Saint Theo's - Review - West Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Saint Theo’s is a scene disguised as a culinary experience. That might sound harsh, but downtown Manhattan is full of such places, and, as far as cute, trendy restaurants go, this one’s far from the worst. Inspired by the Italian coast and the city of Venice, this West Village spot has parquet floors and glossy mirrored columns, and it’s exactly the kind of place where you might run into an ex who recently left a job in finance for a different, similar job in finance. Unlike most sceney restaurants, Saint Theo's at least attempts to serve a menu that isn't 100% boring—but the results are often underwhelming. Mostly what you’ll find is slightly updated Italian food that seems like it had, at one point, intended to be exceptional, but gave up halfway and decided to have a spritz instead. If you’d like to enjoy your Venetian fantasy in peace, stick to the highlights. Start with fried sardines (and be sure to douse them in lemon juice, as they can arrive a bit dry), try a few slivers of crudo, then split an order of the relatively cost-efficient butter chicken that comes with a small pile of crepes on the side. You’ll probably feel the urge to order a pasta as well, but we encourage you to fight that urge. There’s too much good pasta in this city, and the options here will only remind you of better versions you can get a few blocks away. You might assume that an Italian restaurant that serves skippable pastas is, itself, skippable. And that’s a fair assumption. Like sister restaurant American Bar, this place exists to serve as the proper setting for your newest pair of pants, and you won’t lose sleep if you never eat a meal here. But if all you want to do is exist for a few moments in a beautiful room with throw pillows and white tablecloths, you could do a lot worse. Food Rundown Bread Forget the chic design and sceney atmosphere. The best thing about Saint Theo’s is the complimentary bread. The bread is squishy and focaccia-esque, and it always comes accompanied by some kind of dip or condiment. In the past, we’ve received pleasantly tart and herbaceous pickles, as well as a ramekin stuffed with butter, olive oil, and apricot jam. Mozzarella In Carozza A Southern Italian dish similar to a grilled cheese sandwich, this mozzarella in carozza looks great on paper, but somehow disappoints. It doesn’t offer much you can’t get from a pack of frozen mozzarella sticks (which are, admittedly, good). Salmon Crudo Certain dishes might not be on the menu when you stop by. If you see this salmon crudo, get it. It comes with big, meaty ribbons of salmon, chopped salty olives, and an abundance of deep-green olive oil. Guanciale Pasta This linguine with guanciale and preserved orange mostly just tastes like the buttered noodles you’d make for yourself half-asleep on a Wednesday. There’s an aggressive amount of butter involved, and the bits of guanciale awkwardly sink to the bottom of the dish. Ricotta Gomiti We suspect (and this is pure speculation) that this is Saint Theo’s answer to Carbone’s spicy rigatoni vodka. The dish is minimalist—like that other pasta—but the one-note ricotta sauce will only hold your attention for so long. If your friends have been talking about this and you absolutely have to try it, get an order to split with one or two other people. You won’t be upset, but you might get bored. Butter Chicken Repeat after us: Always get the butter chicken. It’s big enough to split, and it tastes exactly like butter and chicken. You’ll even get some thin crepes on the side (similar to how Dirty French serves their chicken), which is a nice touch. Cheeseburger This double-patty burger isn’t perfect, but it’s slightly ambitious and seems promising if you squint (which is how we'd describe Saint Theo's in a nutshell). The pancetta and taleggio are both welcome additions, although they make every bite extremely salty." - Bryan Kim

cute outdoor seating + restaurant in wv! we made a reservation for an outdoor seating for friday dinner. quickly got seated and ordered their prosciutto pizza, calamari, and pasta. pizza was mediocre.. was chewy for some reason and i didn’t like the texture. calamari was also just okay, pasta was a little bit more decent than the rest. menu was pretty small for dinner as well. service was kind and fast, but just a mid nyc dinner experience for me :(. funny thing is, the free bread was the best thing we had LOL :(

Google
it’s good if you’re in the area but i wouldn’t go out of your way to come here. the meatballs and calamari were good, nothing special. the pizzette is basically cheesy toast; very crispy and almost sauceless. the lobster pasta was not bad, a little sour for my taste. i would recommend the olive oil cake for dessert.

Google
I had caesar salad, sungold pomodoro, and lobster linguine. The casear salad was really good but the lettuce was too big for bites. The croutons are so good!! def recommend that. The complimentary bread was also soft and fresh. The pastas are so sour, you can only taste the lime and chili flakes. Both pasta has similar sauce and can't even taste the lobster. The service was 10/10.

