Best Restaurants in Waco, Texas | Eater Dallas

"The first non-barbecue restaurant from Terry Black’s is a stunning seafood spot with oysters, caviar service, lobster rolls, ceviche, bisques, and chowders — it’s basically everything one would expect at a classic East Coast seafood restaurant, right in the heart of land-locked Waco. The decor is also on theme, with an interior styled like a classy seafood shack with thin, raw wood paneling and shimmering tiled floors that are evocative of the scales of a fish. There is also a small covered patio with a grand fireplace." - Amy McCarthy

We’ll definitely be back. We were celebrating a friend’s birthday, and from the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Soft lighting and light music set the tone perfectly. My favorite dishes were the Crudo and the Citrus Ceviche. The oyster platter with its sauces was absolutely delicious. We also shared the sea bass, garlic fries, clam linguini, and a 14-ounce NY strip steak. The food truly meets the standards of a refined palate—fresh, well-balanced, and full of exceptional flavors. The attentive service from our server, along with the cocktails and wine that accompanied the meal, made the evening even more enjoyable. And I can’t forget to mention the Basque cheesecake with guava sauce—outstanding.

This meal was a culinary delight! I’ve been to Opal’s twice now, and have been filled with joy at the artful care and fantastic flavors they offer. Both times I had the hotcakes with smoked trout roe, cultured butter, and honeycomb. I haven’t had many flavors that were this divine. Hats off to the Chef that came up with this idea. Wow! I was also thoroughly impressed with the mocktail menu. Tea No. 94 was fantastic. I’m a huge earl gray fan and this drink made me feel like I wasn’t missing out on anything because I couldn’t have a cocktail. We also really enjoyed the smoked oysters. Superb flavor! The Chilean sea bass has the perfect crispy outside and tender, flaky inside. My husband had the filet mignon which melted in your mouth. We even loved the greens that come with the meal. Very unique blend of tarragon, parsley and peppermint. The polenta was so creamy I had to say “wow!” after every bite. Last we had the strawberry bundt cake. It was warm! What a delightful and insightful surprise. So light and fluffy. Every part of our meal had high quality ingredients that were put together in a way to have flavor that was meant to be savored. Thank you to the chef who cooked our meal and thank you to the chef who created the menu! Wow! 5 stars indeed! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
Opal’s in Waco was such a great find. The service was genuinely wonderful, and the food delivered across the board. The shaved-truffle deviled eggs were rich, earthy, and silky, and the lobster mac and cheese had that perfect balance of sweet lobster meat and creamy, decadent sauce. The lobster roll was fresh and bright—though I always welcome a little more lobster-to-roll ratio anywhere I go. The skin-on fries were crisp and perfectly salted, and they happily accommodated my request for the burger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun, topped with a great fried egg and bacon. The ambience is lovely, and the patio is especially well done. A great spot all around

We went for my daughter birthday (20yo). She picked it. Great choice we shared the salmon with the brown butter garlic, the red snapper with the chimichurri, the truffle polenta, bacon powder, broccolini, and the french fries. Both fish were prepared very well both of my daughters liked the snapper the best I preferred the salmon. The pool was good and extremely cheesy. Broccoli was great. I don’t understand the powdered bacon, but it was still good but the french fries… I’m a french fry snob. I was at Hudsen house the day before and I had there skinny fries. These were 1 million times better perhaps the best fries I’ve ever had. It was a very slow casual pace and I eventually paid for my check before we for the feeding because weird things to do. Lovely decor and terrific food.

