Butter Chicken Co. Brings Its Fast-Moving Indian Combo Trays to H Street NE - Eater DC

"A Vietnamese counter called Saigon Street is now open around the clock at MGM National Harbor, aiming to keep late-night gamblers going with chef Gene Nguyen’s banh mi sandwiches, pan-fried noodle dishes, and pho bowls. The sleek, fast-casual setup is part of MGM’s grab-and-go “National Market” food hall area (Shake Shack, Zizi’s Pizza). Saigon Street’s grand opening is scheduled for Sunday, June 30. Meanwhile, José Andrés’s full-service Fish restaurant just unveiled a refurbished outdoor extension dubbed “The Patio,” complete with communal tables outfitted with built-in beverage coolers and lounge chairs. Al fresco highlights include clams, lobster rolls, peel-and-eat shrimp, and rosé Mondays. Status: Certified open." - Eater Staff

It’s what you’d expect. Food court style food but a little more upscale. The beef was a bit chewy and slimey but the sauce was good. The rice was standard and so was the pho. If you need something to fill you up and fast then there’s a is a great option.

Google
Service was poor. Server was rude. Annoyed at explaining there’s no beef tendon. Pho should have tendon. Duck soup was mediocre. Overpriced. Broth is sweet and noodles are dead and lifeless. I wanted rice noodles. Cost was $40

The food was good, but nothing special. It is a bit over priced. A bowl of pho was 27$ but it just taste like reg pho from other places. The crispy chicken had a slight crispy coating served with sweet chili sauce.

Love this place! Food is excellent “Fast Food” environment because of their location but food is NOT “fast food” but fast! !!!🤗Excellent! Love the fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce! All freshly made! It’s the busiest place around! ;) Go at off times👍 Update:!!! Orders out super fast right now!❤️

Google
Overall the food is okay and one of the more decent options in MGM but dishes are way overpriced here. Staff aren’t very friendly here either. Food—there are a lot of options!! Came here Sunday night for late night dining—seats were available but after a while, this place was packed at midnight! The Pork Rice Platter was okay—the meat was seasoned good but it was over cooked and dry. The Yummie Chicken Wings (flavored in fish sauce) and the Saigon Street Pho Noodle Soup were both mediocre—decent size portions but over priced—$25 for a bowl of pho?! One of the biggest perks of this place is that it is open 24/7!

Most of the reviews here criticize the customer service and unfortunately, I have to agree. On the night I arrived, the person I spoke to while receiving my order was quite dismissive. An item was missing from my bag and instead of apologizing, the worker dragged it from behind the register and handed it to me as if I should've known it was there. When I asked about the straw, she just signaled with her hand, not saying a word. That night, I ordered a chicken rice platter, gỏi cuốn (noted as just spring rolls there, chả giò are the crispy spring rolls listed on the menu) and a milk tea with boba. The rolls and milk tea were not too bad, but the chicken in the rice platter was extremely dry. We wanted to use our reward points before leaving, so we ordered again in the morning the next day. A good thing to note is that this place is open 24/7. In our morning order, we got a bowl of Bún Bò Huế, two Saigon bánh mì and a bowl of Bánh Canh. We also got milk tea again and Vietnamese iced coffee. The BBH was decent, as were the other menu items, but for all the noodle soups, they utilized the meat used in phở instead of the cuts you would normally expect. Customer service on the 2nd day was alright though, so no complaints. Attached to my review are pics of the menu and some of the menu items I ordered.

Google
To be honest, my expectations were extremely low given that this is inside the MGM… so maybe it’s biased. Obviously overpriced and I wouldn’t recommend if you’re not staying/playing at the MGM. But not a bad option considering the convenience in MGM.

Yelp
Alright we've got to stop the hate this place gets Goddammit. They work hard, do everything they can to get the food right and constantly get harassed and abused by the clientele of the Casino. Vietnamese food isn't meant to be expensive and they have to increase their prices here because the Casino gives away hundreds of thousands of comps every single day and they are usually the ONLY place that is open and people flock to them usually in a pissed off mood looking for a bite to eat after losing all their money. Be respectful, Yelp - your not being helpful by saying they're inflating their numbers because a 2 star rating isn't very high.

