RYUU ASIAN BBQ SUSHI & THAI

What was supposed to be a great birthday celebration turned into us trying to hurry and leave due to the lack of service we were receiving and witnessing other tables receiving assistance at anytime time. It felt as though we were being profiled as we were the only mixed or black people in the restaurant. We tried to not think of it like that but after time after time not getting assisted without having to get someone’s attention what else could we think… 20% gratuities applied automatically is fine but not with the service we received.

Overall, it's not a place I'll be visiting again. Pros: - Very friendly staff - It's fun to cook your own food over a fire - The menu is decently long for an all you can eat place Cons: - The food itself left something to be desired (personally, I don't like it when meat disintegrates into sand with each bite, nor do I like tofu to have a very sour interior while coated in cinnamon sugar for some reason. I might just not be the target consumer, though.) - The restaurant was extremely loud despite there only being 3 tables full. Most of that is due to the music being blasted. - It was very, very warm. Yes, I know, open flames makes it hard to be cooled down, but they opened a window at the end of my groups meal that made so much difference it was insane. It was just under 70° out, so that speaks volumes. - The restaurant has old wine bottles up as decoration but there were several that had their own pet life forms growing in them that made it kinda hard to eat after noticing. I wanted to like it, and it was fun to have a cooking experience with friends, but personally the only good thing that came out of this for me was the appetizers.

The selection of proteins to BBQ was tasty with spicy options along side nearly plain beef, chicken, baby octopus! It was fun and our party of three adults were very satisfied. We limited appetizers because we wanted fresh BBQ!

Honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had in a small place like this. I'm surprised they haven't expanded yet. The meat for the smokeless grill they have you use is amazing and the family bbq bundle I got with my sibling and Partner was worth the price. The desserts were great too. The waitress for out table was very kind and even gave us an extra helping of miso soup. Definitely going back here again for a special event soon

This place is awesome. Best variety of options for the all you can eat portion out of any Korean bbq place out there. Treated us awesome and gave us free dessert on my birthday. Let us spin a wheel and got a free fried rice to go! Love the food here.

We started with the teriyaki Bao Bun, then got the spicy beef and spicy pork. All the food was fabulous. We enjoyed the sides, sauces and the miso soup.

It was a unique experience. The 2 person combo option was very tasty and fun to grill. I really liked the mustard sauce. They also had the best Japanese whiskey selection I think I've ever seen.

Servers were nice but food was okay. Tried the green curry with chicken and laotian noodle curry and both lacked flavor. The potato samosa was alright. The issue with the samosa was it being room temperature. I expected it to be freshly fried.

I rate Ryuu 3.5 stars. I've been spoiled for Korean BBQ after living in LA. We have been searching Chicago for Korean BBQ that is up to the quality we got used to in LA's KTown, we've tried 6 places and so far we haven't found anything that's close. I was going to rate Ryuu 3 stars but given the incredibly low price I gave it 4 stars. Service = good Drinks = good - I loved the lychee martini Apps = so, so, the tuna with crispy rice had barely any tuna on it Meats = so, so, the bulgogi was ok, the short ribs - tough, the pork belly ok. I would say that Ryuu is a toss up with Daebak in Wicker Park, I think Daebak has slightly better meat but is slightly more expensive. Would I go here again? Perhaps if I was out with friends who are budget conscious. I shall continue my search for great Korean BBQ in Chicago.

Meat selections are great. I liked the spicy bulgogi. This place has a lot of items to choose from which I like. The ambience was nice but kinda dark the lights were not bright enough and I couldn't see whether the meat was cooked or not. The last thing I don't like about this place is the auto added 20% gratuity though you can ask and remove it, doesn't seem right that the restaurant dictates how much the customers should tip. On top of that, there's suggested tip at the bottom of the receipt after all tax and gratuity are added. I recommend this place but I will support other Korean bbq businesses that don't do automatic gratuity on the bill.

A couple orders were missed but I can't blame them for a table of 8. The meat was cooked very well and I found a video from a friend of a kid eating octopus, so it wasn't all bad.

