Third time here and need to write a review! Carol was my server every time and she is super sweet. Shout out to her. Food is exceptional, haven’t had a dish that wasn’t five stars. Brought my nephews as well and they absolutely loved the food! Especially the fried yucca and sausage appetizer. Atmosphere is perfect, well designed, and wine always on point. A spot for dates, family gatherings, you name it. Highly recommended 😊

When the owner plays vinyl and vibes, you know you found a good spot. Bartender Nicolas makes great cocktails and gives the best recommendations. Don’t leave unless you have desert which are delectable!

Great find while looking for someplace new in the Ironbound. I can usually tell how great an establishment is by the cleanliness of the restroom. The restroom was clean and had a vibe. That made me want to eat there. The choices were great. Loved the calamari and garlic shrimp. My friends' chicken, rice and beans, and yuka fries were tasty, too. Wish we had tried the sangria and dessert. Next time!

Lovely food and service. Really delicious and not the typical Brazilian BBQ that most Brazilian restaurants serve. Be sure to make a reservation so you don’t wait.

Sabor Unido is a fantastic Portuguese-Brazilian restaurant. We came as a large party of 19, and they were very well organized — they arranged three tables for us seamlessly. As soon as we were seated, they brought out bread and water. Our server was kind, attentive, and very diligent throughout the meal. For starters, we ordered the calamari and chicken croquettes — both were delicious. For entrees, our group enjoyed a variety of dishes: roasted chicken with potatoes, rice and beans, hanger steak with sweet plantains, skirt steak with salad, and parmesan chicken with fettuccine. Everything came out correctly and was absolutely delicious. To drink they have my favorite: freshly squeezed orange juice. They also have a variety of drinks and coffee. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu and tres leches — both were amazing. The restaurant is clean, has a welcoming atmosphere, and also offers outdoor seating. We definitely recommend Sabor Unido to others!

The red snapper and wine I had some time back sitting in the outdoor table, before the renovations, were classics. And, now, dining under the brand new and beautiful digs, both appetizers of Brasilian fried chicken and shrimp and garlic sauce were absolutely insane! (how do they make both sauces?). And, I have to admit using up most of the bottle of homemade hot sauce, which was that good with that much of a kick! The old Sabor Unido didn't disappoint, and neither does the new. Walking into the new and improved, I was going to walk back out, until two women at the bar begged me to stay and made room at the bar for me! I'm glad I stayed! One of THE more underrated restaurants, in Newark.

Wow! Same fresh, delicious cuisine. Completely expanded and renovated dining space. Tastefully decorated and yet still cozy. Gil, our server, was fantastic!

We stopped by Sabor Unido which is a Brazilian-Portuguese fusion restaurant a bit late in the evening, hoping to grab some dessert and coffee after dinner—since all the nearby cafés had already closed around 8 PM. Even though most guests were still having dinner, the staff welcomed us warmly, and we were seated without any hesitation. Our waitress, Carole, was absolutely lovely—friendly, attentive, and always with a smile. We ordered the crème brûlée with mixed berries, and it was incredible! Perfectly torched on top and beautifully balanced with the tartness of the berries. The coffee was also surprisingly fresh and full of flavor. Although we only came for dessert this time, we were so impressed with the service and the atmosphere that we’re already planning to return for a full dinner. Highly recommend!

A paradise for music lovers and cocktails connoisseurs. Catch DJ Rol every Friday night for an unforgettable set! Drinks: Caipirnha and Red Sangria The bartenders are true artists, crafting cocktails that are as smooth and timeless as the vinyls playing in the background! Food: Fries I just missed the kitchen but thanks to Louis, I was able to get an order of fries. Perfect crunch and the green sauce was delicious! I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu 10/10, I highly recommend

What a beautiful new space. The food was always delicious and as the name translates "united flavors" combining Brazilian and Portuguese cuisine. Cocktails and service complement the new digs nicely.

