Best Bakeries Around Boston | Eater Boston

"Established in 2022, Salt is a newer entry to the Boston area’s bakery scene. Still, chef and owner Thiago Silva has amassed a fervent fan base over the top-notch quality he embeds in every baguette, bon bon, cake slice, and baked good across the menu. Silva combines his Brazilian roots with his French pastry training to great effect, and the care and talent shine through everything from the canelés to the pão de queijo." - Katie Draisen

The Best Restaurants in Newton | Eater Boston

"At Salt, Brazilian-born, French-trained chef-owner Thiago Silva offers a range of classic laminated pastries, hand-painted Valrhona chocolate bonbons, and delicate fruit tarts. Silva also pulls from his Brazilian roots with snacks like pan de quijo, or small Brazilian cheese rolls. Don’t miss the decadent Rocher eclair, homemade focaccia, and thick, ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookies. Salt has limited indoor banquette seating and additional outdoor tables." - Carolyn Grillo

One of the best bakery near Boston. Every piece has its own unique style and trend. Not only taste, but also appearance of each pastries provides better experience to customers. Although there is not much of available seats in the store, I rarely find hard to find a seat. All staff are kind and helpful. They also make great latte and I highly recommend them. I don't see any downside of this place. If you are nearby this place, definitely check this place out and you will not regret at all.

Very nice cafe and patisserie, in a great location in Newton Center. Elegant interiors, comfortable seating (limited capacity) pleasant music and atmosphere, clean restroom. Luxurious pastries, good coffee, good service. Very good overall 👌

Google
If you’re looking for good quality and nice variety of pastries, I recommend this place. I’ve tried tiramisu, berry twist, lemon tart, chive bacon scone and caprese sandwich. Sweet pastry wise, tiramisu was the best and savory pastry wise, caprese sandwich was the best. In fact, I expected the chive bacon scone to be the best, but it was just stale. I usually don’t enjoy coffee with acidity taste, but their iced coffee was well balanced. The cafe is nice and clean, but the seats are quite limited. Overall, it was a pleasant place to visit.

Google
Wonderful selection of pastries, croissants and cakes right in the center of Newton. Stumbled upon this place by accident on a bike ride and forced my partner to try it. It is on the expensive side, but MAN those pastries were good! Tried an eclaire that tasted like an elevated Kinder Bueno and a n absolutely great black forest cake. Coffee was great, too. I 'm sure I'm gonna come back for more!

Google
Incredible croissants. We got the spinach and artichoke croissant, chocolate croissant and a flat white. The spinach and artichoke croissant was crispy with the gooey cheese filling which had caramelized at the ends. Think of it as the spinach and artichoke dip envelopes in a soft and crispy layered croissant. Chocolate croissant was great as well, though I have not had anything like the spinach one before so I may be biased. We will definitely be back for more.

Google
Stopped in with my son for a quick bite. The croissant is the best one I have ever had. Anywhere. My son enjoyed the coffee and we took a few chocolate chip cookies home with us. In addition, the staff was very friendly. We will definitely be coming back.

Google
Such friendly staff who work here. Hands down BEST cinnamon roll I have ever had in my life and I’m very picky about my cinnamon rolls. They only make them on Friday and Saturday, so make sure you go then! Also great baristas. Don’t let the delicious pastries fool you, they make fantastic espresso beverages, too!

Google
Decided to get some pastry and coffee after a wonderful pizza lunch at Newton Center. The shop is very modern and comfortable with limited indoor sittings. There are outdoor seats and tables if weather permits. Pastries and sweets are pricey but excellent. I had an Americano with a Rocher Eclair. What a wonderful finisher to my lunch. Excellent service, too.

Yelp
Yum! We've been to Salt for pastries, but today we went for lunch. I had the FOCCACIA BURRATA PESTO & HEIRLOOM TOMATOES sandwich, which was amazing. My friend had the salmon on everything croissant which was just OK. The yuzu seltzers were good too. And the chocolate chip cookie was delish.

