The 38 Best Restaurants in Seoul, South Korea | Eater

"Since 1976, refined yet welcoming Samwon Garden has been a cornerstone of Seoul’s barbecue scene. After a major renovation, the restaurant now features a stunning indoor space with tall ceilings and expansive glass windows, alongside a beautifully landscaped outdoor garden where you can enjoy coffee or ice cream after your meal. The highlight here is the signature marinated short ribs, expertly grilled over charcoal on a brass plate, imparting subtle smoke that pairs perfectly with the beloved sweet marinade. The restaurant prides itself on sourcing only the highest-quality cuts of premium Korean beef, while the skilled grill team provides impeccable service at tables. There are private rooms available for gatherings of any size. Know before you go: The weekday lunch set, served with bulgogi or soy-marinated crab, is a great deal." - Matty Kim

Sam Won Garden Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"Sam Won Garden is the oldest and largest Korean barbecue restaurant in South Korea, and their first US location is a three-story space on 32nd Street. It’s a big restaurant with a minimalist design, and it feels just a tiny bit more upscale than some of the other Korean barbecue places in the area, although it isn’t much more expensive. Come here when you’re with a group and just want to eat a lot of beef on 32nd Street." - Bryan Kim

I’ve always loved this place—it’s long been one of my favorite spots for Korean BBQ and beef dishes. They had been under renovation for so long that I almost forgot about it, especially since I rarely pass through this neighborhood. But the wait was worth it. The newly renovated space is excellent—clean, modern, and inviting, yet still carrying its signature touch with trees and waterfalls that make the atmosphere feel refreshing and unique. This time, I ordered the 갈비탕, which was rich, comforting, and deeply flavorful, along with their 보쌈김치—a must-have side dish here. The combination alone makes the visit worthwhile, and it reminded me why this place remains a favorite despite the long renovation break.

The Galbi is probably the best galbi I’ve tasted in my life. The flavour was really good. We also had the striploin and it had enough flavour that you didn’t really need to add anything to it… not even salt. Overall pretty restaurant with nice staff and food!

Sooo good! Came here as our final dinner in Seoul and it was delicious. Meat was very high quality and all the side dishes were amazing as well. We also got a soup to try which was also good but not the best I've had. Overall, we were all very happy with the meat and barbecue experience.

Premium delicious meats! The galbi was high quality, juicy and marinated perfectly. Probably some of the best meat I have had in my life. Side dishes were good and the menu items (naengmyeon and soups) complemented the meats well. The main focus is meat here so will not comment too much on the other menu items. Would definitely come back for the meats! Service was just above average here and this place seems to hosts a lot of weddings outside. Very busy and cafeteria-like vibes despite being listed as a Michelin guide restaurant. There are private rooms you can book here but we sat out in the open. Large open space concept. Recommend making reservations ahead of time. Outside there is a beautiful garden with a fountain.

I really enjoyed coming here for some lunch! It's a huge restaurant, and the garden outside is pretty. You can reserve some private rooms, if you are having a business meeting, or something important. The food was good, and the service was, too.

A gorgeous and spacious space that is very popular and crowded with locals and tourists alike. The meat quality is superb and the charcoal grill is expertly tended by the waiters who tend to up to four tables at once. Most locals seem to order a meat dish or two and supplement with the high quality stews and noodle dish but we went all in on the Hanwoo beef. The short rib, tenderloin and thin skirt are all excellent though I recommend skipping the sweet bulgogi. The bingsoo dessert is also a show stopper and worth ordering. Reservations are recommended unless you want a long wait and dining is all indoor on two levels. Credit cards accepted.

It's a bit pricy. Taste is OK, but not worth what you pay. The atmosphere, deco are excellent. You pay for those things.

Samwon Garden has been the premier beef grilling experience in Korea for over 3 decades. It is a classic high-class beef house that is known to all generations that have had the privilege of experiencing it as well as those that have just heard of it. And in its most recent facade, they are modern, completely renovated, yet keeps some of the same beef grilling ethos from traditions that have made them successful. At Samwon Garden, whether you are dining at a private room or out in the main hall, you're bound to get great service and experience. And of course, you must go for the hanwoo galbi. Everything else is complementary, whether they are raw crabs or pancakes. The centerpiece always is the meat. And yes, the meat is phenomenal. I do not think Samwon wants to ever jeopardize their reputation as the premier destination for hanwoo. And it shows. Whether it is to celebrate a special occasion, or take your parents out for dinner, or do a formal dinner with future in-laws, Samwon has you covered. Just make sure to reserve well ahead of time. It really is a treat to dine here. And they live up to that reputation well.
