Cafe Pacific

You’re greeted warmly upon arrival but you can tell the place screams generational wealth. The patrons here are Dallas Proper folks. Meaning they may have been coming to the restaurant, ever since they opened back in the mid 80s. A lot of seniors and you can tell since they have salt and pepper shakers on their tables (usually a sign they cook their food with less seasoning). Our server was genuinely nice and attentive, but don’t be surprised if you’re one of the few younger or more diverse diners in the room. This is a restaurant for Highland Park regulars and if you’re looking for trendiness or bold flavors, this place isn’t it.

Loved our experience here for a Saturday date night. Started with some great champagne to start. Loved that our server was available when needed but also gave us space! Started with oysters (they were good but small). For dinner we had the lobster and truffle pasta, 12 oz filet mignon and a side of asparagus. The pasta was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of lobster and freshly shaved truffle on top. The filet was also really good and cooked to a perfect medium rare however I could’ve done with the sauce on the side. Asparagus was good but slightly under seasoned. For dessert we got the sticky toffee pudding and it was so good! Overall a great experience and can’t wait to come back!

Beautiful place, the staff were wonderful and prompt. The food was better than most places and not overly priced, although you can expect to spend at least $40 per person. Make sure to make a reservation and dress according to their rules.

We celebrated a friend's birthday here, and it was divine! I had the prime braised beef short ribs that was cooked to perfection.

We visited Cafe Pacific last night for my wife’s 40th birthday. She wanted the charm and ambiance of Highland Park Village during the holidays, and since I grew up in the Park Cities on Livingston, it felt familiar and fitting. We don’t go often—maybe once a year—and usually when we’re with people who seem to know management better than we do, like my mom and stepdad or a close family friend who lives on Livingston right behind the restaurant. It really does seem to matter who you know to receive the level of treatment I’ve become accustomed to there. This time, we were seated toward the back of the restaurant, and the service was mediocre at best. The food was good, but we weren’t served the sweet potato fries—their signature pre-dinner bite—and had to request them right before our entrées arrived. When they did come, they were stale, which added to the disappointment. The dinner stretched to just over two hours for three people and easily could have been 30 to 45 minutes shorter. Our waiter seemed distracted by larger tables ordering more wine, which took away from the feeling of a special evening. The ambiance, however, was wonderful, and our waiter was kind despite being inattentive. And as always, the highlight of the night was dessert—the pecan and chocolate ice cream ball—something I’ve remembered since childhood and still the standout of the experience. Overall, the food was good and the service was just okay. I’m not sure I would choose Cafe Pacific again for a celebratory occasion, even though the setting remains classic and memorable.

The food was so very delicious, it is definitely a spot that I will go back to. Both me and my wife loved it there. The atmosphere was very elegant and worth going with your loved ones or even by yourself. Leo was our server and he was super knowledgeable and professional. Tim, was maybe the supervisor but he made us feel home, he was very professional, welcoming and generous. We celebrated me getting a Job and Tim offered us a free dessert, thank you Tim.

I had the lunch Steakburger and it was excellent. My tea and water glasses never got below half full. I was with a group of 16 and the service was great. Very hard to find a Parking place but they have valet at the front door and they were great. Dessert was outstanding.

...Every last family occasion? Right here. We made a reservation via OpenTable. If running early, the bar has got you for some sweet potato sticks, cocktail, tea or cappuccino. The venue has been a mainstay in the HP area for a minute. It has its regulars. Fine dining that's the next level experience. Maître d' and servers are personable and warm. Venue is intimate. There's a movie theater and designer stores within the plaza- for a pre-post meal promenade/adventure. Valet available and works for tips. Enjoy!

