Where to Enjoy a Glass of Chardonnay in The Bay Area This Summer | Eater

"This Mill Valley favorite has been open for almost 90 years. The dining room is both comfortable and stately in its dimly-lit, lodge-esque way, but grab a table on the patio for the full summer-in-NorCal experience. Pair a glass of chardonnay with their oysters “bingo,” similar to oysters Rockefeller, and don’t miss the s’more pie, which is an institution in and of itself." - Vox Creative

17 Essential Restaurants in Marin County

"This former hunting lodge with a cozy bar and a stirred, never-shaken Manhattan has gemütlichkeit in spades. Diffused light from horn-shaped chandeliers and a kindled fire in the hearth reflects off burnished wood panels. Chef Robert Price stamps the time-honored American menu with an updated, seasonal style. Start with Oysters Bingo and smoked chicken wings, then choose a meaty protein (braised lamb shank or barbecued baby back ribs perhaps), before finishing off an epic meal with a slice of s’more pie, a.k.a. Marin’s favorite dessert." - Christina Mueller

Where To Eat Pie for Pi Day

"Road-trippers and Mill Valley locals have been flocking to this whitewashed Craftsmen Bungalow since 1937 for California-influenced American fare—think Oysters bingo over spinach, topped with garlic aïoli. The restaurant's dessert menu is short and sweet: slices of a lofty s'more pie or Key lime with a granola crust, or butterscotch crème brûlée." - Sophie Friedman

Waited 15 min to bring us the water. This place is nice. Love the vive . I ordered grilled liver. It was small and taste ok. There's other restaurants that taste better. I just want to try this restaurant. Im sure the fried onion taste good a lot of people order them

Charming Spot with Great Vibes and Tasty Food! We stopped by Buckeye Roadhouse without a reservation and were lucky to get a seat in the lounge/bar area — and honestly, it was perfect! The atmosphere is cozy and stylish, with a touch of historic charm. The old building has so much character, and the food was delicious. From the decor to the service, everything felt thoughtfully put together. Even without a table in the main dining room, we had a great experience.

Google
I have only been there twice, but they are two of the highest quality, most memorable meals I have ever had. The service has been top-tier, the seats and tables are comfortable, the booths are thoroughly gangster, and the dessert menu is off the chain. Now that they are serving brunch, I can see myself traveling up there from Half Moon Bay at least once a month. It is so darn good. I must ask what the heck you are doing reading this review when you could be eating at the Buckeye Roadhouse?

Google
I was really surprised by the amazing hospitality and quality of the food at Buckeye Roadhouse. Definitely recommended if you’re looking for traditional American cuisine. Try the onion rings!

Ararat M.

Google
Incredible smoked meat dishes and the best brisket I’ve had so far. The mac and cheese was also outstanding. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy some truly delicious meat.

Google
Incredible restaurant with an old school vibe. Classic American comfort food done at a high level. Very popular so i do recommend reservations. Great experience.

Google
Our first time at the Buckeye Roadhouse was a wonderful experience... Food was delicious! Service was attentive. Food was served in a timely manner. Oysters Bingo are fantastic! Similar to Oysters Rockefeller, these are a notch up in my opinion... Sorry my picture of the oysters was after they were eaten. They were so good I forgot to take a before picture!

Benny K.

Google
Great quality consistent dishes! Okay, wine by the glass selection. Bottle wine starts at around $100. Good services and locally known for several decades. Living wage 4% charges. We adjusted our tips accordingly.

Yelp
Date of Visit: 9/27/2025 We visited the Buckeye Roadhouse in Marin County after our afternoon hike at the Muir Woods. Buckeye Roadhouse was opened back in 1937, offering contemporary American cuisine at the rustic dining room with warm ambiance. We didn't make a reservation beforehand and waited for about 20 minutes. We ordered two cocktails at the bar and waited at the seating area in front of the register. Aperol Fizz $16 Husband ordered the Aperol Fizz with Hendricks gin, aperol, lemon, and aquafaba. Pearfection 16 I got the Pearfection with Pear Vodka, Elderflower liquor, fresh lemon juice, and rosemary. Sweet with the smell of pear and rosemary. Barbecued Baby Back Ribs $31.5 For the main course, I ordered the smoking barbecued baby back ribs, and on the side with grilled corn on the cobb, and cole slaw. 12oz Brandt Ribeye Steak $49 Husband got the medium rare ribeye steak with blue cheese and bacon stuffed mini baked potatoes. There were green basil sauce on top and red chili sauce in a separate bowl. 2022 Robert Craig Cabernet Sauvignon $19 Husband got another glass of red wine. This 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon "Le Fleur Craig" is from Napa Sonoma County.

