"Existing as equal parts panaderia and taqueria, Mi Tradicion wears many hats, and it wears them well. There are some really interesting specialties—including a plate-sized taco stuffed with rice, beans, and a fried chile relleno—but our favorite here is the bistek. It’s seasoned well and cut just thick enough to keep each bite juicy without getting chewy. After you eat just a few too many, stop at the bakery and grab some excellent conchas for the drive home. "In Wooten, the brightly-colored Mi Tradición uses its house-made bread as the base for hefty Mexican tortas. Try the Chilanga with milanesa, ham, and chorizo, or go for the Hawaiana if pineapple is your thing. Every sandwich brings a rich mix of textures and bold flavors. "We’re huge fans of Mi Tradicion, the panadería/restaurant with two locations—one on Research Boulevard in Wooten, the other on William Cannon and 35. Everything from the pan dulce to the blue corn tlacoyos and the al pastor tacos are consistently excellent. We’re also big fans of the tortas there, especially the Cubana, with breaded beef cutlets, ham, sausage, avocado, and chipotle mayo, all served on their fresh bolillo rolls. "Equal parts panaderia and taqueria, Mi Tradición is a good idea at any time of the day. In the morning we’re grabbing conchas, polvorones, and breakfast tacos on homemade tortillas. At lunch, even more tacos, plus tortas made on bread baked fresh just a few feet away. And in the evenings, we’re bringing home an entire tres leches cake to graze on over the next few days. Mi Tradición has two locations, both with the same menu and format—there’s a dine-in taqueria side and a self-serve bakery side where you can quickly load a tray up with way too many pastries to take home. It’s usually well-stocked, but get there in the morning or afternoon to ensure you don’t miss out on any pan dulce." - nicolai mccrary
"Equal parts panaderia and taqueria, Mi Tradición is a one-stop shop for tacos, conchas, and everything in between. The tlacoyos here are excellent—stuffed with beans and epazote, and topped with nopales, crema, and cotija—and we usually like to pepper in some huaraches, picaditas, and whatever else arrives on the blue corn masa. But the gringa pastor served on housemade flour tortillas might be our favorite thing here, packed full of tender pork, sweet pineapple, and a bit of salty cheese for a perfectly balanced bite every time.
