We are traveling cross country and spending the night in Las Cruces. We asked the proprietor of the Inn we are staying at for a recommendation for good Mexican food, she immediately said this is the place to go. The portions were large, quality of the food was great, and our server was fantastic. I love it when the server knows the entire menu and customizations available from memory. Doesn't need to write anything down, and everything comes out perfect. The outside and inside ambience are a must see. Inside, they have large cages with assorted birds, and a couple of fish tanks. The kids and those of us young at heart enjoyed talking to the various birds. The prices are what you'd expect given the inflation we've experienced the past 6 years. Great dining out experience.

This was a great experience. As we walked in, a talking bird said hello and another one said welcome. That was a first for us. Then we were guided through the restaurant, very well decorated. The waiter was funny and animated. The atmosphere was beautiful. The restaurant was packed. The food was one of the best Mexican food I have ever had. Great experience over all.

Found this place while traveling and looking for a good place to eat simply by searching Google Maps. First we were blown away by the number of good reviews and now a few hours later I’m leaving my personal review full of 5 stars. Great place, excellent service, delicious Mexican authentic food. It was well worth it to wait for 40 minutes.

⭐️ A Timeless New Mexican Classic in Historic Mesilla – Great Food, Atmosphere & Western Vibes I stopped in Mesilla, New Mexico while driving from Tucson to El Paso, and this little historic town immediately felt like stepping straight into the Old West. Mesilla is famous for its Billy the Kid history, adobe architecture, and beautiful central plaza — and right in the heart of it sits La Posta De Mesilla, one of the most unique restaurants I’ve ever visited on the road. I found free street parking just a short walk from the main plaza and headed inside. The restaurant is designed in a traditional New Mexican style, with warm adobe walls, colorful décor, and several hidden rooms and hallways that almost feel like you’re exploring an old hacienda or a Western movie set. I grabbed a seat at the wooden bar in one of the side rooms, and the service was friendly, fast, and welcoming from the moment I walked in. I ordered a beef steak plate with beans and salad, plus fresh chips and salsa. Everything tasted great — hearty, flavorful, and clearly made fresh. The restaurant was completely full during my visit, which says a lot about the quality and consistency. For a moment I could imagine Billy the Kid himself sitting at the bar with his crew, enjoying the same lively atmosphere. After eating, I continued exploring Mesilla: the Billy the Kid Gift Shop with its iconic mural, the historic church, and the main plaza. Everything in the area was clean, peaceful, and worth a visit. If you’re passing through southern New Mexico, La Posta De Mesilla is a must-stop for great food and an authentic Western experience.

This place has been here a long time because it's the best ever. My husband's grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins have enjoyed meals here. We finally made it here. Best ever. Fresh chips, tasty salso, very good margarita on the rocks, a coco loco, chimichanga and crispy shredded beef tacos. Our server was pleasant. This place is a national culinary treasure!

La Posta de Mesilla is an absolute gem and a must-visit when you’re in Mesilla. The historic adobe ambiance instantly transports you back in time, and the atmosphere is warm, vibrant, and full of character. The food is outstanding—authentic New Mexican flavors, perfectly seasoned dishes, and generous portions that truly satisfy. From the enchiladas to the sopapillas, everything tastes fresh and homemade. The service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or coming back again, La Posta never disappoints. A perfect place to enjoy great food, culture, and history all in one place. Highly recommended! 🌶️✨

The history this location holds is amazing. All the staff from the hostess to the wait staff are friendly. Greeting all with a smile. Our waiter was friendly answering any question about the menu with ease and sincerity. The food was delicious from the chips and salsa (we had ordered their queso 😋; highly recommend). The classic margarita my friend ordered was spot on. I ordered something different and can't remember the name in Spanish but it means little cup. It was a corn tortilla shell with beans and red chile and meat with slaw on top. One is enough if you enjoy the queso/salsa and chips. Then we ordered the fried ice cream. It did not disappoint. All 3 of us shared. Absolutely 💯 delicious. I highly recommend this place when visiting Las Cruces, NM. You will not be disappointed in their authentic New Mexican dishes. I will be back. Thank you 🙂😋
