Jolene Colebrooke Row - Review - Islington - London - The Infatuation

"Jolene isn’t exactly an empire. But its homespun ceramics, bountiful pastries, and increasingly ridiculous merch (a sauna hat, anyone?) is now to be found across multiple locations in north east London. Thismini-bakery, opposite Islington Green and a convenient two-minute stroll from Angel station, is a useful pit stop for a flat white and bulging cinnamon roll on a Friday morning. It’s all terracotta tones with a country-ish attitude inside and, although there’s space to stand, sip, and tear apart a pain au chocolat or a sandwich, don’t bet on it. Any location of Jolene, big or small, is a popular place to be." - Jake Missing

The Best Dishes in London Restaurants | Eater London

"A deceptively simple festive sandwich that rethinks the genre: chewy, well-made bread encases smoked chicken, zippy red cabbage and a sage-and-onion stuffing blended into mayonnaise, yielding a restrained yet unmistakably Christmas flavour profile that rewards repeat visits." - Hester van Hensbergen

Where to Eat in Angel, Islington and Holloway Road - Eater London

"The decision to open a bakery and chocolatier practically equidistant between a celebrated bakery (Popham’s) and a celebrated chocolatier (Paul A Young) is one that bespeaks a certain confidence on the part of the overlords behind the extended Primeur / Westerns / Jolene / Big Jo universe. But as pastry chefs know all too well, the proof is in the pudding, and there is little to suggest this second in a planned series of satellite bakeries represents any sort of over-extension. Sandwiches are petite but massy affairs, more in the 40 Maltby Street mould than the stunt sandwich school of the late twenty-teens; bakes are a greatest hits of recent London favourites (cinnamon scrolls, ‘Basque’ cheesecake, babka) with some notable savoury options (sausage rolls, cauliflower cheese puffs) thrown into the mix. Chocolates are tiny, delightful, and currently only available as a mixed box of six: a perfect gift for chocoholics and Instagram aesthetes alike." - George Reynolds

Jolene on Colebrooke Row is an absolute gem for anyone who loves authentic, no-fuss cafés. The vibes are effortlessly cool and cozy, making it the perfect spot to slow down and savor the moment. Their sourdough bread is a star: fresh and hearty, I absolutely adore seeing bakeries that do sourdough. Pair it with one of their home-baked treats, and you’re in for a treat. The coffee is fantastic, clearly crafted with care, and the laid-back atmosphere ties it all together. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in London!

Self serve, can get a bit squashed in there if busy. Sausage rolls good. Didn't try coffee

The pastries were absolutely incredible and the coffee was perfect to match. This is a great spot to grab and head to the canal for a walk or enjoy islington in the late morning or early afternoon. It’s crowded but the staff is great and maintains an organized but welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be back to try more of their croissants. Highly recommend the pecan croissant.

Google
Really unjustifiable high prices. I get why pastries are expensive, there's lots of labour to produce them and can include a lot of premium ingredients. However, the cheese scone was circa a fiver which is crazy. Yes it tasted nice but it was nothing amazing and scones can be knocked up very easily, quickly and with low skill. Every time I've been in the service has always been extremely "too cool for school" and rude.

Extremely disappointing experience — the worst service we’ve had in London. Visited this café today, 2 January 2026, with three friends. From the moment we walked in, the attitude of the two staff members was shockingly poor. They were speaking quietly among themselves, laughing loudly, and looking at us in a way that felt uncomfortable and disrespectful. Their body language and attitude were extremely unwelcoming, with complete poker faces when dealing with us. The service was so unpleasant that it completely ruined what was meant to be a nice outing with friends. No matter how good the coffee or environment might be, service like this is simply unacceptable. This was by far the worst customer service experience I’ve had in London. Very disappointing!
