"Opened in 2013 in Barrio Logan, I consider this building one of San Diego’s most dynamic hubs for arts and culture; Bread & Salt occupies a 40,000-square-foot space that houses a brewery, galleries, and workspaces for a number of artists and community groups, and the site—originally a commercial bread-making facility starting in 1891 and continuing for over a century—was always intended to include an eatery, which is why it will soon be home to the Pan y Sal food hall. Its developer, Jim Brown of Public Architecture and Planning has been careful to find partners with the right mix of community intent and experience to make the venture viable." - Candice Woo
