"This clean-as-a-whistle, bright, and airy Metairie gem aims for efficiency with its 45-minute, two-course “quick lunch” for $19. Start with a salad or a soup and follow it up with Buffalo fried chicken salad, tuna Niçoise, or a turkey club. There’s a full a la carte menu for those with more time. Plus martinis are only $5 and made with Chopin vodka, so why not just make more time?" - Beth D'Addono, Stephanie Carter

We stopped by Ruby Slipper and overall had a good experience, though there were a few areas that could use improvement. The food was delicious, highlights in life’s the Sweet Heat Chicken & French Toast Bites and the Chicken St. Charles Benedict. Both dishes were flavorful and well-prepared. We also ordered two coffees, and while our server was friendly and welcoming, one of the coffees was forgotten and brought to the table near the end of our meal. Additionally, we noticed that both the floor and our table were quite sticky, which affected the overall cleanliness and comfort of the dining experience. Ruby Slipper is a great place for brunch and a menu worth coming back for, but attention to detail and cleanliness could make a big difference.

I had a fantastic experience at Ruby Slipper Cafe! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. Our waitress, Lala, was especially wonderful — friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations that really made our meal special. Highly recommend this spot for a satisfying and enjoyable brunch!

Had a lovely brunch this morning. Our server, Katherine, was attentive and super sweet. The pig candied bacon slaps (as always). I tried the chicken and French toast today for the first time and loved it! We’ll be back.

Google
Our first visit to the Ruby Slipper and we would DEFINITELY go back again!! The variety of brunch foods was AMAZING and they were reasonably priced. I had the One Tomato, Two Tomato Eggs Benedict (which they're calling vegetarian, but it has EGGS on it 🤣) with slices of red tomato AND fried green tomatoes on it and it came with a side salad. Yum! I got the cheddar grits on the side, but they were not seasoned at all, so I had to add a LOT of salt. I also had the mocha coffee with whip. Delicious!! For the table we shared the loaded tots with pork, beignets and fried green tomatoes. They did not last us very long as we wolfed them down! The kids had chocolate chip pancakes, which they absolutely LOVED! Service was wonderful, food came out quickly and they were super attentive and removed plates as we finished to make room. Our party of seven was in and out in only 45 minutes.

Google
The food we ordered was really good, and Melvin, our server, was super friendly. I loved the vibe and ambiance of the place. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m at Nola!

Google
Ruby Slipper is so amazing and has really good food. In addition, Dwayne, our waiter was hospitable and made the experience even more so worth it. Ask for him when you get there, you will get the best service as well as food that’s hot and ready at your table.

While we love ruby slipper, I will never go back to Metairie rd location. The last 3 times I’ve been there I was totally ignored. I even walked out once because no one acknowledged our table. Veterans blvd location is excellent.

Google
We had an absolutely delightful experience at The Ruby Slipper Cafe last week! From the moment we walked in, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and made us feel right at home. The service was impeccable—Our server, Chyna K, was attentive without being overbearing, checking in just at the right moments to refill our coffee/water and ensure everything was perfect.

Yelp
Came here on Sunday morning during a Girls Trip to NOLA. Was recommended by a friend who visited on a recent trip. We ordered Shrimp and Grits and the Trifecta Benny. The vanilla spice latte was good too. Overall great food and great service.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting New Orleans as an adult and this restaurant was highly recommended for brunch. I was in a group of four and when we got to the restaurant, it was at least an hour wait to be seated. The wait was not bad at all because we sat outside, which was really nice, and they were playing some really good music. Once we got into the restaurant, I would have to say that it is pretty tight but intimate, and the noise level was pretty high due to how close the tables are to each other. I would have to say that we were all really happy with what we ordered. I ordered the original pancakes and they were so fluffy and the syrup was so good! I also decided to get the beignets. I would have to say that I've had better. They were supposed to come out as an appetizer, but our server forgot and brought them out at the end of our meal. They were hot, but I felt like there was too much powdered sugar on it. The food is a bit pricey, but because I was on vacation, I was not too concerned about the price, but wanted the experience. Unfortunately, I would not say that our service was the best. Our server seemed a little scattered, and we had to constantly ask another server for what we had asked her maybe 10 minutes ago. But she was nice. I feel the restaurant is a little overrated, but I would visit again when back in New Orleans because our service could be better at a different time.