Yelp
Salt Patisserie opened during the pandemic in Newton Center. The first time I passed by late one morning, it had quite a few people inside, so I skipped it and got myself a donut elsewhere instead. Salt has two person tables set up both inside and outside, and their layout is welcoming to those on arriving on wheels. A bathroom is available for your convenience and the staff here were friendly and helpful enough. I left with a box filled with a number of yummy treats. Though a French leaning bakery, they had cheese bread! The sort of cheesy goodness that you might accidentally consume in uncounted numbers at a Brazilian bbq. I found it wise to give everything a nice brief toasting at home to enjoy them at their best. The kouign amann ($4.50) came as quarters of a larger round, sweetly coated on top. The pain au raisin ($5.50) were made with croissant dough as well. The cinnamon rolls were light on the cinnamon but tender and delicious. Everything was very good, in fact, and quite enjoyable. My second visit proved similar an experience. We warmed up the spiced pear loaf ($6) a tad and found it wonderfully fruity, sweet, and nutty a concoction set on a tender dough base encrusted with sugar crystals. Their chocolate croissant ($5) was flaky with two chocolate batons tucked in the center. Of their two pastries with ham (croque monsieur ($11), ham and cheese croissant ($6)) I find myself leaning towards the first, as the additional bits helped to tame the saltiness somewhat. But I enjoyed even more their spinach and artichoke croissant ($6). (2023 visits)

Yelp
Really loved the pastries here! I got a hot cross bun and canele. Lots of options, the croissant looked very nice. Also got a cappuccino that tasted very good and not too milky. Only downside is the small size of the shop, there were no seats left so we had to take them to go and eat them later,

Yelp
Decided to stop by on a whim and got a plain croissant and the Romeo and Juliet, which was a glazed cheese danish with guava jam inside. It's pretty sweet and very flavorful, but the guava and cheese balance each other out nicely! The croissant isn't the most buttery, but has significant volume (ie not flat) and is soft on the inside. The counter staff was super helpful and friendly, would definitely recommend this spot for a quick treat in Newton.

Yelp
If there is one thing I could change, it would be to make SALT not a 30 minute drive away. Then again, if it were closer I might be in every day, which wouldn't be *great* for my wallet or waistline. That is to say, SALT is absolutely fantastic! The baked goods, coffees, bonbons, and even the service (despite other Yelpers' remarks) are all top notch. The flat white had everything going for it! The coffee was strong and tasty, and the ratio of espresso to milk was spot on. Lovely bit of foam up top as well! The chocolate croissant (Pain au chocolat) was amazing. It was light, airy, and so incredibly flaky! All the fresh buttery layers and bit of chocolate combined to form absolute heaven. The bonbons I tried were excellent as well! Not only are they really pretty, but a crisp shell gives way to a fantastic and flavorful interior. The service in my experience has been friendly and efficient. I was neither ignored, nor did I feel pressured to know what I want when I just walked in. Finally, there is a question of cost. SALT is not cheap, and bonbons are $3.50 for a candy the size of a thumb from the knuckle up. However, considering the care and artisanship that goes into everything, the value is absolutely there. Thus, while not the cheapest spot around, the entire experience is more than worth the couple extra dollars it costs. The food, coffee, and service are all top-notch. Cute location too, it is just a bit small (they do have outdoor tables, weather permitting).

Yelp
Lovely pastry shop in Newton with an impressive selection of baked goods. Despite it being pretty busy, the service was friendly and efficient. I got a slice of the kouign amann and an iced matcha latte. The latte wasn't sweet at all, which was my mistake in not checking. There are a few tables, but expect them to be full on a weekend. The space got pretty cramped, as there isn't much room for people to wait for their drinks without being in the way. I would definitely come back to check out more of their pastries.

