"Note: Salvo's is a Bed-Stuy-based pop-up—the map address does not indicate exact physical location. If you live in Bed-Stuy, Bushwick, or Ridgewood, congratulations—you can now DM a guy for an Italian sandwich, which will then be delivered to your home via moped. Salvo’s feels like an operation that could only exist in Brooklyn, and although the $16-$18 sandwiches are smaller than the ones you’ll find at Faicco’s or Defonte’s, the excitement of hearing a moped arrive outside during an otherwise normal workday is worth it at least once. Keep an eye on Salvo’s Instagram for sandwich drops: offerings change weekly, but can involve things like mortadella, burrata, red pepper mayo and pistachio pesto. They also offer occasional lasagna pick-ups, and dinner pop-ups. If you don’t live in Bed-Stuy, Bushwick, or Ridgewood, choose a park between those areas on a warm day, for a picnic involving a sandwich and a guy on a moped." - Willa Moore

"Yes, there are dozens of pizzerias with the name Sal plastered on the front, but this one is Bushwick’s greatest slice shop, and the sausage roll ain’t shabby, either. The corner storefront is spacious with views of the neighborhood, and the Sicilian is the best option — a perfect square, darker than most, crisp of crust with thick rivulets of perky sauce, and altogether excellent." - Robert Sietsema

"This antediluvian Bushwick pizzeria that resides above the DeKalb stop on the L dates back to the days when this was an Italian neighborhood and its sausage roll was fabled. In terms of pizza, go for the Sicilian slice. It's thick and square and brown as a beetle, with little rivulets of sauce and cheese and a generous sprinkling of dried Romano for extra saltiness and flavor. It's worth traveling from another borough to try!" - Robert Sietsema

Yelp
my go to for neighborhood pizza. quick service, good taste and staff is great too. i haven't tried their pastas

Ruwan J.

Yelp
decent basic pizza served at this corner pizzeria. clean interior with vintage pizza shop vibes from the 80s--Formica tables plus a worn-out payphone on the wall! variety of pies and calzone / rolls on display. ordered a regular slice--heated up and served hot and crispy...cheese dominates on the thin-ish crust but not much sauce flavor though. service is friendly and fast. very much a neighborhood spot filled with residents and nostalgia than pizza of my dreams.

Jia-Lian L.

Yelp
The pizza here always smells so good when I pass by. It has become my go to pizza in the Bushwick Ridgewood area. Decent price, good sauce, good cheese and has a good slice even when it's not as fresh.

Yelp
Great Pizza, fast service, can't go wrong overall, I've been going there over a decade and a half, I've tried pizza almost all over the 5 boroughs still like the taste of Sal's Pizza on Dekalb /Wyckoff Ave.Friday night Hawaiian night ,w/a side of Lasagna

Gee A.

Yelp
It's obvious the people that live in the neighborhood don't know about good pizza. This is by far the worst pizzeria in Bushwick and Ridgewood no flavor at all...

Diane C.

Yelp
Great spot for pizza! I got 2 plain slices for about $6, and they were amazing! Make sure to bring cash because they charge 75 cents if you use credit card for anything under $10. The place is also pretty spacious with lots of tables. Highly recommend!

Megan H.

Yelp
Quick service, great pizza ($3/slice) and garlic knots (4 for $2). Small eating area, but clean and a classic nyc pizza shop vibe. Great for a late night bite to eat.

Teresa K.

Yelp
If you order pizzas by pies this place is hands down one of the best spots in Ridgewood because sometimes cold pizza slices reheated (even in the oven) is never the same! If I'm looking for a good cheat day meal, my go to order is a pepperoni pie with extra cheese. The price is reasonable and it has so far never been a let down. If you're in the mood for something ooey, gooey, and cheesey then definitely opt for the extra cheese (an additional cost). They also do delivery which never takes too long but I did notice that sometimes they forget to provide spices in the individual packages that they do offer (oregano, garlic, red peper flakes, and etc). That being said, no spices? No problem! The pizza is still flavorful by itself and they always provide napkins and plates. Their service is normally very good and the guys who work there are very friendly as well. I have yet to try their pasta dishes but I do intend to do so in the future. Not looking to buy a pie? That's ok as well, their slices are all presented in front of you, just pick one and they'll reheat it for you! Don't forget to try their pepperoni pinwheels, garlic knots, and grandma slices!

Yelp
The Grandma Slice is really great. The regular slices are pretty good too, but I strongly recommend the Grandma slice.

Chris T.