Yelp
My wife and I came here due to it being under Resy reservations and the Amex Gold Card perk. It helps us find new and fun places we wouldn't normally go to! We ended up going here on our way up to Dillon Beach and we both really enjoyed it. They take their NA drinks seriously and had great options which included zero-proof liquor. My wife had an NA whiskey sour and I had a regular, great to see more and more places give some love to their mocktails. Food was good but not incredible, the ribs had good flavor but not enough flavor in my opinion. They were a bit dry too unfortunately and didn't fall off the bone as much as you'd like. In any case this place is great and we would definitely come back, we also love the vibe!

Yelp
I really like the service. Can't say enough good things about Katherine. Helped us navigate the menu, told us about the specials, and paced the meal appropriately. It had been a few years since my last meal here, and I forgot how cool the place is in terms of vibe. I had a flank steak perfectly cooked. Medium rare to order. My friend had the burger and loved it The fries were also very good -- crispy and plenty in number. The red wine by the glass was a nice pour. Spanish, Tempranillo. Will return to Buckeye when in the area. Check it out. -- Workingman's Gourmand

Yelp
We are visiting from Texas and this restaurant was highly recommended. The parking is a nightmare but worth it! We actually parked across the street. The restaurant was very busy and we did not have a reservation but were seated in about 30 minutes. The pearfection cocktail was just sweet enough. The rolls were amazing. The kale and mushroom ravioli was scrumptious! Dim lights, white tablecloths set the ambience.

Yelp
Buckeye Roadhouse is heaven on earth for me. Plain and simple. I've been thinking about the crisp martinis with blue cheese olives (quite literally, the best I've ever had), the skirt steak with chimichurri (the best thing on the menu IMO), and the baked lemon pudding (this is the only correct dessert option - the recipe went viral online for a reason) for days now! It's all SO good! And don't get me started on the ambiance! It's just perfect. For a date. Anniversary. Birthday. Breakup. Celebration. Regular/shmegular day. This place is perfection. No notes!

Yelp
After a long day of bump'n around Marin, going on hikes, we came to the ever so popular Buckeye Roadhouse for some delicious food. Thankfully, I had made a reservation weeks in advance, but parking was kind of stressful as we had to park across the road. Like the rest of the bay, while it looked fancy, Buckeye Roadhouse had very casual vibes, so there wasn't that much of a dress code. Food was very delicious and they were super accommodating to splitting up the entree by doing it themselves! Definitely highly recommended if you find yourself on this side of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Yelp
Nice spot we keep driving by but never stop. Inside feels like an old school tavern with a nice warm feel, even though the fans blowing on the tables in the bar were a bit too high (and cold). Tried the calamari, pork chop, special cod (from Monterey bay). The overcooked, and somewhat chewy calamari had a nice crispy coating and that green chimichurri was excellent. The pork chop was spectacular as was the super tender and well executed cod. Almost like Chilean seabass! The sticky toffee pudding was also excellent. And we especially enjoyed the additional 4% "living wage" add-on to the bill. I personally feel this should be the restaurants responsibility to take care of and NOT the customer.

Yelp
Revisiting another classic steakhouse our family would frequent for special occasions. An early dinner (5P) on a recent Saturday as a party of 4 and everything was just as we remembered, a lively bar area and the elegant, lodge-y dining room. Friendly and attentive service, tasty cocktails, and delicious food. Special shoutout to the perfectly fried calamari; my entree, the juicy and tasty ribeye; and my HUGE and totally appropriate for sharing, key lime pie. We were there for a birthday and the comp dessert for the birthday gal was the smore pie; birthday gal enjoyed it! We had also put our orders in for dessert cakes and pies with our server and unfortunately, a power outage killed the ordering system before she could add in our after dinner drinks. Next time, we'll get 'em! Service really ramped up after that, especially since the dining room was filling up with the next wave of diners. Staff handled the snafu well and gave us contact information for when they would be able to run our bill, which would be the next day. Overall, a pleasant experience, even after the lights went out.