Google
French fries are elite ! Lovely ambiance. Food is pretty good but nothing different / special. Had the bianco pizza and pomodoro pasta (which was well sauced!)

Everything was just amazing. We celebrared our Valentines day dinner here. Service, atmosphere, food definitely worth 5 start. It was my second time at Saint Theo’s truly enjoyed the experience.

Google
Service was awful but the drinks & food were very good. Had to ask to order multiple times & waiters never came up to us

Google
Loved the few times we’ve dined here. The mortadella bites, Cesar pipette, chopped/Cesar salads and chicken Milanese are standouts.

Had a great dinner here last night. Our server was Princess and she did a great job. The tuna crudo was seasoned to perfection, the zucchini fries were perfectly fried with a tasty dipping sauce. For entree I had the branzino, which although delicious, I thought it could have used a sauce. The side order of asparagus was AMAZING! To finish it off the olive oil cake was great but the berry compote or whatever the fruit aspect was on the side was very salty. Overall I would definitely come back but maybe on a quieter night as it was so busy it was a little hard to have a conversation. Again, thank you very much to Princess for great service and keeping the champagne flowing for my belated birthday dinner.

Yelp
Omar made our time here extra special. Not to say the food was not absolutely scrumptious (we got the burrata and the nicoise), the SERVICE was absolutely IMMACULATE!!! Although we sat outside, the ambiance was still just absolutely gushing with classiness and good vibes. So, although the food was already a 10/10, Omar's service and amazing personality and charm made our stay that much more amazing and made our food taste that much more delicious. Don't waste your time at the other brunch spots in the west village, they are all IMPOSTERS! Saint Theo's is WHERE ITS AT!!! Be sure to ask for Omar!!!!!!! Almost forgot to mention they are so super duper friendly when it comes to dogs! We had our pup with us outside and she as well had an amazing time!!!!!

Yelp
This place is beautiful inside and such a cool place. I think the food is very decent, nothing amazing. For the price point I was expecting a little more wow factor with the food. I definitely think this is a cool place to grab drinks and dinner with friends, but not coming here only for the food. Service was very good too.

Yelp
There's nothing explicitly wrong with Saint Theo's and a lot of good, actually. I especially loved sitting outdoors on a summer evening with the super vibey lighting and decor with West Village architecture all around. The food is fine but not particularly memorable. Im adding pictures but to be honest I don't remember what any of it was lol. As a result, I probably won't return eagerly since it was a bit pricey for a lackluster meal; however, if a friend asked me to go again I wouldn't be against it. To summarize: fine if you find yourself there; enjoyable vibes. Maybe don't go out of your way to try this place though.

Yelp
Saint theos is a cute spot with good service, but the food wasn't incredible for the price. Our server was extremely friendly and offered us lattes as soon as we sat down (which we mostly accepted because we were confused about what he was asking). While the lattes were good, when we got the bill we learned they were $7 and pretty small. We ordered the Mezzaluna appetizer to start which was the best thing we ate - the bread was a delicious focaccia and the eggplant spread was delicious. We then each had different entrees, I had the mozzarella in carozzo and my friends had the ricotta gemelli and lemon linguini. All were fine but nothing incredible. For the price, I would've expected more exciting flavors. All in all Saint Theo's was a good experience, but we probably won't be back here

Yelp
One of the best restaurants I ate at in 2024 can't wait to come back. Everything was great but especially the food this chef is dialed

Yelp
Sat at the bar with my friend which is what we usually prefer, it's more fun. The bartenders were so polite and service was excellent. We decided to share some light bites and appetizers and have wine. I love oysters in general, can't go wrong with oysters and these were fresh and tasty. A little salad, calamari and tuna tare tare all very good shareables and can't go wrong. All super fresh. My favorite was the tuna tare tare. I appreciate the bread they gave us since I'm a light weight when I have wine. It helped sober me up and I was ready to continue the night. The wine selection is also pretty great with some nice options for women. Love the ambiance at the bar especially if you're single. You can people watch. The one thing we noticed was that these guys do not want to approach women for some reason. Maybe because they don't want to give up their seats lol Not sure what the crowd is like at night but everyone looks the same

Yelp
Gotta start off with some appreciation for the fact that this place didn't kick me out after my homegirl was 45 minutes late to our res, and nor did the bartender made me feel judged for sitting looking like I got stood up while I crushed 2 cosmos by myself lmao. Food was expensive as hell and honestly so mid, even 2 drinks deep. The amberjack crudo was meh, the salad was forgettable, and the lemon pasta was way too lemony. Tbh some of the worst pasta I've had in NYC. Vibes were good though, place was bumpin'. Also I'm mad as hell that the bartender originally gave me a bill only charging me for 2 drinks then corrected it (crushed a 3rd cosmo when my homegirl eventually showed up, felt that this morning) LMAOOO I really was hyped for a few seconds when I saw that first bill. But she made a solid drink so I'll forgive her.

