Delicious dinner spot in Lake Placid. It's a fairly small menu so check ahead of time if you'd be interested. The dishes are great and portions are made for two. The specials change often, but the swordfish and veal were good and cooked perfectly.

We had our wedding anniversary dinner at the Salt of the Earth Bistro and it was delightful Sunday evening. We had early reservations at 5 pm and the server Mark was fantastic as well as the other servers who pitched in. I had the special Veal Chops with a risotto that was cooked perfectly and paired well with the sauces. My husband had the Gnocchi special with mushroom sauce and that was also fantastic. The gnocchi was light and fluffy and the sauce was fragrant and heavenly. Another delight was Lemon Ice Box cake that had just the right amount of tartness and sweetness. Thanks to the chef who added the "Happy Anniversary" icing on the plate. We had a great time and would highly recommend dinner here.

Great restaurant and amazing food. Very creative menu and everything was delicious. We tried the cream of mushroom soup which was the best and most flavorful I have ever tried. Next we shared the hashweh and then I enjoyed the steak entree. Highly recommend. And the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Atmosphere was cozy and casual.

Outstanding experience! My husband and I travelled to Lake Placid from Ottawa, ON for our respective 30th birthdays and this was the perfect restaurant to treat ourselves to for it. My husband had what he has now labeled “the best steak of his life”, and I had the gnocchi of the day which was done in a garlic, goat cheese and roasted pepper sauce. The atmosphere was cozy but chic, and all of the art was extremely cool and unique. Our server was kind, attentive and welcoming.

Wonderful dinner with a lovely atmosphere and excellent service! The mushroom soup hit the spot, and the mains were very generous. Loved the flavour profile of the food, with a very adventurous Asian twist!

Outstanding dinner at Salt of the Earth - we received a warm welcome, great service, and enjoyed delicious food. Highly recommend the hashweh  appetizer and the duck entree. The swordfish special was fabulous, as was the funfetti cake dessert.

What a delightful evening. The decor was quirky and fun. We kept looking and pointing out things around the room. The service was excellent, and the food was such a delight - interesting flavors and combinations, and many new discoveries. When we come back to the area, we are going to make a point of dining here again. It was a highlight of the vacation.

So you’re coming to Lake Placid? Call and make a reservation. We went during a slow season but word on the street is it gets very busy during summer months. Chef owned, each bite of our meal was packed with flavor, obviously attention to detail was highest priority. Hands down the gnocchi was THE BEST I’ve ever had. Apparently the exact menu changes with seasons but ours was mushroom and goat cheese heavy and out of this world. Menu is small but even the dippings for the bread are divine. If you’re looking for a break from pub fare, this is your local gem.