Yelp
We went to Buckeye Roadhouse on a Friday night around 630pm without a reservation. The place was already very busy but we got a table in the bar area after 30-40 minutes. We ordered the oysters bingo and the Buckeye smoked chicken wings as appetizers, we then shared the skirt steak and the butter lettuce salad. For dessert we tried the S'more pie (very light and fluffy). Despite the restaurant being very busy our waitress Christy was very attentive and the food came relatively fast. The restaurant is tucked away at the exit of the highway. There's a small parking lot in front of the restaurant and more parking space across the street near the underpass. Highly recommend this place if you're visiting the area.

Yelp
Lovely, historic old steakhouse atmosphere with terrific food!! Grand main dining room with huge stone fireplace. We ate in the bar as we had no reservations for Saturday afternoon dining. GREAT cocktails!!! We had Osysters Bingo (their delicious version of oysters Rockefeller) and Mac and Cheese for appetizers. My rib eye steak was perfectly coooked with herbed butter on top! DELICIOUS!!! STAFF WAS FANTASTIC! Highly recommend! Sorry no food pictures - we were hungry and gobbled up the food before the camera snapped!

Yelp
Having dined there for at least one family members birthday celebration over the last 10 years, I apologize for not reviewing until now. Positives - the strong bar program, classic and creative cocktails well poured and a well curated offering of wines by the glass. Oysters Bingo (didn't have last night but reliably delicious), butter lettuce gem salad with blue cheese and the salmon and the ribs and the burger all are satisfying. That said - the special last night was the filet mignon beef stew ladled over Parmesan risotto and it was sublime, well suited to another cold and dreary evening. Our wait staff was professional and efficient and we enjoyed watching the bartenders in their element managing the long bar so efficiently, it's fun to watch when it's done well. Negatives - when I made the reservation on Open table, I put in comments that it was my partner's birthday and we'd never eaten at a table in the bar/lounge all these years, and could I please make a reservation there. I guess I should have called instead to confirm and secure, when we arrived, we were told those tables were all full (they were not, we could see that, no reserved signs either) and we were instead seated at a two top in the main dining room which would have been fine for any regular weekday dinner but for my partner's birthday request. We waited a few minutes and they were able to honor our request, but only after my partner intervened. Rare that we do that. We will return, but I guess we will need to call next time to make sure we can get a table in the bar instead of using an online service.

Lolita E.

Yelp
Everything is wonderful here. From the staff to the ambiance to the food. We celebrate our birthdays here. Food is delicious and I've never had a bad experience.

Yelp
All the hallmarks of excellence, but as time passes the classic roadhouse has faded. The idea of higher level service has all but fallen apart at this establishment. Severs interrupt, reach over the table with no regard. No finesse and no class. It's unfortunate. It's a rush to get you seated. It's a rush to get your order. It's a rush to get you out the door. Maybe it was just the night I was there, I'm certainly not taking family back here for a relaxing meal. The food is as it should be, the kitchen hasn't changed. We always get an Artichoke and Oysters. The Brisket is huge, we split it. Past visits have always been enjoyable, the service has always been amazing in the past. Gone are the old days. Bloody Marys are basic at best, they are strong. The Beer menu is sad, however, The wine list is tip top.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this gem while driving by, drawn in by the smoke coming from the chimney. A quick search showed great reviews, so we decided to give it a try--and I'm so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and bingo oysters. The calamari was perfectly fried, and the oysters were packed with flavor--no slimy texture at all! The spinach on the oysters was balanced and didn't overpower the taste. I would definitely order them again. For entrees, we tried the filet with potatoes and spinach, ribs, brisket, and sweet potatoes. The filet was cooked exactly to preference tender and not overdone. The spinach was delicious, and the ribs were crispy with a perfectly glazed finish. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the sweet potatoes had just a hint of maple, offering flavor without being overly sweet. We all enjoyed every bite, and the service was fantastic it's a shame I didn't catch our waiter's name. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely stop by.

Yelp
Stopped by Buckeye Roadhouse for lunch and even without a reservation, we were seated quickly. Started with the black cod, then the smoked chicken wings - absolutely incredible with their homemade bbq sauce. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming!

