Best To-Go Takeout Windows in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Located in the same complex as Il Giallo, this food stand in the parking lot of the Parkside Shopping Center is owned by Udi Hershkovitz, the restaurateur behind Fuego Mundo and former Ponce City Market restaurant stall Marrakesh. Look for laffa stuffed with chicken schnitzel, cauliflower, or falafel to lamb gyros, sabich pitas, and shawarma plates at this street food stand Hershkovitz styled after those he grew up around in Tel Aviv." - Beth McKibben

A bright yellow shipping‑container kiosk serving Israeli street foods—falafel, sabich, shawarma—with laffa and house salads. Covered by WABE and local food writers, it’s quick, affordable, and authentically personal from a longtime Sandy Springs restaurateur.

I recently had the pleasure of eating at SabaRaba's and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. Located in a parking lot, this hidden gem offers some of the best fries and shawarma I have ever tasted. Not only were the portions very filling, but the flavors were absolutely delicious. What stood out to me was the excellent customer service provided by the staff. They went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was a pleasant one, even taking the time to wipe down wet tables. This attention to detail really made a difference and showed that the staff at SabaRaba's truly care about their customers. I have no doubt that I will be returning to SabaRaba's in the future to satisfy my craving for their amazing food. Highly recommended!

Hummus and gyro were good, salad was soggy and not fresh. For the price, the salad shouldn't taste like it was made 2 days ago. Outdoor seating area was cute and comfortable

Google
Good ingredients but dull and bland final product. It’s a missed opportunity as it has potential to be good. Laffa bread tasted more like pita than laffa. Outdoor-only seating worked well on a beautiful fall day (restaurant is in a shipping container not brick and mortar) Staff is nice

Google
Stopped by here because the kiosk caught my eye, and wow what an amazing sandwich!! I only tried the sabich pita ($9), but it was fantastic. The pita bread was so fluffy and soft, and all of the ingredients with the delicious sauce worked well together. Loved the eggplant and all the pickles. Good hefty sandwich, and reasonable for the price. The store is located in the middle of a large shopping complex in a re-purposed bright yellow shipping container. Food came out quickly, and there's a nice grass patio area with tables you can enjoy. I will definitely be stopping by again when in the area!!

This is my new favorite spot for gyros and falafel. Haven’t tried the shawarma yet but it’s on the list. The gyro meat is perfectly seasoned and crispy, the falafel is always hot and fresh and so garlicky. I prefer to get the gyro on the Laffa bread instead of the flatbread as it falls apart less and I enjoy the chewy soft Laffa bread more but you honestly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here. The hummus and Israeli salad are also well seasoned and fresh. The ladies who work here are very friendly and the food always comes out quickly and is hot and prepared to order.

If you’re looking for a place that feels like a warm hug after a long day, this is it. No frills, no fuss—just real, honest food that hits the spot and a team that treats you like you’ve been coming there for years. The atmosphere is simple and inviting, the kind of place where you can kick back, relax, and just enjoy a good meal. The kitchen smells alone had us smiling before the food even hit the table. We tried a bit of everything, and not one dish disappointed. It’s the kind of food that tastes just like grandma used to make—if grandma had a secret stash of magical seasonings and perfect timing. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and made with care. Places like this are rare. It’s not just about the food (though that’s reason enough to come back), it’s the feeling of being cared for. Definitely our new go-to spot when we want something hearty, delicious, and made with love.

Google
The falafel is just meh… the wrap should have more sauce & topping options. The fries although good shouldn’t be $5 for the amount you get. I requested ketchup for my fries & the young woman said she put it in the bag. I get back to work & guess what’s NOT in the bag, KETCHUP Just some feedback: you all need to visit places that have amazing falafel & tweek yours. It’s not the worst it’s just not the best. A lot of time people offer things that they don’t actually eat & it shows If you want AMAZING falafel try Jerusalem bakery, they have no affiliation with my review btw.

Google
I had a wonderful experience dining at Sabaraba’s in Sandy Springs. The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared – each dish was well-balanced and delicious. The service was friendly, professional, and quick, making the entire meal even more enjoyable. What stood out most was the attention to detail – from the presentation of the dishes to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. You can really tell that the staff cares about the customer experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality food and great service!

Yelp
Hands down the best falafel in Atlanta. Probably the southeast. Fresh ingredients. Friendly service. Good prices. Unique environment. Simple menu done well. I am so glad I stopped and gave it a chance. I will be coming back. And bringing friends!

Yelp
I had a falafel sandwich. It was gross. I would swear, swear that if that was truly tahini, it was made with mayonnaise. It was gross and tasted terrible. It was the worst tahini I've ever had. Also not sure what kind of oil they use for frying, but it sure gave the falafel a funky taste. If you're a true Middle Eastern food aficionado, then this place is not for you. I've tried this place two or three times. Never going back......

