Art space with diverse exhibits, jazz concerts, and improv jams

"Technically sitting in Logan Heights, Bread & Salt is an art enthusiast’s attraction that’s a stones throw away from Barrio Logan. It sits in a beautiful old industrial building, with touches of modern renovations in the parts I’ve seen, including murals decorating parts of the exterior. There is a cluster of people that speak high praise about this gallery / event / studio / artist residency space, but I have yet to witness it in it’s full capacity. Only way to find out what’s going on is on their Facebook page, or through the KPBS and Reader websites." - Product Etc.

"I note that Bread & Salt, in Barrio Logan, is a former commercial bakery turned arts center that still houses one of its industrial mixers (which will be incorporated into Provecho! Coffee Co.'s permanent counter); the building contains upstairs office spaces — including Jerry Guzmán's Casa129 studio — and has an outdoor patio and garden along Julian Avenue that the new cafe's design will activate." - Candice Woo

"Opened in 2013 in Barrio Logan, I consider this building one of San Diego’s most dynamic hubs for arts and culture; Bread & Salt occupies a 40,000-square-foot space that houses a brewery, galleries, and workspaces for a number of artists and community groups, and the site—originally a commercial bread-making facility starting in 1891 and continuing for over a century—was always intended to include an eatery, which is why it will soon be home to the Pan y Sal food hall. Its developer, Jim Brown of Public Architecture and Planning has been careful to find partners with the right mix of community intent and experience to make the venture viable." - Candice Woo

"This Saturday, March 11, I noted Bread & Salt in Barrio Logan will host Mexico in a Bottle from 3:30 to 7 p.m., billed as the largest mezcal tasting in the United States and featuring over 100 mezcals and agave spirits plus Mexican wines, craft beers, drinks from local bartenders, and bites from a range of restaurants; general admission tickets are $75." - Candice Woo