I recently visited this Portugal/Brazilian restaurant with my supper club, and all seven of us were thoroughly impressed. The food, ambience, and service created a complete and memorable dining experience. We opted for family-style dining and ordered three starters: grilled calamari, shrimp, and octopus. The standout was the grilled shrimp with garlic sauce, especially when paired with the bread provided. We all eagerly soaked up the garlic sauce and wished there was more on the plate. For our entrées, we ordered the special chicken of the day, steak, cod fish, and the standout dish, which was the cod fish oven-baked in a creamy sauce. I could have eaten that one dish all by myself! The owner was super sweet and friendly. The wait staff was attentive. Btw., all that great food was reasonably priced, can't wait to come back and try other dishes on the menu! As we left the restaurant we noticed the adjacent space was under renovation for expansion of the restaurant. So excited for them! They won't have any problem filling up the bigger space!!!

Such a hidden gem in Newark. Only a quick 15 min drive from Branch Brook, this restaurant was exactly what my friend and I needed after visiting the park. We were able to reserve a table for 2 via Yelp, and the restaurant called us to make sure we were on our way and even accommodated for our lateness (thank you!) Street parking is a little bit difficult in the city, but well worth the hassle. Inside, the restaurant is small and intimate with fun Brazilian music playing in the background. Servers were friendly and helpful. It was my first time at a Brazilian restaurant (not including Fogo de Chao) and she recommended some fan favorites. - Tutu a Mineira: 4/5, pork chop was a bit dry, but the greens were well seasoned and the beans and sausages paired nicely with the dish - Liver steak: 4/5, my first time having liver steak. If you don't like gamey meat you may not like this. Paired well with the sautéed onions and crispy yucca fries. The fried plantains were my favorite side. Recommend to eat quickly or else the liver steak gets too tough to chew Huge portions, great service and warm setting. A bit on the pricier side, so would recommend coming here for special occasions. Looking forward to trying their other dishes if I'm ever in the area. okkk ty for reading :)

What a cute spot in the heart of the Portuguese section of Newark. The waitress was super friendly and helped us with the menu. The food was great , we started with garlic shrimp and pork sausage with yucca. I could bathe in the garlic sauce, I dunked bread in it all night. The pork sausage was perfectly cooked, little crispy nuggets with that little char for extra flavor. Yucca was crispy and I loved that it was also served in bite sized nuggets, I am used to it served like thick fries. For the main I had to get traditional whole codfish. Perfectly cooked, flakey with a simple onion and pepper topping , it was great! Looking forward to their expansion next door

Was looking for a spot to eat before a show at NJPAC a few weeks ago for a decently large party (8 people) ranging from 18-77 years old. We've frequented some restaurants in the area, namely Portuguese, but I personally was looking for something different -- cue in Brazilian cuisine. Experience was excellent. We felt taken care of right away upon entering the establishment and food and drinks were excellent all around. Notable mentions for Caiparinha, Shrimp / Camarao a Guilho, Chicken Brazilian Style / Frango Passarinho, Steak with Onions / Bife Acebolado, Brazilian Porkchop / Tutu a Mineira. Note the "Seabass / Robalo - Broiled head to tail seabass, grilled onions" was not head to tail any longer; head was taken off in case that was a reason you wanted to order it! Will for sure be back in the future!

Truly a gem in the downtown Newark area. The service is excellent, polite and attentive. The portions are large and so is the value! I enjoyed everything I ate. The picahna was a large portion. The meat could have been softer but the flavors made up for anything that was lacking. Make sure to finish your meal with some churros!

Food was really good. Got the shrimp (10/10), steak (I didn't try but smelled great), octopus (9/10) very tender and not too chewy, and grilled salmon (5/10) kind of regular and not much flavor. Was also surprised that it had bones in the salmon filet.