Yelp
I visited the Sandy Springs location yesterday and ordered the falafel laffa. For a food truck, it took way longer than I thought it should have taken (I waited at least 15 minutes, maybe longer.) When I picked up the order, I had to return to ask to have it cut in half, as it is large and unwieldy to eat any other way. The falafel pieces were mushy. The falafels need to be crunchy on the outside. These were definitely not. The salad and pickles added no texture, or zing, they were just as tired and blah as the rest of it. The sauce was flavorless. It could have benefited from some sort of a hot sauce, maybe offered on the side. Disappointing.

Yelp
As a Falafel addict I often look for it at every place I visit. And boy, good falafel is hard to find, even decent ones are in short supply. So imagine how happy I was to find one that matches the taste of falafel back home. The falafel is freshly made upon order, the Israeli salad was fantastic, the hummus and tahini were spot on! Definitely recommend it to those craving a good falafel! The girls at the truck were nice. The service was fast and efficient. All in all an excellent experience.

Melanie Z.

Yelp
I had the best falafel of my life yesterday at the bright yellow food truck in Sandy Springs. The hummus was also amazing. I can't wait to bring my family there to enjoy!!!!

Robin F.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS AND AUTHENTIC! I highly recommend the falafel, Israeli salad and chicken schnitzel! All full of flavor And very yummy!

Yelp
I am embarrassed for the cities of Atlanta Sandy Springs and Chamblee that this food takes up space in these municipalities and masquerades under the name of Middle Eastern. Maybe we could call it Middle Earth food if denizens of that realm had no access to quality ingredients including seasonings. Ordered a Chicken Shawarma plate which is usually a safe choice. Comparing it to the same menu item at any number of Middle Eastern restaurants it falls short. In my mind I am thinking of Middle Eastern Bakery, Ameers, and Mediterranean Grill.... You might know others...and they would all come out well in this comparison. Tasting the chicken, salad, bread, humus, tzatziki and tahini sauces, They were all shockingly inferior. To be fair the chicken was ok but maybe just in comparison to everything else. I felt like I was at a corporate chain restaurant and they were dumbing down the deliciousness that imbues food from Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Palestine, Egypt and Turkey. It was convenient for me but after one taste I would drive another 8 miles in brutal Atlanta traffic for something (anything?) better. After eating the same thing my wife commented "I've never had tzatziki so bad I'd rather not have it at all". And she loves almost all versions of that yogurt cucumber sauce.

Sarah A.

Yelp
Just ate at the new SabaRaba's in Chamblee that opened today. The food was outstanding! And the service was great too! Definitely will return!

Yelp
Let's put it like this: I'm part Greek AND Jewish and have lived in a lot of major cities where getting very good, very legit and fairly-priced gyros/shawarma is part of the landscape. And let's put it like this: I went to Sabaraba's with my Israeli pal that I often go out to eat gyros/shawarma. So, now that I've established my unquestionable qualifications, lol, I can confidently say Sabaraba's is indeed very good, VERY legit and fairly priced. I can also say that I've NEVER been somewhere that does BOTH gyros and shawarma...usually, it depends on the restaurateur's ethnicity, because although these are similar dishes, there are also some crucial differences. However, Sabaraba's definitely knows what those differences are, so, regardless of how you lean on the gyros/shawarma scale, you'll be quite satisfied.

Yelp
Mediterranean craving satisfied. My partner and I ordered a gyro plate, falafel plate, seasoned fries, and baba ganoush - TASTE: 4/5 - highlights were the lamb & beef mix in the gyro, falafel, and seasoned fries; truly could not stop eating the fries. Loved the sides of tzatziki, harissa mayo, and harissa ketchup. The Israeli salad and baba ganoush were alright TEXTURE: 4/5 - the fries and falafel were fried really nicely, and the hummus was thick and smooth PRICE: 5/5 - our total came out to $37, which was amazing SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - pleasantly surprised that the falafel plate came w 8 pieces of falafel! We took home about half of the food SERVICE: 4/5 - we were the second party there when we arrived at 6pm on a Monday. Placed our order and got our food only 10min later ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - bright shipping container/kiosk w 8-10 picnic tables. Can appreciate the owner's love of real Israeli street food TAKEOUT: 5/5 - the gyro and falafel entrees came on paper plates w plastic lids that had ventilation holes PARKING: 5/5 - plenty of parking in the Parkside Shopping Center plaza

Yelp
Sabaraba's is a kiosk in the parking lot. You order at the kiosk and they announce when your order is ready. It took awhile, but it is worth the wait for fresh food. Seating is common patio area outside. My pita schwarama was good and tasty. See pics of my order and part of the menu. Came here based on a recommendation, and would recommend if you want to grab some fresh made food. My only complaint was the server made some mistake with my credit card swiping it twice causing it to be rejected/flagged, which was hassle to get corrected. I was able to pay with another card.

