The Best Restaurants In Lakeview

"Can an empanada restaurant take over the world? Probably not, but 5411 is trying. What started as a food truck has expanded into multiple storefronts. But you can’t knock it, because the array of Argentinian baked empanadas are great, from a classic ham and cheese to a new-age banana and Nutella. They’re a decent size but only $3.29 a pop, so make sure to try a few." - sam faye, adrian kane, john ringor, veda kilaru

5411 Empanadas - Review - Lakeview - Chicago - The Infatuation

"This is a small counter-service operation with delicious baked empanadas. They have about 15 varieties daily, with flavors like beef, Nutella and banana, or bacon with date and goat cheese. They’re all really good, and the best strategy is to order as many as can fit on your table." - Adrian Kane

Argentine‑style baked empanadas—malbec beef, humita, and banana‑Nutella—make for ideal street eats. The truck continues to appear at city food truck Fridays and neighborhood events alongside its small network of shops.

The heavyset employee I couldn't tell if it was a male or female but it doesn't understand what genuine hospitality and service with a genuine smile means. The ambiance feels uncomfortable and scary. I believe it needs to talk to and listen to Jesus and stop being an arrogant hypocrite. These people seem wild and they try to be cool and/or macho.

Great Argentinian empanadas as the flavors and quality of the inside is very good. Very little crust to enjoy more filling but a very little empanada for $3.75 each plus you pay $0.75 for chimichurri sauce which is helpful to have to bring the flavor out. So if you want to eat to get satiated you need about 3-4 empanadas unless you just want a snack and you are already full. The crust is nicely done and a bit chewy and not flakey which I really like as it’s unique to others. Overall a great place with many choices of filling for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike. If they dropped the price of one empanada to $3 each I would totally feel even better but regardless it’s a great place to sit and eat to enjoy tasty food. Plus it’s easy to just order and away yourself … no waitress so you save money on tipping. Plus the bathroom is super clean and smells fresh. That’s a really great sign the owner and staff care about customers.

My entire experience was flawless from beginning to end! Parking was easy, right in front. And as soon as I went inside I was greeted with sooooo many empanada options on the wall! (Picture added) and coffee and espresso options so I was in heaven! I ordered and when the I got the empanadas I was stoked by how delicious they looked!! I was blown away! They were so delicious and fresh and sooooooooo flavorful! Officially the best empanadas I’ve ever had! I have been day dreaming of going back so gonna have to make that happen this week 🥰🥰 Another plus is the service! The guy that helped me was so nice and attentive! 10/10! The vibe of the place was so modern and welcoming! I just can’t wait to go back! Obsessed! ❤️

listen: on Tuesdays you can get their empanadas for 2 dollars. And they are absolutely worth full price. This is so nice it should be ilegal. It is the most bang for your buck of any food item that I have ever seen in 35 years. Get multiple of the bacon, dates and goat cheese flavor.

Stopped by 5411 Empanadas on Southport for a quick bite. Tried the Malbec Beef and Bacon, Date & Goat Cheese empanadas—both were flavorful, though I wish they were a bit larger for the price. The caramelized onion empanada was a standout—sweet and savory with a nice crunch. Service was friendly, and the spot had a laid-back vibe. A solid choice for a casual meal, but a bit on the pricier side.

Yo, 5411 Empanadas on Southport is straight fire. Rolled in with a buddy and we went to town on a bunch of their baked empanadas—each one just $4.75. The Malbec Beef was juicy with that red wine kick, and the Bacon, Dates & Goat Cheese? Sweet and savory perfection. We also tried the Mac & Cheese and Chicken Curry—both legit. Dropped about $30 total, and we were stuffed. The spot's got a chill vibe, friendly staff, and it's perfect for a quick bite or hanging out. If you're in Lakeview and craving something tasty, this place is a must.

Had the beef, bacon and date, and street corn empanadas. Bacon and date was unique and delicious, five stars, but unfortunately the street corn was offensively bland, with a strong herbal aftertaste for whatever reason.

I'd rather eat hot pockets. Empanadas are overly salty with poor quality fillings in my opinion. I can't believe people eat here. Ordered over 20 dollars worth of food and came in a tiny paper bag. Even the delivery guy was surprised at "how little" I ordered.
