Asian-inspired pastries, croissants, tarts, and bread

"Nearby, Deuki Hong owns the titanic Neighbor Bakehouse." - Paolo Bicchieri
"Baker Greg Mindel slow-ferments his dough, which lends a distinctive tangy taste to his exquisitely flaky layered pastries. Neighbor products are available at top coffee shops around the city—but the best, most experimental tastes are here at the source (don't miss the sauerkraut, smoked cheddar, and peppadew tart studded with black sesame). Pro tip: Order two. You won't regret it." - Hearsay Supper Club
"If your hobby includes “waiting in line for pastries,” you'll love Neighbor Bakehouse. The raspberry hazelnut twice-baked croissant (our personal favorite) at this walk-up bakery is fantastic, and if you pair it with pretty much anything else here, you won't be disappointed. From savory stuff like kimchi toast to sweet things like German coffee cake, it’s hard to go wrong." - lani conway

"A renowned bakery in San Francisco, known for its connection with Paper Son Coffee pop-up and its downtown café." - Paolo Bicchieri
"Find Sol Bakery typically on Mondays (with the occasional Saturday) at various coffee shops and bakeries around the city including Neighbor and The Coffee Movement. The pop-up bakery has a rotating seasonal menu, but their mainstays are what you’ll want to focus on. The ham and cheese puff is like a more compact version of a traditional ham and cheese croissant, concentrating all of the flakey layers, meat, and dairy into a few delicious bites. Also order the cardamom bun that’s chewy, soft, and barely sweet as well as whatever focaccia they haven’t sold out of. You’ll find a lot of neighborhood regulars constantly refilling the line, so be sure to find the hours and dates on Instagram and get there as early as you can." - Patrick Wong