My curiosity led me to Sabor Unido in the Ferry Street area after reading all the rave reviews. Wanting to see if it lived up to the hype, I convinced my brothers and their families to join me for a dinner outing. I started with the Grilled Octopus, and it was fantastic! The Calamari appetizer was delicious as well. My wife and I both ordered the Hanger Steak - a nice change of pace for this Rib Eye enthusiast - and it was incredibly flavorful and tender. My side of sweet plantains and fried Yucca was a delightful surprise. We skipped dessert since my brother brought a cake for the celebration, so I can't speak to those. Overall, the service was great, the food was excellent, and I'd highly recommend Sabor Unido.

I had this place on the list for a while and couldn't wait to try. When I arrived I found parking nearby. I walked into a small, cute place. I sat and my friend was already ordering food for us with the waitress Kauana and she was great! We started with a pitcher of sangria and it was delicious. For food, we had the garlic shrimp, mushroom risotto, yucca, and octopus. It came iyt after about 20 minutes. Everything looked and tasted very good. My favorite was the mushroom risotto! I really enjoyed my time!

Best Brazilian food hands down ever at a restaurant! They don't have rodizio, but all the other dishes are authentic and absolutely delicious. This is the only restaurant I can say tastes just like homemade Brazilian food. I've been here multiple times and have yet to be disappointed. For appetizers, I highly recommend the Shrimp in Garlic sauce, fried yucca and pork sausage, and my personal favorite: frango passarinho. For entrees, the liver steak with onions (a classic Brazilian dish that most restaurants won't serve in the US) is my go to. It's so good that it beats my mother's dish (she confirmed it herself). Once in a while I will change it up a bit and order the picanha (top sirloin steak), Brazilian pork chop with tutu mineira, or the Feijoada (only served on Saturdays in true Brazilian tradition). They also have specialty dishes on different days. My go to sides are the spinach, collard greens and plantains. Save room for dessert! The Brazilian flan and passion fruit mousse are delicious.

Came here after seeing it on Yelps Top 100 Restaurants. The restaurant is very cute with great music. We were welcomed in by friendly staff! The food and drinks were great. My companions and I agreed we'd definitely come again.

Came here with friends for hangout and dinner. We were seated outside and the weather then was awesome for the setup. As soon as I checked in with the app it offered free espresso. The espresso was amazing, and tasty. It lifted my spirits! We ordered Octopus as appetizer and they were freshly made and super tasty when eaten with combination of the sauce. Delicious! Garlic breads were amazing. They were free appetizers. They were crispy, fresh, and the garlic sauce imbued into the bread were flavorful and perfectly done. I ordered encores :) My friends had multiple plates and they looked fantastic. I didn't get to taste their dishes because mine was superb I ordered the Picanha Grelhada / Top Sirloin Steak. OMG. The fat section of the steak was delicious. I had the best steak ever in a while. I would definitely re-order this dish in the future. I had it with Sauteed spinach and fired yucca. Best combo ever. Definitely must if you are interested. Look at the picture I am bookmarking this place to come back in the future. Love it!

So happy we tried this place - the reviews were right about how good the food is and how friendly the people are. The place is small so def make a reservation. We started with coconut lemonade. Omg. Delish. And dessert like - tangy. We shared apps - shrimp and calamari. Both were yummy! For dinner our group had a range of dinners: chicken parm and pasta (wow looked so good!), cod specials, lamb.... All terrific We had dessert - def save room for dessert. We had the mixed berry custard and coconut flan and churros. I would def have the mixed berries again! Will def go back!

Tasty eats. This is a small business, family owned, very quaint with soothing music in the background. I strive to support businesses like this and highly recommend it. All foods we tried was cooked to perfection and served with a smile.