Yelp
Had an early Wednesday night dinner at The Buckeye with my mom this week. She had the halibut special. Over sweet corn polenta, with shishito and Jimmy Nardelli peppers. I went marinated skirt steak with chimichurri, sub mash for the truffle fries. We split a Ceaser and the onion (st)rings. 3 Old Fashioneds between the two of us. Then we got the (5) beignets, each had one, and she brought home the rest. The waiter was an awesome dude, they packaged up all the leftovers for us, and we took all the time we wanted to talk and relax. Honestly one of the best Marin restaurant meals I've ever had.
google avatar

Evangeline L.

Yelp
Amazing vibes and drinks. Service is super attentive. Food is above average. This is definitely a great place to go for all occasions - date night, celebratory dinner, girls night out, etc. Love the interior design of this place. Taking off one star since we have never been seated on time with reservations so expect to wait for your table. It doesn't bug us too much since we just go to the bar and wait around. Overall, it's a nice place to go when in Marin
google avatar

Natalie R.

Yelp
It was just alright. Not terrible. But I'd never go back. Service was just standard. Flat. Brisket was dry. Mashed potatoes were great. Pork chop was great, cauliflower was not good. Weird over seasoned, turmeric taste. Spicy pork sandwich was good, but the potatoes were again, over seasoned with some all spice type. Reported to taste kinda like a Doritos chip. Beautiful room but meh, obviously a tourist spot.
google avatar

Wac H.

Yelp
Been to this place a few times since it opened years ago. Very good when it first opened. Just went back and now just ok. Since all of the good restaurants in Marin are gone since the 70's 80s 90s, it is prob better than most. Onion rings ok, ceasar ok, pork chop ok, chicken above ok, skirt steak not ok, too thick for skirt steak which is norm tough anyway so it needs to be cut thinner and I ordered it medium and it was rare. Lemon pudding thing was very good. Service just ok, room is very nice. My guess is the 4 or 5 stars are from people that are too young to know a really good restaurant. A 5 out of a 10 so I would not go back.

Isabel Y.

Yelp
Our server was so so kind. We had a truly incredible and perfect meal for my man's 40th. The wines, the wings-truly special, the special salad was heirloom tomatoes, grilled watermelon slices and pecorino! It was incredible. Then our mains were perfection too. We had the brisket and the ribeye. No better way to end it than the coconut pie. It was a beautiful night. Thanks to everyone at Buckeye!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. This place is a classic. We had a great dinner this evening. The main room where we sat has a big stone fireplace and plenty of windows. We shared the Oysters Bingo, which are like a very rich version of oysters Rockefeller or Florentine. My husband ordered the pork chop and I had the brick chicken. The sides were interesting (polenta sticks, cauliflower) & they were as tasty as the main dishes. Well worth a stop.
google avatar

Keyla L.

Yelp
Food, service, hospitality was great. I forgot to take a picture of the Polenta sticks YOU NEED to try them now ive had chimchurri on my steak plenty of times but the one they have in house is truly like No Other. If you come i need to remind you GET/ORDER the Polenta sticks you will not regret it, unless ypur lactise i dont really know ingredients in them then take a lactose pill thats how good they are youll miss out. Cant wait to come back here! P.s shout otlut to jordan coming in for our first time ever he was very helpful on what we should order.

Kat T.

Yelp
Excellent service!! Jordan is an amazing server and the food is delicious. We stopped there for lunch and would definitely go back when visiting California. Just ask for Jordan. Very warm and welcoming restaurant. The decor is warm and inviting.

Yelp
We came back for another birthday dinner exactly one year later and sadly both dishes we ordered were completely different than they were the year before. My fiancé had the chicken and when we came here in 2024 it was SO GOOD. Super flavorful and moist. This time it was all fat and chewy, not flavorful at all, and quite dry. The Petrale Sole last year came in a delicious white wine sauce and capers (and maybe mashed potatoes?) and this time it tasted bland and dry and was served with boring veggies. Did the chef change? We were super disappointed after having such a great experience before. They're always busy, but it was a little frustrating to sit down and wait 15 minutes before our server came over and all she had managed to ask us at that point was if we wanted water to start. In that time we were ready to order more than water but so it goes. Also not sure why they asked the occasion when we made the reservation because they don't (or at least didn't for us) do anything for the birthday.
google avatar

Dulce M.