Yelp
Went here for coffee/brunch today & was happy to get in as it was Sunday afternoon in West Village. We were initially seated at a table but decided to move to the bar (both of which were comfortable in terms of seating, but there were fewer people at the bar so it was easier for my friend and I to catch up). The bar is done up in terrazzo speckle! I got an iced latte, they have whole milk & 2 dairy-free options incl. oat milk. My friend ordered a black drip coffee & an espresso. He also ordered food: fries ($12) & the "Full Italian" ($35). I tried the fries which were quite tasty as they had parmesan + black pepper on them. The Full Italian comes with fennel sausage, sunny side egg, cannellini beans, tomato, Calabrian potato, and grilled sourdough. Being as my friend is Italian, I of course wanted to get his thoughts for my review: This is where I'd come to cheat when I periodically try a no-carb diet. The fries are the type where I eat one at a time. I walked in hungry and left feeling very satisfied, but not at all bloated. The ingredients in the food were of very high quality, and there were 6 different food items on my plate (Full Italian), but the flavors of each were distinct. The portion sizes are adequate - not small, but not overly generous, but I did not have to eat a lot to feel like I was eating a lot. The flavor of each item was zesty and lively; the food felt hearty. Eggs had good consistency, hardly runny. The sourdough tasted good dry (no topping); perhaps because it was grilled vs. toasted I felt like I was eating more than just bread. The tomatoes pleasantly burst in my mouth, and while the sausage wasn't anything amazing, it sure did taste good - and it had an illusion of being healthy. The beans were kind of just beans, but they tasted fine and I ate them all. The potatoes were the star of the show - they were the zestiest and liveliest on the plate. The fries were probably good enough to justify $12 almost anywhere. Some of the $35 for the Full Italian felt like it was paying for the ambiance. All of the food was high quality, and there was enough of it, but there wasn't any steak or salmon or any key ingredients with a naturally high price tag. I'd expect to pay $30 or less for the same plate of food at a less fancy restaurant. For an upscale brunch experience, it checks all the boxes. As someone who doesn't have a sophisticated palate, I like to shovel food into my mouth, but the flavors were exquisite enough to make me want to eat slowly (I said exquisite enough on purpose. Exquisite by itself is too strong of a word for their food. It wasn't that good, just exquisite enough). The staff was friendly, attentive, and very polite, and by sitting at the bar we had privacy to talk. There are two nice bathrooms (gender-neutral); the first unisex restroom has a photo of a topless woman (JFYI)! Since we love specifics, the bathroom pic deets are: Eva Herzigová / Pirelli Calendar 1998 / ph. Bruce Weber. Vibe - it's a stylish space with an ode to Italian modernism indeed and the aesthetics are on point, which I noticed through the colors (notably canary and emerald with bronze accents), unique typography, and nostalgic interior décor that seemed like vintage calendars/posters. Think: Studio 54 turned chic Italian restaurant - fun & enjoyment, bringing fabulousness back to dinner (& brunch!). The diverse menu is heavily Italy-inspired, translated in a modern way through playfulness. I'm happy I finally got to try it since I live around the corner & always see liveliness buzzing around in the evenings! If going for dinner, make a reservation in advance to ensure a table. I'll be going back so I can experience the dinner atmosphere. Fun facts: they sell merch online which seems to be popular since there's a $60 hoodie that's currently sold out. Manolo Blahnik had a launch dinner there for the archival debut. MatchesFashion has hosted an event there during fashion week. There's a secret "Venice Bar" behind the restaurant; a newer, 20-seat, Venetian-inspired cocktail bar hidden behind plush velvet burgundy curtains by the restaurant dining room where one can order drinks and "Cicchetti" (traditional Venetian small bites) by crimson-colored banquets, vintage Pirelli calendars, a big Maitland Smith mirror, and Murano sconces that come straight from the Italian town. The original inspiration behind Saint Theo's was born from the idea of Cicchetti with cocktails in a classic Venetian lounge. Both spaces were developed from that core vision of your most memorable vacation to Venice. Before opening, the team traveled to Venice, during the Festa del Redentore (Feast of the Redeemer), an annual fireworks event to celebrate the end of the plague in Europe. The beverage program is led by head bartender Kyle Sheridan and is dedicated to the art of both the Italian aperitivo and digestivo.

