10 Twin Cities Restaurants That Solve the Pre-Theater Dinner Dilemma

"Despite the gimmick, conveyer belt chain Sushi Train is a great spot to spot to grab dinner before a Minnesota Orchestra concert. With the usual maki and nigiri options as well as a few creative hits like the “Green Haven,” with serrano peppers and avocado, the food alone is worth a stop." - Justine Jones, Julie Zhou, Eater Staff

First Conveyer Belt Sushi Restaurant in the Twin Cities Opens Today | Eater Twin Cities

"It’s a Twin Cities first; conveyor belt sushi is now available in downtown Minneapolis at 1200 Nicollet Mall. Opening at 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, the new Sushi Train — started by partners including Kevin Ni, who comes from sales while his partners had restaurant careers — is modeled after a subway station with bright colors and a one-of-a-kind conveyor belt that runs through the restaurant and uses sensors and timers to keep food fresh so customers don’t have to order and wait. Plates run from $1.50 to $5.50 and diners are charged by how many plates they grab, though you can also order from a menu of classic rolls and poke bowls full of rice and tuna or salmon; Ni says the fish is fresh and all comes from Japan. Located on the corner of Nicollet and 12th Street, a block down from Brit’s Pub in an area with few sushi options, Sushi Train will begin with limited hours and plans a grand opening in a few weeks after working out the kinks — it’s meant to be a fun, unconventional experience." - Susan-Elizabeth Littlefield

Google
Truly great service, which sounds funny considering this is conveyor belt sushi. Our server was incredible, and was attentive, kind, and informative. The food here was pretty good, and the prices are on par with other similar restaurants I've been to before. The inside is straightforward as far as decor goes, but the star of the show is obviously the conveyor belt. There's easily labeled vegetarian, cooked, and gluten free options, and the menu has things like cooked appetizers and ramen if you want more than just sushi. I stopped here after a conference nearby, and this place seated me right away and was a perfect dinner.

Google
This place is great! The food tasted good and the service was decent. But the concept of how you order makes it so the sushi can be dry since some items sit for a while before someone grabs it. There’s a conveyer belt where they have it loaded with sushi on plates. They calculate your bill by how many plates you collected. Since each color of plate represents a price that’s how they add up the bill. You just grab it and they add it up. The problem is if something sits for a while because it’s slow you might be getting older sushi. Some of it tasted rather dry. They have decent pricing and it’s worth it for what it is. It’s not terribly different than how long sushi at a grocery store might sit around, but the quality and taste is better here over a grocery store. I recommend getting the eel and miso soup. The miso soup was probably my favorite thing here.

Google
The service was amazing, i loved my server and he was DASHING around serving an insane amount of tables. The sushi quality was pretty mid/low and the prices were kinda high when you consider the price only gets you 4 pieces. The dragonfruit cocktail was very tart in a good way, and strong 😉

Google
Our experience here was so positive. Our server was fun and kind. We tried new things and enjoyed the ice cream, too. Sushi Train offers low sodium soy sauce, thank you for this!

Google
I try to make a habit of coming here every time I visit home. First time here was a while ago for a date. Our waitress was Tanya and she's SUCH a delight! So much so that I ask for her section specifically if she's working when I'm in. The chicken katsu and the Inari is so delicious! Can't wait to come back 💙

Google
We walked in — N’Sync was blaring and the dudes were super friendly. Our kind of place. Great selection of sushi on the belt and a la carte orders. Thanks, Robert for a great time!