Always good. Been going since college in the late 80s. The fish is always fresh. The lump crabcake cocktail is abundant and great w tartar sauce or cocktail sauce. Steaks are good but the fish even better. Waitstaff and hostess always top-notch. Great atmosphere. Feels like a NYC/SOHO restaurant (think Balthazar)

I took my king to a fine dining place we have not tried before: Café Pacific. It is small inside, so booking reservations was the right move for us. Upon entering, we were seated to the left in a more closed off, intimate area which was nice considering we were for a birthday dinner. The bread and butter came, and it was really good but perhaps not quite as good as other competitors (i.e. Ocean Prime). We ordered some drinks (Old Fashioned and Paper Plane), and both were very strong yet simple and tasty. Next was the appetizer: spinach and artichoke dip. As someone who is not the biggest artichoke fan, let me say that this was amazing!!! The artichokes were diced very well, which is normally an issue when eating this. Not this time, though! It is perfect for sharing. You may need more of the bread-like crisps that come with it though as the portion size is not small. I ordered the Asian Chilean sea bass, while he got the salmon. I did not try his salmon, but he did try my sea bass which we both agreed was nothing short of incredible! The fish itself was cooked perfectly, and the crispiness on the outside of it was absolutely divine. The soy sauce was not too salty, and the spinach soaked it up which elevated the whole dish. I also thought the jasmine rice was great and cooked perfectly. This is one of the higher-priced seafood dishes but for good reason! Also, the asparagus fritti, which was fried with grated parmesan, was wonderful with a great creamy garlic butter sauce of some sort! On the other hand, my boyfriend was not as impressed with his salmon dish. He said it was simply grilled and was tasty but could have used more flavor (perhaps a sauce or something to help elevate the smoked salmon flavor). I don't think he will order that again. I ordered another drink (Vesper), but unfortunately I did not like it at all. With a combination of gin, vodka, and wine, it tasted like Dawn dish soap. That is not an exaggeration. I didn't send it back because I don't like to do that, so I drank it and kept quiet. For dessert, they gave us their signature dessert with ice cream, nuts, house-made chocolate sauce, and some kind of caramel-almond crisp. It was different yet delicious! It reminded me a lot of fried ice cream which I haven't had in a very long time. Overall, I do feel that for a little over $200 for everything, the food was great but not quite $200 worthy (maybe more like $140). Would I come back? Well, there are a lot of fine-dining competitors where I know I'm going to get exactly what I want and will easily pay for it. Café Pacific just needs a bit more flavor with their food. I would return but not for a long time.

What other place can I say that we have patronized for over 30 years and never been disappointed. Try the sea bass with triple crust. Fabulous wine list. Bar is top notch for top notch folks. Don't be too surprised who you will see grabbing a drink in this small intimate bar of some 10 stools and only 2 bar tables. Reservations are recommended, but dress up some and drop into the bar. Asia salad is a favorite for a lite meal. Enjoy.

I came here for a birthday dinner. The staff was super friendly and was very attentive and answered all of our questions on their very large menu selection. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table. It was very tasty. For my entree, I ordered salmon that came with sautéed spinach and truffle fries. It was all very good and nice portion sizes. We also shared a dessert, which was the Pecan ball. It was basically ice cream, dipped in chocolate, rolled in pecans. Even though it was a simple dessert, it was tasty. My only complaint was that you could tell that this restaurant has been around for years, since 1980. The seating is very close together. It was very challenging to get in and out of our seats without hitting the seats behind us. Thankfully, everyone was very friendly and didn't seem to mind the tightness. They also offer complimentary valet parking and if you choose to self park, the parking lot is just a few yards away and there is decent parking, but it is in a shopping center with other businesses so I would definitely recommend taking advantage of the valet parking. This is definitely a nice restaurant to go to for a special occasion or if you want to treat yourself.

Helped a friend celebrate her birthday here. I arrived a bit late and the hostesses had a difficult time locating my party by name. Thankfully, the restaurant is small and I was able to find them. Our server Walter was very entertaining and helped to make the night memorable. I ordered a lemon drop and a redfish dish that didn't look like much but was really flavorful! Crab Louie salad was ordered for the table and it too didn't look like much but blessed my tastebuds! The staff were friendly, drinks strong and food delicious and I highly recommend giving them a try.