Great service. Food was excellent. Sangria was amazing. Highly recommend the shrimp appetizer. We ended up ordering a 2nd round and bread to soak up the sauce! Our vegetarian friends enjoyed the yucca, rice and beans and fried banana for dessert. (Note: not plantains). They raved about the I had the skirt steak and mushrooms. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Goodness, what new is there to say about a place that already has 500+ reviews? First time there last night, had the grilled calamari entree with sides of white rice, stewed pinto beans and sauteed collard greens. Each and every component of the meal was a star in and of itself, but the greens were another level. Finely sliced in a chiffonade, the greens were quickly cooked over high heat with plenty of garlic and seasoning. They were likely finished with butter - tastewise they were heavenly. Tying it all together was a tableside bottle of homemade hot sauce that was remarkably fragrant (aside from moderate heat). Service was very friendly if a bit on the slow side. It looks like they're getting new digs in the adjacent space facing Ferry Street. The location looks bigger and I hope the increased size isn't the kiss of death as it so often is for family restaurants.

I am in awe to have found this gem. Located in Portuguese neighborhood of Ironbound, Newark, NJ. Please please please check this one out when you are in the area. Everything dishes were made to perfection. Amazing service . The decoration is mild and subtle yet gives you the vibe of calm and relaxing. We went to cherry blossom festival at branch brook park. Then enjoy the lunch at this lovely restaurant. Easter Sunday was so perfectly spent.

The food here was incredible! The chicken special (Franco Assad) was so tasty and the skirt steak was incredibly tender. Our server was very kind and had great recommendations. I recommend a reservation since the place is tiny.

This place was recommended by my friends I make a reservation in advance for Monday may the 13 for 7 people When we came the manager told us that room inside was given to another group of people. They put us outside. It was cold out at this day, but we desired to stay anyway , it was to late to go somewhere else. I ask the young lady to bring some towels, she promised to bring them but never did. They know we were upset but didn't do anything to make us feel better not even apologizing. Will never go to this place again and will not to recommend it to anybody .Food was good.

Service was super kind and accommodating. Food was delicious, I had the risotto. The drinks are kind of expensive (cocktail size) I also ordered a mint drink non alcoholic it was DELICIOUS!! . Would definitely come back.

Wow great restaurant in heart of Newark but parking is quite tough. Very intimate location with limited seating inside and out so reservations a must. All dishes full of flavor and must go to for Portuguese in Newark!!

The food is amazing. The outdoor dining area seemed so private and it was the corner or ferry street. It was our second time and I absolutely loved it here.

No wonder this restaurant was named Yelp top 100! What a wonderful experience. This restaurant is cozy and warm, with a diverse mix of families, friends, and couples dining. We were warmly greeted and sat immediately for our 7:30 reservation. We started with the calamari which was so crispy and fresh. For our main entrees, we had the skirt steak and Brazilian chicken. Neither disappointed. Dessert was also a hit, coconut and Brazilian flan made in house everyday! And don't forget the coconut lemonade ! A must try !!!!

The food was great, service was attentive. We ate inside but next time will eat outside just for a change. A large pitcher of Sangria was pricey so will get a bottle of wine next time. Shrimp in garlic & the octopus were our starters, we had hangar steak, skirt steak, & liver & onions. If you like hot hot sauce try their homemade hot sauce, you can buy a bottle too. Desserts were good. Highly recommend going. They're expanding to the corner.

Tasty food, great service and warm ambiance. We weren't fans of the beans, but that's just us. The meat was soft and juice, the chicken Marsala and the sauce is delicious. The side veggies were crunchy, which I appreciate

We came here after a day of checking out the cherry blossoms in Branch Brook park. It was cute and cozy inside and empty on a Wednesday night. The music they were playing really added to the ambience. We dined inside, but there were customers sitting outside as well. One of the waiters was friendly and nice; the other one wasn't but he was competent so that's what matters the most. The sides were great-- the spinach was sautéed in so much garlic. The beans were smoky and flavorful. The house-made hot sauce was spicy and vinegary and made the beans taste even better. Also loved the grilled salmon, the yucca and sausage appetizer, and the octopus appetizer. Never had a coconut lemonade before; it tasted like piña colada with lime juice, and I would highly recommend it. The portion sizes were large, including the appetizers, so we ended up taking leftovers home. I would definitely come back here if I'm in the area again.