The food was delicious here. I didn't get the traditional cook at the table meat so the meat came cooked but it was delicious. got the bulgogi. Didn't really care too much for the sauces - the meat was great on its own. Which it came with more veggies and the wraps, but only option was rice. I also would have liked a lunch option with 2 meats and an app. 20 bucks for 3 chicken wings, bulgogi, white rice, and kimchi. Would come back to try the all you can eat

Came here for the grill table and all you can eat style $30s per person. WARNING read the fine print! If you Do Not Finish a plate you get charged! So order slow ha. We didn't read it before hand and definitely ordered prob 4 plates too much. Sharing is easy and plenty ha. But we tried so hard and left with just little bites left and they understood our pain ha. But the food was KILLER! OMG so good! EVERYTHING! Black tea on the side was tasty. And such a fun experience to cook it yourself. I wish the server was more informative of the menu as well as how to cook certain things and what seasoning or sauce dip goes best. But they were nice enough to not price gouge us so we weren't complaining ha. Has a cute, romantic vibe. Good for small groups. Not much room for huge tables that I saw. Definitely will be back.

What a great surprise! Hidden gem Asian bbq restaurant! Excellent and friendly service! Clean restaurant and grills. Very child friendly - kids eat free if others doing all you can eat bbq (see website for rules). We took a toddler and infant with success! Best crab rangoon and basil fried rice side dishes. Highly recommend! Very reasonably priced for what you get! We enjoyed it so much we have gone two other times in 1 month!

Ryuu has some of the best Korean bbq in Chicago. Then when you the AYCE element, best bang for your buck, that's for sure. For $32 a person (before tip+tax) you can order almost anything and everything off the menu. Seemingly high quality meats and CRAZY good appetizers. Seriously, don't sleep on the apps. Then, they give you this platter of sides and sauces including kimchi, egg, seaweed, and more. My absolute favorites off the menu are the beef bulgogi, LA kalbi, crab Rangoon, and avocado spicy tuna. The reason I gave this place 4 stars is because I didn't that many napkin or water refills which are definite necessity when you're eating this good. Overall, this meal is well worth it. Fun for the family and makes your tummy happy. Make sure to wear your eating pants!

I am giving Ryuu 1 star because I can't go lower. Let me tell you we have eaten at Ryuu many times in the past, even right after the pandemic, and we always had a delicious meal with kind, attentive servers. The waitresses would bring extra bowls of Korean pickles before we even finished our first, and miso soup was included in our ala carte entrees. Tonight we came with family who had never eaten there before and we were actually embarrassed.First, they have gone to an all you can eat format at $32 a head, but there are cautions on the menu that if you don't finish, you will be charged $5 a head penalty. The menus are shoddy and worn out too. We were not informed of the change when we reserved, nor were we told that a 20% gratuity was included. Service was slow and provided haphazardly. We were never offered seconds, and when we emptied our plates of the meager quantities they provided, the server shut down the grill. The portions of beef were not marinated and were cut in a Much different way than before. We had to ask for rice because they didnt provide it, and the rice was cold, as was the tea. Sadly, we will not return.

I had made reservations for 4, but the kids canceled on us last minute. I called in to change the reservation from 4 to 2, and had no problem doing that. This place was pretty full when we arrived and it seemed like they had stop taking people in. So make a reservation if at all possible, because you might not have any luck if you try to come in as a walk in. We were originally planning on ordering a la carte, but somehow convinced ourselves to do the All You Can Eat. There's a lot of rules and regulations on this, but don't order like an idiot and you'll be fine. The max is two items per person at a time, and that's honestly enough for one sitting. Where you have to be careful is ordering a bunch of appetizers. Don't be a dumbass like myself. The thing is they offer all the popular Asian appetizers. Crab rangoon, fried dumplings, lumpia and a bunch of other popular ones. Yea I did order the ones mentioned. I couldn't help myself. They were all good except for the lumpia. Not the greatest and definitely wouldn't order it again. For the meats, we ordered beef only. We got Ribeye, chadolbaegi, spicy beef bulgogi, and Kalbi. They were all good except for maybe the chadobaegi. It's a brisket cut; but just cut way to think and lacked any flavor. I also ordered their Thai fried rice and it comes in a big bowl. So definitely a lot of food. They also literally all my favorites Asian dishes so it was difficult to choose the right mix. Have to focus on just meat next time. Will definitely be returning.