Google
The best restaurant in Waco hands down and I don’t care what you think. If you like caviar, sea bass, crudo, truffles, lobster bisque, etc.. then do yourself a favor and check this place out. We love it here. Everytime we come I try and remember to write a review. The restaurant doesn’t need any positive reviews. They make their own way here! Food and service speak for itself. But I’ll add to it anyways. Sorry for the pictures of the appetizers and no entrees. We got the sea bass, so good! No other place in Waco is even close.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Opal’s Oysters, and it was an unforgettable evening. Booking our reservation online was effortless, with a user-friendly system allowing us to select our preferred time and the vibrant oyster bar seating. Upon arrival, the hostess greeted us with a warm, genuine smile, promptly escorting us to our chosen seats at the lively oyster bar, where we could observe the chefs’ artistry. Our server, attentive and knowledgeable, made our first visit exceptional by thoroughly explaining the menu and recommending exquisite pairings. We ordered a full-course meal, starting with plump, briny East Coast oysters, their fresh, oceanic flavor elevated by zesty cocktail sauce and a tangy vinaigrette. The salmon lox was sublime, delicately smoky, with vibrant capers and slivers of red onion adding crunch and zest. The crab cake, golden-crisp outside and tender inside, burst with sweet crab, while the mussels, bathed in a fragrant, garlicky broth, were succulent and flavorful. Each dish was presented with elegance, reflecting the restaurant’s commitment to quality. The sophisticated ambiance of the fancy dining area, with its refined decor and soft lighting, created an intimate and luxurious experience. Opal’s Oysters crafted a cherished anniversary memory we’ll treasure forever. Thank you Chris and his staff we will definitely be coming back!

What an amazing place. The atmosphere is absolutely perfect. Elizabeth, our server was amazing. She was prompt on everything, came back to the table at all the right times. She was friendly and recommended great items. The food was so good! Everything was fresh and bursting with flavor. The drinks were strong and flavorful. Opals will definitely be on our “return to” list!

My husband and I love Opals! He recently took me to celebrate my birthday and we were seated at a sweet little table on the patio. It felt we had our own private space to enjoy our meal together! We enjoyed one of the fall cocktails (fig fashioned)! Then shared the steak tartare which was fabulous with the yolk on top. We ditched two entrees and shared the crab cake with several sides. We love Opals shared sides! You can’t go wrong with any of them, but our favorites continue to be the lobster Mac and cheese as well as the creamy polenta! Lastly, we enjoyed the chocolate cake with ice cream and an espresso! Our server, Elizabeth, was attentive, intentional, and joyful! She made sure we were taken care of and right at home. Thank you Elizabeth!!🥳

Yelp
This was truly one of the most wonderful dining experiences I've had in a long time. The food was absolutely incredible -- every bite was delicious. The oysters were fresh and perfect, and the lobster roll was to die for. The strawberry Bundt cake even brought tears to my eyes; it tasted just like the strawberry cake my great-grandma used to make when I was growing up. The atmosphere is beautiful -- such a fun, welcoming vibe -- and the service was just as amazing. Our server, Ali T, was so kind and even took our photo for us. We don't live in Waco, but this meal was without a doubt the highlight of our trip. If you love seafood, especially oysters, you must visit Opal's. It's a gem in every way.

Yelp
A MUST! Incredible food you won't find anywhere else. Amazing! Food, Atmosphere, Staff! 5+ Stars! Our kids were reluctant to go because of the name. However this was the place they compared all the other food to on our trip. Burger Pancakes Steak & Eggs Prawn & Pallenta Allie took great care of us and the whole time! ‍

Yelp
First time trying Opals and we were blown away. My husband and I took a chance on this restaurant for a birthday date night, as we are creatures of habit and don't tend to gravitate towards trying new places. The restaurant is beautiful, we sat on the patio and it was perfect for a romantic dinner. The service is hands down, some of the best we've experienced and the food and drinks matched the rest of the experience. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by and trying the redfish and crab fried rice! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
This is now our absolute favorite place in Waco. Neigh the world. It is so quaint and fancy at the same time. The service was fantastic. Not snooty given the white tablecloths and fancy water pitcher, but down to earth friendly. We had the lobster bisque and it was close to the best I've ever had. She had the shrimp cocktail and I the oysters. Both very fresh. The Maine and Nova Scotia oysters were briney yet sweet. The horseradish and the mignonette were top notch. The truffle deviled eggs were astounding. So creamy, so good with a light truffle taste. The Salt and Stone cocktail was very light with oyster infused vodka they make in house. Such subtle flavors. Finally I had the "frenchie" oysters. I can sincerely report that this dish is among the best I've EVER eaten. Bacon and onion jam with gruyere cheese atop broiled oysters. It was almost a religious experience. Knowing this place exists, we will gladly drive several hours there to dine. Magnifique!

