"This speakeasy behind the buzzier Normandie Club in Koreatown (which is inside the Normandie Hotel—got that?) is dark and beautiful , but the main draw is the seriously inventive cocktail program. The themed seasonal menu of about ten drinks changes every four to six weeks. The “Pacific Coast Highway” menu, for example, offered the Big Sur, made with, among other things, Douglas fir eau de vie, Islay Scotch, and tea fog (black tea infused with tobacco and cardamom, then mixed with dry ice since, you know, Big Sur is foggy). A key at the bottom of the menu provides icons to help you navigate; there are ones for “refreshing,” “boozy,” “savory,” “rich,” etc. Truth is, you’d be wise to talk to someone on staff; their knowledge and enthusiasm for quality and uniqueness is impressive. PRO TIP: Don’t feel like something crazy? Ask to see the separate menu for classic cocktails, which isn’t readily handed out. THE DETAILS: Wednesday to Sunday only. They hold a very small number of seats for walk-ins, but you should reserve online (there are only 27 spots). There’s a two-hour time limit if they’re busy." - Condé Nast
