The Newest Restaurants In Philadelphia - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Roxanne returns to serving up experimental cuisine, now in Headhouse Square. In this iteration, you can choose between an a la carte menu or do their $140 per person, eight-course tasting option. Prepare for cheeseburgers with red rock cheese, salads shaped into a bouquet, and more." - candis mclean, alison kessler

The Hit List: New Philadelphia Restaurants To Try Right Now

"Roxanne, the one-woman show previously located in the Italian Market, is back in a bigger, boozier space in Society Hill. The new iteration still does the DIY, anti-establishment thing, but now with a tasting menu and a la carte service. Sometimes the bizarre dishes are a great success—we loved the Pepto-pink “green salad” and the raw cheesesteak on rye bread blanketed in homemade american whiz. Other menu moments feel like experiments for the sake of experimentalism, especially in the case of tater tots paired with a mandarin orange and panna cotta, and an incredibly salty burger on the dessert menu. It’s all a bit perplexing. It’s occasionally off-putting. And we can’t wait to go back." - candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, candis mclean, candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, alison kessler, alison kessler, candis mclean, candis mclean, candis mclean

The Best New Restaurants in Philly, March 2025

"Chef and owner Alex Holt moved her famed Bella Vista restaurant into bigger digs in Society Hill. This means much more space for her ingenious desserts and just plain fun dishes throughout the tasting and a la carte menus. There’s the potato on potato dish topped with aerated cheese; lemon poppyseed cod; and the sweet cream soft serve with caviar. The tasting menu comes with eight courses and costs $140." - Nadia Chaudhury

Roxanne - Review - Society Hill - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Roxanne, the one-woman show previously located in the Italian Market, is back in a bigger, boozier space in Society Hill. The most notable change is that the American restaurant now offers a la carte service in addition to its $140 tasting menu. Otherwise, the purple orb of a dining room feels just as anti-establishment and DIY as before. (See: plastic lemons nailed to the wall beside “Enjoy Your F*cking Dinner” artwork and a cheeseburger on the dessert menu. ) The food is still weird, sometimes to great success. So far we love the “green salad” with Pepto-pink chicories, and the raw cheesesteak on rye bread with a blanket of homemade american whiz. Other menu moments feel more avant garde than recommendable, especially the tater tots paired with a mandarin orange and panna cotta, and the incredibly salty, nearly inedible aforementioned burger. But so far the hits exceed the perplexing misses, so if you like to be surprised by what you find on your plate, Roxanne is worth the trip. photo credit: Alison Kessler photo credit: Alison Kessler photo credit: Alison Kessler Pause Unmute" - Alison B. James Beard Awards 2024: Restaurant, Chef, and Media Finalists | Eater

"Hailed as one of Philadelphia's buzziest new openings, this restaurant is characterized by strong conceptual interest and novelty, though some critics find the cuisine more intriguing than consistently delicious." - Eater Staff