Yelp
Last night, Opals Oyster's on the patio exceeded expectations. The exceptional cuisine showcased standout dishes like Smoked Salmon Lox, rich Lobster Bisque, fresh Baby Wedge, and divine Caramelized Cauliflower. It's a place that takes you away from the rest of the world and into the Paris, France restaurant scene.

Yelp
A seafood lovers dream. Ambiance is outstanding. Chic and clean. I recommend sitting on the patio which is covered. Great options on the menu such as Chilean Sea Bass, lobster and oysters from PEI. All the food was fantastic. If you like a thicker, steaky fish, go with the Texas Redfish. If you want a rich, buttery fish, go with the Sea Bass. The sea bass filet was thinner than typical. If you're a fan of capers, go with the Crudo Plate which came with salmon, hamachi, snapper, and tuna. The hotcakes were a great side dish to share. They are thick and the perfect amount of sweetness. Soups are made in house. Excellent wine list and beautiful stemware. We went with a bottle of Sancerre which pared perfectly from start to finish. Service was very attentive. There are several server assistants around ready to clear your plates and refill your wine and water. Excited to go back and try more of the menu!

Yelp
Walked in on a Sunday night for a table for two. My friend wanted to use her gift card that wasn't loading properly and the hostess was super friendly and helpful and figured it out for us. We ordered a lobster roll and drinks. Lobster roll had good flavor and the pickle on the side tasted homemade. The drinks took a little while to come out but were very good. I really loved the fancy, quiet vibe inside; perfect for date night. I need to come back for oysters!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Shut the front door and take all my money. Excuse me, but food porn in your mouth. The flavor, especially with the oyster! Holy cow! My husband will make the 3 hour drive just for the "Frenchie" oysters. It's an explosion of flavor like you've never experienced. You've been warned. Everything else was delicious. Also, sign me up for more deviled eggs. Holy sheet! Ok, ok...come for the food but enjoy the customer service. Stevie! You nailed it. She provided us with excellent customer service and being your genuine self was appreciated. Recommendation, trick more customers with your sister! Ha! We will be back ANYTIME we are in Waco. This is a MUST on your Waco bucket list. P.S. the ambiance is perfecto.

Yelp
Three stars for excellent service and ambience. I really wanted to love this place, but almost $40 for four small scallops (with no side dish included) it was definitely disappointing. My friend enjoyed her lobster roll. We split the ceviche which was very bland (and again, tiny portion). I wasn't impressed with the food considering what I spent.

Yelp
3.5 stars! For seafood lovers, this is the place to find oysters, scallops, fish, and more. We ordered: Oysters on the half shell (two types) Butternut squash soup Roasted cauliflower Herb salad on the side Chilean sea bass Scallops Lobster roll Cheesy polenta Crab fried rice My friends enjoyed the wine selections and libations while we waited for our meal, watching enviously as the tables to our left and right were served before us despite the couples arriving after us. Other than the serving snafu, the food was delicious and plated prettily. My soup was a bit lukewarm while the cauliflower dish was a bit liberal on the salt. The side herb salad was just that ... a few pieces of basil and chives dressed with lemon. No salad greens, lol, so imagine my surprise. Since our meal came late to the table, we were the last remaining foursome in the section of the restaurant and turns out that makes for a quieter dining experience. Just be careful of the real candle that served as table lighting -- lovely romantic glow but our graduate felt the flame a couple of times reaching for the shared dishes. Street parking only. Check them out.