Google
Such variety and fun. Had a great time with my daughter eating here. We tried such a variety. Highly recommend

Google
Such a unique experience, ol' fashioned diner feeling with a fun rotating train of fresh sushi and other goodies that are constantly passing by..grab what you want and if its already been taken, just ask your host and they'll have it made fresh by their experts to have it rushed to you.. Love this place!! 💖

Yelp
This was my first sushi conveyor belt experience and it was a lot of fun! If you are going to eat a lot of sushi, this may not be the most economical, because those purple plates drive the price up pretty quick, but it is a great way to try a bunch of different sushi items, and also works well for sharing. In addition to the sushi train, there is also full menu of ramen, apps and poke bowls. We ordered some spring rolls and gyoza from the menu, and then went all in on the sushi train! Items are priced by plate, with the purple plates at $7.00 being the most expensive. The sushi was fairly good overall. The only item I had that I did not care for was the octopus role. Not the best sushi I have had in the TC, but not the worst either, and it is a fun experience. Our server was kind and attentive. We went at lunch on a weekday and there was absolutely no reservation needed.

Yelp
We've been coming to Sushi Train for maybe five or six years. In the last year the service has become terrible. One time in the winter we had a server demand we fire our real estate agent and hire him instead. Today we've been rudely told to stand in another area - the rest of the waiting area had only been vacated for 10 seconds. Today our waiter loudly demanded that we order something other than water. My dude, so sorry but *demanding* I do something optional is a great way to make sure I don't do it. After that he couldn't be bothered to take our order, refill water, or take the order for the drink. Water was warm. The food quality is okay. The food here has never been bad - but the quality has been higher in the past. There is one exception - the wasabi is terrible. It was so dried out I have to cut it in half to get something moist.

Yelp
Want to try revolving sushi? Want to dine without waiting ? Want surprised? Want attentive service ? Come try! Food 3/5 Some items 2/5 (crispy rice; rice was hard and not crispy; ) mackerel (dry and been out long) Service 4/5 Ambiance 4/5 For a quick lunch ? This is fine I do worry just a little about food safety and the temperature of the items... some might have been out long at room temp....

Yelp
sushi train is a fun conveyor about sushi restaurant on Nicolette Mall. It was very busy the evening I went. We were able to be seated at a table after waiting a few minutes. Different colored plates of sushi where rotating through the conveyor belt constantly. The price per plate is listed on the wall. The sushi was fresh and delicious. I wish the rice had been seasoned with a little bit more Marienne, but overall sushi quality was good. It was busy and lively and has a fun atmosphere. Seating is at tables for two or booths that can seat for so it might be hard to have larger groups, and sit together. The sushi chefs were constantly making sushi for the customers to eat. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you'd like a conveyor belt, sushi restaurant with an energetic vibe.

Yelp
This was first conveyor belt sushi place I've been to. The staff was amazing especially Keri my former coworker from ages ago. The sushi was good. Spicy tuna took awhile to get to us. My THC drink was fantastic. It was a flower night so not many people are around.

Yelp
Pros: close to the Minneapolis convention center so I was able to pop in for a quick lunch. The food was good and they seemed to refresh the food. Con: the server was rude, but everyone else I encountered was lovely so overall a great visit

Yelp
We were looking forward to a sushi train spot, after being without one locally since we moved South. We arrived early evening and were one of only two couples in the restaurant. Our server was wonderful and the concept fun but the food was simply not good. At previous sushi train restaurants we have been to, we have seen them frequently switch out sushi on the belt for fresh versions. We were there over an hour and never once saw them replace any of the plates, which was a bit off-putting. The sushi with fried items were cold and soft, sweet potatoes undercooked, and the ramen lacking any substance or flavor. The veggie tempura was good, however. Even if we lived nearby, we still wouldn't be back to this spot, even with the convenience and cool concept. The cost snuck up quickly but we appreciated that the cost was clear based on the color of plate. Some unique items and desserts on the belt as well.

Yelp
I decided to stop here very last minute as I looked up for sushi spots near the hotel I was staying at. I have gone to other revolving sushi spots but the plates will all be the same price while here that is not the case. The prices range from about $2.20 to as high as $6.95 the workers were super sweet and very helpful. I did like the layout of the place. It's super simple to use. Simply pick up what you want from the conveyor belt and keep the plate at your table. I'm giving it a four out of five stars because the sushi wasn't as good as I was hoping for. I could be a bit biased as I live in another state Where we can get really fresh sushi very easily. It also could be that Minnesota makes their sushi a bit different than from where I'm from. However I still would recommend the spot to check out even if you just need a small quick bite. You can spend a little to nothing to get yourself a little bit of fuel.