We got filled alright no doubt about it but it was The worst Korean bbq experience. Went here last night. It was our 3rd time in this restaurant. Seemed like they went downhill from the last time we went here. Anyway, We had all you can eat. Got here about 6pm. Got our meats at 7pm. But didn't get to eat them right away because our grill was not set immediately upon getting in the table. We had to wait for the grill/charcoal to be hot for about 10-15mins! Their cuts are thick - pork belly is cut thicker than usual. That's another factor why it took too long for us to actually eat bbq Ordered beef brisket too - we thought we were given a big slab of meat but it was all clumped up sliced beef. I have never seen no such care in presentation. Probably because this beef we ordered was gluten-free/unmarinated. It seems like they had to defrost it first before serving. Appetizers came out in decent times though. I should have taken pictures for proof but by the time we got our meat I was already annoyed for waiting for a loooooong time. Even the drinks were served about 40 minutes after ordering - just for one Coke and one cocktail. And the place was not packed! Wtf. Our server was sweet but we always had to get her attention to request for something. If she went to our table to check in on us on appropriate times we would not have to bother her. 20% gratuity is already included in the bill so Staff do not have to really put effort for good service. And why don't they serve sesame oil and salt with their banchans?? We had to ask for it and the server seemed surprised for this request like I requested a goat dish. Isn't it a standard condiment in a Korean bbq?? The sauces they served were all sweet. Obviously for non-Asian palates. We do not expect authentic Korean experience here but come on. It seems like they have new management or just simply new staff?? Order plenty the first time you are asked otherwise you will wait for the whole time for an AYCE. We were full at the end but we're truly disappointed and not satisfied with our experience. NOT RETURNING. *I liked their raspbery mojito in all fairness.

I had an amazing experience at Ryuu Asian BBQ & Sushi in Chicago. This place combines Korean BBQ, Thai flavors, and incredible sushi for a unique culinary adventure. The restaurant has a cozy modern atmosphere, and the staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. The Korean BBQ was fantastic, with tender and flavorful meats to grill at your table. Their Pad Thai had the perfect blend of sweet, sour, and spicy, and the sushi rolls were visually appealing and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend trying the Dragon Roll. The service was impeccable, with attentive staff and great recommendations. Don't miss out on their refreshing cocktails and sake selection. Ryuuis a must-visit in Chicago for a fusion feast that will satisfy your taste buds. The quality of food, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere make it a top-notch dining experience. Can't wait to go back!

pretty solid ayce kbbq in chicago. We got a few rounds of the brisket, pork belly, kalbi and all were really delicious but the best part IMO were the variety of appetizers and noodle dishes that are also part of the AYCE menu. The spicy tuna avocado appetizer and fried oyster dishes were delicious. Both seafoods were very fresh tasting. The oyster was smothered in really good sauce and fried to perfection. The avocado that was part of the tuna dish was a generous portion. I really enjoyed it. I also appreciate how vegetarian friendly this place is. You no longer have to ditch your non-meat eating friend to go to an ayce kbbq place! they can pick from 5+ noodle/rice dishes with tofu options, most of the appetizers had a vegetarian option, the veggie options for grilling are also very solid. i will definitely be returning. For $32 per person, it's a tad more expensive than iron age ($28) but totally worth the extra few dollars!

Ryuu is absolutely the best Asian and Korean BBQ restaurant in Chicago- hard stop. I have been to ALL of them in Chicago and no one has better quality of the bulgogi and Kalvi- truly spectacular. Not to mention, their service is always very friendly and accommodating. They also have great options for cocktails. Finally, they are very reasonably priced. The all you can eat option is spectacular! I cant wait to go back!