Yelp
Awesome place, too bad they're closed now. Literally was the only place open before Bread & Butter popped up. Now they serve Noodle

Yelp
The service here felt very rushed. We waited in line and received our food. However, they don't really call out your number so you're sitting there wondering if your order is coming soon. There's plenty of seating. Everything was super overpriced. We got the lobster pho, yummie wings, and banh mi along with 2 drinks. Our total for everything was $157. The lobster pho was overrated. Definitely don't recommend. The lobster was very chewy. I had a hard time biting the meat off. The broth didn't really have that pho taste especially since it's $75. The yummie wings were $15 for 5 wings. Probably the better thing I had on the menu but the sauce used was not the typical fish sauce I am used to. The banh mi bread was crispy and too thin in my opinion. The meat had some flavor but it wasn't quite there. Overall, I wouldn't try this place again.

Yelp
Everything's overpriced inside the casino but it is what it is rents expensive as hell so it's only normal. Food here probably is one of the best inside National harbor. I usually get their beef fried rice which is but wanted to try their chicken. Their fried rice is one of the best I've had yummie wings were super good fried perfectly. You must add siracha and oyster sauce to your fried rice make sure you ask for packets because they will never put it in unless you ask. Sauce left from the yummie wings also made it great sauce to mix into the fried rice. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
This pho was calling my name and I finally bit the bullet. The broth was not up yet typical pho broth, but had a super strong and rich seafood taste. The lobster itself was actually a very decent size and was very sweet as well. Now is this the best pho? No, but it definitely hits the spot and is a fun item to get when at the casino. A nice little splurge if you're ever at MGM!

Yelp
Came here while visiting MGM casino. Of course Pho is my favorite thing so i know good quality Pho. This Pho broth was outstanding but the chicken not so much. It was one day away from being spoiled. Unfortunately i could taste it when i ate it the first day but wasn't sure if it was the chicken or the sprouts. Day 2 i went to heat up the leftovers and smelled the chicken and threw it out. The crispy spring rolls were amazing tho. I would go back for those and the drinks. But sadly i am disappointed about the Pho i really wanted to have a 24 hour pho spot i could go to.

Yelp
The food is was above average but not great. The crab fried rice was very good and had lots of crab meat in it. The broth of the chicken pho was good. There were big chunks of white meat chicken in the chicken pho. The service needs improvement. The cashiers needed to pay more attention to customers instead of talking of cell phones and to other coworkers. The food was overpriced in my opinion. I paid about $73 for crab fried rice, chicken pho and a mango juice drink. Yes, I will eat there again to try other items on the menu. The ambiance was so so.

Yelp
Great food located in the casino. Prices are a little more than usual for Vietnamese food however it's fresh and tasty! Portion size for the chicken banh mi was way more than I've had before for a sandwich. The egg rolls were decent. I also ordered one of their fruit teas.
google avatar

Vu L.

Yelp
Overall, their food is good. A little over price compared to other Vietnamese restaurants but it's very good. What you expect when it's located at the MGM casino? Overall? They give you a lot so no complaints. My only one star deduction is due to them giving me small ox tail so $45 is steep when I can make my own ox tail pho soup. I tried their lemon grass chicken and grilled pork and they taste really good. The Banhi Mi in my opinion is good but not excellent. I had better.
google avatar

MC C.

Yelp
Best pho in town!! Yummy yummie chicken wings! Always look forward to a Saigon street dinner!
google avatar

Jolin E.

Yelp
24 hours is great. Excellent service and a very wide choice of Vietnamese food Ambience is awesome
google avatar

Gabriella F.

Yelp
Bad service, extremely overpriced, but the chicken fried rice was excellent. Would only recommend if you're staying at the MGM and you're in a pinch when everything else is already closed.
google avatar

Tenny D.

Yelp
Busy place but worth the wait. Saigon street pho and Saigon street bahn mi are the perfect combo. Little in a pricy side. It is worth getting both to dunk the bahn mi in the pho.
google avatar

Mel B.