Yelp
My husband & I hadn't been to Buckeye Roadhouse in years due to a poor experience with a waiter. But then we got a gift card from our daughter & we returned to one of our favorite restaurants in July 2025. We sat at the bar & had dinner. Jeff, the bartender, made our experience positive from the get-go. He smiled & he was pleasant & attentive not just with us but with the other customers as well. We had the baby-back ribs, corn on the cob & perfectly cooked crispy fries & awesome cocktails. All so delicious. The ambiance at the bar also lent itself to a wonderful time overall. In these challenging times, great service & delicious food are more important than ever.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
The bacon wrapped petite filete mingon was great, and for a side I highly recommend the scalloped potatoes. It's a bit loud in the corner on the upper level, next time I'd like to try the main dining hall if it's available. Across the street in the big bus lot, under the freeway is lots of parking, check it out to see if it's totally legal to park there. I did at night.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Food service and ambiance all 5 star! From our perfectly crafted classic cocktail to the attentive service to the to our satisfying meal ... ALL met and exceeded expectations! Haven't been there in years and the return trip did not disappoint this San Franciscan and fellow Californians!
google avatar

Niki R.

Yelp
Make a reservation, it's pretty easy to do and will save you waiting 1.5 hours for a table. This is a fun place to come. The ambience is sort of urban Ahwahanee, fire going in the fireplace, antlers on the wall, the crowd seems to skew a bit older but is lively and relaxed. Some people were dressed up, we had sweatshirts and sneakers, it was all accommodated equally. Ask for a downstairs table if you can, upstairs is still fine but not as grand as the first level. We were split on our food satisfaction. Skirt steak, Wedge salad, Pork sandwich were all loves. Chicken wings and Filet mignon were good. Our waiters were efficient, if not especially personable. My water glass was never less than half full. The appetizers came out very quickly but it was a rather long wait for mains. The parking lot was self parking but apparently sometimes there is required valet, which seems odd as we do not live in LA. Everyone wanted to come back again. We were too full for dessert but they looked tempting and big enough to share.

Yelp
This place is legendary! You walk into the Buckeye and you're instantly thrown back into a cozy lodge from 100 years ago! The staff are top notch professionals and treat you like guests in their own home. My last visit Christy took care of us and my group had a wonderful time. The steaks are all great but I love the ribeye and the smoked brisket is special! They have a house made BBQ sauce which does great with the skinny cut onion ring hay stack. They have so many dishes to choose from and I haven't had a bad experience yet. Their potatoes side are all amazing. The scalloped potatoes are my favorite but last time I went with the mashed potatoes instead and they were creamy and delicious. Try one of their signature cocktails or have a Pliny the Elder. And make sure to save room for dessert!! If you live within 100 miles from Mill Valley get yourself a reservation to the Buckeye!
google avatar

Yelp
The manager did acknowledge our disappointing evening and provided a $200 credit on our meal. That was above and beyond. We were also invited back to rewrite this experience. We have not done so yet, but will give them another try. Peter: you continue to go beyond making things right. We'll absolutely be back again. Thank you for the personal reach out and response to my overdue updated review.

Yelp
I had a good time here. The Moscow mule was zesty and it actually came in a copper cup. The atmosphere can be loud, but this restaurant is popular. It was busy here, so it did take a little longer for the waiter to take our order or even to give me some water. The ahi tuna was quite good and very filling. I highly recommend the artichoke dip.

Paul M.

Yelp
Delicious food it was super busy but they got us a table fast bread & butter was bomb I love that butter started with the calamari and 3 dips also got their ipa some of the best ipa I had in awhile got the skirt-steak with garlic fries and finished off with the key lime pie the s'mores was good but had too much almonds service was great so I will be saving this for next time
google avatar

PaHoua L.

Yelp
I've eaten here twice now and have not been disappointed with the service, ambiance, or flavor of the food. The onions rings come in a big mound and are thinly sliced and crispy. The polenta sticks are deep fried and amazing. The tuna melts in your mouth and the dressing on the salad is so tasty. Two of my companions ordered the liver dish and said it was incredible. Others in my party ordered the ribs and steak -- delicious all around. Two of us ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I thought the fries were crispy and salted just right, the coleslaw was really good and I normally don't like coleslaw, and the sandwich itself had a great bun and the pulled pork had good flavor. I didn't have dessert this time, but the last time I came, our group ordered maybe 4-6 desserts to share among us, and I remember everything was scrumptious. I was just overstuffed this time and unable to move forward with dessert. The drinks are great. You won't be disappointed with any of the options! I had just 1 cocktail and it was all I needed. There is a paved lot and a dirt lot out front. If parking is full, which it usually is during dinner, you can park across the street. Bathrooms are clean and at least the women's restroom has an almost full length mirror. The interior of the restaurant has a classic, historical look and feel. The exterior has beautiful flowers and greenery, as well as garden lights that come on in the evening. Make a reservation! Lastly, this place is on the pricey side, so save it for a special occasion.