Amazing food! If you want a good experience, I recommend doing the all you can eat experience. You'll most likely need a reservation to make sure they have a table ready so that you can cook your own food. We go lucky when we walked in as there was a reservation that didn't show up. The food was flavorful and I couldn't get enough. Normally I don't get overly full at these types of restaurants but the food was so good that I couldn't stop eating lol. Lastly, you have to try the ice cream. It was a perfect dessert to end dinner with.

I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday for AYCE. We were hopeful it would be more satisfying and authentic than Iron Age, but left sorely disappointed. The service was a little slow and not the friendliest, despite not being super busy as we were the first table seated after they opened at 3 pm. First of all, the table we were sitting at wasn't very clean. There were food particles on the chairs and the grill had black remnants from the night before. We ended up using pork belly to clean off the grill ourselves prior to grilling our own meat. Secondly, we thought it was odd that the table we were seated at was for 6 people but for some reason the grill was located at one end of this table which meant we had to serve the 5th person who wasn't close enough to the table the entire time. Next, the menu states certain items are available Unmarinated. But when we asked the waitress about getting the rib eye unmarinated, she told us it would need to be a few hours since the meat was still defrosting?? She had a bit of an attitude until we asked her what was the point in having something on your menu if it wasn't available...needless to say, we were forced to eat the marinated version. The worst moment occurred after we ordered the beef brisket. It was the ugliest excuse for beef I've seen in my entire life! It looked like dog scraps and it was very stringy and mostly fat. We couldn't bring ourselves to eat that so we had it sent back. Waitress gave attitude about taking it back and only did so after two members of the party refused to eat it. We stuck with the LA galbi and flat iron beef options which tasted reasonable. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. Not worth it for $42 after tax and tip. Will not be returning under my own free will...

Food was great, meat was tender. I'm not a big fan of cooking my own food. Service was good, but needs better ventilation.

How did this restaurant get 4 stars. 3 stars at best. This is not authentic Korean BBQ. The quality of meat is on the low grade side. Most meat has little to no marinate at all. At the end of the meal, we were charged $5 on a small portion of uncooked food. The conversation goes like this: "the quality of the meat of the leftovers were not good, we couldn't finish it. The calamari is too chewy. The waitress replied. I asked was everything ok earlier. You said yes" haha. Tips for for anyone wants to try this restaurant, make sure you send anything back if it is not good otherwise you'll be charged $5 per portion. The meat was very high quality and we loved all the side dishes! Definitely a lot of options for the price you pay. Service was at times a little slow, but nothing that ruined the experience for us.

Good Korean BBQ in Logan Square! We were there for a birthday and it was a good experience. The seafood was fresh and we had ordered a lot! It a good place to have your kids try new things since they can participate in cooking their meals. They had good appetizers and desserts. It was a packed place at night. While it isn't my first choice for Korean BBQ, I would go back if I was in the area.

We were lucky to find one easily, but I can see how it can be difficult. --------------------FOOD: 5/5------------------- Their meat was great! It's definitely one of my favorite KBBQ spots, especially if you like brisket. And yes, sesame oil and salt is served here to complement your brisket. They had a decent assortment for appetizers and I actually was surprised that they had lumpia, a Filipino egg roll, served here. -------------------SERVICE: 3/5------------------ There were a few times when we had to ask for our order and it took them a bit of time to get it while the restaurant wasn't at full capacity. -----------------ATMOSPHERE: 4/5--------------- It seemed like a normal restaurant to me, however, it was a bit dimmer than usual. --------------------PRICE: 5/5-------------------- Honestly, for what you get, this is a good price at about $32 per person. Especially this place being new. =============OVERALL: 4.2/5.0=========== I'd definitely come back again and recommend this place to my friends for a great KBBQ experience.

I actually super love this place but am only giving them 4 stars because... You kinda have to work it. You only get 90 minutes, so know what you want and order it as soon as you sit down, the servers are elusive and not that available when you're ready to order. For dessert, mochi and is 1 piece per person and you have to pay more if you want more.... A regular dessert portion anywhere you go is 2 pieces.... We have to go somewhere else for dessert because it wasn't really included with dinner. Prosecco is draft and kinda flat but the Chardonnay is pretty paintable with all of the food.

