"It’s Christmas all year long at Lala’s Little Nugget, an old-school dive bar in Crestview that’s been continuously dressed up for the holidays since the 1970s. There’s a countdown on the wall keeping track of how many days are left—with the bar growing increasingly busy as that number gets closer to zero—but even in triple-digit territory, it’s one of the most festive places in Austin. It’s gotten a little bit fancier over the years, but this is still one of the few places in town where you can get a Lone Star tallboy for $3 during Happy Hour. "It’s always Christmas time (as in it’s permanently decorated in festive Yuletide cheer) at this Crestview bar. Lala’s, which has been around since 1972, has lived many lives and was saved from an uncertain fate after an abrupt closure in 2015. Like any good dive bar, though, it has all the essentials. There are no-nonsense drinks, a great jukebox, pool tables, and a small outdoor patio, but the action happens mostly inside. Still, the time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s feels especially merry here. It’s a strip-mall dive bar in Brentwood, so don’t expect anything fancy—just a good holiday atmosphere, all the time.