Yelp
I get the same thing every single time. It doesn't matter the day or time, the pho is always good, the spring rolls and summer rolls are always PERFECTION! The fact the it's open around the clock is a major plus.
google avatar

M K.

Yelp
Good food but the line moves so goddamn slow you could drive to Eden Center and back before placing your order here. Go anywhere else.
google avatar

Alexander J.

Yelp
Hit the spot. Worth a try. What I recommend against: the pre-tax $75 lobster dishes because no matter how much they crack the shell for you it simply isn't enough and they leave ylyou with your hands, a plastic fork, and wooden chopsticks to fend for yourself. Note: it is not a fun experience. You almost need to shower after it. Stick with the basics here. Oh: avoid the Vietnamese iced coffee because it isn't Vietnamese iced coffee. What it is, is awful.
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
As expected, the food is overpriced and the portions are small. It was very disappointing to see the tiny amount of rice I got for a $20-$30 entree to go. The beef was delicious, but I wish there was more meat and definitely more rice. However, It is a 24 hour casino restaurant after all. This is a nice place to go for some Asian food anytime, but just expect the random long lines late at night as this is the only restaurant open all night.
google avatar

Tran N.

Yelp
Good Vietnamese food. The line is not too crazy, service is fast at lunch time. I tried the Banh Mi and Banh Canh Noodles Soup and they are both amazing. Thanks for having this in MGM.
google avatar

Sonya D.

Yelp
Expected my food to look and taste better than the advertised pictures, online and on the board. Paid about $84.00 for this food. We were hungry so we ate it because it wasn't much open this time of night. Salmon dinner was the size of a Weight Watchers frozen dinner w/ cold broccoli. My crab fried rice wasn't fried much. It was tasty while the pieces of crab meat was present and after that was gone, so was the flavor in the rice. Probably should've ordered pho instead. The staff was pleasant despite of.
google avatar

A. G.

Yelp
Food is good but takes too long to order. Every time I've had to wait 5-10 minutes to order when there is no line. I've seen people walk away in frustration. They need to have online ordering. They would get so much more business from people who are tired of the ridiculous lines and delays in ordering.
google avatar

Edwin B.

Yelp
Good customer service and the phone soup here is very delicious very recommended. A must have is the chicken pho as I like it with no onion and no scallions.
google avatar

Caryll J.

Yelp
I ordered the fried rice with chicken and it was surprisingly basic AF. The flavor wasn't bad but it was literally rice, onion and chicken.

Sherrell C.

Yelp
Food was good and fresh. Drink was what I needed it to be. Shrimp fried rice and summer roll.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Order a soup, pay high price to wait 30 minutes for a soup. Number got called came over to retrieve the Meal. The guy asked for the ticket I forgot the ticket went back to get ticket the soup had been given to another customer with the rest of my order. 30 minutes wait so they can say wait 15 min more for a soup. 25 minutes later there was no soup done yet. Almost an hour later no soup. How can I trust this restaurant. I left with no answer to my questions. Don't waste your money nor time here.
google avatar

Jess L.

Yelp
Service was fast, ambiance is beautiful and clean. Good taste good! Open 24hrs! I would recommend this place over others I've been to.
google avatar

Yelp
Welcome to 24 Hours Pho aka Saigon Street at MGM National Harbor. I love their signature Pho. Huge bowl of soup. Lots of veggies and noodles. Spicy. Lots of interesting flavors. Chicken wings is fresh and crispy. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend if you like this cuisine. And if you're unfamiliar with it, give it a try. DJ_AZNSAYS: Win money at the casino and it's free food.

Yelp
OH EM GEEEEEEEE! I didn't want to share this hidden gem because the food was soooooo good, but I could t help myself. Please RUN do not walk! I repeat RUN! There food was super fresh and so flavorful. It's in a food court so my expectations weren't very high, I'm glad I was wrong. The food taste better than some 5 star restaurants I've been top, and the staff was super pleasant and helpful with ordering for the first time. Im already planning my next visit!

James N.

Yelp
The chicken rolls was delicious I noticed they did look different. After tasting they was good I would get again. The yummie wings was also good. I was disappointed the one was burnt.
google avatar

Elyse M.