Bad service. Server with a fan on her neck was rude. We asked to change the grill and almost threw out the grill with her eyes rolling. Attitude is the right term. Service was slow especially when you want to refill the meat. It took them a while hence there were no other customers. It's just us and i think the owner on the other table having dinner. Meat was okay. Don't expect too much. There are other AYCE places that is much more okay. Bibimbap was good and crab Rangoons. Will not come back.

Looking for more KBBQ options in Chicago per usual as we are so limited to that good good I am so accustomed to finding back home in LA. We made a reservation for 7:15pm on Wednesday, 2/16/22. When we walked in, the place was packed. I wasn't expecting this considering it was raining outside and it was midweek, but it was a good sign for sure. We didn't get much of a greeting from the employee closest to us by the bar unfortunately. It was weird. The inside of this place is nice. It has somewhat dim lighting, and the aesthetics are on point, especially if you are sitting closer to the front of the restaurant. It's definitely not like your stereotypical KBBQ place. I feel like most KBBQ places are not as aesthetically pleasing and have a different vibe. This felt like it could be an Italian restaurant if it wanted to. Clearly they weren't ready for us because all the booth tables (where we would have wanted to sit at ideally) were full, and the other tables to the back left do not have tables with grills in them so we wouldn't be able to sit there anyways. We waited about 5 minutes, and then the took us to this table in the very very back right which was awkward at first since there was a big party next to it with people overflowing around their table basically touching the table we'd get. I don't know, it just felt like we were put somewhere that was the last option since they likely didn't even realize they had someone who made a reservation. Onto the menu. You can choose to do a-la-carte if you want, or the $32 AYCE option. It just raised from $29 to $32 by the way. Don't expect to find tongue or some more typical LA KBBQ options here. They do have the general options and spicy versions of them which I appreciated. I think if you come here really hungry, it's 100% worth it because of all of the additional appetizers you can ask for. We deadass ordered lumpia and they were the smaller Shanghainese version, but they were actually decent considering we were at a fusion place. They came out hot. But no joke, you could order potato samosas if you wanted, chicken wings, etc etc. The service was not really great here. I'm not gonna rag on them too hard because I know that during the pandemic how much small businesses have been affected and many places are understaffed. I do wish our server was a little bit friendlier though. We told her "thank you" a million times and she never responded to that. It was just weird. She was always in a rush, and we had to keep asking for water refills, grill changes (sometimes would be waiting for a while), she forgot our rice, and just overall it seemed slow. We ordered a total of five meats: brisket, spicy bulgogi, LA Kalbi, pork shoulder, and spicy pork belly. We were not a fan of the brisket at all. Something seemed off, and the way the meat cut came out was strange too. Bulgogi was good, although it didn't have any spiciness factor to it. It seems like they might've just given us regular bulgogi. I reaaaally liked the LA Kalbi though. It went very well with my rice and the sauces. Oh, that's another thing, the sauces here are different than typical KBBQ places. They have this like watery "spicy" sauce, but I didn't see any salt or light colored sauces. I did ask for chili paste, which I our server didn't really know what I meant at first, but then brought it out accompanying sriracha which I was forever grateful for. It would be nice if they had rice paper here though. Lastly, the two last meats we ordered were pretty good as well. Pork shoulder was good as expected and spicy pork belly was also delicious. We honestly probably should've come here only if we were hungrier, because normally we both can eat more. For $32, I don't find it a bad deal if you can eat a lot considering all the meat options AND the appetizers, plus you do get a choice of mochi or ice cream at the end which is nice. With the cost of everything going up this year due to inflation, $32 is probably exactly what I'd expect. I just don't think I'd wanna return if the service is the same. I prefer friendlier and quicker service at KBBQ, but more importantly, QUICKER.

This was my first time eating korean bbq. I don't eat meat so I ordered the spicy calamari and shrimp. The calamari was not spicy and kinda lacked flavor. The shrimp was also pretty plain. We ordered the edamame and veggie dumpling and both were good. The kimchi fried rice was delicious. My friend ordered the beef bulgogi and spicy korean chicken. She really liked both of them. However it ended up upsetting her stomach. The staff is very attentive and helpful.