Yelp
This restaurant has it going on! From the moment we walked in, the front-of-house staff was friendly and attentive--special thanks to Sierra for making our visit so welcoming. The restaurant is decorated in exquisite taste and creates a cozy, inviting ambiance that makes you want to linger. We started with oysters, and our server Leslie gave fabulous recommendations that did not disappoint. For dinner, my husband enjoyed the Texas Red Fish with brown garlic butter sauce--absolutely delicious. I had the seared scallops in truffled yuzu butter, and they were cooked to perfection--truly amazing! We also shared the crab fried rice, which was packed with flavor. To top off an incredible meal, we indulged in the Burnt Basque Cheesecake with brown butter crumble and guava coulis--pure bliss. Opal's Oysters is a must-try when in Waco--outstanding food, friendly service, and a warm, elegant atmosphere that ties it all together.

Yelp
Oysters were hands down delicious and a great variety, we ended up ordering more! The prawns/grits were a little to salty and dry for my liking but overall good dining experience and I would come back for more

Yelp
Waco is not known for high quality fine dining, but it has been evolving with Terry Blacks and new 1928 Hotel. Opals is a new spot that just opened right behind Terry Blacks and it should not be missed! Best parking is at Terry Blacks and walking over or street parking. | F O O D | Smoked Salmon 6/10 - well balanced and big app NY Strip 8/10 - incredibly moist and tender Cheesy Polenta 8/10- truffle and cheese YES PLEASE! Caramelized Cauliflower 6/10- kinda bland wanted more herbs and salt Belgian Chocolate Cake 7.5/10- warmed up slice! | A T M O S P H E R E | Quaint and small indoor space making it intimate elevating the fine dining experience. The round bar perfect for just going to get a drink and outside area is full of greenery to make it enchanting in its own way. | O V E R A L L | Opals is a breathe of fresh air as overall the food and atmosphere fit the tone of the place. The prices are higher, but so is the quality and service as each dish was well balanced. Newly opened and perfect for a special date night. Will be back 8/10

Yelp
Our favorite place to eat in Waco. We haven't had anything bad, but get the Sea Bass and ceviche!

Steve C.

Yelp
We have been dining at Opals many times and always leave having had a great meal and service, thank you!

Yelp
This restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night, which is a good sign. We made reservations for 8:30 PM And we're able to get a seat outside by the fireplace. It was a chilly night, but they have enough heaters out but it was very pleasant. We had the tuna tartare as an appetizer and it was outstanding. The lobster bisque is amazing with large chunks of lobster and a nice piece of bread on top. The lobster mac & cheese also had large chunks of lobster and was just the right amount of cheesy with the shell noodles. The best dish of the night was the Chilean Seabass with the chimichurri. I will probably return to this restaurant almost every time I am in Waco.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Made reservations for four for lunch on the patio. We were sat on the sidewalk, in March, and it was so hot! They didn't have umbrellas out, but hopefully they put some out for the summer. They do have a covered patio, so be specific when asking for seating when you make reservations for outside. The ambiance was bougie in a small town. I had the lobster roll and it was delicious! The french fries were good. The restaurant is VERY expensive, especially for eating in Waco. The food was great, but due to the prices, I would not visit here often. If $$ is not an issue, then go for it. It was delicious!