Yelp
Ordered delivery and for the price it's decent sushi. It's not the best sushi I've ever had, but it filled my craving for rice and fish. You get four or five coins per roll. My one true complaint was about the edamame - it was over cooked and mushy and wasn't seasoned (not even salt).

Yelp
Kari at Sushi Train Restaurant is very hospitable and kind. Makes you (as well as everyone else) feel like a VIP. The chiefs are always friendly and creative...always inventing new items. Friendly people pack this restaurant and it feels like a party is going on. Good camaraderie in the house! Good service A+ Good sushi- I have ordered off the menu and also randomly selected interesting sushi from the conveyor... both are great! Parking can be a challenge in downtown. Ten out of ten! Pepsi on ice tastes really good with smoking, hot wasabi! Get some.
google avatar

Shawn S.

Yelp
Sushi train is a nice spot to hit downtown and many others agree....they were very busy on a Tuesday lunch time slot. The sushi is good - maybe not quite as good as other sushi restaurants in town (just my opinion) but good marks for the endless options and the uniqueness of the experience. Service was fine and helped with non-sushi menu options. Full bar

Yelp
The Char Siu Ramen truly stole the show -- an absolute must-try! The sushi was fresh and delicious, and the service was excellent throughout. Highly recommend!

Yelp
VEGAN REVIEW came here for lunch during a conference at the convention center. had the veggie udon, the sushi "train" did not have many vegan options. udon was fine-- passable, but nothing special. it was very busy, the servers stayed cool as cucumbers. casual ambiance-- your typical quick work lunch

Yelp
I eat sushi a LOT, never gotten sick. I bit into a piece of tuna from sushi train, it was room temp, had a hard piece in it and was extremely tough: my fork couldn't even cut it. Was extremely sick the next day. Food poisoning.
google avatar

Yelp
Many unexpected items on the conveyor belt are served at this American-style Japanese sushi place, which is surprising to me.

Bebe Y.

Yelp
Yelp won't let me delete my negative review for some reason so this post is edited. I have been to sushi train many times before thanks my sushi loving roommate during college. You come here knowing what you're getting as the prices are stated. I even did my 27th and my little sister's 18th birthday here before. This is literally one of my favorite places to get tuna tataki whenever I'm in the cities. Again, I must repeat, you know what you are getting when you come here. The price will vary depending on what you grab but it is still a fun experience. I recently had an issue with my bill the other day where I was overcharged. I do believe it was an honest mistake from the restaurant and it was not something I discovered until I got home. Keri and Robert were both accommodating and willing to listen to my story and see my proof. They promptly fixed the issue for me so thank you for that.

Yelp
This is very low key but delicious. It's casual. There's a full service bar, you can sit at or a table. I enjoyed the music and the occasional blurt of singing from the staff. it's a Friday so there are a lot of couples. The sushi is fresh and I appreciated the variety.

Paul M.

Yelp
I just had a takeout of two spicy tuna and two spicy salmon rolls. They look like nothing. I've ever eaten before. They have unnatural colors in them flame red and not salmon orange.. The taste was very bland. And there was no discernible pieces of fish.