Wandered in and delightfully surprised at the tasty food and friendly wait staff. Next time I want to try the all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue!

Love this spot and they deliver everytime we dine here! It was a 5pm reservation on a Friday, so we beat the dinner crowd. The server was super friendly and helpful and explained how their AYCE kbbq works. You're allowed to eat up to 4 meats at a time and then order appetizers in between those orders. You would also have to pay $5 for any extra leftovers. We ordered the lumpia, bbq pork  bunbaos, LA Kalbi, beef brisket, bulgogi, pork belly, kimchi fried rice with beef, spicy tuna tacos, and mango and green tea mochi. Highly recommend LA Kalbi everytime! The marinade is on point and really delicious. Service was fine overall and paid $100 for two people since a 20% tip was included. Definitely will return!

Came here with a party of 5 on a Sunday night for the all-you-can-eat option for $32 per person. The appetizers, grilled meats and veggies, dessert - everything was delicious, prices were quite reasonable, and the ambiance is really cozy and fun. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, great experience and highly recommended.

Went for the all you can eat. Was denied because I'm a solo diner despite nowhere on the website saying that you needed to come with a partner in order to do it. I don't know if it was just the specific server not wanting to deal with me all on my lonesome or if it was just a failure to communicate that on their website, but either way, a great shame damper on a night, especially after I had gone while it was pouring outside and then had to unceremoniously come back out. They do have a "single diner" option, but it's not AYCE and they only allow you to choose one portion for $19 dollars. $19! Do yourself a favor and just go to Iron Age.

We have been ordering here for the past few years, but our last experience had made us rethink the cleanliness of this restaurant. See the photo of pad see ew with a blue rubber band. This means that they missed a blue rubber band during the cleaning of the vegetables and during cleaning and cooking of the food. Unfortunate and un acceptable.

Came here for my anniversary dinner with my bf! He wanted to try kbbq so I chose this place. We opted for the ayce dinner for $29 a person. We also bought some white wine for $20 for the occasion. The banchan: I was not feeling them at all. The only side dish I fully ate was the seaweed and thats it. Everything else did not taste or look good to me. With the banchan came a salad. I did not like that either cause it had a carrot puree dressing that didn't taste good. Apps: The crab rangoon were average. Definitely more creamy and less crab meat. I've had way better. The sweet n sour sauce it came with was delicious though. The korean chicken wings were very good. They are less meaty but the flavor was delicious. Meats: we ordered the kalbi, ribeye, spicy korean chicken, and the spicy porkbelly. The kalbi was my absolute FAV, you have to get it! The overall quality and flavor of the meats were amazing! The meat is what made my experience good! Kimchi fried rice: This rice was delicious! You get to pick a meat to go with it so I picked beef. I honestly was debating ordering a second order because it was that good but I was too full. Dessert: I've had better tasting mochi ice cream. The vanilla in particular was very odd tasting, even my bf said so.

The food is consistently delicious and the service has always been excellent. This is a great date night or group setting spot, though not particularly family friendly.

Probably my favorite kbbq place! They have so many good appetizers, especially the tuna nigiri and tuna avocado. I really love the marinades they use for the beef choices and they have a lot of great cocktails to choose from! The service is usually pretty fast and relatively nice. I definitely recommend trying this place out!

Solid place for AYCE Korean BBQ in Chicago, which could honestly use some more KBBQ joints. The menu has a lot of meat options, including KBBQ staples like bulgogi, kalbi (short ribs), pork belly, chicken, and seafood, as well as a variety of more fusion style meats like thai chicken, etc. There is a nice selection of appetizers like egg rolls, dumplings, and crispy rice tuna or crispy rice avocado. Honestly, the crisspy rice appetizers were the tastiest dish we got. The rice was perfectly crisped, loaded with spicy tuna mixture or avocado, and more than enough spicy mayo and unagi sauce (they were so tasty we got another round of each at the end of our meal). The meats were all fresh and reasonable quality, but the marinade and flavor of each was hit or miss. The short ribs and pork belly were both thick and juicy, but some other meats were a bit disappointing like the ribeye which was super thin and too garlicky, or the bulgogi which too sweet compared to other typical kbbq joints. The service was great, there wasn't much of a wait for any of our orders, and the drink menu is surprisingly cheap. At $32 a person for unlimited appetizers, hot entrees (which we didn't get but they have a lot of), and fresh meats, Ryuu is worth a try even if not all the meats hit the mark.

