Chicago’s Best Chinese Restaurants

"Diners may be familiar with Sichuan cuisine but Da Mao Jia explores new territory, focusing on the street food of Chengdu. There’s an exciting selection of offal bites alongside regional dishes like spare ribs, Zhong dumplings, handmade sweet and spicy noodles, and diced rabbit. Just be ready for the bold and spicy flavors that pack a punch. Place orders for pickup and delivery online." - Ashok Selvam, Eater Staff

The 17 Best Dumplings In Chicago

"“Volcano broth” might sound like it would cause profuse sweating and an outburst similar to what happens on an episode of Hot Ones. But the delicious volcano broth with Cheng Du wontons at both of Da Mao Jia’s Lincoln Park and Bridgeport locations is actually quite mild. The tart soup comes with plenty of floating, meaty pork wontons and has just enough tingly Sichuan spice. While we’re here, we also like to order their Zhong dumplings. These are flatter with a medium chew, and come with a sweet and nutty chili soy sauce that nicely contrasts with the sour volcano broth. " - john ringor

Where To Eat In Bridgeport

"This small Chinese spot inside a strip mall is a great place to get your spice fix. Da Mao Jia specializes in food from Sichuan, so you can be sure that lots of dishes are packed with tingly spice courtesy of Sichuan peppercorns. Some of our favorites are tender braised ribs and barbecued pulled rabbit, plus small plates like the sweet and spicy handmade noodles and bell dumplings. And while the space gets crowded, it’s usually easy to get a table here. Everything comes out pretty fast, which means quick access to a spice-induced fugue state." - adrian kane, john ringor, nick allen

Where to Order Chinese, Korean, and Japanese Dumplings in Chicago

"Da Mao Jia, Bridgeport’s entrancing tribute to the street food of Chengdu, offers plenty of exciting regional options — including Zhong dumplings, gilded in red chili. Come prepared for big, spicy flavors. The restaurant, formerly known as A Place by DaMao, has expanded with locations in Uptown, Lincoln Park, and even Ann Arbor, Michigan." - Naomi Waxman, Ashok Selvam