Yelp
Wasn't worth the price. I got one of the cheaper dishes on the menu, Chicken Fried Rice for 24 dollars. There wasn't much flavor and could've been prepared better all around.

Wilhelm K.

Yelp
The food is fairly good. But the want me to write ts good comment before i order the food. So that i can get this 10 dollar discount. That's quite unreasonable
google avatar

Kyle N.

Yelp
I love Bahn Mi! It's the perfect fusion between the Vietnamese rich culinary tradition, and the French colonial heritage. So now that I'm staying at the MGM National Harbor I couldn't pass the opportunity to try Saigon Street's. Their grilled pork Bahn Mi is one of the best I've had. The meat is well marinated, very aromatic and tender, and the baguette fresh and crispy. I also tried their spring rolls, equally great.
google avatar

Albert Dean S.

Yelp
Food is Good. I ordered the Lobster Pho. The price was kind of expensive given the location at MGM . But the Service is horrible. I ask for a cup of water. The cashier said they don't have tapwater.I have to order bottled water. How can you have no tapwater if you make pho or food don't you need water to cook food? the cashier was ridiculous. 3 stars total
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Visited Saigon while at mgm. It's 24hrs, and the only option sometimes. There is sometimes a wait depending on how busy. The pho wasn't bad, but a little skimpy on meats. They packaged my to-go order pretty well, with the noodles, broth, and toppings separated. When I put all the things in the bowl and poured the broth, there was too much broth. I'll say the bowl is too small as it's not a lot of broth. The taste is good. A bit overpriced for what you get, but it's a casino. Not a bad option if you're in the mood and it's the only thing open. I laughed at the 88 buck wagyu pho or lobster.
google avatar

Patricia N.

Yelp
Hell to the UHHHHHH NAAAAHHHH!!!! I asked a simple question about maybe having my steak for my pho rare. He completely shut me down! Then I asked for extra Sriracha and he responded like so "we have no more Sriracha I cannot get it from anywhere! No one will sell to me and you know how many ppl ask for extra???!!!!!" McDonald's gives me the runs and I would choose it over this place! Hands down. Don't waste money or your comp points.
google avatar

Richie C.

Yelp
Listen, this place is in a casino (MGM Grand) so the dishes are waaay overpriced. As far as taste, the Bum Bo Hue is too fishy and the banh Canh is not authentic. The Yummy wings might be the only dish we liked here. Overall, I don't recommend this place especially with much better Vietnamese food right across the bridge.
google avatar

Terrell R.

Yelp
Generally food courts are hit or miss for me but this turned out to be a fairly decent Vietnamese cuisine spot within the MGM. The menu features items like crispy chicken wings, spring rolls, steamed or fried rice with chicken options, different chicken and seafood noodle options, pho, and wok inspired dishes like rolling thunder beef and lemongrass chicken. Items are definitely pricey but to be expected given the in-casino convenience. The service was solid the food came out fairly quickly even given the long line of customers that were in front of me. I ordered the spring rolls ($10) and grilled shrimp vermicelli ($29) dish. The spring rolls were ok nothing life changing but the vermicelli dish was actually pretty good the shrimp weren't overdone, fresh tasting ingredients, and overall good flavor. All in all not a bad option within the casino if you're left choosing from the casino food court options.
google avatar

Monique H.

Yelp
The line is over an hr wait for soup or sandwich no one is answering the phone you keep getting a constant message of nothing me is available to take you call. Pathetic Update.... Finally got my soup and it was actually really tasty. Wasn't a fan of the chicken the used but the broth was flavorful. I'd definitely order here again.
google avatar

Carlton M.

Yelp
Ordered this to go after the lounge. Was very tasty. Loved my noodles and the egg roll. Def good eats after the club.
google avatar

Nina D.

Yelp
Pricey but good! Pho broth is best when warm and good to eat there. The calamari is a must! Tastes flash fried and first time I've ever had it rectangle cut. Surprised we liked it because it was a thicker batter, but was still light. Been here twice and with it.
google avatar

Kop L.