Yelp
SALT Patisserie is my favorite place for coffee and baked goods so far! The interior design is so beautiful, bright, and simply elegant. There is limited seating but this would be a great place for catching up with friends. The customer service was great and they were able to recommend certain items and drinks. They have a huge array of baked goods, lunch items, dessert pastries, and a good coffee/tea menu. We ordered the tiramisu/pick me up, bueberry danish, amman, pain aux raisin, rocher eclair, lemon tart. All of the pastries were beautiful and delicious, but my favorite were the rocher eclair and tiramisu. The rocher eclair was basically a delicious Rocher Eclair with rich chocolate and balanced texture. The tiramisu came in an edible chocolate cup and had such delicious light fluffy cream and a balanced flavor of coffee. For drinks we got the hot matcha latte and chai latte, both were delicious and came with beautiful latte art. Definitely will be back to try more of their baked and dessert pastries!!

Yelp
I tried the Mocha latte w/oatmilk today! It was just the right amount of chocolate and sweet, I also thought the barista did a wonderful job w/the latte art! Welcoming and friendly, there were some crumbs on all of the tables but that doesn't bother me. Variety of breads they sell are vegan, the space is beautiful, the case looks wonderful. I hope they add vegan pastries to the menu!

Yelp
Excellent and friendly service and their Dulce de Leche cinnamon donuts are amazing!!!!

Yelp
My littlest one just loves Salt's chocolate chip cookies. She says they are the very best! A delicious bakery in downtown Newton. Everything we have tried has been good. They have just a few tables inside but today we saw 5 or so tables outside too. Perfect for the nicer weather. Perfect spot for morning pastries. Their sourdough is good too!

Yelp
This store is so cute and the pastries are amazing. Absolutely love love love. It is located in Newton Centre, very walkable. I adore their Romeo and Juliet, which is a passion fruit cheese danish. Their almond croissant is fantastic as well with a perfect balance of crispiness and moisture. I loved every single pastry I bought here. There are 3-4 tables which are almost always occupied. Yes they are popular. Luckily they have additional outdoor seating (3 small tables). Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
A much needed update, as my opinion and their performance have changed significantly, both on the upswing. Pain au Chocolat (I just say chocolate croissant): Excellent flavor, minimal use of but very high grade chocolate, boldly buttery. Not fully crackly but much more so than my first two tries. Other than Lakon Paris and Cremeux (neither of which can match Salt on other fronts), I can't think of a better one in the area. Pain Au Raisin: Eye-catching with tremendous shine, and excellent, better than the chocolate. Nicely glazed, better than Lakon Paris both visually and for taste, though Cremeux and PB Boulangerie would be my faves for this. Moist pastry cream between the dough spirals adds shininess in several different ways. Palmier: I don't get this item often, so not much to compare it to, but I thought it was a really nice combination of light/flaky and as bendy (need that) as it was brittle. Glaze was buttery and faintly almondy. Elegant simplicity deliciously done. Really enjoyed this one more than I expected. Chocolate Chip Cookie: Great, absolutely great. Third, fourth, and fifth time trying and just as great every time. I've always loved it, and I'm ashamed that I didn't previously give Salt higher than 3 stars based on this item alone. Thick, bendable, chewy, buttery, and for me the perfect ratio of delicious chocolate to delicious cookie dough. Every aspect is brilliant and it's the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had (sorry, Mom). Chocolate Caramel Tart: Nicely crunchy of thin crust, only moderately buttery. Chocolate tasty with a little bit of bite and just sweet enough without being heavy. Caramel a nice contrast. and gold foil gilded the lily. Solid item. Black Forest Cake: Wow, wow, WOW. A triumph of construction and flavor, this is edible art at its finest. So many different elements, it's hard to let it all sink in (though my hips will surely let it sink in, unfortunately). My wife wasn't interested, so I couldn't compare notes. But a few different cakes in layers and a few different fillings, including a creamy cream and a cherry liqueur cream. Bordeaux (or similar) cherries on top, along with some added swirls and ornamentation. And the chocolate, though thin of texture like Hershey's syrup, is intense. Is the cherry-to-chocolate ratio a little low? Perhaps, but poetic license and creativity get them off the hook. Gotta have strong black coffee with this one. And for me, a notepad to grasp it all better next time. Mea culpa on my previous review. There I was, Croissy Croissantface, all high and mighty, dropping a 3 because they didn't make my favorite croissant. It's still a very good one, and this place does enough things well and enough things GREAT that I don't care if they don't make my favorite croissant. For overall breadth, creativity, execution, and service, Salt ranks with the very best of them and for me is the most exciting patisserie in town.