Yelp
Came here after work to celebrate a friend/coworkers birthday. I reserved our dinner reservation on line from "open table" and it was so easy to set that up. I got a reminder email about my reservation and that's was really nice. We came right after work and I felt as if we were under dressed, but none of the staff made us feel like that. As soon as we walked in we got welcomed and seated immediately. We had a super nice waitress that gave us all great food recommendations. She was so patient with us. The location of the restaurant is so nice, it's almost hidden and almost a very pretty secret. Inside it's an almost completely different world. As soon as you walk in it's the bar (a bit louder and a bit more crowded) then you can go left and that's the restaurant more space and quieter. There's an upstairs part of the restaurant. The food was delicious and I loved being there and enjoying it with my friends. I can't wait to come back

Yelp
My son and I recently stopped here on our way home from a roadtrip. We chose this place because we wanted to support something local instead of a chain, and were hoping for something better than fast food. My son wanted to eat on the road so we could get home faster, so I confirmed with the front desk that they could accomodate a to-go order before ordering. Food: My son enjoyed the coconut shrimp, but my pulled pork sandwich was definitely not worth the price. The restaurant basically just shoved a cheap bun in one container made for soup, and one scoop of saucy meat (mostly sauce) in another container made for soup. I was not provided the chips or potato salad as advertised on the menu. No napkins or utensils were provided. The "sandwich" alone was over $20 and it was mostly just a bun and sauce that tasted like vinegar. This place was an overpriced bust IMO. Ambiance: I can't speak much to the ambiance since we didn't eat in the restaurant, but in the 15 minutes we waited for our food in the lobby: (1) I overheard one staff member talking about how much weed they had smoked recently, lol and (2) a male/father patron waiting for a table with his family snobbily remarked that this was the type of place you stay/sit to eat when he saw we had ordered to go. Parking: Parking was difficult due to limited spaces (most of which were full). There is a parking lot across the street, but you must cross traffic entering the freeway to get there, and there isn't a crosswalk #deathwish. TLDR: Food wasn't that great. Not a place I recommend risking your life to eat at, but that's just my opinion. For whatever it is worth, this place did seem popular.

Yelp
After passing by on the freeway my while life, I decided this was the place I wanted to go to celebrate my 65th birthday with my brothers and a friend. It's a beautiful restaurant, with a nice warm ambience. I ordered the steak with a side of spinach. Service was excellent and attentive. Cooked perfectly the steak was accompanied by little Bleu cheese stuffed potatoes. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. For my birthday treat, I was presented with a slice of their Smores Pie...Graham cracker crust with rich chocolate, topped with meringue that was toasted on top. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Beautiful Christmas dining experience. The Buckeye Roadhouse knows how to make a girl feel like royalty, serving up steak perfection after a day of holiday shopping and girl therapy. Open since 1937, Buckeye Roadhouse is the best Marin County and is as historic as the Golden Gate bridge. It's a magical mix of old World charm and modern American cuisine make it a wonderful and memorable dining experience. . We enjoyed the: Polenta Sticks, Portobello Mushroom Crostini, Wedge Salad, Artichoke dish, Marinated Skirt Steak, and Smoked beef Brisket. -Wonderful and welcoming service. -Private Parking lot.

Yelp
Does it get better than this . The Ambience is off the chain and or the bar . Even if you get the food to go , it sets the standard for the best fine dining at home in Marin . They never drop the ball . The brisket is Wowzers .the Mac n cheese with ham dreamy . The split pea soup best ever ever made. You can't top any of their desserts. Top restaurant in southern Marin .