Yelp
PRO TIP: call the restaurant and you can put your name on the waitlist via text! Save yourself some time. definitely worth the wait. We loved the loaded tater tots. Omelette was to die for, gravy was some of the best I've ever had. Homemade biscuit came with a delicious homemade butter. All the breakfast alcoholic beverages we got were tasty. I got the banana foster French toast and while it wasnt terrible, it wasn't my favorite. I didn't like how it was made with French bread which made it dry in my opinion and it was very sweet to eat it as a whole breakfast- would be better as a side and not a whole meal. Anyways, we will be back for the yummy omelettes! Ambience is casual!

Brielle P.

Yelp
Super cute breakfast / brunch spot! A friend recommended and we had a nice meal here for breakfast. There is really limited parking. The hostess sat us right away and our waitress was prompt. My friend ordered the beignets with pumpkin and they were very interesting in flavor but super sweet. My mom enjoyed her Benedict - said it was real tasty! I had the goat cheese omelette. The omelets was pretty good there was minimal goat cheese so it was mostly egg and spinach. The biscuit served with it tasted stale - it was cold and very hard. The grits were also cold. Next visit I will try something else.

Darlene B.

Yelp
The food and services were excellent. I would suggest when you go to brunch, try something different. It may very well surprise you.

Meghan D.

Yelp
Brunch at Ruby Slipper, I don't have anything bad to say! The service is great and the food is delicious. I ordered the chicken St. Charles and loaded tots to start. The tots come with pork debris and Tasso cream sauce and are so tasty! The service was excellent and our waitress was very nice! If I had one negative, it would be there is always a wait. But they allow you to put yourself on the waitlist online. You can do this on your way or even at home depending on where you live and check in when you arrive. While you wait, you can order drinks at the bar.

Lindsey H.

Yelp
Joined the virtual wait and was seated within 12 minutes on a Sunday.. that's a record for Ruby sipper wait time! Our waitress, Mia was amazing. We got French toast bites, Spanish omelette and chicken st Charles all was so delicious!

Dorecia W.

Yelp
The service was great. Lauren was an excellent waitress and extremely efficient. "She was on the spot." (Quoted from my Man). We never had to look for her.... Very timely. I had the French toast bites with Hot Honey chicken. Delicious! He had a traditional pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. The bacon was smaller than expected and overcooked. (Bacon is very important to us). That was the only little, tiny disappointment.

Ino R.

Yelp
Great brunch spot, with Cajun zing. The Ruby Slipper Cafe in Metairie served up some tasty food. My brother had a delicious Chicken and Waffles entree. The chicken was tender, the honey hot sauce was not overpowering, and the waffles were fluffy. The kids had pancakes, simple... some places can't figure it out, but my kids devoured these - a sign that they were pretty good. The kids pancake plate comes with a side of bacon. I ordered a coffee and the shrimp and grits. The grits were well balanced for both taste and texture. The shrimp and andouille sausage slices were generous and well seasoned. This plate did not last too long either. Our server was very nice, she tended to us we'll, and made sure the kids were happy and we did not want for anything. She kept the coffee hot and cups filled . I might venture to try the delicious looking Bloody Marys on the menu, but it was a kid joined weekday with other events to follow -next time. If you like Silver Plate, Cracker Barrel, or Bob Evans, then you will enjoy the Ruby Slipper. They do have morning and afternoon cocktails...so, it's a plus if you can partake. We were super relaxed here. I didn't feel rushed. Plenty of room between tables. We were greeted and seated promptly. Recommend.

Catina T.

