Organic produce, local vendors, coffee, pastries, and flowers

"A neighborhood farmers market with a friendly, community-oriented vibe that draws regulars and local food businesses; vendors sell seasonal produce that inspires nearby bakers and chefs. Shoppers and vendors often bump into acquaintances, creating a sense of synergy and connection, and the market is prized for its late-season tomatoes (favored for their flavor even when 'ugly') and items like shishito peppers that are used in savory bakes." - Lia Picard

"Held year-round at the Carter Center every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., this market features farmers and vendors from around Atlanta and north Georgia, doubles SNAP dollars, and uses an EBT-card scanning system that exchanges benefits for tokens to be spent at booths." - Jennifer Zyman

"Farmer's Market Where Food Meets Politics Atlanta is ripe with farmer's markets and the Freedom Farmer's Market, held weekly from March to December at the Carter Center, is one of the better ones. It has less stalls than others around town, but many of the vendors come from much further away to showcase their goods. Grab a warm pastry from the Star Provisions tent and a pour over coffee from 1000 Faces Coffee of Athens to sip as you wander the stalls. Bring your own bag to take home your haul of produce. Each week a local restaurant holds a pop up tent to showcase a unique dish only available there. You may even see former president Jimmy Carter walking around!"

"Held in a parking lot adjacent to the Carter Center on Saturdays, this market is operating via preorders with chef pop-ups and food vendors required to package food to-go and bar on-site consumption. Safety measures include hand-washing stations and hand sanitizer at each booth, increased spacing between booths, contactless payment options, and designated preorder pick-ups with vendor contact information. Shoppers are asked to point to items rather than handle them, keep an arm’s-length distance in line, avoid lingering after shopping, and the market doubles SNAP dollars—EBT cards are scanned at a central tent in exchange for tokens to use at booths." - Beth McKibben

"At the Freedom Farmers Market at the Carter Center I take part in Tomato Sandwich Day (starting at 9 a.m.), where Jenn Robbins of Good Foods Kitchen serves tomato sandwiches to raise money for Wholesome Wave Georgia’s Georgia Fresh for Less program and the event includes a tomato tasting and a demo by Tiny Lou’s chef Jeb Aldrich." - Beth McKibben