Yelp
Tried Opal's this weekend. Had a reservation for 9:30 and they bumped us up to 9:09 when we kindly asked. Was a good move because we didn't know they close at 10! We unknowingly shut the place down and they were just as kind and patient with us as ever. Our server was very kind, attentive, and informative, and the food was tasty, beautiful, and thoughtful. We ordered zero gulf oysters, two of the west coast, and two east coast (great white). The great white was our favorite-- such a great balance of clean and bright flavor. Looking forward to returning and trying the other east coast options; I believed there were two other options. We also ordered the peach burrata as we love ourselves some burrata. While we wish the peach flavor was more present, we loved the brûlée on it and the other flavors meshed so well. The burrata was perfectly salty and went perfectly with the sweet sauce, greens, and salty burrata. Only wish they would include a crostini to add a crispy texture to the plate. For entrees, we ordered: I ordered the Clam Linguine-- this was such a pretty dish. The pasta and clams were cooked perfectly, and the sauce was creamy and bright. Everything I want out of a seafood pasta dish. My husband ordered the Cheeseburger for variety and because it looked special. All about trying a good looking burger. It had an egg on top that we ordered medium. T'was yummy but we wish the bacon was a bit thicker and the seasoning on the hamburger patty were more present. Still worth trying if you like a classic cheeseburger with a twist, but I think we'll try the Red Snapper (as recommended) next time. The decor and ambiance inside was on point. We spent quite a bit of time taking everything in and commenting on the aesthetic. Sides: There was a good variety of sides though they could use one more veggie or two. Sides were large and enough to feed 2-3 people. We ordered the Parmesan Fries- perfectly crispy and the Parmesan brought some nice, salty flavor. Nice to pair with the burger or have a nice crispy side for contrast to much of the menu. Glazed Carrots-- I am not usually a big fan of cooked carrots but if all cooked carrots tasted like this, I could be a convert. Wish I had more room in my stomach to eat more of these! Will definitely be ordering again. Dessert: Strawberry Bundt Cake was recommended by our server and the perfect end to our meal. Not too sweet and flavors balanced well. Reminded us a little of a strawberry shortcake. Sitting inside Opal's we found ourselves saying, "This doesn't feel like Waco!" Much more like a spot you'd find in a bigger city. So glad they're here. Waco needs more spots like this-- places with good, creative food, and stellar aesthetic. Found out they are owned by the Terry Black's folks. Would be fun to see a collab! Hope they do well!

Yelp
The restaurant was amazing! We sat at the oyster bar so we watched the chefs preparing everything coming out of the kitchen. Was very impressive to see. There were three of us. We tried the lobster bisque and clam chowder. Lobster bisque was delicious! It had a puff pastry on top of the soup and large lobster pieces throughout. Two of us had the lobster roll. It came with fries. The roll was great! It had extra seasonings I've not had on a regular lobster roll. It was very good! One of us had the snapper. Beautifully cooked and very good as well. The restaurant's exterior and interior is beautiful. Staff was great! The server was attentive and helpful with questions. If you happen to be in Waco give this place a try!
google avatar

Bridgett B.

Yelp
Great quaint upscale dining with a casual feel. The servers stay busy. The selection of food choices are plentiful. If you're an oyster lover or just curious to try, this place is definitely worth a visit. Great vibes and they even have an outdoor seating area if you prefer fresh air during your dining experience.
google avatar

Simone J.

Yelp
Just leaving Opal's. Excellent service by Tyra! We had the Blue Point, Goldilocks, and Permaquid oysters. Small but delicious. Recommend. So very fresh! The bread and butter is so, so good. The Chico-Chiller is deceptive. Thinking they didn't put enough alcohol in it. Then bam. So beware if you're a light weight. Between the 5 of us, we had brown butter scallops, mussels, hoe cakes, and clam linguine with lobster mac with crab fried rice. Recommend all!! We also tried the strawberry pound cake and lemon tarts. Perfect if you want dessert but don't want anything too sweet. 5 stars is really 4.5 because I feel like the portions could be a little bigger for the price. Call ahead if you have a party bigger than 4 and want to sit inside during the hottest months in TX. Loved the decor inside and out.

Yelp
Had dinner for Valentine's Day and it was fantastic! We sat in the enclosed patio and it was so nice. There were plenty of heaters and they provided a blanket if needed which was so thoughtful. The blanket was not needed as the temperature was perfect. The Prix fix menu gave us the opportunity to try different menu items. We devoured everything except the herb salad served with the seafood entree - didn't really care for that. Everything else was delicious. Service was attentive and courteous. Music and vibe was relaxing and comfortable. Great experience!

Eric M.