Yelp
Decided to visit this location instead of New Orleans CBD because we thought it would be less crowded and a shorter wait. We got in quickly and got a table for 4. We ordered drinks, a peach bellini, and a ruby mimosa. Both were more sparkling wine than fruit, so we ordered extra orange juice to add to the drinks. After that, they were great. Has some issues with ordering. Our server started out being attentive, but after the second time asking for her to come back because some of our party hadn't decided what to order, I started to notice a difference. We finally decided on shrimp and grits, breakfast sandwiches, and the trifecta. The food was great. Grits were perfect flavor and consistency, and the shrimp was a good portion. It came with a huge biscuit, which was delicious. I added a scrambled egg. Portions we were huge and I normally take food home but I ate everything that day. My husband and son both ordered the breakfast sandwiches and were delicious. My daughter ordered the trifecta, which was too much to eat in one sitting, but she also loved it. We waited for boxes, waited for the check, and finally had to flag down another server to get out of there. Granted, we were there a little after close because the hours online were different from the hours on the door. But we were not rude and apologized, but it felt like most of the staff was ready to go at closing time, and that was the end of hospitality. I would definitely go again, I would just go earlier to be out before the end of the shift.

Liz C.

Yelp
Just wanted to update my previous post and let you know that I have recommended your restaurant to so many people! One of my friends was just in NO last week and out of the 5-6 days she was there, she hit your restaurant 3 times. She and her friends loved it!! She also brought me back the t-shirt I had wanted to buy when we were there but you didn't have any in stock. So I'm even more happier!!

Yelp
Amazing Food & service !! In old Metairie location What can I say they're signature drinks are good. Refreshing

Ethan K.

Yelp
Stopped by Sunday mid morning for some brunch. Was expecting a long wait since I had arrived around 10:30, but for a table of 2 we only had to wait 15 minutes! The place was bustling with tons of conversation. The restaurant itself was clean and bright. The coffee was delicious and I had ordered the Migas Plate, which was also wonderful! Our server, Christy, was also so polite and attentive to our table even though it was super busy that morning. Definitely recommend this place for your next brunch spot!

Olakunle O.

Yelp
You'll want to get on their waiting list since it's a hot ticket and the line often wraps around the building. We got lucky when we popped in after a 20-30 minute wait time. Anyway, the place is cute and the staff is friendly. After starting with spiced vanilla latte, we went with the loaded tots with pork debris, avocado toast with smoked salmon, and a Cobb salad with fried chicken and candied bacon. Both were delicious. The cons were the bathroom being devoid of paper towels, having empty drink glasses, and some slight mixups with our orders. I would certainly come back. 4.5 stars

Alana P.

Yelp
This is our spot every time we come to NOLA! They have the best biscuits ever!!! The only complaint is they do not offer sweet tea! That's kinda weird for any restaurant in the south to not offer sweet tea. But the food is outstanding. I have never had anything that I didn't like. The service is great too. Very serve we have had has been friendly offered advice on menu items. The red seats are not comfortable at all but once you taste that food you forget that your hips hurt.

Kevin K.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots to eat in the city but solely because of the food. Everything else about this place is generally awful, to be totally honest. If the food wasn't solid, it would be an easy 1 star rating. But seriously, the food is superb. And that's the most concise summary I can give. I have never had a bad dish here and have tried a bunch of them. If you like eggs benedict, this is a great place to go. Their french toast concoctions are heavenly. Even their basic breakfast dishes are excellent, and I love their coffee drinks. I could go on and on. But the terrible customer service, rude waiters and waitresses, inefficiency with which the whole place operates, and the lack of care from anyone really makes it miserable to come here sometimes ... even when I'm craving something on the menu. Be prepared for that, but know you'll get good food; that's about it, ha.

Bobby B.

Yelp
The food was cold and serive was terrible. I will not be coming back!!!! Hard bacon and cold girts

Donald R.

Yelp
Went yesterday morning around 10:00 AM. No wait, food was as delicious at the ones in downtown New Orleans! Service was good.

Quinessa H.