Yelp
Sushi Train was a fun place to go to get a quick sushi fix. While not for everyone, it is fun just sitting, enjoying and being able to select delectable sushi based on what's going around on the plates off the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt went around at a decent pace that they kept full continuously. I really liked that the sushi was not a huge amount of packed rice! There was a good amount of fish that was fresh and cut nicely to even out all the rolls. If you're game to trying new things then try the Crazy Cajun roll. That was really unique, delicious and packed with flavor! Yanni my server was really nice, attentive, smiling and talking with everyone. He made the lunch very enjoyable. Merci beaucoup Yanni! There was a great variety of sushi items both cold, hot, salad, tempura and sashimi to choose from. They had mini macarons as a desert item although I wish they would have had the sweet red bean paste fish shaped warm pastry "taiyaki". Friendly suggestion - this is something they can add as a menu item that people love to finish their meal out. Nice sushi experience, good price, no rushing and a pretty good and active crowd of people going in for lunch!
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
This was a pretty fun experience. I'm from out of town and we have a similar sushi conveyer belt restaurant but they're pretty slow and never really have enough sushi going around. There were lots of options here; I was definitely impressed and excited. The conveyer belt was just filled with sushi even though the restaurant was pretty full.I gravitate more towards salmon and there were lots of different salmon roll options available. The server I had was super friendly but I did notice him a bit cold after the bill was paid. Prices varies depending on the color of your plate. Can't complain about the quality of the fishes. They were fresh and a good size. The restaurant was clean and overall a nice environment.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
The area here starts to get a bit sketchy. Quite a few shirtless, drugged out folks loitering about. We were seated by the back room. Liz is waiting on us. Once wide of the menu is on the belt and the other side is order-able. We ordered a volcano roll, since they are out on the conveyer. Grabbed a Mexican roll with crab and shrimp on top, and spicy crab roll with fried shrimp. Ordered a California roll and added green onion and cream cheese. $80.49 It's a lively vibe inside, the conveyer continues to roll on past. I can't say much caught my eye from the conveyer though. The Mexican roll minus the shrimp tastes pretty good, the volcano roll is nice and crunchy and the special Cali roll made to order was good. Liz was super attentive and on it.

Yelp
DO NOT COME HERE!!! WORST restaurant experience of my life. Fun concept. How were the smells though? Red flag. How was the service? D at best. How was the temperature? Freezing. How does the food come? A conveyor belt. Did we still eat the sushi? Yes. And I felt QUEEZY! Do NOT come here!
google avatar

Yelp
Stumbled onto this sushi boat while attending the NODA conference in town. It's been a while since I ate at a sushi boat and Sushi Train did not disappoint. Sushi Train used conveyor belts to transport the sushi around the restaurant and you pay for what you eat. The tuna, yellowtail, and octopus nigiri were all very tasty. I ordered some calamari but it was just rings. Still, had good flavor. It was a mistake to get the calamari. Although good, it was a large serving for one person and I would've rather tasted more sushi plates. My server was excellent, she had a great attitude. I'll be in Minneapolis for a week so I'll definitely be back. One FYI, the peanut butter and jelly roll, was just PB&J. I thought there might be something unusual about it. It was still basic goodness.
google avatar

Phattharaporn S.

Yelp
Decent sushi place with a very long queue during conference time. The sushi was fresh. They didn't have premium parts like toro but it's still pretty doable. The ramen bowl is super large and made me full on it's own. The dishes came every like 9-10 minutes. My server forgot my order after 15 minutes she came back and asked me again so I ended up waiting 30 minute for a bowl of ramen.

Johnson N.

Yelp
First time stopping by and we caught more attitude than an angry Latina girlfriend. We assumed it was an all you can eat type deal, the waitress was impatient, condescending and flat out rude. We apologized for our mistake and she said and I QOUTE. " next time ask at the front desk so you don't waste my time." Not sure if she's also the owner but I would never go back.

Ryker

Yelp
This place is truly an amazing experience. With a family of four we had a blast choosing all the different options and things to give a shot. The food was clean and fresh and the train was stocked. Service was very good with a great waiter who cared about our experience. Environment felt like a restaurant in Japan and if your looking for a place to experience some fun and tasty sushi this is it

Tess S.

