Beachfront landmark designed with 1920s boardwalk wood doling out beers, cocktails & American grub.
"Ruby’s is kind of like Coney Island in a nutshell. This counter-service spot is on the boardwalk, just a few feet from the amusement park rides and the beach. The big, bright indoor space has a giant American flag hanging from the ceiling, loud music playing from a jukebox, and picnic tables that are usually packed with people drinking beers in plastic cups while their kids eat corn dogs and funnel cakes. This can be fun, but Ruby's also gets pretty crowded, so we prefer getting a drink and something fried, then sitting at the umbrella-covered tables right on the boardwalk." - neha talreja, bryan kim, matt tervooren, kenny yang
"Ruby’s is a legendary beach bar & grill. It's the only place where you can still walk under the boardwalk as they have installed some of the original 1920’s woodwork into the ceiling. It features a large wooden bar, old photos, memorabilia, and an award-winning jukebox." - work x work
"Last month it was reported that Coney Island’s boardwalk would be getting a makeover, for the first time in nearly a century. Now, the City reports that restaurants such as Paul’s Daughter, Tom’s Coney Island, and Ruby’s Bar & Grill will likely see rent reductions." - Emma Orlow
"After a hot dog, a beer is what I crave, and my favorite watering hole in all of Coney Island, Ruby's Bar & Grill, is on the boardwalk. It's weathered fierce storms, blazing sun, and Speedo-and-bikini-wearing crowds to serve up suds, drinks, and food."
"An iconic boardwalk institution, Ruby’s touts itself as the only place to still walk under the boardwalk. The bar has been in the same family since 1972 and serves beach-friendly snacks like cheeseburgers and seafood. Visit for a hot dog or a knish and no shortage of cheap beer." - Sarah Weldon