Yelp
The biscuits and gravy were seasoned very well but served cold, so we sent it back. Our server Liz was so sweet and accommodating despite the kitchen flaws. I ordered the crawfish cake starter and side salad, as I've been eating po'boys and crawfish pies all weekend. It was 2 crawfish cakes with onions, peppers, and creole seasonings served with spinach, corn maque choux and crawfish cream sauce. It was very good but I wish I had more cream sauce. They leave a lot to be desired in regards to the wait time. I put my name on the waitlist at 12:05 PM and arrived to the restaurant at 1:50 PM. Upon placing my name on the waitlist, I was advised that it would be an hour and 20 minutes to an hour and 50 minute wait. Once I got to the hostess stand at the restaurant, I was advised that it could be up to another 45 minutes to an hour because you are required to check in after placing your name on the waitlist. It seems like the time does not start until you arrive. Excuses were made about it being Mardi Gras weekend and them having to service a large amount of people however, if you've been to Ruby slipper before you know that there is always a wait. So FYI, placing your name on the online waitlist means nothing. I wish I could give them five stars but due to the cold food and the wait time I would love to give them 3 1/2 since it's not an option I'm settling for three.

Amber L.

Yelp
Fabulous as always! This was our first time at this location and it upheld to our visit as we had in Pensacola. The latte is probably may favorite. We got one of the specials, dough something with pumpkin cheesecake something...it was to die for. I also tried the breakfast tacos for the first time and they were delicious and very full in the taco shell, you could probably share with someone. My husband just got the basic egg/meat breakfast. Definitely recommend trying this place. If you don't live in the south you will only be disappointed you do not have one close to you to visit.

Dayana M.

Yelp
Busy! Very difficult to find parking but quick service once seated. Service wasn't the best, and food was ok. Let's just say it's an ok spot for breakfast nothing different from a chain breakfast restaurant.

carliauna c.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered a to go at the bar due to time. The bartender was lovely and did a great job! The 2 star review is for other reasons. We both used the restroom while waiting and the women's was fairly dirty. My husband over heard two of the staff members talking about who had the blunt and then they proceeded to smoke it while him and other guests were in the restroom. The restaurant as a whole wasn't very clean but that could be due to a busy morning. Lastly I ordered French toast with sides. There was no syrup in my to go box, who wants French toast without syrup ‍. So to sum it up, between the negligence in the kitchen, employees actively getting high in the bathroom and the dirty restaurant we won't be returning to this particular location.

Gina H.

Yelp
Was happy we didn't need to drive downtown for Ruby Slippers!! Just know this is small and it's not their full menu. I didn't know that before coming. Nevertheless, their French toast was very good & my husband enjoyed his biscuits & gravy with eggs. Oh & the coffee was good! Good luck on the parking!! Very limited.

Jass J.

Yelp
Food wasn't memorable Staff wasn't too friendly Space was a little tight ....................::::

J L.

Yelp
I can't give it 5 stars because the restaurant was NOT clean. Sticky floor and gross bathrooms and kitchen looked questionable. But the food was very good. Had the fried green tomatoes and also the St. Charles chicken/Cochon pork eggs Benedict combo.

Janna J.

Yelp
I love Ruby Slipper! Everything on the menu is so good. The service is always great. It can get busy on the weekends, but you can add your name to the waitlist and minimize your wait at the restaurant. My go to are the breakfast tacos, but the pancakes are great when you want something sweet for breakfast. I also love the French toast bites. Honestly it's all good! Plus they have Nola style iced coffee from French Truck, so that's an added bonus.

Alicia R.

Yelp
The food is always delicious. Everything I've ordered has been amazing. The service is also excellent. I was excited to bring my brother and his fiancé here during their recent stay. I knew Ruby slipper would hit it out of the park and they did. I do prefer the old Metairie location above the others, even though the parking lot is small. My tip is to get on the waiting list through their website. They do not take reservations, which is fine. We usually add ourselves to the list when we're on our way and it saves us those few blessed extra minutes, which I appreciate because #kids can get pretty hangry. Our family favorites are biscuits and gravy, eggs black stone, the Benedict trio, cinnamon swirl pancakes and hubby and I love their spiced lattes!

Eli W.

Yelp
Let me say that the Benedict trio is delicious. But this place is overpriced and overhyped. There's too many good spots to return. Bring the price down.

Santos S.

Yelp
We absolutely loved the food - the service was great. The migas were cooked perfectly and the chips were very crispy . My wife's eggs Benedict also juicy and delicious .There was a bit of a wait but once we were in place and food was on point. Will definitely check them out again and try other dishes on the menu.

