"Sage Bakehouse may look like a standard lattes-and-pastries joint, only they specialize in savory pies with flaky, golden-brown crusts. Flavors range from minced beef and cheddar to Hungarian chicken paprikash and seasonal vegetable. If you like spicy food, we suggest tacking on a sausage roll, then balancing it out with a sweet Pop-Tart-style hand pie (no cloying, goopy sugar bombs here). Sage Bakehouse is slightly north of Half Moon Bay, but the pies are worth a trip." - Gabi Moskowitz

"Sage Bakehouse will open its first permanent bakery and cafe space in the former Here Comes the Sun location at 8455 North Cabrillo Highway in Montara. The bakery will offer pies for dine-in and take-out, with a full coffee menu from Pacifica’s Craftsman Coffee. The menu features 25 flavors of pies, including meat pies and sweet pies, and other baked goods such as gourmet Pop-Tarts, rugelach, and croissants. Soups, salads, and roast veggies will also be offered. The bakery aims to serve as a community hub in Montara, which lacks coffee shops and grocery stores." - Paolo Bicchieri

Absolutely loved it. Everyone was super friendly and you can tell they really care about what they do! Pastries are off the chart. We basically got one of each of the pies that were available that day and ever was delicious. The pastry itself is amazing and the fillings are delicious. Definitely lives up to the rating. The drinks are great too! Cute cozy space inside as well as a great patio where you can enjoy the sea breeze.

As one of Sage Bakehouse’s youngest customers, I have to give this place a solid 5! The service is absolutely amazing, everyone is super friendly. They steamed my milk to just the right temperature, not too hot or too cold. Their strawberry pie is so good, I could eat it all! They also sell some local goods, including some beautiful baskets that I love. I also love the outdoor patio, I often get to see some dogs (my favorite animal) and the atmosphere is very welcoming!

GIANT thank you to Nick and the team at Sage Bakehouse! I held a birthday party in downtown SF over the weekend and “oh boy” did they deliver. The mini meat pies and sausage rolls they delivered (personally) went down an absolute treat. As a true blown Aussie, I was blown away by the quality. It felt just like home! They even threw in some extra blueberry pies and cookies, which I’m already craving again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality baked goods!

Pulled into the attached parking lot. Greeted by friendly staff. They have both indoor and patio seating. Coffee was good. I like that they have beans from several local sources. Tea options are nice and they also sell that brand. Didn’t have the food but looks good.

Lovely place! I had the best cappuccino and croissants of my US trip here—authentic flavors, not the overly masked ones you often find. The staff was very friendly, and the space was cozy and inviting. They definitely deserve 5 stars.

Delicious juicy pies. Meat or veg choices. Flaky crust. Eat on site or take them to go. Dine inside or outside. Outside patio seating has view of ocean and shield against wind. Inside is charming and relaxed. Right on Highway near good hiking and beaches.

As we're traveling up the West Coast, we found this place on Google. It was the perfect little pull off to have lunch. We were very impressed and surprised by the size of their sandwiches. The building is really cute and easy to get in and out.

Update: Great pies, friendly staff. Wish they had more vegan/vegetarian dairy free options but the veggie pie is delicious. Ocean view patio is lovely, could use sun shades. $10 Tasty little pies, tons of variety, mostly savory flavors. Fresh and healthy tasting. Good salsas on the table. Friendly gentleman at the counter. Look forward to them opening during the week and enjoying their patio with ocean view.