I don't think it's socially acceptable to write a short story or novel on this. Annalise was the best server I think I have had while dining out. Was referred to the restaurant by a client while here on business. The food was phenomenal. You need to get the pepper steak. The sauce, incredible. There isn't one negative thing about this restaurant. 10/10 would recommend.

First time dining here. Our server Vickie was awesome actually the entire staff we encountered were great , I love the small quant feel and the food was amazing.

This remains my favorite upscale seafood restaurant in DFW. Everything about this place is first class. Service, drinks and of course the food. We started off with the crab remoulade. Refreshing and full of taste. The trout almondine did not disappoint. Neither did the dover sole. The sea bass was to die for with a perfect crust and risotto. And lastly the NY strip was done to perfection. If you want dessert, the coconut cream pie is not a bad choice to share. The drink and wine selection are also tops. Never disappointed here and always leave with a smile on my face.

CAFE PACIFIC.. is one the best and most beautiful restaurants I have been at. From the location to smiling welcome staff to ambiance to delicious food, everything is perfect here. I have been there with my colleagues at Wine lunch, it was set menu and I enjoyed a lot. Every course of food was delicious, and it has raised the standards till end. Service was outstanding, ambiance was good. Kudos to all team, see you again.

This is an old school white tablecloth restaurant with valet parking, a canopy covered entrance, expert staff and of course a dress code - dress to impress! This is the kind of place you only see in movies. This is a 'fine dining experience' - no rushing about to turn the table in 30 minutes. People not familiar with this kind of experience may say the service is slow if you are not checked on every 5 minutes! (If you don't have a sophisticated palet, you will miss the best parts of each dish.) Extremely upscale and worth every penny! No advertising, you either know about or you don't. It really doesn't matter what you eat, everything is delicious and beautifully plated. Beyond perfect for any special occasion. Make reservations if you want to get a table. (You never know when it's going to be packed... lunch or dinner.) My Favorites: To describe each of these adequately, I would be writing an essay on each and go beyond the character limits for a review. I'll list them here, just trust me... they are each to die for awesome! - New England Clam Chowder - Caesar Salad - Maryland Style Crab Cake - Three Onion Crusted Seabass - Steaks are good too - And #1, Sterling Lamb Rib Chops!!!! This restaurant oozes ambiance and class, everything is spot on from the welcoming entrance to the knowledgeable staff, the obvious attention to detail and the history in the location. This was a by chance stop in and I'm just so happy I did. Had just such a wonderful time learning about the restaurant from bartender Don who was just phenomenal. Multitasking with everyone yet spot on with everything. He encouraged us to try the pecan ball and my goodness, it was definitely a shareable dish and just delicious! I'm not sure I could describe what it was other than delicious, so glad he recommended it. We all had the most delightful visit and are so eager to come back and try his recommendations!!

First I'll start with the time open shown on yelp- it's open all day except on Sunday where they are closed for a brief period between lunch and dinner so don't be fooled by the times listed here. The food and drink were very delicious and service was upscale excellent. We didn't have reservations but we're welcomed in regardless- must've been the smell of money as we just left Hermes next door with plenty of orange bags lol Anyway, it's a great highland park meet up so definitely give it a go.

A meal at Cafe Pacific never disappoints! My gazpacho and sea bass were delish. The service is always on point--attentive but never obtrusive--and dining in an elegant, timeless ambiance is always an added treat. Highly recommend!!

Quite a culinary experience! Ambiance was exceptional, classy and well put together. I had the Oysters Rockefeller, best I have ever had and the escargot for starters. Outstanding! I had the Scallops and they were outstanding. My wife had the Lump Crab salad which was great, followed by the Chilean Sea Bass, an extremely well prepared and tasty. Really awesome wine list which we had a bottle. Over all exceptional and would highly recommend.

We were in Dallas visiting family in the University Park area. We ate at Cafe Pacific. This place is so upscale! The restaurant is located in a really high end shopping center ... think Christain Louboutin, Valentino, Goyard, Alexander McQueen high end... Surprisingly the prices were not outrageous compared the neighboring designers. The waitstaff was very professional. The food was fabulous. People watching was an equally fun part of this experience. It was obvious who was local based on from their expensive attire, extremely big jewelry and overdone plastic surgery.

