"Round Trip wants to take palates on a European journey to experience a draft lineup pouring what they label “untypical” marzens, helles, hefeweizens, berliner weisses, and Munich-style dark lagers. Since opening in 2021, they found a great niche for German beer advocates, but Round Trip makes sure “hop heads” get some love with plenty of IPAs (which also use German-based ingredients). Round Trip Brewing features a large, string-lit outdoor seating area, a 12-tap tasting room, and a 15-barrel brewhouse. The selection of beer here includes a dunkel, a keller pilsner, a west-German amber ale, a doppelbock and a helles, and a West Coast IPA, for good measure. "Round Trip Brewing opens Friday, February 19, in the Underwood Hills neighborhood. The 26,000-square-foot brewery located on Seaboard Industrial Boulevard features a taproom and bar with 12 taps, an outdoor beer garden, and an event space. A 15-barrel brewhouse with 30-barrel fermenters and seven-barrel tanks allow CEO and head brewer Craig Mycoskie to create double batches and one-off beers for Round Trip. Mycoskie, who has an affinity for German-style beers, worked as a brewer for over 12 years in Denver, Forth Worth, and Austin. He volunteered at Atlanta’s SweetWater Brewing Company while attending college in Athens, Georgia, where he met co-owner Amy Mycoskie. Beer production at Round Trip centers around German beer styles like a dunkel, helles, pilsner, rye alt, and a smoked doppelbock, along with a West Coast IPA. New beers will be added to the lineup each week until all 12 taps are filled. For now, beer is only available for purchase at the brewery in 32-ounce crowler cans and six packs. There are currently no plans to distribute Round Trip’s beers beyond the brewery. “We have dreamed of opening our own brewery for a long time but did not factor for a global pandemic in our initial business plans. To work through the challenges of 2020 and still be able to open the brewery is worth celebrating,” Mycoskie says in the press release. During the pandemic, Round Trip patrons are required to wear masks when not seated and when speaking with brewery staff. Seating capacity is limited in the taproom and in the beer garden. Round Trip Brewing joins several other breweries in an area dubbed the Westside Brewery District, including Second Self Beer, Fire Maker Brewing, Scofflaw Brewing, Steady Hand Beer Co., Atlanta Brewing Company, Bold Monk Brewing Co., and Monday Night Brewing. Cidery and taproom Urban Tree Cidery resides along Howell Mill Road in the northwest Atlanta neighborhood of Berkeley Park.
