are any good or interesting. Two of them are fruit flavored (boring) and the vegan special, coffee ice cream, didn't wow me. It lacked creaminess or complexity. A single scoop costs $5.30, so it's pricey, too. If you're looking for better ice cream, go to Van Leeuwen.