We had Walter as our waiter. I went for my uncles 80th birthday. The food was outstanding and the place was packed. I had the peppered steak and fries. I will def be back.

Visited Café Pacific on a Friday night and were seated right away (thanks to a reservation made a few weeks prior) by a delightful hostess. The restaurant was clean and cute, a steakhouse vibe mixed with a café if you're by the front windows, which we were. We ordered the Spinach & Artichoke Spalmare to start and it was delicious, as were the toast points that came with it, and ordered our entrées at the same time. That being said, I was surprised at how long it took to get our main dishes, even after our waiter confirmed we were done with the appetizer. My husband got the Australian Wagyu Ribeye which was good, but he could tell it wasn't brought to us straight off the stovetop, which is disappointing when you're paying $95 for that ribeye. I ordered the baked potato and Mac 'n Cheese, which were both quite good. All the potato fixings came on the side allowing me to control how much went on, big fan of that. I ordered the dark chocolate mousse for dessert which was honestly the best mousse I've had in ages and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his cappuccino. Overall, it was a great experience that took 3 hours start to finish. I appreciated our waiter not rushing us but a bit more attention/service would have gotten Café Pacific the 5th star.

I'll start by saying their service is 2 stars, however, their food is wonderful. For the price point they must do better with service. We waited 10+ min to be greeted and longer to get drink menus. This was my second time at Cafe Pacific and the service hasn't improved. The Chilean sea bass is fantastic and very filling. Their scallops are mouth watering good. I couldn't get enough of their signature pecan ball dessert. The wine by the glass selection could improve... disappointing for this caliber of restaurant.

Enjoyed an extraordinary dinner, with top notch service, in one of Dallas' finest establishments. The short ribs, a huge portion, melted in one's mouth. The king salmon was outstanding, cooked to perfection. Impressive wine list, and very knowledgeable waitress staff. Look forward to returning on my next visit to Highland Park Village.

This place is terrible. So the staff and the waiters are very nice and the servers. The problem is the food. There no Seasoning on the food I had to put salt and black pepper on it to make it taste ok overall if you ain't white don't come here.

This was a beautiful birthday dinner. The food and ambiance were spot on, and our server was amazing. To start we got cocktails. He got the Negroni & I got a perfect manhattan. My only guidance here is this will be a strictly wine spot for us. Cocktails were not great. The Negroni wasn't balanced like your traditional 1-1-1 template, and they shook my manhattan (please don't shake manhattans). Onto the food. The calamari is by far the BEST calamari we have ever had. It was sooooo perfectly crisp, flavorful and both dipping sauces it was served with were outstanding. Next, we shared the sea bass. We don't normally share but we weren't starving. The sea bass was delicious and the corn risotto was soooooo good. For dessert we ordered the cheesecake and it was also one of the best cheesecakes we've had. They also brought out a beautiful birthday dessert with this amazing pecan tuile on top. Highly recommend this place for its food.

This place is like a New York restaurant but with friendly staff and waiters, amazing food and in Highland Park Village-I eat there on every trip to Dallas-great shopping there also!

Cafe Pacific is a cornerstone restaurant. The waiters are the best around. The food is always good. Today they had a special on calamari. So fresh. If you like blue cheese stuffed olives, the best I have had. Too many fresh seafood and steak options to list. Reserve early!

Everything was just amazing! Celebrated my birthday and couldn't have been treated any better. Eddie was amazing! A definite place to enjoy a wonderful meal. Food was very tasty - shout out to Chef!

I came for lunch. This was my first time. It's a beautiful space. I had the trout. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce was sublime. I particularly like that they have half portions at lunch if you don't want to eat too much. Oh, my understanding is that it is usually full, so you'll want to make reservations. I went on a Monday just before noon and was able to get a table. I will definitely be back.

