THE best almond croissant in all of Paris! Freshly made and still warm, the edge of the pastry had a crispness to it from the fresh butter and sugar … incredible! We stumbled on the charming little street of Rue du Nil and were astounded at the concentration of exceptional food shops focused on sustainable, authentic, locally sourced peasant farming … A handmade chocolate shop, fresh seafood shop, a fresh produce market, frommage and charcuterie shops … and this boulangerie … we had a delicious cappuccino at the quaint little cafe a few doors down … sipping our cappuccino and nibbling on our delicious almond pastry we discovered the street is also home to renowned Michelin restaurant Frenchie, and L’Altro, a few doors down. We returned the next day for an amazing dinner at L’Altro to discover a fun and festive Holiday street faire going on. Each shop even has its own shopping bags for purchase, denoting unique logos to represent the specialty of each shop. I purchased many for Christmas gifts. Our only disappointment was the almond pastry is not made every day … we returned the next two mornings to find it was not available. Alas, I did enjoy another one of their delicious baked goods but the truly incredible flavors of that almond pastry are imbedded in my mind. I know, when I return to Paris, someday, I WILL return, in hopes of tasting another one of their almond pastries. THE BEST in Paris … genuinely.