Yelp
My colleagues and I found ourselves at Sushi Train tonight, a new experience for all of us with the food just rolling by! The food was good, but let me tell you, the service was better!! Jerry was attentive and FUN - the perfect ending to an already wonderful day! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I've heard mixed reviews of Sushi Train but was pleasantly surprised when I came. A lot of the fun is watching the conveyor belt go around and seeing what plates are available. There's sashimi, nigiri, and different sushis and rolls available as well as salads (seaweed or kani), desserts (macarons and cake) and even Yakult (which I had to refrain because I can buy it elsewhere). They are color coded by price and a full list is available on the menu (plus you can order extra items on the menu that is not on the train, but we didn't stray from the train). The portions are smaller so it's perfect if you want to sample many things, or if you are new to sushi and want to try new rolls, but don't want a full roll. The costs do add up quick, so you should be strategic about what you actually want and what you don't, but overall, I had a fun time. I did enjoy the salmon sashimi, tuna tartare and the couple rolls I grabbed. It's a different sushi experience than most spots in MSP since it's (currently) the only sushi train spot, and the location is pretty close to all your downtown adventures. Since it's pretty much self-serve (you grab what you want from the train), you don't interact with staff as much on terms of ordering, but they do come around to fill your drinks and pick up your tops.
google avatar

Sherly C.

Yelp
First thing, 18% automatic gratuity is perfectly fine but charging that much for MINimum service at a self-serve sushi? No. Maybe because it was automatic tip, we waited so long for everything. We just wanted to leave but we couldn't even get our check, or anything close to the servers attention. The fish was a solid portion but it taste like frozen fish and defrosted. The baby octopus plate was so salty, tasted like salt was free :/ The ramen was good though, but I would recommend a regular sushi place. Sushi train's idea is good, new in Minnesota, but the quality is debatable.
google avatar

Tawanda R.

Yelp
No lie, I was skeptical... I've never dined in, but only to go a few times now. EVERYtime i go to pick up my food the place is paaacked! So I'm assuming they're doing well. Over the few times I've gone to pick up my food, they way that they handle pickup has changed. I usually go in, give my name, get my food and leave. Now they ask for identification, which is a weird process and made me feel awkward, so I've not visited since. When/If I do, it will be fore a dine-in. Food: Good. I usually order apps only, wings, fried potstickers and an occasional sushi roll. No complaints. Delish. Service: The host(est) at the door greet you upon entry and help you with your needs. I was just turned off by being asked for ID, but at least the girl at the counter explained that it was a new procedure and that it was to ensure the correct food was given to the correct person. I think ID verifying is a bit tacky, but I get it. When downtown, you do whatcha gotta do. I'll still dine in tho!

Yelp
As several of people have said on here in reviews, some of the rolls are hit or miss. But considering everything I read on here compared to everything I ate, it was pretty alright for what it was. It was definitely fun watching the conveyor belt go around the restaurant, something new and different to see. Also gives you the opportunity to try a bunch of different rolls because there's a variety on the belt. Sadly about 2 of 5 rolls I tried were either too fishy or just didn't hit right. I was able to send one plate back because the roll was admittedly too fishy but I choked the other one (spicy yellowtail roll) down. Just didn't want to be that guy not finishing two different rolls, the shame! LOL None of the rolls other than the ahi sashimi really stood out to me but then again, considering the variety you get to try, might be worth the visit! The price varies by plate color and you can also order warm appetizers off the menu. We ordered the gyoza and the chicken katsu, I've had better of both elsewhere. I had a nice glass of Sapporo which was refreshing. This place left me longing for the conveyor belt sushi restaurants in San Diego. If you're ever in SoCal, try any of the ones in the Clairmont Mesa area!
google avatar

Fabio A.

Yelp
Service was horrible. The manager was super rude to us. I have never experienced this in any restaurant.
google avatar

Lucy N.

Yelp
I'm a sushi fanatic so I've been hoping to have the opportunity to try a conveyer belt sushi place! We arrived and were told it would be a 30 min wait, so we sat at the bar for a drink. It seemed as though many 4-tops arrived and were seated, but they were waiting to seat us (2 top) for some reason. Staff was pretty rude overall, not welcoming, pretty short with the guests: bartender, host and "server". We finally were sat, and were given the run down of how it works. I did enjoy checking out all the food as it passed by, and it seemed pretty reasonable and on par with prices around town for sushi. Sushi rolls were ok - but I wouldn't come back for any of them. I didn't like the sashimi, it was below average. Our server was trying to be nice and upbeat but ended up yelling at another table which pretty much ruined our experience. 3.5 for a fun/different dinner experience 3 for food 2.5 for service A place to try once, but I won't be a regular here.
google avatar

Kendra P.