My recent encounter with the restaurant was of course exceptional, adhering faithfully to their reputation for their meticulously curated food and wine menu. A personal favorite of mine remains their array of fresh oysters, accompanies by an assortment of accoutrements. the selection of steaks and fresh fish is consistently gratifying. One my personal favorite items are the ones that feature risotto. I would recommend indulging in these choices or at the very least, complementing your meal with a side order of the chef's risotto. The dish unfailingly delicious and perfectly cooked. If you find yourself in search of an exception dining establishment with authentic character, a visit to Cafe Pacific should undoubtedly be on your agenda.

Be very aware of their dress code. The dress code is a small blurb on the middle of the website home page. Hostess didn't even apologize but said that I could go to the shops to buy clothes.

Close friends frequent Cafe Pacific on a regular basis so we gave it a try on a special occasion, a double birthday on March 2nd. First, the ambiance was nice with quite an extensive menu, definitely top tier as our friends would attest. And in fact the food selection across the 5 of us did not disappoint in terms of quality. Unfortunately the positive review stops right there. Without at least descent service the food quality really doesn't matter and hence a 2 star review. We had server Leo J, ticket #484451 who constantly dropped the ball. For one guest who was gluten intolerant, he had no clue what was on the menu to accommodate for this resulting in multiple trips back and forth to the kitchen to inquire. Finally after ordering, the soup came out but he completely forgot the ceasar salad. After asking, 15 minutes later it arrived. Throughout the near 2.5 hour dining experience (way long) we had to ask multiple times for another waiter to find our server. During all this we watched other tables being turned multiple times with exceptional service with visits by the chef himself. In the end no acknowledgement on the birthdays (though we weren't looking for any) and a thank you for spending our evening with CP. Ordered 2 deserts which of course were full charge. Leo really didn't even try to provide descent service. Very sub par and very surprised a product like this came out of Cafe Pacific. Our friends were floored by the takeaway. If you choose to dine at CP, odds are you'll get good service but for management to allow a sloppy server slip thru the cracks like this is beyond me.

Mac and cheese has a béchamel base, uses 2% butter fat according to the waiter. One experiment to try is a mornay sauce using Parmigiano-Reggiano with Gruyère browned on top, or Asiago. The Risotto was made very well. Each grain was firm on the outside so they weren't mushed together and when you bite down its very soft on the inside. Their was a delicate balance of nutty with slight saltiness then ends with a bit of sweetness. The carrots outer layer was firm with it soft throughout. They used sesame oil, which added a slight contrast to the sweetness of the carrots without overpowering them. The Chilean Sea Bass was very well made it was light with firm flesh and the meat fibers could easily be separated without the meat breaking. Service was really great.

Went the Sunday after Father's Day with the fam for a belated Father's Day brunch. Was amazing in every way. Thank you Café Pacific!

We just left this beautiful little old fashioned delicious restaurant.. the staff are so charming and attentive. The food so fresh... we indulged tonight with the gf chocolate torte with raspberry coile... we ate every bite! Complimentary valet parking...

Ok overall very classy old school place.I have been coming here for 40 years.Tonight it was an epic fail! Even though Peter & Walter did their best the steak entree was hideous.Walter & Peter prolly recognized it and took it off the bill but when your spending $500 plus dollars doesn't do much. Reality they could not cook it the way I wanted .Earlier they couldn't acknowledge several issues like table /searing/etc .Reality is this is an amazing place but they totally blew this night !

What an incredible experience we had this past weekend here. From service, to drinks, to dessert...everything was delicious! Not to mention the location, Highland Park. We shared the wagyu steak benedict, salmon with creamed corn and the coconut cream pie. We sat at the bar and had so much fun chatting with Amanda and some other guests. Amanda knows how to make some pretty amazing drinks. We look forward to coming back soon!

This place is a Highland Park mainstay. The food is always good and the staff is absolutely wonderful. Johnathan the bartender is a craftsman and makes the best martini in Dallas and Ruben is one of the friendliest and funniest servers you will ever find. If you are looking for a place for a special occasion, they will treat you like royalty, or if you are just craving amazing steaks, seafood, and fresh food in a low key but elegant atmosphere, this is your place. Go check them out, and tell them I said hello!