Yelp
Yes, excellent seafood....in Waco, TX We decided to stop in waco for the night and check out the Magnolia area....yada..yada...yada. For dinner a quick walk from the 1928 hotel took us by a few cute little spots that we nearly entered. When we saw Opals, it was too cute to resist. Quick, simple and flavorful was the gameplan. The wedge (delish) Linguini with clams (delish) and the Scallops (delish) The star of the show was the clam chowder....a slight smokiness from what I am guessing was a smoked bacon, put this dish over the top. Totally amazing, maybe the best I have ever had. Enjoys! (Hailey was great too)
google avatar

Gary W.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant with very good food. Only complaint is food is a little overpriced. Especially in Waco. But loved the place. Oh and they need more oster choices.
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere, service and drinks are top notch. Everything I've eaten here is delish, the oysters are just too tiny for $4 ea. they have several varieties to choose from and we tried 3 but all too small. Still love everything else about opals and will keep returning.
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
This was our second time to Opal's and it was fantastic. We sat outside on the patio in the evening and it was lovely. Our server was friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations. In this trip we had the lobster roll, salmon, and broccolini. And a side of the spicy crackers because we loved them so much from last time.

Denise H.

Yelp
The very best atmosphere, the very best service, the very best food! Round two of 49 year anniversary was such a blessing. My husbands steak was cooked to perfection. Appetizers were awesome and the best salmon I've ever had.
google avatar

John J.

Yelp
Tried Opal's for lunch. Service was excellent. Love the ambience. Way overpriced however. $28 hamburger is the most expensive hamburger I have had in the world, and this is Waco! It was good, but no hamburger is that good!! Disappointed in the two best selling type oysters that were recommended. East coast - Very briny, small, and not a lot of flavor. Crab bisque, with a puff pastry, was pretty good but a bit too much tarragon.
google avatar

Ariana A.

Yelp
Arrived at Opal's on a Tuesday night with no reservation and we're sat immediately. Our server Andrea was so personable and easy to talk to. We started off with oysters, and then moved on to mussels, sea bass, and the crab fried rice. All of which were definitely something to write home about. Great experience and ambiance such a needed addition in Waco!

Hank R.

Yelp
4 out of 5 because at times the service (like drinks) could be slow. BUT....awesome food. Chilean Bass like butter. Perfectly cooked. Awesome redfish. Polite and knowledgeable server. Nice sides. Lobster Mac and Cheese and Lobster Bisque were particularly memorable. Drink menu was innovative. Wine list extensive. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Warm hospitality, beautiful decor and fresh oysters is what one can expect. This is the first of its kind restaurant here in Waco and I was so happy to see that Opal's was completely packed with customers. This town can definitely use more establishments like this and I hope they will be here for the long haul.
google avatar

Dana C.

Yelp
This is definitely one of the best dining options in Waco. We had the steak tartar, sea bass, scallops, cauliflower and wagyu burger. All of our food was delicious. The service was great. We also enjoyed talking to the maitre d, Robert, who told us the owners of the restaurant are the Terry Black BBQ family. It's a lively, vibrant restaurant and a great addition to Waco.
google avatar

Rick S.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Oysters were fresh and good but on the small side. Service was slow but polite.
google avatar

Mandy H.

Yelp
Stopped in for a appetizer and beer before a event in Waco and the place didn't disappoint. Food is very fresh and service is excellent. A nice quaint spot in the downtown area of Waco. Outdoor seating with heaters. We had a 1/2 dozen east coast oysters and the lobster bisque. Excellent .

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Wow, I was surprisingly so underwhelmed. Two cocktails Diet Coke Broiled oysters (3) Ceviche Clam chowder Lobster Roll Texas redfish Server Ana was lovely and kind. Everything tasted good. The skin and or the chimichurri on the redfish was SO salty. And that "petite" herb salad was just sprigs of basil and parsley. No reason why it could not have came with an actual salad. The lobster roll came overdressed in some kind of mayo dill situation. You can't taste the lobster at all. Seating was awful. It's our first time so we didn't know. Sitting at the patio bar meant baking in the sun the whole time. I can hear everyone's conversations. No fans outside so it just smelled like BO and perfume. I had to ask for the umbrella to be opened and they assumed it was the party of four behind us who requested it. They didn't acknowledge me or the fact that the sun was STILL beating down on us at 7pm. For the amount we spent, I wish they offered a better dining experience. Who would want to eat in the sun like that? In Texas??? If we came back, I think we'd only bother with the appetizers.