Yelp
I've visited there once after Covid 19 hit NYC. The owner doesn't aware about the importance of sanitation. Better be careful. I'm not sure what's happening in the back.

Nikki R.

Yelp
My chicken broccoli pizza was good. The chicken was dried out. If not for that, it would have been a preference slice. My sister, however, really enjoyed her grandma's slice. The garlic knots were definitely the saving grace. Oh, they also charge you 75 cents for using a credit/debit card. I'm not sure if it's just 75 cents all the time or only if it's under $10 for your order. Food is made quickly too. We were there for about a half hour sitting down to eat. Customers that came in waited no more than 3 minutes tops so it's refreshing to see food get served right away while you're on a time crunch.

Josh B.

Yelp
The pizza itself gets 4.5 stars. The cheese explosion of the plain and the thoughtful spicing and compelling bread of the Grandma slice would be enhanced by just a tiny improvement in tomato ratio. I'm rounding up given the impeccable value and service.

Alex R.

Yelp
super solid. honestly surprised i hadn't tried it earlier. pizza has a great flavor and the garlic knots are a good size (think tee ball) and fluffy with a well textured dough rind. wish i got marinara with my sauce then i woulda gone bonkerss. instead i just went . anyways 5 stars check it out, best pizza in bushwick.

Bennie S.

Yelp
Oh my God, Sal's Pizzeria was excellent. It's kind of the place to go in this neighborhood. Every thing we got was amazing and the menu itself was to die for. I became good friends with the staff, who are all terrific and super pleasant. You can't beat that.

Migdalia O.

Yelp
I like the pizza her but went yesterday and the floor was dirty. Did you forget that we have a virus and is is necessary to mop with Clorox.

FakeFoodBabyNY C.

Yelp
#I've been craving spaghetti with meatballs and haven't had stuff like this in a while because I'm trying to eat healthy like Tom Brady. So after one drunk day drinking day, I came here and ordered it. They asked me if I wanted cheese on it. Okay. Came with buttery Garlic Knots. This was definitely not TB12 approved, but did taste good. $7

Stina K.

Yelp
Pizza and garlic twists are on point but don't ask for a meatball hero. The "meat" ball was 75% breading filler, gross and the hero bread wasn't very good either had sesame seeds. Stick to pizza and twists only

Suraj P.

Yelp
The best old school pie and slice in Brooklyn. Hands down. It's been legit since the 80's, and it's a Bushwick treasure. The garlic knots are awesome, and the Sauce is damn good.

Scott Y.

Yelp
Best garlic knots in town. Great window seats. Right across from the post office, if you feel like shipping a perfect slice to some pizza friends in less fortunate pizza areas in the world.

Ciara O.

Yelp
Pizza was good but simple. Crispy crust Good cheese Good price. I wish the crust was thicker tho. Besides that it was yummy

Annie P.

Yelp
My favorote pizza place :-) I love me some grandma slices garlic bread and those pepperoni pinwheel are ssssooo good!!!

Padmanie R.

Yelp
Omg this place been around since forever before I was born. The pizza is freaking awesome. If you're ever in Bushwick this is a must go.

Justin A.

Yelp
Love this place! Plain slice, chicken broccoli, lasagna with garlic knots all top notch Some real New York pizza goodness

Dee V.

Yelp
This Pizzeria has the best pizza I don't know what they put in it it's Pizza crack lol it's awesome you just get addicted

Alisha V.

Yelp
Sals pizza has been around since I was a kid well over 15 years. I grew up eating this pizza as my dad hated fast food chains and only ever bought from here. Fast forward to now, I am in my 20's and me and my son get pizza every Friday. I feel like because we have a lot of fancy pants pizzerias around lately (artichoke, union pizza works, sauce and soda) ppl forgot what a good New York slice is suppose to taste like. This place is in no way over priced. A large pie is 16-18 bucks way cheaper and way bigger portions than anywhere u could go. I have also tried the other options (lasagna, ziti) and everything is oh so good. I feel like this establishment didn't make its loyal fan base off of decor as it literally looks identical to when I was younger. Simply good customer service, great prices and good authentic nyc pizza. The nostalgic delicious pizza I enjoy with my son like my dad did with me. I rarely eat inside there but the decor isn't why I came and it won't be why I keep going. So if ur low on change and want a good meal, or got a party to fill. Get sals. Only authentic new Yorkers will understand.

Oe A.

Yelp
Yummy pizza, friendly owners, employees. No fuzz :) garlic knots are soooo good. Can't go wrong with this local pizza place.

Liss C.

