"Longtime Tapas spot Sala One Nine has closed after 15 years. The restaurant made the announcement on Instagram, but noted that there are hopes the restaurant will return in the future." - Eater Staff

"The barrels and signs in gothic font at Sala One Nine suggest a Medieval Spain exhibit in a children’s museum, and we’re fine with that. This place is shockingly large, romantically-lit, and realistically cavernous. It’s also a little more formal than some of your other tapas options - they have fancy meat platters, a long wine list, and servers who can help you figure out your order. We recommend this place for drinks and tapas after work in Flatiron, a date, or a group meal where people feel comfortable spending a bit." - Hannah Albertine

Highly recommended. This is a wonderful Spanish tapas restaurant with a balance of bar dining and table service. There's actually two decent sized bars (front and back) plus high top tables and standard seating. The food was fresh but also came out quickly, and all the dishes were excellent. Best of all, the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. We'll be returning.

Interesting place. Food was good, but not great. What it lacked culinary, it made up with in atmosphere, decor, and amazing white Sangria. The restaurant is loud during peak eating hours, so not the best place for a first date, but definitely a good place to meet friends you're already comfortable with

Now this is what we call authentic Spanish food! A beautifully set restaurant with amazing service, incredible food and great wine list! Carlos our waiter was turning this visit into a holistic experience! We started with the scallops which were cooked by perfection, followed by grilled artichokes with bacon. Followed by Ibérica Jambon with Manchego cheese and pork cheeks that are melting in your mouth like butter. All that accompanied with a beautiful 2014 SVMMA VARIETALIS. We were two adults with 2 kids (11 & 13) who asked me this morning if we could go back there tomorrow as their hangar steaks are awesome and amazing portion! Keep on going this way, you make a lot of people happy !

The place itself is a very nice ...kind of vintage a very nice enjoyable ambiance. The service was on point, food was good but i had better paella, it was also small for 2 people as it is the minimum require to order it.sangria was ok, it can be improved. Still for spanish food not a bad place.

Perfect spot in flatiron for some cava/wine with delightful tapas. Fried goat cheese, Serrano ham croquettes, pan con tomate, empanadas are light and flaky, gambas al ajillo, calamari, and octopus are our favorites. If really hungry we had the paella once and enjoyed it, but normally don’t order it.

Loved the ambiance, high energy vibes and the food was great! The host/greeter was great, our waitress was nice but seemed too busy to ask if we wanted another drink or how everything was.

Go for happy hour and you won’t be disappointed. Good portions and extensive wine selection.