Karla H.

Yelp
This was our first time eating at this location. We're from Texas but love their food. This location did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the staff were great and even though it was very busy (Saturday morning), the service was excellent! The only thing I didn't like was the limited parking.

J B.

Yelp
My first time in New Orleans was Halloween weekend. I stopped by a Ruby Slipper Cafe for breakfast. They came highly recommended by locals. So I wanted to give them a try. When I had shrimp and grits with their delicious big biscuits, I was in love. OMG...amazing food. Our waitress was great and I loved the Southern family vibe of the restaurant. I will be back again.

CSheri M.

Yelp
We went to Ruby Slipper Cafe for brunch after failing to find parking at the more popular Ruby Slipper Metairie on Veterans Blvd. Here there was amble parking with little fuss. We were seated immediately and served promptly. The ambiance was sociable, family friendly, and the air filled with conversations and laughter. The service was very good. Our server, was kind and interested in our ongoing experience. The manager even checked on us. The main event was the food offerings and enjoyment. Everyone around us was enjoying various plates. We saw tatter tots being eaten with tacos, bennies deliciously piled high, and other plates provided to happy faces. We started with spiced lattes, one seasonal pumpkin with oat milk and the other a vanilla with regular cow milk. The vanilla was the smoother and tastier of the two, though both were nice. We chose the Southern Breakfast with chicken sausage and the Gulf Shrimp Omelet with the addition of a (that being 1for $4) buttermilk pancake. On the Southern breakfast plate was thinly sliced fried green tomato that did not lack taste. It was done right, though not beefy enough. Then there was this decadent maple butter served with a wonderful biscuit: warm and fluffy. The grits were so perfect in texture and seasoning it needed no addition other than the eggs it came with. The chicken sausage was good. It was nice to have a non-pork option. The other meal at the table was omelet cheesy was served with a cup of grits and biscuit. The pancake was okay. The scoop of maple butter made the it amazing. No syrup needed. All choices were so filling. The prices, overall, we're fair. The problem child was relegated to the restroom. I went in, but didn't use the facilities. Let me say that this is an issue that needs immediate attention. It almost took my experience down from 5 stars to 3.

Laurie G.

Yelp
Service was impeccable. Ambiance is perfect for a quick brunch. The food was delicious and made to order. Definitely recommended.

Cynthia W.

Yelp
I love Ruby Slipper but this is my least favorite location. Parking is very difficult even when it isn't very busy. Can't imagine where you would park if it was a full house. Very small parking lot. The food was good as always and service was great. The atmosphere is a lot more laid back compared to the French Quarter locations. There was no wait for a table at 11:15 on a Wednesday. Overall a good experience except for the parking headache.

Amanda L.

Yelp
We have never been to Ruby Slipper and have wanted to try. Beware portions are huge. We had some a la carte breakfast items, pancakes, chicken sandwich and the triple beneidects sampler. Lots of flavors that don't seem to work together, yet somehow create a nice flavor. Coffee was super strong and waitstaff were very pleasant and attentive despite clearly busy. Ambience is a noisy breakfast cafe as expected.

Steve F.

Yelp
Based on two visits. First visit was five star all the way, the banana foster French toast was amazing, waitress was friendly and polite even helping us decide on items to try. All three people in our party were over the top impressed with every aspect of the restaurant. Second visit was a little different experience, all be it the food was good this time we got a waitress that obviously didn't want to work that day. Seems she was mad at the world, questions were answered with a one or two word explanation and we all got the feeling we were bothering her just by being there. So all in all the second visit I would give a three star, mainly for the waitress. Food was still good. Average both visits and you get a four!

Alicia M.

Yelp
I visited around 10am on a weekday because parking is terrible here on the weekends. Christy was our server and she was awesome, very helpful and present throughout our visit! My cocktail (Lavender Paloma) was ehhh but the food made up for it. I had the mix and match Bennies, and chose the Abita Braised Beef Benedict and Eggs Cochon Benedict. Both were excellent but I liked the Eggs Cochon slightly better. My mouth waters every time I think about them lol. The other guest had the Southern Breakfast and also enjoyed it. Also worth mentioning, the biscuits here are huge and very good! Will definitely return...but only during the week!