Yelp
Beautiful vibrant, eclectic interior with classic leather banquettes and white table cloths. The food and service leave something to be desired for the price you're paying. Not terrible, not great. If you want great Italian, this wouldn't be the spot. If you want drinks and apps in a chic environment, it is!
google avatar

Safia S.

Yelp
We had dinner here last night and it was super! The staff are great-shout out to Jamie! Our drinks were delicious (get the dirty spritz!). We started the meal with the calamari. Then had the stracciatella which is truly not to be missed! I had the lemony pastas which was great and had a strong lemony flavor my friend had the fennel sausage pasta. All in all a great dinner! The place bets packed so make reservations!!
google avatar

Sue D.

Yelp
Stopped for a spontaneous cocktail (okay - maybe two) with a friend. Sat at the bar. Polite service from the bartender and we ordered two Paper Planes with Reposada tequila instead of bourbon. He held up the Casamigos bottle and we said "yes". Cocktails were tasty and well made but it seems like he should have mentioned the $10 per cocktail up-charge, right? Normal menu price for a Paper Plane is $19. Final price with $20 tip $138 for four drinks. Buyer beware.
google avatar

Andrew K.

Yelp
Had a handful of appetizers and the lamb entree. Thought the lamb was amazing! Service was great as well.
google avatar

Ariana L.

Yelp
This is just way too overpriced for what it is. The menu is great- but between the portion sizing and hefty prices, there are tons of better options in walking distance. The reason to come here is if you want to feel boujee, spend money whilst sipping on a fancy cocktail. The atmosphere is unique, romantic and homey. I love the booths but they're super hard to come by in a reservation. The sauce on the white asparagus is amazing but I would probably skip this unless I was looking to splurge on a pretty basic meal.
google avatar

Elana S.

Yelp
Very loud restaurant, food is so mediocre and ambiance is ok-ish. Service was good though starting from managers finishing with busboys.
google avatar

Darian B.

Yelp
Saint Theos has amazing food and drinks that are definitely worth trying. The menu is creative and everything tastes fantastic, plus the cocktails are spot on. The only downside is that service can be a bit slow sometimes, especially when it's busy. Despite that, the staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, it's a great spot if you don't mind waiting a bit to order/pay.
google avatar

Julio P.

Yelp
Just enjoy the food. You could have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and that camera still will not be good enough for their extreme low light loud af ambience. My server was probably one of the nicest and coolest guys I've ever met in the city tho.

Marat M.

Yelp
I want to share my an experience at this restaurant a week ago on NYCPride on June 30th. My friend and I decided to try brunch and I ordered a glass of rose and frittata (I can attach a photo of the portiont), so this place needs to change the presentation of the frittata and also how was cooked it, it was just two egg bites like in Starbucks without much filling, they can't charge the customers for this dish of $25, it was not also possible to eat the brad that much fried, salad on the side without dressing and poor. Later, the amount for wine was mixed up in the receipt and the waiter wanted to get $30 instead $18. We also waited a long time for drinks and the hospitality at a low level in such place, the interior was beautiful and it was nice to be inside. Complete disappointment! Do not go there!
google avatar

Joy M.

Yelp
Love this place. The vibe was very upbeat for a Wednesday night. Service was unbelievable. Never felt ignored and I swear they could read my mind. We started with the fennel salad. Was plenty to split between the two of us. Full of greens, fennel and the most flavourful Parmesan. I ordered the tuna crudo. The only thing I was a little disappointed with. Found it a little bland, dry and no flavour. Also, I thought it should come with a side if crackers or something to eat it with. Ordered the cherry tomato pasta. It was excellent. Lots of sauce, pasta was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back for more pasta and that amazing bread.
google avatar

Yelp
I heard so much hype about this place and was so excited to get a last minute reservation here in October with a friend of mine. We were seated right away. The tables are VERY close together. I am used to that in NYC, but it felt even closer than normal and the noise level was very high, in my opinion, for a nice restaurant. The food was fabulous! To start, we shared the stracciatella (cheese) and tuna crudo. Both were incredible, especially the tuna. They also give you bread for the table, which was warm and freshly baked. For my entree, I had a special which was a cod ravioli. I loved the al dente pasta and the cod flavor was surprising and unique. It was the perfect portion of pasta. I would totally get this again if they had it! I also tried the vaporetto cocktail. It was refreshing. The flavors melted together perfectly! All in all, the food was a 10 out of 10! The ambiance was great, but the only reason this isn't a 5 star review is the cramped tables. Other than that, it was a great experience!

