I came to Santo Market specifically for their strawberry mochi, and while I did end up getting it, I couldn't resist trying a few other items from their menu for breakfast since we had to line up before 9am to secure our mochi. I ordered the pulled pork, and though it was a bit on the salty side, it came with a generous serving of rice which helped balance it out. My friends tried the poke and loco moco -- they both seemed satisfied, though the loco moco was pretty standard. I didn't try the poke myself since I can't eat seafood, but I hear that's one of their specialties. I do wish they had some outdoor seating. We ended up standing by our trunk and eating in the parking lot.
The real star of the show was the strawberry mochi. I'm not normally a fan of red bean, but these mochi were delicious! The strawberries were fresh and sweet, and the mochi had the perfect texture. We woke up early to get there before opening, and there's a limit of 3 packs (6 mochi), so be sure to get there early if you want to grab them! They gave us a box to hold all the mochi packs as well which was really thoughtful of them. It's best to eat them right away, as the strawberry starts to release gases after a little while, which gives it "carbonated" taste or feeling similar to leaving chocolate covered strawberries overnight. I do recommend going early if you're coming from far away since it's not a guarantee that their supply will last, but people who came 20 min later were still able to order when we were there so maybe the hype has died down.
Overall, the mochi alone is worth the trip, and the breakfast items are a solid addition to the experience. I'll definitely be back.