Mickey P.

Yelp
Super friendly waitress- Sunny at 7:30 am in the morning with a big smile. Give some flavors to the beignets it's a good way to say goodbye to jazz festival.

Vanessa Z.

Yelp
Good average southern breakfast spot with the usual fair. Was quite busy but didn't take too long overall

Jada M.

Yelp
Probably some of the best pancakes we've ever had. My fiancé doesn't normally like sweets and he said "this is one of the best pancakes I've ever tasted". We ordered the trifecta, and everything was flavorful, especially the pork and chicken. Very quick service, we were sat immediately and taken care of. Good prices for the quality you get.

Adrian R.

Yelp
When ever I come to New Orleans it's a must I visit The Famous Ruby Slipper. I usually go to the one the the French quarter, however we decided to go to the one in Metairie from the airport. We arrived on a Thursday around 1130 am from a long flight . This is a larger spot than the one in the Quarter! Nice ambiance and outdoor seating available. We decided to have brunch drinks. I had a tequila and pineapple juice and my wife had the ruby slipper mimosa. They definitely do not skimp on the alcohol. Too help balance a bit of that out we ordered French Toast bites , the Costa Rican, and the biscuits and gravy. The French toast bites were absolutely delicious! They are standard French toast prices with cinnamon sugar and cream cheese frosting. It is also served with a caramel syrup. Sounds super sweet right? But it shockingly is not and all goes together great! The Costa Rican is a mixture of chorizo sausage, rice, black beans, and fried plantains with eggs served your way on top. The biscuits and gravy was light and flaky with a delicious well seasoned gravy on the top. I completely enjoyed my brunch here and will Always recommend this place!!

Jose T.

Yelp
Excellent brunch spot in New Orleans. Coffee was on point ... although gets really expensive if you ask for a double shot. Drinks are tasty.... But now the food, that's the star ! Everything we ordered was delicious. The pancake was sweet but not too sweet and the salty bacon was a nice touch. Fried tomatoes were crispy and went to another level with the bacon on top. The Benedict's were very solid and with great flavor, we left our plates clean. ... enjoy !

Private C.

Yelp
Ruby Slipper on Metairie Road. The food was good, nice selection with enough options you can definitely find something you want. The service was good, waitress was pleasant and patient. However the prices/description on the menu are different than what was charged. The peacemaker is shown as what looks like $16.00 but with magnifying glass you can see the .50 in small print which wasn't a big deal, but that selection allows you to mix and match two of the Benedict dishes they have for the $16.50 price. I was charged an additional 1.00 for the Crawfish and Grits half of my selection. Which was brought to the managers attention and response was it was because I picked the crawfish and grits as one of my "peacemaker" choices.

China A.

Yelp
I love love love everything about my food!! And my server imani was the best if you go sit at the bar she gives the best advice on food and drinks

Heather F.

Yelp
I had the eggs Benedict and nola iced coffee. There were both great. Our server , sunny, was friendly and attentive. Fun casual breakfast spot. We enjoyed it and will go back.

Patrick J.

Yelp
Had breakfast there. Had eggs, Benedict, great tasting. Good, service, and business very good!! Would go again!

Kim D.

Yelp
Nothing has changed the employees have a serious problem at this location. I went to pick up an order today and they refused to give me the order‼‼‼

Trudy B.

Yelp
the food is excellent but the service is horrible & they keep like building like an iceberg.

Katelyn H.

Yelp
I know that this place has to be good just because of all the rave reviews but I think I caught them on an off day. I ordered the eggs Benedict trio and all of them were cold. I anticipated fried chicken coming out hot so that was disappointing. I ate it bc it had good flavor but I didn't enjoy it as much since it wasn't hot. I'll give them another shot and hope for the best.

Amy S.

Yelp
Enjoyed my meal but it was not worth the hour wait. Service was middle-of-the-road. Not bad, but not exceptional. My Bloody Mary was light on the booze.