Yelp
So good! Reminded me of the middle eastern food I'd get back home in Illinois. Great size portions for your buck. Had the chicken plate and can say I'll be back.

David M.

Yelp
I'veordered in the past, and it definitely seems like the food quality has gone downhill. I ordered a chicken laffa today and despite watching it come fresh off of the grill and taking a bite three minutes later, the inside of the chicken is ice cold. I'm not sure if they have switched to pre cooked meats that are warmed up on the grill or not, but it's not what it used to be. Today sealed the deal not to return.

Linda A.

Yelp
Delicious, easy to get, watch while it's made.Didn't expect it to be so good. You can order ahead.
google avatar

David Z.

Yelp
The food here is fantastic and as good as falafel shops you find in Israel! The shawarma and falafel are great. I haven't been able to try much else yet.
google avatar

LoLo L.

Yelp
Came here after a hike ima holiday weekend --desperately hungry. The food was genuinely amazing --they cook fresh to order and the chicken laffa was a meal fit for a queen. Will no longer go to overpriced, mediocre Mediterranean restaurants in the Buckhead/Sandy Springs area.

Alex M.

Yelp
SabaRaba's is a true hidden, shipping container-dwelling gem! We've liked everything that we've tried, but standouts have been the fries with harissa mayo, falafel, and the shawarma. The service is always punctual, friendly, and all orders have been accurate while including plastic utensils. The atmosphere is...well it's a shipping container in the middle of a parking lot. However there are a couple of tables you could use. Bonus points for easy parking and easy to get to off Roswell Road. One suggestion I have is to make the online ordering more customizable. It would be nice to be able to select "no pickles, lettuce, etc." or "light tahini" when ordering. I really hope things work out for y'all, this has become our favorite takeout spot.

Yelp
Decent food experience. Couple of items for vegetarians. Salad was good. Place vibes okish.

Jay T.

Yelp
Had a really good laffa with chicken shawarma, but every time I try to go (weekday lunch) they are closed. Be sure to call before driving there. Maybe the owner can respond here and explain what's going on.

Yelp
Good falafel is hard to find. Sabaraba's definitely is one of those rare good falafel places, where falafel is fresh and the portions are generous. Falafel balls aren't overly spiced, either. We tried the schnitzel and it was delicious, crispy and thin. Fries and Izzy completed this fresh and light lunch.

G P.

Yelp
Delicious. I wish them great success. I had the falafel. My friend had the schwarma.

Tiara P.

Yelp
Wanted to find a good gyro, falafel spot. Arrived @ 2pm and the man taking our order had a piece of toilet paper on his lip with blood! Didn't want to be rude because he was kind so we ordered and never ate our $35 food because we couldn't forget about the bloody toilet paper. When working in the food service that cannot happen!

Foodster K.

Yelp
Who would've thunk a truck trailer could produce and create such delicious food? We ordered online and arrived after a quite short drive to freshly prepared delicious food. The drive home was as swift and the contents were swiftly eaten by the teenagers. Actually since our first foray we have done two more meals which were just as delicious! The recent reviews in the local news are right-- go support a local restaurant in Sandy Springs!

Yelp
Holy delicious. Y'all, I'm so excited this spot is in Sandy Springs! The falafel is exceptional. The hummus is so very smooth. The cauliflower is crisp and delicious, the pita is pillowy and the Israeli salad is vibrant. We had both the shawarma and grilled chicken, yum. We will most certainly return. Can't say enough about Sabaraba's. RUN over to grab a deliciously authentic meal.

David G.

Yelp
Sabaraba's was a bit of a surprise. On the recommendation of a colleague who goes there to pick up his takeout dinner over the past two months since it opened. The babaganoush was fresh, the grilled chicken was wonderfully marinated and the shwarma was tasty and generous. Everyone who came by while I was there all said they come by to pick up dinner or lunch. My informal review process confirmed I was not alone in liking the food. The prices are very reasonable. Sitting under umbrellas at the brand new patio tables, the Middle Eastern music emanating from the static food truck (kitchen and serving window in a shipping container with a 100 health score) and the lights strung over the patio was a plus for the outing. I need to go back to try the Baklava. BTW--although you are in the actual parking lot, Sabaraba's is located next to a small grass island with park benches.

E L.

Yelp
The food was extremely authentic. Will definitely return and spread the word about this hidden gem

Valarie P.

Yelp
If you love falafel this sunny spot is great to visit when in Sandy Springs. It is worth the trip. The food is consistent and customer service is accommodating. A tucked away spot waiting for you.

Haven A.

Yelp
I saw the owner on Fox 5 and decided to check it out. Delicious! Will be stopping by after work for a healthy yummy meal when I don't feel like cooking.

Adiel L.

Yelp
Best Falafel in town! The service was quick and amazing and I highly recommended going there for a quick bite. The day I went there the owner was there and he was very friendly and welcoming!
