Carruth Cellars Swapping Little Italy for Liberty Station | Eater San Diego

"At Liberty Station, I learned the new 10,000-square-foot Wine Garden will welcome club members first, who’ll score daily complimentary tastings; the space, located near Stone Brewing and Con Pane, will span two large patios and an indoor area that houses a cheese counter and a market stocking gourmet specialty goods from olive oil to cured meats. I saw that it will serve an expanded food menu — including paninis, salads, and build-your-own cheese and charcuterie boards — to pair with Carruth’s wines (produced in San Diego with grapes grown in Northern California), available by the glass, flight, or bottle, and that live music will also be featured." - Candice Woo

San Diego Winery Carruth Cellars Expands to Liberty Station and Oceanside | Eater San Diego

"I learned that Carruth will open a 10,000-square-foot tasting room and restaurant in Liberty Station’s Arts District near Con Pane and Stone Brewing: the space, a former art gallery, will offer a menu of cheese boards, paninis, and salads to pair with its wines, and the project is expected to be completed in spring 2022." - Candice Woo

this place has became one of my favorite spots for music drinks and ambiance. they have a large outdoor courtyard that please live music every Tuesday and sunday. they also have weekly specials. they have a great selection of wines as well as cheese and charcuterie boards that you can pair with them. the service is super nice and friendly. the vibe is inntimate, yet wveryone is very friendly and welcoming. I've honestly fall in love with this place so much that I've officially remember! a lot of perks of membership, and given how frequently we were going here and made sense to join! although you don't need to be a member. this is a great place for a date, hang with friends or coworkers or simply enjoy some nice wine and music. also a great dog friendly place where dogs can socialize as well.

The food, amazing as always. I recommend the pesto turkey panini, a long time favorite. For Wines, unicorn and the port. I also like that they have a few beers on tap for other pallets. The ambiance, vibe and venue itself are great. Don’t mind the airplanes, it adds to the San Diego metropolitan city thing. With this review really is about, is the service. We had a bachelorette party here Thursday and everything was amazing. Truly. Bernadette was on point for everything, always making sure our glasses were refilled, and helping with the flow of the event. Her and her teammates behind the bar Were so gracious and helpful and nice throughout the entire time. It made the experience so enjoyable. Thank you for the highest level of customer service, and care that you gave to our guests and our occasion. It’s unfortunate we had to move a couple of hours away from our favorite winery, but we will always stop by for a bottle and a friendly smile. Thank you again for everything! PS if the owners read this give your staff a raise, or a bonus day off. THEY EARNED IT.

RIP Carruth. Was there today to see they’re making the large back patio exclusively 21+ starting November 1st. Overheard an explanation by the staff that it was due to poor behavior by some kids. Families will now be relegated to the small front seating. While I can’t speak for the business details of the company, this seems a literally example of “throwing the baby out with the bath water”, instead of enacting/enforcing a policy on parents making sure their kids are well behaved, like at any other establishment. Just in the hour I was there today, saw a family have the same conversation with staff, and elect to leave without drinking/dining. Haven’t cancelled my membership yet, as I hope they reverse the decision soon, but otherwise it is so easy to go to another location at liberty station, that I won’t be going back.

Good place to have quick bites and savory wines! Since tables are outdoors you feel safe. On weekends they'll have a band, sometimes with music that invites to people to start dancing. The food is good and savory. I've tried the turkey pesto panini, light and the pesto is delicious; th arugula beet salas for those who like a sweet taste, caramelized pecan nuts enhance the combination with the arugula, beets and goat cheese. The charcutery has a great selection of cheese. It's really good. Service is excellent and fast. Will keep coming to this place and I recommend it.

On a visit to San Diego we visited the Wine Garden of Carruth Cellars. It was a cool and cloudy day so we sat indoors looking out at the garden. We had a delightful lunch - sharing both the Farmhouse Chopped Salad with a flight of Crostini. Each slide of Baguette had different toppings that were delicious. The salad was delicious - with a plenty of flavorful ingredients (Romaine, Radicchio, Salami, Cherry Tomatoes, Red Onion topped with a house made vinaigrette. The five Crostini had unique flavors that was a tasting adventure. We enjoyed them all but I preferred the Marinated Feta Date with Pecan and honey and the Fig with Gouda cheese and Thyme. My wife's favorite was the more savory Hummus Tapenade with Feta and the Herb Chèvre with Sweet Peppers. The ambiance was casual but classy and the service was friendly and attentive.

I used to love it here I still really enjoy it. But recently the wine has been tasting really heavy and thick. Not in a good way either. It does not taste right and the past few times I had the wine, it did not sit well and I felt sick. I only had a few sips. Not sure what changed or if anything changed, but the wine has been tasting odd....

Yelp
Accordingly to google the name of this place is actually Carruth Cellars Urban Winegarden & Cheese Shop. It's located in Liberty Station and is very cute. It's order at the counter style so you're given your wine + an order number up front and your food items are brought out to you once ready. There is seating both inside and outside with plenty of space for small and big groups. Although it was a grey day when we went, we sat outside on some very comfy patio furniture. We ordered a few glasses of wine (they also have tasting flights) and 2 cheese boards, which were way better and bigger than expected. The wine was pretty good too. Great place to hang out with friends or family, especially because you'll actually be able to chat outside since it's not too loud.