Donald T.

Yelp
First, the venue is simply gorgeous. It has a fabulous option for outdoor dining. We had the oysters of the day and they were the best oysters I've had all year. I wanted to order more but I had to stop myself. Our bartender/server Mandi was really attentive and she created me a drink that wasn't listed on the menu. She greeted us with a warm smile, the moment we sat down. Customer service is amazing. I will return.
google avatar

Lewis P.

Yelp
Great attentive service, gorgeous design, impeccably clean and genuinely crafted to satisfy the customer. Oh, and the food is to die for. KUDOS!!!
google avatar

Lucinda Y.

Yelp
Seriously so delicious! This is arguably Waco's best fine dining restaurant if you are looking for an upscale and intimate place to be. We sat on the inside oyster bar and got to watch all the chefs at work, it was quite impressive. Nothing you order here is bad-- everything is delicious and presented so thoughtfully. They have an array of oysters and serve it well. It is a great place for a special occasion, be sure to make a reservation on their website because they fill up fast. They have indoor and outdoor seating.
google avatar

Sheena B.

Yelp
We took a day trip to Waco and decided to check it out!! Everything about Opals is amazing! The ambiance, service and food were all top notch!! Will definitely be coming back when I'm in town!!
google avatar

Darrell T.

Yelp
French style oysters were excellent, very good wine selection, broccolini side was great, tartare was good, scallops were good (a little small for the price), and service by Jacob was excellent! Desserts missed a bit. The lemon tarts were good, but strawberry Bundt cake was too cake-y, not moist enough. Could use more of a sauce or whipped cream (or smaller cake portion).

Yelp
We went for my mother's birthday celebration and it was an incredible experience. They even wrote a hand written note to her, thanking us for coming. The server was a local and was very calming. The oysters were amazing, raw and broiled. The lobster roll & mac and cheese were spectacular... the cookies were a bit underwhelming but the sorbet was good. The cheesecake was AMAZING! Ambiance was perfect, even the bathroom smelled great. The New York strip was perfect. MUST GO if you're in Waco!

Yelp
This place is fantastic. From the ambiance to the food... it is seriously amazing. We tried the lobster roll, the burrata with honey comb and grilled peaches and blackberries, the oysters, lobster mac n cheese and my kids split the smash burger and fries. It was seriously amazing start to finish. We ate with our two small children and they brought the food out very quickly and we were able to eat and get out before an epic rainstorm hit. Highly recommend this place! Service was top notch too.

Yelp
Wonderful food!! Lobster roll was great and so was the fried rice with crab meat. We sat on patio and it was a great setting for nice afternoon. Great ambiance and great service.

Yelp
Man oh man. In my opinion, and all things considered, Opals is the best restaurant in all of Waco. Might be on of the best in all of Texas. The food is amazing, vibes are the best, decor makes you feel like you're on vacation in Nantucket. Service was excellent, an overall great experience every time.

Yelp
We spent our first wedding anniversary here and were completely blown away! We ordered Ceviche, tuna tartare, Sea bass, lobster bisque, 2 different wines, an espresso martini and every single one was cooked and flavored to perfection! The staff even wrote us a sweet note and gave us a complimentary dessert! We will absolutely be spending future holidays and date nights here! Waco NEEDED this!!

Yelp
Food was exceptional... fresh and flavorful... well seasoned. Drinks are primo! I suggest making reservations... especially on holiday weekends... ask for Elizabeth ... she is wonderful , has an upbeat personality and full of great suggestions.

Yelp
I stopped in on my way back to Dallas to try out Opal's. I only tried the lobster bisque because I honestly wasn't that hungry but had seen a video about this place and wanted to try it out. The soup was bomb! I'm going to go back and have dinner on Saturday. Oh! I also had a lemon drop which was pretty good. Service was 10/10. Nice restaurant. I really do want to go back and try some other items on the menu. The drive is about 75 mins. Not too bad.

Food was incredible Service was fantastic Ambience felt like we weren't in waco Only reason I don't want to recommend it is so we can still get a table. It's amazing!