What a night! After arriving early at 545pm, we were seated with "abbreviated" menus, a kind and attentive waitress and water. After much deliberation, we picked out our choice - a Rosewood waygu steak. No problem. After a few minutes, the waitress came by and told us that the waygu steaks were sold out earlier in the day. It's normal to sell out of waygu steaks at noon, right? No problem. So we pivoted our order and resumed our meal. Suddenly, the most amazingly piercing alarm went off for at least 10 minutes - to no fault of their own. While the manager did come by and apologize for Celine's issue, no creative attempts were made to assuage the pain (hot toddies outside anyone?) No problem. Next, after the main course was brought out, a waiter came to the table and asked, "have you heard about your waitress?" To which I replied "no." He then informed us that she had been sick for over an hour and had fought bravely as long as she could, but simply could not stay any longer. Which might be the most ridiculous thing I've heard - even before covid! Oh welll... we were either infected or not by then. So... no problem. We're inquired about a dessert menu and the replacement waiter brought one. By now, it's 7pm. I said that we would like the cheesecake. He frowned and said that he thought they were out of it. I asked him to check and, sure enough, as the first dessert order of the night, they were sold out of cheesecake. No problem. I asked for the check and had a bill for shared plates, a totally sick waitress, items unavailable on an "abbreviated" menu, a 10 minute fire alarm of over $250 for two people (fyi, no bottle of wine). My recommendation: don't come here on a budget, don't come here if you're hungry and don't come here if you're healthy. In fact, don't come here. This restaurant is beyond tired. The good news: I had oreo thins in the car. No problem.

Everything from the service to the food to the outdoor seating was amazing. This is one of our favorite places in Dallas!

Food was delicious and fresh. Our server, Vickie, was prompt, polite and efficient. Nice outdoor patio was the perfect location for dinner.

One of my favorites. Old school classic linen table cloths and well dressed wait staff . No TVs it's great to unwind at the bar without that tv noise . food is excellent as well as the great service Dieter is the manager first class dude .

Has not changed since I went here in the 80's/90's. I use to come here when Sanger Harris has a location in Highland Park so that tells you a little bit about my history with this location. It's a fine dining experience for sure but I feel the freshness of their seafood has declined over the years. I use to order their crab salad on avocado and it was unbelievable. They also offer a crab appetizer so I would always order one or the other. The crab salad was what I ordered last visit and it tasted like the inside of the refrigerator, not fresh and I could not eat it all. Shocking, right for the price and all. Today I had the butternut squash soup and wedge salad. The soup was tasty and the wedge salad again tasted like the refrigerator so not as fresh as could be. Oh and their bread sour dough is just that doughy, yuk! They use to serve They use to serve this crispy bread selection so don't get excited when you see the bread bowl arrive. In any way, give them a try!

Lunch special: Thai chicken salad and fish 3/5 very large portion. Fish was good. Salad was just ok. Burger and fries: Excellent, thick burger patty cooked to perfection! Fries were outstanding. Pecan Ball for dessert was beautifully presented and was very good! Would rerun for the burger and dessert! Gave 3 stars because our waiter took forever. Waited for condiments. Waited for refills, waited for lunch and then dessert order. Waited for our check and then for him to come get my card.

The food was made with extra love! Very delicious. Fresh, made the exact way you request it and overall amazing flavor and taste. The service was impeccable! I highly recommend this charming restaurant to anyone!

Out of this world clam chowder and pecan dessert. The scallops were wonderful but overshadowed by the appetizer and dessert!

Our server was great. The food was great. We were taken to the smaller room to be seated. We had a table for 2. Right next to us they set up a table for 12 that completely dominated the room and our server. Fortunately, we were able to order prior to the party of 12 arriving. The restaurant needed to seat a party next to the large party or 12. We drew the short straw. Had we been seated in the main dining room area, there's a good chance the dining experience would have received 5 stars.