Yelp
I waited 20mins for my order The owner keep saying 122 My food ended up sitting there like another 10mins
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
We went to Saigon Street for lunch and it was delicious. I got the vegetarian pho which was loaded with a variety of different veggies which I appreciate because sometimes the veggie options only have one or two different vegetables in them. My lunch companion got the pork banh mi which he said was delicious. Also got the Thai tea with boba but it wasn't my favorite. Gave 4 stars because it was pricey, but I guess that's to be expected since it's in the casino; just thought vegetarian option should be less expensive than ones with meat but it's the same price as chicken and only slightly less expensive than beef.
google avatar

Tyler C.

Yelp
When lunch starts at 25 dollars, you expect something really good. Even at a fast food court in a casino. I got the pork rice dish and have to say that the pork was terrific. The rice good and sticky enough to eat with the pork. It was plastic utensils and no knife to cut the pork, but I think your supposed to cut the meat with your teeth. Good food.
google avatar

Sharon T.

Yelp
Chef Genie Nguyen is making that paper every time people come and eat her food. I mean honestly, if you are willing to putout $20+ for a bowl of pho, then that means you are either super hungry or have money to burn. I honestly came to enjoy and see the MGM and so knowing I was going to be spending money I had to order knowing my party was super hungry. I assume you get what u pay for, but that was not exactly what I got. The pho is just nothing but average. I mean they got fresh ingredients but I felt the meat was a little bit on the stingy side. The broth was meh. The chicken plate with rice was expensive. I mean everything was.. even the bahn mi was outrageously priced. The fried rice was small and the boba teas were super sweet. They pre make the thai tea. Had I known i wouldn't have gotten it because it needed more tea and milk and less ice. There is ample seating.. and you can order through QR code. I really felt my food wasn't worth the money.
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
I got the chicken stir fry with cellophane noodles. It was really good. Flavors were on point. Ambiance is good. Service was slow but that's expected when everything is made to order. It was worth the wait. My only complaint is that the food is expensive but it was good enough that I've been back a few times.
google avatar

Jahaan T.

Yelp
10/10 every time! Open 24/7. I visit every time I go to MGM. Service is fast and the food is delicious (even better cold). Make sure you ask for some spice!

River C.

Yelp
I had the chicken stir fry rice, which was much more than I could eat in one sitting. But I did and murdered it. I went and ordered a Waygul Pho Soup afterward. I couldn't believe that I had a double homicide with the soup as well, and the Waygul Beef is food for the Elitis group of upper Chialon of well-to-dos, and I never knew that Waygul could melt in someone's mouth. So for both Exec. Chef Gordon Ramsey's Fresh buttered Scallops and Exec. Chef Gene Nguyen's Waygul pho soup. I can now go to Heaven with a very satisfied Pallet.

Haven W.

Yelp
Saigon is a solid option at the MGM at the National Harbor!! I slide by and grab wings and a noodle dish almost each time I'm at MGM!

Emmy L.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. The manager was very rude. The pho was overpriced and the noodles were over cooked. The manager did not want to exchange our food . I will never come back here
google avatar

HeyyyLynnn_ C.

Yelp
Okay so the prices in this place is hefty, double/triple the price compared to other restaurant though given it's inside MGM. Despite the hefty price we still wanna try the place to see what's up. We ordered summer roll, spring roll, seafood rice noodle, banh canh and thai tea. Our order came out about 20-30mins give and take. It was not what I expected, or maybe I have high expectations especially on the banh canh noodle soup that I ordered. Here is my honest opinion for each items: Summer Rolls - it was okay, and for the price should level up. Spring Rolls - it was okay, and again for the price, not justified the taste. Seafood Rice Noodle - noodles were dry, taste was meh and nothing really stands out And the most awaited and highly expected item, Banh Canh Noodle Soup - the broth was red thick soup, not flavorful imo. The noodles were all short and soggy, overcooked noodles. I was not impressed at all. Thai tea - i mean it should be simple thai tea but this doesn't really taste like one. Overall, nothing too special. Food was all meh and for that price.. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. I wish we could've just got Shake Shack. But oh well at least we tried and it will be our last. We are not coming back and will not recommend this place at all.