Yelp
Unfortunately.... We were seated at a beautiful table and halfway through our meal a massive cockroach crawled across the table. We alerted a host who didn't immediately get the manager (he seemed unsure of what to do and who can blame him), and then once a second roach was spotted on the wall, we begged for the manager so we could at least settle the bill / tip our waiter and leave immediately. We didn't want to stay there for a second longer. They asked if we wanted to move to another table (we of course said no we're getting the hell out of here we don't want to touch any more food here) and the manager comped the meal (we had appetizers and one round of drinks at that point and were waiting for entrees) which was very nice of him but we were all so freaked out and grossed out we didn't care and just wanted to leave. As we were finally leaving a third cockroach was spotted crawling on the ceiling above our table. We were in the side room and everyone in there was in complete shock / some girls who just walked in even took pictures of the massive roaches because it was so insane. The manager handed me the resturaunt card (idk why) and apologized profusely and said they would be happy to have us back any time. Nice gesture but of course will not be returning. I've been living in NYC for a while, and while of course roaches come with the territory...I have NEVER experienced something like this in a dining situation. I'm sure it was a one off issue as the very nice hostess said she was so surprised since they are typically freakishly clean...probably was a crack in the wall or they recently sprayed and they came out to play. Either way, it was really crazy and gross, especially for a nice and expensive restaurant in the West Village. Especially upsetting as I had visitors in town and we were having a fun night out that was quickly ruined by this situation. Safe to say I will never be returning, which is too bad because the restaurant is beautiful and the food we had was pretty good.

Yelp
Saint Theo's is a restaurant that I had heard of last year on social media. I hate to say for me it doesn't live up to the hype. The food was good albeit for the price it felt lacking. The ambiance is upscale and the interior has a feeling of old New York which I loved. However, my favorite takeaway from a restaurant should not be the interior. The service was great and she was kind enough to inform us that they are no longer open for lunch even though the website says it's available. My chicken milanese was great but in an area like the West Village where competition is fierce for dining especially Italian dining it doesn't quite meet the bar. I also would have liked the ability to add a starch as a side other than a pasta perhaps a fingerling potato, mashed potato, or fries? I hope they improve.
google avatar

Jordan W.

Yelp
This spot is awesome. Everyone there is good looking, including me. The food was great, we didn't drink, the service was fast. Really cool spot that I could I'll come back to some day. Very vibey

Charisse S.

Yelp
Considering how many great Italian spots are in the west village, I consider this spot a huge let down. Don't get me wrong--it's a beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, but the quality would have to come up significantly to justify those prices. The food was fine-- we split a Margarita pizza and arugula salad. It wasn't anything to write home about. The prices on the drink menu were extortionate, so I passed on trying anything. I can't say I won't return, but it certainly won't be anytime time soon. It could be sooner if they have a happy hour.

Yelp
Super cute spot for a date night and tasty Italian food. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday night for dinner after snagging a last minute reservation. The restaurant rapidly filled up after we were seated and the staff were quick and efficient with turning over tables. They're pretty strict on the table time limit and required the entire food order to be placed at the same time. I really wanted to try the famous ricotta gomiti but were disappointed to find out that it was only being offered on mondays and tuesdays due to it being a seasonal dish. We started off with super soft bread with a crispy shell, sardines, and beef carpaccio. The sardines were absolutely delicious; from texture to flavor to presentation - I loved everything about it. For our mains we had the pesto pasta and bass, both also delicious; the tomato sauce that engulfed the tender bass was to die for. We finished our dinner with the olive oil cake. It doesn't look too pretty but it was quite tasty. The center of the cake is really soft and moist but it got a little dry towards the edges. Maybe not baking it in the unique pan shape might improve the texture throughout the slice. Overall decent spot for Italian; the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and the food is also up to par.

