The Best Dishes Eater LA Editors Ate This Year, Mapped

"Hunger hit hard during a Saturday morning trek to Ikea. Swedish meatballs at 10 a.m. don’t sit particularly well with me, but the all-in-one burrito at Cafe de Olla certainly does. This Victory Boulevard restaurant opened in 2015 and even has a Monrovia outlet where specialties flourish, especially the traditional Mexican coffee cafe de olla. It’s particularly good served over ice while digging into saucy chilaquiles, omelets, and traditional breakfasts. The restaurant is so popular that there can sometimes be two-hour waits for a taste of the peanut butter-stuffed French toast, dry shredded beef platter combination, and sandwiches. For me, it’s all about the all-in-one burrito filled with three eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, avocado, hash browns, cheese, and salsa. I opted for bacon-only while taking in sips of my coffee from the comfort of my car. No wait, pure satisfaction. — Mona Holmes, editor" - Eater Staff

The 18 Best Restaurants In Burbank

"This tiny Mexican breakfast spot is relatively new compared to some of the classic restaurants in the area (at least in Burbank years, 2015 was practically yesterday). It gets slammed on weekends, so be prepared to wait a bit. But stick around and you’re in for glorious machaca, huevos divorciados, and multiple cups of their signature, cinnamon-infused cafe de olla coffee." - brant cox

Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week: March 11 | Eater LA

"Hunger hit during a Saturday morning trek to Ikea, and the all-in-one burrito at Cafe de Olla was exactly what I needed: this Victory Boulevard spot (with a Monrovia outlet) shines for traditional Mexican coffee, especially cafe de olla served over ice. The menu includes saucy chilaquiles, omelets with chilaquiles, and indulgences like peanut butter-stuffed French toast and a dry shredded beef platter that can draw two-hour waits, but I went for the all-in-one burrito filled with three eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, avocado, hash browns, cheese, and salsa—opting for bacon-only—and sipped my coffee from the comfort of my car with no wait and pure satisfaction." - Eater Staff

Cafe de Olla - Review - Burbank - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This dime-sized Mexican brunch spot on Victory Blvd. is a newer place around here (at least in Burbank years, 2015 was practically yesterday), but it’s quickly become very busy on weekends. A breakfast‑and‑beyond diner named for its cinnamon‑spiced coffee drink. Featured by Thrillist among LA’s best breakfast spots, it also turns out Mexican staples—huevos divorciados, chilaquiles, sopes—alongside pancakes and French toast.

Now I get why there was a wait.the food was amazing. You can tell they used fresh and quality ingredients.I ordered Del Antojo, it was so filling and delicious! The best tasting green chilaquiles I’ve ever had!

I must say, the experience was beyond amazing! The food was truly exceptional and left a lasting impression—every dish was a delight for the taste buds. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the coffee, which was perfection in every sip; it's a must-try for any coffee lover. The wait staff were incredibly friendly, adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. We were fortunate enough to join the wait list in advance, as I noticed that waiting times for walk-ins were around 1.5 hours. This is definitely a popular spot! If you're in the area, I highly recommend! You won't be disappointed!

Very honest opinion here, this place was definitely not worth the wait on a weekend. We waited 1 hour and 40 mins to be seated, and then another 40 after that to be served our food. We had high hopes based on reviews and things we’ve heard which is why we decided to stay despite the wait. 1st pic: chilaquiles en chipotle, these were the only amazing thing on the menu from everything we tried! Would definitely come back to get them for takeout again & really recommend them. Very unique & had a lot of flavor, 10/10. 2nd pic: Del antojo combination, eh. The salsa verde in the chilaquiles poblanos had no flavor, some of the most bland I’ve had. The mollete con chorizo was extremely salty, hard to eat. Not worth it if you know what really good chilaquiles verdes taste like. 5/10 3rd pic: pozole, it was okay, not great. We love pozole and were disappointed since the broth lacked flavor/seasoning, 6/10 4th pic: horchata, the color should tell you everything, didn’t even recognize it was horchata when it got served to us. The people next to us also left theirs untouched so opinions on this one might be similar. 0/10 5th pic: iced café de olla, this was just okay. 6/10

The chilaquiles flight was so yummy, and VERY generously served. The Entomatados was very spicy. Cade de Olla is always superb, and service was exceptional. There was a bit of a wait (went on Wednesday around 11), but it was less than 30 minutes and it gave us time to explore a few shops in the area.

If you’re looking for a spot that balances authentic Mexican cuisine with American favorites while keeping the flavors fresh and exciting, Café de Olla is it. Portions were generous without being overwhelming, and the prices were reasonable given the quality. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt right at home. We’ll be definitely be back! (The only thing is that the place gets packed so be prepared to wait sometime)

A little expensive, but i’m gonna be honest i KEEP COMING BACK!! it’s so worth it. such a cute little cafe, love the area it’s in. Amazing food, i usually got the berry french toast but last time we went i got the huevos rancheros. yummmmyyyy. i love that you can pop in, get a quick coffee and a sweet bread OR you can sit down and have a meal. my new favorite place to look forward to visiting Monrovia.

We visited this establishment on Mother's Day and, despite the busy atmosphere and nearly an hour-long wait, the experience was well worth it. Our party of eight was seated outdoors, where we received exceptional service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating to all our questions and special requests, frequently checking in and refilling our beverages. The food was phenomenal, both in flavor and presentation, exceeding our expectations for a holiday brunch. A standout was the café de olla, which evoked the comforting aroma and taste of traditional coffee made by our grandmother. This charming spot left a lasting impression, and we look forward to returning soon.

Food is amazing but the coffee even better. Cold or hot both are great.