Great dinner last night! Terrific, friendly and personal service. Loved the Shrimp app which I saw on Yelp was highly recommended. Had the Hanger Steak, my wife had the Skirt Steak. Both were delicious. Desserts were also very good. We had the Flan and the coconut Flan. We can't wait to go back!

An absolute gem in Harrison! I met with a friend after a long time and couldn't have picked a better place to catch up. We sat there talking our ears off and the service was exceptional without being rushed. This location is BYOB so we got a bottle of wine to enjoy with the food. Coming to the food, we got the garlic shrimp as an appetizer after reading all the amazing reviews and we weren't disappointed. I got the strip steak and my friend got the red snapper and both were great choices. Each entree comes with 2 sides each so we picked the sautéed mushrooms, sweet potato fries, yuca fries and rice & beans. We ended up packing some of it since it was a lot of food. Would definitely recommend 10/10 to coming here. Also we were able to find street parking on Thursday eve pretty easily!

Me and my family went here for a celebration last few months ago. the moment we came in no one greeted us-ambiance in the restaurant is ok. food have no taste specially the salmon and shrimp. with the price range-me and my family think its not worth it! bad service and the food is nothing special. do yourself a favor and just go to anther Brazilian/portugal restaurant.

This place is amazing! I had the coconut lemonade and it was so delicious! The risotto was perfect! Service was friendly and professional. I came in around 6 it was just me and a small family, around 7:15 the place became packed! Definitely a high traffic area.

This place has popped up on Yelp numerous of times when searching for other things so I took this as a sign to visit. I met my friend here for dinner around 7pm. Parking in Newark is always a hassle, especially by Ferry st. They have valet for $9 but I would say save your coins and find street parking if you don't mind walking a bit. When I arrived at the restaurant, the front door was locked but there were people inside. Luckily, someone was exiting the restaurant so they were able to open the door for me. After I was seated, I noticed that the door was locked due to it opening on it's own. Plus it was cold so every time the door opened, either an employee closed it or a guest closed it. It was a minor inconvenience since we sat by the door but it's something the restaurant can fix. This place is super cozy! Dim lights, live music lightly playing in the background, intimate setting. Definitely a date night spot for sure. Their menu options are great, especially the drink menu. I decided on ordering a caipirinha which was a 10/10! They gave us a small basket of fresh bread which my friend asked for a side of their butter that was DELISH! As an app, we ordered the garlic shrimp which was perfectly seasoned. For our entrees, my friend ordered the steak and I ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. I love how you can choose two sides with your entree so you can switch things up if you'd like. Let's just say our plates were wiped clean LOL everything was delicious! Next time I am bringing my boyfriend for date night!

This is a great spot with excellent food. I had the robalo fish and I loved it. Most of the plates come with the option of 2 sides, but if you get the Brazilian staple "rice and beans" they'll let you choose a third side. Thank you Sabor Unido team.

My husband and I had dinner there tonight and I have to say I was very happy with the service and the food. The Shrimp in Garlic is delicious with an abundance of shrimp and you get to pick 2 side. My husband had the pork chop dish, also very good. The servers were very attentive. This is NOT a byob place. They have wine and a full bar. The owner came out as we were leaving to ask if everything was good. Nice touch! Will be back.

My first visit here was 5 stars i ordered chicken marsala and coconut lime drink. The food was excellent and the service was great. My second visit i got chicken marsala and coconut lime drink, two apps: pork and fried yucca along with the chicken drums app. My partner got the picanha steak. The steak tasted weird, I do not know how else to describe it. The chicken marsala did not taste as good as last time. The coconut drink tasted watered down (it is not an alcoholic drink). The fried yucca and pork was OK. The best item was the chicken drums it was beyond yummy but the rest of our meal was a disappointment. Since we are far from newark we most likely not return any time soon. If we had the same food experience the first time we would've made it a point to return as regulars but the i consistencies between the first and second time is too risky for us to chance.