Yelp
This place used to be great. As time has passed the quality of service has disintegrated. Unfortunately the same has happened with the quality of the food.. used to be phenomenal and has become bland and strangely as if they are trying to cut costs by being cheap with key ingredients (minimal clams or broccoli rabe in pasta). What's more, the majority of the serving staff is untrained or inexperienced in the fare they are serving. I really hope they turn it around before they lose all credibility and clientele.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
The service here is excellent, only second to the food. I highly suggest the meatballs, calamari, and caesar salad to start. The fussili pasta is delicious and the right amount of spice. It's also BYOB as well, so that is so nice or you can get cocktails from the bar.
google avatar

Jeny K.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience here! The hostess was very accommodating as I changed the size of my reservation last minute. The ambiance at this place is 10/10! Definitely would say this is a good date spot! We ordered the tuna crudo, straciatella, alla nerano, and pesto pasta. My personal favorites were the appetizers. Would I come back again? Yeah

Yelp
I had a fantastic experience here. I came here for my birthday dinner. I was able to get a 9:30 pm reservation about 1.5 weeks before my birthday. Funny enough, 3 other people seemed to also be celebrating their birthday that night too. The vibes and ambiance are everything. The restaurant is dimly lit and the music is pretty loud - so don't expect to have intimate or deep conversations. I was surprised by how busy and packed the restaurant was on a Tuesday night. But I was just grateful to have gotten a reservation. I got an Aperol Spritz and the Bolognese. Both were fabulous and I didn't expect the Aperol Spritz to be as big as it was! The bread that comes for the table was also great and my friends and I loved the zucchini mix it came with. Also: there's only 2 single stall bathrooms. So expect to wait in a line.

Yelp
Very cozy yet upscale spot in prime West Village. The hype around Saint Theo's lies with their famous ricotta and chili oil pasta, which is only available on Mondays and Tuesdays, FYI! You will not find it on any menu as it is considered a "special" both nights. My friend and I came here on a Tuesday at 6:30pm, and the place was packed! I definitely recommend getting a reservation vs. trying to walk in, especially on the ricotta nights. Service felt a bit like they were rushing us at first- the second our glass of wine came he asked if we were ready to order food before we had even taken a sip- but it improved over the course of the meal. Our waiter recommended we start with the cicchetti section, which is basically a variety of breaded balls of various fillings. We started with the polpette as an appetizer, and each cicchetti comes with 3 balls. The polpette was the closest version to a meatball listed in this section, and it was honestly one of the best bites of food I've ever had. WOW! Highly recommend. They also provided us complimentary pickles/cucumbers which were such a delight. Now, to the main star- the ricotta pasta. The chili oil is very spicy, but it comes in a carafe on the side, so you can make your pasta as spicy or not spicy as you would like. I've seen other reviews bash the pasta as an adult Mac n cheese (which it is), but what's wrong with that? It definitely wasn't the best pasta I've had in the city, but it's a great comfort food menu item. I would get it again shared between 2 people with a different main so I can try other things on the menu. Overall, I will be back!

Yelp
It's embarrassing how bad this place is. We had a reservation on a Friday night. Forty minutes later, we still hadn't been seated. They claimed the table just wouldn't get up and they had no other table for four in the restaurant. I ended up having to leave after 45 minutes of not being seated. Do not go here.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner, and the ambience was perfect for a celebratory night. It's a very cute and intimate restaurant, we sat up at the bar and had excellent service. We started with cod croquettes which were my favorite part of the entire meal. They were so crispy on the outside and so creamy and flavorful on the inside. I highly recommend ordering these if you come to saint theo's. For our meal we had a pasta, Bolognese, and a grilled fish. Both were tasty. Since it was my birthday, this waitress was nice enough to bring out a birthday dessert with a candle. I also happened to have luggage with me while I was dining and the restaurant staff was very nice to give me a formal luggage tag and hold the bag safely during my meal. This was recommended to me and my boyfriend from a local, so they certainly know what they're talking about!

Yelp
Foods good, drinks good, good ambience. I'm not sure why making a reservation is difficult to be honest. Most people in the restaurant are well dressed. Ricotta pasta has a nice side sauce but otherwise didn't taste that special to me. I really like the roasted oysters that came with a special broth. The chocolate cake which really was some cake crumbs and whipped cream was very light and delicious. Overall, it's a fine and nice place to be with good food

Yelp
$30 for a plain, nothing special, espresso martini- I live in the neighborhood. I am use to pricey, but often justified speciality cocktails or "extra" ambience ...but this was just silly. Will not be back.