Yelp
First time ever doing conveyor belt sushi. What fun! I only do vegetarian sushi and there were lots of options for me. I feel like the prices were very reasonable for their sushi plates. Husband got ramen and he was so excited about it. It was very good and the bowl was pretty large. Our server was awesome. She was super friendly and engaging. Overall, wonderful lunch experience!
google avatar

Chris G.

Yelp
My recent visit was abysmal: - My counterpart was 'dress coded,' for MINOR midriff exposure - The table had a spill incident that was caused by Sushi Train, my group was handed a dirty rag with no apology or concern - Person who paid was chased down and insulted about the tip (which matched our experience, just saying!) An unpleasant experience from beginning to end. I recommend you not take a ride on the Sushi Train.
google avatar

Sharon S.

Yelp
Do you want a fun experience with conveyor sushi, then come here. Friendly staff will seat you, provide beverages, ginger, wasabi, and bring things that are not offered on the conveyor (see menu). My son and I had a lot of fun selecting our dishes. There was a good selection to choose from. The food was good. Fresh. (Wasn't the best sushi I've ever had, and it was good.) Everything we had was enjoyable. And it is so nice to be at a place like this especially given covid. Tip: they serve edamame cold. I'm used to it being hot. They would be happy to heat up if asked (microwave).

Yelp
It's good that you can find an all you can eat sushi joint in the downtown Minneapolis area. The place is on the ground floor of an apartment/office building, easily accessible from the main Nicollet Mall Road. The pattern of the conveyor belt takes many turns, it's unlike many other conveyor belt restaurants I have been to so there is no "perfect" place to sit. However, and unlike many other conveyor belt restaurants, the people preparing the food did a very good job in keeping the conveyor well stocked so you don't have to wait too long for the more desirable items such as tuna nigiri, salmon nigiri, yellowtail nigiri, etc. One pleasant surprise was that they also offered various sashimi combos between tuna, salmon and yellowtail. The quality of fish was decent, the rice was just ok. The servers were very helpful, always around when you needed something or a refill. Overall, a nice environment, the type of sushi is exactly what one can expect from a conveyor belt; not subpar but not excellent. Ok for a quick stop to get a fill, if you need to.

Rachel K.

Yelp
The food was very average. I have had conveyor belt sushi all around the world and this felt like factory sushi. Make, belt, sell, repeat. Nothing special. And to boot, our server was terrible. Every time I ordered something, it was not put in. Time after time after time. It was very full but the service was poor. I'd recommend Kura's over this place if conveyor belt sushi is what you are looking for.

Carmen J.

Yelp
My sister and I went there for a 'Sister day'. We had so much fun ! she was like a little kid again just eyeing all choices on the train. Then it happened we started grabbing our favorites . we both mostly like the cooked sushi we found quite a few that were cooked and they were delicious for you lovers of the raw. They had plenty of choices there too. it was afternoon so the service was great. The ambience was great You can also order off the menu there are drinks and soup dumplings...and green tea ice cream

Jack D.

Yelp
Place was very dirty. Customer service was great and the staff was friendly. The bar unfortunately was covered with inventory and supplies. Sushi was warm, which is never a good sign. There were also multiple altercations at the door between the Owner and drivers/homeless people. Not the restaurants fault, but not what I want to experience while dining.

Yelp
So. Much. Fun! Great food. Amazing service! Such a fun place for dinner. Tanya was our server tonight and she made the experience even better! What a gem! Loved the variety of roll options. Everything was delicious! We especially loved the Mexican Roll (super unique!) the double shrimp roll, and the tamago was DELICIOUS! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
A quick, easy and good spot near the MCC. The conveyor belt may turn some folks off but the sushi was fresh and well made. Highly recommend the udon - very good noodles and hit the spot on a cool breezy day. Friendly service.