You had me at AYCE Atmosphere: simple, modern, industrial Staff: initially attentive, welcoming, asks about allergies! Food: savory, sweet, delicious! Every meat has it it's mark. Some gluten free options Improvement: Possibly more staff. I believe there were about 2-3 waiter staff for the building. Due to the customer demand it took ~10-15mins to get our food after we order, not including probably 5-10 wait time before we got their attention. AYCA is 90min max so we lost around 50% of the time in waiting. Honoring discounts stated on the website. When I first came in I asked if the discount for AYCE for March, 24 per person, was still valid to which I was told yes. Upon checking my reciept it stated the full price of 30 per person. My patience wore thin and I didn't feel like waiting any more so I sucked it up. Overall menu item variance and pleasing flavors carried my experience but not enough have me as a returning customer

They have both BBQ and sushi. So it was definitely a spot we wanted to check out. $29 for AYCE BBQ ($25 on Wed. and Thurs.). 90 minute limit. Last call is at 60 minutes. Limit of two items at once per person. $5 charge per uneaten item. 20% gratuity included. We made a reservation as it was a Saturday night. It's a small-ish place, so reservations are a good idea. We were checked in by a buser. (There did not appear to be any actual host or anything.) He directed us to wait at the bar while he bused our table. There were two people behind the bar. Neither looked at us, let alone attempted to take a drink order. Why direct us to sit at the bar to wait if we're only going to be ignored? So our table is ready and the buser gets us and seats us. He even explains some of the different menus and everything. Really nice and friendly. Eventually, our server comes over. We immediately place an order for cocktails, a sushi roll, and our two items each for the BBQ. And then we wait. And it was a seriously long time. Our sushi roll came out first. Then one of the AYCE appetizers. Then our cocktails. Then all the extras/sides that come with the BBQ. Then two of the meats. Then eventually one of the other meats. It was really surprisingly slow. Our server forgot to bring us scissors. We didn't even know this was a thing until he mentioned it over halfway through our meal. Same server neglected to mention the different seafood grill. Not when we ordered the shrimp. Not when he delivered the shrimp. Not until 15 minutes into seeing us attempt to cook the shrimp. He then forgot to bring us extra napkins. And twice forgot AYCE items we ordered. And then brought the check without asking if we'd like additional drinks or anything. I guess when the gratuity is automatically included, they don't care about the service? He did have a couple of large tables. But it definitely wasn't busy or crowded enough to warrant such service. Oh well. He was friendly at least. So on to the food. All good and seriously filling. The Kyoto sushi roll was delicious. The crab rangoon was packed with filling and had a great dipping sauce. The BBQ sauces available on the table were great and paired well. The meat items were plentiful for AYCE. All the meats were seasoned well. The "spicy" options were not too spicy for anyone. All in all, totally filling and enjoyable food. The space itself is small and nice. It lies somewhere between modern and dive. Kinda like a dive wanting to be modern. It works. It's a nice ambiance. Not too crowded. Not too loud. The bathrooms were a mess. No toilet paper and way overflowing trashcan. And fair warning, the bathrooms are directly in the kitchen path, so you'll probably get run over by someone carrying things back and forth. We enjoyed our meal. But the service was a definitely downer. Let's just say it's only the 2nd time ever I have seen George C. (an industry person) upset by the service somewhere. And I think that says a lot. TL;DR Great food, not great service.

While the food at this place is undeniably fantastic, the poor service we received during our visit was a major issue. Moreover, our server PJ didn't seem to care about providing hospitable service. For example, she didn't give us any warning when replacing the burnt grill, and she was only responsive when we waved her down for more food. To top it off, she even threw dishes onto our table in a rude and careless manner. Additionally, multiple added charges were only removed because we brought it to light. Overall, it's a shame that such great food is overshadowed by poor service. While I don't usually write reviews, I felt compelled to share my unpleasant experience at this establishment. If you hate your job and think it's okay to provide bad service because an automatic 20% gratuity charge is added to the check, YOU are the problem and should do the establishment a favor and leave.