Yelp
Saint Theo's is a new restaurant that opened a few months ago and it definitely hit their expectation! It is also a sister restaurant of American Bar. It was really hard to get a reservation but we got lucky (on Resy by setting up notifications). Love the ambiance and the service was spot on. They provide complimentary focaccia which was nice. Never say no to free bread ha! Things I ordered: - T U N A C R U D O: pistachio, castelvetrano olives, preserved lemon - R O M A I N E: burrata, feta, red onion, garlic croutons - SUNGOLD T O M A T O: spaghettini with olive oil and basil (simple dish) - R I C O T T A: gomiti with calabrian chili oil (must get) - B R A N Z I N O: salsa verde, mint, basil - C H O C O L A T E: cake with vanilla ice cream I'd come back again and try the other pasta dishes and appetizers.

Yelp
They had me at complimentary focaccia. Snazzy Spashy shades of Santina's but lusher. Very welcoming service. Ate: Focaccia with zucchini and mint(gratis) Montecito codfish Small branzino Broccolini Total: $66 plus tax and tip The focaccia is fab soft with onions baked in. The cod amazing !!! The branzino was nicely crisped and tasty broccolini. This along with the incredible Carne Mare and Don Angies are at the tippy top of my Italian hit parade.

Yelp
This place is gorgeous! Very chic, lively vibe, but not crazy crowded for brunch. I sat at the bar waiting for my girlfriends & had a tequila cocktail, I can't remember the name bc I ended up having like 3 lol. We had the mezzaluna app & the lemon pasta. Staff was super nice too! Definitely recommend & will be back!

Yelp
Beautiful new Italian restaurant with Chef Ashley Rath, who worked the kitchen at The Grill and Santina and more recently LaLou, so you already know the food is going to be top notch. And it was - starting with the amazing fluffy, warm focaccia, followed by great starters and all the pasta. I really wanted to order the Caviar with Burrata but it was $125, so we opted instead for a great Tuna Crudo ($26) and Beef Carpaccio ($26). For pasta, definitely try the "Cherry Tomato" ($22), a simple but perfect spaghettini with olive oil and basil. The "Ricotta" ($29) is also a good choice - a cheesy plate of gomiti, which comes a decanter of calabrian chili oil on the side that you can apply if you want some kick. I definitely want to return for some "Cicchetti", the section of small snacks, especially the Tramezzino and the Mozzarella en Carozza, but it all sounds good.

Yelp
I wanna give this restaurant 5 stars because my pasta dish was so good but I can't because the prices are extremely overpriced. I came here for dinner by myself, I think the waiter assumed I was waiting for someone to join me because he took 10 minutes to come to my table and greet me. He apologized after though. They give you complimentary bread and cucumbers. The bread is soooo fluffy and delicious. 10/10. Cucumbers are an interesting choice...but they were fine. I mostly used the oil in the cucumbers to dip my bread in because they didn't give you an butter with it. I had 2 glasses of white wine. I had one of the cheapest glasses of wine on the menu and each glass was still $20...not a hefty pour either. Extremely overpriced. I got the mista salad which was a good salad but again, extremely overpriced especially for the size. And lastly I got the ricotta pasta...which was a show stopper. I've heard mixed reviews about it but honestly I am a huge fan. It was phenomenal. I am not the best with spicy foods so I would pour a little less chili oil on mine next time. If I were to come back I would come just for that pasta and leave. Pros: pasta, complimentary bread, & inside aesthetic Cons: overpriced food & drink

Yelp
So the vibe is pretty great. I really love the romantic/retro vibe of the restaurant. The only thing I wish is that there were more diversity in their pastas. We only had a few (I think 5) to choose from. Their bread is really good to start off with. We had their stracciatella which is like burrata to start off with too. Probably should've done something else since the bread and olive oil was filling enough. The pesto pasta was okay- I really hated how they put full basil leaves in the pasta with the stems and all. It really did nothing and had to put it aside since they were dried leaves. Probably would've been better as a garnish. The ricotta pasta they had which was one of their specials and not on the menu was pretty good. It came with a chili oil which was a bit too spicy for us. Lastly, the cherry tomato spaghetti was yummy. My friend definitely loved it. Next time I come here I'll probably order this as well. It's definitely worth checking out. The vibe is great!

Yelp
Saint Theo's is a Tik Tok sensation that has now become hard to get into. Having actually snagged a reservation we had to try it. All and all it wasn't that bad. The food was pretty good, the cocktails are creative, the decor is great, the service is very good and the vibe is awesome. If you want a hip downtown vibe, this is your place. My advice, go for a drink at the bar and then walk over to Don Angie's for dinner (of course it is almost impossible to get a reservation at Don Angie's, but at least its worth it).