Yelp
I returned to this restaurant on a Friday night. I received great service; the bartender remembered my drink, and I did not have to pack my to-go bag. Thanks for a great service! Sincerely, Janet

Yelp
Even though I grew up in Marin, I didn't get to try Buckeye Roadhouse until about 5 years ago. I have several times since, including celebrating two birthdays there including my most recent 50 birthday lunch in January. *Food: *Appetizer: Onion Rings, so yummy, but a little tricky to eat. The dipping sauce was exceptional, these would be good on top of a steak or a baked potato, they are like onion strings, not a typical thick ring *Brisket: I have ordered the brisket at least 3 times that we have come here and are never disappointed, juicy brisket, the potatoes are to die for and the sauce pulls it all together *Zoe's Cobb Salad with Shrimp: A lot of blue cheese, but the shrimp were outstanding *Pulled Pork Sandwich: Delicious French Fries and Pulled Pork, big enough to share *Desserts: We couldn't decide, so we shared a Coconut Cream Pie and our waiter was nice enough to send us home with the birthday "S'More Pie", since we were quite full at that point. Ambiance: The walkway up to the restaurant is like a little garden vibe with flowers and plants, great pic op, inside is homey and like a rustic lodge vibe with a huge fireplace in the main dining area downstairs, we requested a window booth seat, which they accommodated. Check them out, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Hello yelpers, Took my girlfriend to dinner at the buckeye on the way back north from the city. The food was great, just it took a little long for it to come out. The place was very busy. Ambience was good. I would say it's an older crowd for sure. Felt like my service could've been a little better, but feel since we were a younger couple we weren't prioritized. Overall it was a good experience though, I would probably give it another chance.

Yelp
Baby back ribs undercooked (meat hard to bite off bone), calamari chewy (likely frozen), Brisket dish very dry and over-cooked, children's bow-tie pasta was extremely over-cooked (pasta almost mooshy and sauce tasted like it came out of a tin-can), Buffalo wings were completely naked (zero seasoning or flavor. They just threw a wing in the fryer and called it a day) Staff Service (non-existent) Not once did my server my table, "How is everything or how was your experience this evening?" The ambiance was a 9/10. Very classy and old school vibes! Fire hearth, marble floor at entrance, old wood wall interiors, and nostalgic memorabilia.

Yelp
We came early and asked to be outdoors. Service from Katherine was phenomenal...friendly, efficient and anticipated our needs! We ordered the Oysters Bingo...rich and flavorful grilled oysters with Cheese and Spinach.next we had the Grilled Artichokes...done to perfection! And a side of Onion Strings...non greasy and crispy! For our main, we ordered the Brick Chicken and it was the best! Juicy, Crispy and Flavorful. I had the Grilled Shrimp Cobb Salad. It was gigantic with Four Grilled Giant Shrimp! Everything was perfect! Kudos Buckeye!

Yelp
So, first, I read the reviews prior to arrival. Perhaps a mistake in our case. Read where some folks of color felt they were seated upstairs in the back corner. And we walk in & my family(of color) & I got seated on the top floor in the far corner... So that's how we started. My cousins came to the table and asked why are we crammed upstairs in the far corner? They've eaten here lots of times, never were seated upstairs (they are not of color) All the employees seemed really nice. However when they split our bill, they added $40 to our bill. Nope, didn't drink enough to not be able to add! Our food was good. Lamb shank was great! We'd never heard of this place before our cousins suggested it. I probably, now, know why.

Yelp
I've brought my family here many times over the years... Tonight I walked into the bar to grab a bite and a beer while my kids attended a birthday party. Food was great. Service was weird, then ugly. The bartender loudly asked to see my id, which is great because I wrote "check id" on my credit card, but the attitude and stink eye coming off the bartender even after seeing my id was so off putting people around looked at me and each other in shock. I wanted to puke my dinner all over the bar. Kinda wish I did. I suspect if you're of a certain ethnic persuasion you shouldn't expect to be treated well here.

Yelp
This place should be a oeefect score: amazing micatjon with views , great drinks , world class food and ambiance / charm for miles! Whats missing? Service and that has been an issue for 20 years. No exception on this recent occasion. They were polite but slow, broke glasses on the table, messed up more than one order and so on. The food was great ...artichokes, sole, steak and the Chicken salad. The old fashioned is made with eagle rare, manhattan was also great. The dining room felt warm and inviting. Maybe someday they will get to five.

Yelp
I'd like to comment on the hostess that helped us get a different table than what we were originally reserved for, two times! Her name is Alyssa and she was very sweet and accommodating despite the extremely busy time (New Years Eve). You could tell she enjoys Hospitality, she'd be a great manager, I think. The food was great. Oysters bingo is my favorite there. Great salad, great filet mignon. Warm and cozy ambience. Only think is the fireplace gives off a butane smell, which is why we asked to Move (our table was right in front of it)