Super yummy. Loved the asian feeb taco. Amazing. Alll the food was great and the staff was nice and helpful. Would go back again.

Great AYCE Korean joint. For the price, it's a great deal, especially since you can order off their appetizer menu. Don't sleep on the crispy avocado or crispy rice spicy tuna. Also the banchan options are pretty good. The only con is you have to order everything within an hour, and only have 90 minutes total to dine. Considering we had issues with our burner going out several times and had to track down a waiter to fix it, we felt a bit rushed. The drink prices are also very reasonable.

This is the worst K BBQ place ever and the service also sucks. Our male waiter was okay but the female manager was very rude. Our food took awhile and all the meat was just eh, but the squid and octopus were grossed. 1 star for Ambiance but will not come back. They charged 20% gratuity which I don't mind paying but not for bad service.

Who doesn't love an All You Can Eat place?! I love all the delicious sides and things that come out woth your meal. My only complaint would be the quality of meat could be a little better. Otherwise, is a great date spot!!!

Wow, I am incredibly impressed with the quality and service here at Ryuu Asian BBQ & Sushi. My best friend and I finally stopped by here to try their AYCE ($29) for our last holiday dinner and were essentially blown away by our experience. There are other high end Korean BBQ restaurants in the city but Ryuu definitely takes the cake for being affordable and delicious. Their AYCE menu is available year round and you are given a variety of options to select from. The menu consists of appetizers, main BBQ, noodles/rice, dessert, and even soft drinks. While it's not BYOB, you can order some of their specialty cocktails off their extensive bar. Keep in mind that their AYCE soiree has a limit of two hours with 90 minutes being the last order. Firstly, their appetizers were rocking. We ordered their shrimp rolls which were shrimp tails deep fried like lumpia. Their spicy tuna on avocado were also delicious. Since this is a KBBQ fusion, you can expect a variety of banchan as well to be served on your table. When it came down to the meat, we were thrilled at the quality and service. You have a variety of proteins ranging from beef, pork, chicken, octopus, and calamari. Each plate is grilled at your table with the help of a server, and even though this is by far not my first KBBQ rodeo, I don't mind having someone help cook. They were intentional in explaining what each meat was and switched out grill styles to properly cook each one. This was fantastic! Overall, we had a great time here at Ryuu and can really attest to the extraordinary deal that you are getting. Quality and service is tip-top here and we left feeling very full and satisfied with our experience. We didn't try their sushi but honestly, come here for the BBQ and you won't be disappointed.

Food was amazing! Everything was marinated so well and so many different flavors! Very hard to find an all you can eat Korean bbq in the city that's not in ktown and English friendly. The only two items I have feedback on is one, with was the lighting was very dark it was really hard to even see if your meat was cooked to your liking. Secondly, they include a 20% gratuity, which by all means I have no problem with; However, you are really setting up the expectations for service and if you do not deliver, well you then have an upset customer. The service was good but it wasn't great. They just weren't too attentive. None the less overall a very good meal and will definitely be back.

Our waiter was attentive and service was fast. This is the type of restaurant where you just need to flag them down if you need something. I think for tabletop BBQ, it's reasonable that they just leave you to cook. The selection of non-BBQ dishes were good. I liked that there were several Thai noodles and fried appetizers to choose from. Some of the meats share the same marinades so it may get repetitive if you get the same flavors. The only things I wouldn't recommend would be the baby octopus (too chewy) and satay tofu (not marinaded enough). Overall, prices for ACYE are very reasonable and meats are good.

Food used to be good. Now they're average. Absolutely terrible service. We didn't get anything we wanted at the time we wanted cuz the waiter was nowhere to be seen.

I have been here a few times now. All the food I have had has been good here. The A-5 Japenese Wagyu steak was really good. Also tried the Kalbi beef which was top notch. Great spot for a fusion of Asian cuisine...