Yelp
Mmmm. This is my hood pizza and I have taken it for granted for a long time. My friend from out of town and I recently got a pie to go. She took a photo of it and it was actually was a quintessentially NY delicious-looking pizza. Plus, it's cheap (they just raised prices from $1.75 a slice to $2 - inflation!) and it's really quick. The Latin guys who work the counter are really nice and will call you Miss, presumably if you are a female. ;) I would take this pizza over about 90% of NYC's pizza. The pizza is just simple deliciousness, not too greasy. BK in da house! (ok, i'm retarded...)

Ciara R.

Yelp
The pizza is delicious have been going to this place for years now and the pizza quality has never changed would definitely recommend.

Danny G.

Yelp
I come here often and they have very good pizza and very good prices. The staff is very friendly and you get your order very fast. Definitely recommend the place for a quick bite.

Sasha S.

Yelp
Grew up on this pizza and it is just as good as it was in the 80's. Garlic knots on point.

Michelle A.

Yelp
Friendly service and consistantly decent pizza makes for a good slice at the end of the subway ride home. Their prices are fair, the crust crispy, toppings plentiful, and cheese gooey enough to please. Better yet, the garlic knots are perfectly drenched in buttery-garlic goodness!

Nirk Q.

Yelp
great hawaiian! Be sure to add condiments, garlic salt chili flakes if you get down for that kinda stuff.

Emily D.

Yelp
Nothing fancy, just good pizza and good prices. My faves are the Sicilian Slice and Knish. Yum!!

R B.

Yelp
We love going to Sal's Pizzeria. The pizza is a perfect NY slice. The people that work there are super friendly and helpful. It's a great place to stop when you get off the Dekalb L stop. Seriously, great!

Benmar B.

Yelp
The guys in front are not welcoming, zero customers service, untidy, backbiting their customers in their native language...

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Best non-fancy plain slice of pizza in NYC! Every time I am visitng family in this area we stop in for a slice or two or a whole pie to take home! My fiance loves the baked ziti as well. It is right off the L train on Dekalb. It's just a perfect mom and pop pizza shop, no frills, no "brick oven", just good old pizza!

Bethy A.

Yelp
If you're looking for a solid pizza slice, this is the place to go to. There's nothing fancy about this place, but the customer service is efficient and the pizza tastes great. I grab a slice to go on a weekly basis.

Yomaira H.

Yelp
The pizza here is okay but I prefer the beef patty with cheese. The service is good, the small Hispanic guy who is almost always in the counter is very friendly and respectful.

Diana R.

Yelp
freaking good pizza I could eat the whole pie if they let me everything soooo good awesome

Ryan H.

Yelp
Perfect for a quick slice or pie! It's just a basic, delicious New York neighborhood pizza joint and they do it right. The workers are super friendly as well. Stoked to have this place walking distance to me.

Morgen B.

Yelp
Best pizza on Wyckoff, in my opinion. I was honestly surprised by how good it is. It's about $2.00-$2.25 for a slice, but it's worth it.

Shane D.

Yelp
Cheap, mediocre, convenient pizza is sometimes exactly what you need. That's all this place is: nothing more, nothing less.

Johnny D.

Yelp
Best place for a quick slice, love the staff, always hook me up with the marinara sauce I love so much. Keep it up guys! Great work!

Tom T.

Yelp
Great late night spot near Dekalb. Quick and decent food.

Dudeman S.

Yelp
Friendly service, great prices, pretty quick and timely, and great tasting pizza. Pretty standard for most Brooklyn pizzerias.

Eduard O.

Yelp
Fast and simple. No frills. Consistent. The garlic knots are good. And don't overlook the heroes. The chicken parm is solid.

G F.

Yelp
This place has been in existence for over 30yrs. The pizza is quite good, and Sal was the last in the community to raise prices. I don't expect much from pizza places except honest to good pizza and Sal has it.

Lorraine L.

Yelp
I use to live right across the street (DeKalb Ave) from Sal's Pizzeria as a FOB kid in Brooklyn. I don't think I was too familiar with pizza back then, so this was decent from what I can remember. Sometimes I go back to this place for nostalgia's sake.

Melanie C.

Yelp
like paul q said, it's close to our house, 2 bux for a slice, and chile pepper shakers and garlic salt shakers on the counter. i normally "hate" pizza but i actually didn't mind sal's so much. must be the thin crust.

adrienne n.

Yelp
i'm mid-slice and this is reeeally good and really convenient. i wish it were open later because i usually crave pizza past midnight
