Yelp
Visiting family after a cruise in Miami Florida, on Halloween night. My wife is Peruvian so we always try to search out popular Peruvian Resturants wherever we travel.
Runas Peruvian Cuisine is an upscale quaint little spot, a local favorite, located in a diverse part of Miami. It is decorated nicely, with white clothed tables. Our server was friendly, he didn't explain any specials or anything, but he seemed to be doing double duty.
The food prices are competitive to similar level peruvian restaurants near Los Angeles. The menu here includes a unique variety of choices.
When sampling a new Peruvian restaurant, we like to try their basic staple.
- Lomo Saltado. Traditionally it's wok fried filet mignon, cooked with tomatoes, red onions, served over a bed of French fries and a scoop of white rice. The combination may sound strange, but the taste is divine. Tender, juicy cuts of filet, delicious brown sauce and fresh vegetables.
My wife ordered Lomo saltado with risotto a la Hunancahina (a creamy Cheese sauce). They eliminated the rice and fries. The taste was a bit different, but still very good. The risotto gave it a nice touch.
I had the Ravioli Aji de Gallina, ravioli pasta filled with Peruvian style chicken ravioli, layered with cheese. The taste was delicious. This is not an item I'ver seen at the average Peruvian style restaurant. But their chef put together an excellent combination with this dish.
Being Halloween night, there was a steady flow of people in costume into the bar next door, which is accessed from inside this restaurant. I gather this is a local favorite and undoubtedly quite popular.
Over all, we had a nice experience. Come see for yourself. Thank you Ronas.