Yelp
Very hip spot. We did a late dinner on a Friday night and it was PACKED. Don't expect to have any serious conversations here. The ambiance is amazing tho, feels very high end. The Ricotta Pasta was great, essentially a fancy Mac and cheese. Espresso martinis were pretty good. Wouldn't come here every night, but it's good for a night out.

Yelp
Had a great time for Saturday brunch! The food was very fresh, delicious and came out promptly. Service was welcoming, attentive and professional. The special cocktail was phenomenal, and the chicory salad was a great option.

Yelp
Food was good and ambiance was very cozy and romantic, but we saw a mouse scurrying across the floor. When we reported it to both the hostess and our waiter, they did not care. In fact, the waiter said that happens a lot in the summer.

Yelp
I love American Bar but Saint Theo's is my sexy little mistress that I just can't stay away from. I always have the time of my life when I'm there and it doesn't hurt that the food and drinks are exceptional. Yeah, it's probably a little overpriced, but it's the west village and you were lucky to get a res so get over it and enjoy. I've tried mostly everything on the menu but a few standouts: Polpette: delicious and well worth the money Arugula salad: very good and large but very simple (basically just arugula) for $22 Delicata squash: phenomenal. Was a hit all around Tuna crudo: phenomenal - great, balanced flavors Beef carpaccio: very, very good Cherry tomato pasta: good, but skippable Ricotta: to die for. Basically the best grown up Mac and cheese you'll ever have. The vibe is unmatched. They did not spare a single detail with the decor, art, lighting, etc. Truly one of my favorite places to dine and have drinks in New York. Even the house bread and vegetables are fantastic. They have an expansive cocktail and wine list but they also make a fantastic espresso martini (off menu). Will be back. Adore saint theos

Yelp
What a disappointment. They suddenly closed abruptly Wednesday Nov 24th due to covid outbreak. We were sad as we finally got a resi but the business ethics and response has left me feeling like maybe they don't deserve all the hype/business from locals. They cancelled the resi 5 min before. Bummer but safety is a concern and I get that. Later in the week they wrote they were back open, I messaged them letting them know how sad I was in hopes they would work with me to get a resi and instead asked my opinion on the situation, which I gave. I also suggested utilizing the HUGE outdoor dining area so people could feel more safe as we should try adapting to this new norm. There response "you're not welcomed here" - don't worry Saint Theo's I don't feel welcomed and will take my money else where.

Yelp
Finally made it to Saint Theo's for a birthday dinner and it was certainly a very good experience. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and taken to our table. Once we were seated I felt that the seats were a little too close for comfort (especially during covid). Onto the drinks! I had a delicious tequila based cocktail called "The Tadzio". It was light and refreshing with the muddled strawberries. My husband had the "Death in Venice" which was my personal favorite as a mezcal lover. As for the appetizers - the complimentary bread is 10/10 delicious. It's got a pretzel-esque flavor while also sharing the light airy nature of focaccia bread. My favorite appetizer was the tuna crudo - the tuna pieces were meaty and the lemon ribbons on top take this dish over the top. We also got the mushrooms and squash. Both of which were average, not something I would order again. For our main course we got the Ricotta pasta having heard all the rave reviews about this dish. Unfortunately it kind of fell flat for me. It needed a lot of the Calabrian chili oil to add more flavor and depth of texture. Dessert was delicious, we ordered a crumbled chocolate cake with cream! Overall, a good experience. Would recommend the appetizers highly.

Yelp
This was the hotspot to go to for bit, I am just unclear why... while it's gorgeous inside and in the great area. The only thing I can say about the food is underwhelming. It wasn't particularly bad, it just wasn't good either. We had the meatballs, fried mozzarella, scallops, the ricotta pasta, and tuna crudo. Everything was just ok, it was finely seasoned if not a bit under seasoned... Scallops weren't over cooked, they weren't properly seared either though. The red sauce was fine, it tasted equivalent to a quality jar sauce.... For the price point, it felt really underwhelming and we were disappointed. Haven't been back.. likely won't!

Yelp
Cool spot with gorgeous interior. Service was solid. When it came to the food it was good not great, I think there are other Italian/pasta options out there. Overall it was a good experience and the ambience is excellent.

Yelp
Loved the vibe and ambiance of this cute restaurant in the west village. We went for drinks and apps and I was pleasantly surprised. Great spot for a date or a dinner with friends.