Special shout out to Keri who made me feel like I was her best friend with her service! Great recommendations on which plates to try off the belt which was excellent! Will definitely return :)

Yelp
This has been on my list of places to try for the longest time and so happy we finally checked it out! Such a unique sushi experience, so worth the trip. As well as the sushi on the conveyor, they also offer cooked dishes and appetizers you can order from their menu and have delivered to the table. Went with a group of six on a Saturday afternoon and were immediately seated. We tried a ton of different sushi, some better in quality than others. It was fun to try new sushi without having to order a whole roll! They have appetizers and desserts on the conveyor belt as well, of course we had to try some macarons! The kids absolutely loved their Japanese sodas. They had a peanut butter and jelly roll that was a fun whimsical touch for the kids and plenty of other options that were perfect for them to try! Minus 1 star just because the server we had was very friendly, but could have been more attentive. One of our companions wanted to order from the menu and was waiting for quite a while for her to take our order. Other than that we had an amazing time and would definitely come back! Tip: Street parking is available all around the restaurant, making it just a quick two minute walk!

Yelp
I love the idea of conveyer belt sushi! Unfortunately, this one is more like an AYCE buffet quality but at made to order prices We had to wait for 30ish minutes for a table because they just didn't clean empty tables for that long. I guess they were understaffed so they kept coming by us, looking and going oh oh just a minute and then running away. Our server got sick or something in the middle and another woman said she was taking over but then our server came back just as suddenly and it was just bizarre. This is right by the Nicolette mall but I don't think it's attached in any way that I could tell. They had tons of rolls with tempura shrimp inside and just toppings on top which fine but each plate of 2-4 pieces is $6.50. Yikes. They did have few cheaper items like inari for $2.45 a plate but nothing was super fresh tasting so I was pretty bummed about the quality for the price and wait here. There weren't many people seated inside but quite a few takeout orders while we were there. And they left the seared items like scallops on the belt long enough to cool and leave condensation in the cover so I didn't try any of those types Overall, pretty mediocre for sushi. The conveyer belt concept is cool but the ones in Atlanta are more advanced like you might have a touchscreen ordering system with automatic conveyer delivery or you insert your plates into a machine and it not only counts your plates but triggers a video & ultimately a small prize comes out.

Yelp
This is in my regular rotation of go-to restaurants as it has affordable and decent sushi. The conveyer belt sushi concept might sometimes affect quality of it's a slow night and there isn't as much dish turnaround, but the ability to immediately start eating food is a huge plus especially if you're hungry and need to eat something as soon as possible. Also their salmon sashimi is so good, I really can't find better for the price. $5.05 for 3 thick pieces of fatty salmon is as good as it gets. Their rolls are overall decent, we tend to get eel avocado and salmon avocado but have tried a good amount of them. For appetizers/starter plates, we normally order the takoyaki as they have a wonderful crispy exterior. We also get edamame and baby octopus as non-sushi plates. Between 2 people we always average around $50-60 after tip, which I feel is a decent price for the amount of food you can get. Could definitely get it lower if you're being conservative, but definitely keep track of the plates as you go or else you might end up spending more than you want since it's easy to be tempted to grab plates off the conveyer belt (it is a fun activity). Parking can get busy, but can usually find a close spot within a block since it's right at the edge of the city. Also it's nice that there is free parking after 6pm on weekdays and free on weeknights. It can get busy on some nights though and they don't take reservations so be aware that you might have to wait on busier nights. There is a good amount of seating although the tables are best suited for parties of 4 or less. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an affordable and decent sushi place in the twin cities.

Yelp
I loved this conveyor belt sushi joint. It had great quality fish, unique selections, and it tasted great. Tonya was an excellent server, too! Definitely a great place to try when downtown.