Yelp
Got to try this place after Daniel Corpuz (yes, from School of Chocolate) told me to. So, presenting Chef Thiago's new patisserie. At least since 10 months ago. His pastries first off, are awesome! Not only are they awesome, they're beautiful. Also it's rare to find any passion fruit based desserts (at least to me) so I was happy finding the passion fruit tart. I also got his chocolate chip cookie which had a lot of chocolate. Amazing. Then I got the Nutella pastry in which I kind of expected something like stroopwaffle texture. But instead, it breaks nicely and is easy to eat. Also got to meet Chef Thiago himself in which case super super thrilled! The guy is so nice and awesome! Shook hands with him and got some pictures. He was also so pleasant to my parents as well. Anyways, very worth coming here and while it sucks that I'm on the west coast in California, definitely visiting this place again when I return to Boston.

Yelp
This past spring, I went to this bakery twice. It's a little shop in Newton Centre with about 4-5 small tables. I have tried the chef's chocolate chip cookies, black forest cake, chocolate caramel tart and the canele de bordeaux. Everything was so good! The chocolate chip cookies were crispy on the outside and warm and gooey inside. One of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had! The black forest cake was a chocolate almond sponge cake with cherries, and chocolate mousse. It was rich, decadent and not too sweet. The canele de bordeaux were very buttery and delicious! Their hot coffee is also very good as well. They also sell croissants, baguettes, breads, and bon bons as well. Can't wait to try their other items next time!

Yelp
Great food & coffee. The restaurant was clean and the service was fast & friendly. Beats Tatte in Newton Center by far. .

Yelp
SALT Patisserie is everything you want in a neighborhood bakery & coffee shop! I loved my flat white, served in a large, comforting mug. The apple coffee cake muffin had just the right amount of crumb and tasted like fall. The chocolate hazelnut croissant was out-of-this-world delicious. I loved the different textures and how indulgent it was. I'd for sure recommend this one, and it pairs perfectly with coffee. At SALT, there's a great variety to please every pastry palate, and the quality is high. Come on by!

Yelp
I came here with my dad to try for the first time and we were not disappointed. He loved the breakfast sandwich and said it was one of the best he has ever had. This patisserie has more of an upscale vibe and is more sophisticated than your typical cafe. They have a large variety of pastries, breads, and baked goods to choose from. It is medium priced but worth it for the quality of food and coffee. Employees were super friendly as well. There is limited seating so you may have to take your order to go.

Yelp
The bakery is very tastefully furnished and comfortable with about 3 indoor tables. There are outdoor seats and tables if weather permits. Pastries and sweets are pricey but excellent. Some pastries are very rich but perfect for sharing. Our favorites are- Almond Croissant, Scrap Amann, Savory Croissant and Quiche.I always get their almond croissant and spinach artichoke croissant! It's flaky, buttery and full of goodness in every bite.

Yelp
I stopped by SALT on a weekday afternoon to get a sweet treat to brighten up the day. I came in and got their strawberry tart and picked up a chocolate chip cookie after hearing how great it was from another customer. It wasn't too busy, so I was able to have a few minutes to look at all the pastry options. The strawberry tart was great, fresh strawberry slices, slightly sweet cream, and a crispy shell. The chocolate chip cookie was big and definitely super soft and chunky. Overall, this is a great neighborhood bakery in Newton Centre.

Yelp
Yum yum yummmm! SALT brings truly exquisite pastries to Newton. The price is steep, but it reflects the quality and craftsmanship of the treats. I highly recommend the passionfruit bonbon. The unique combination of chocolate and passionfruit works wonderfully. And yes, you will see Netflix famous Tiago if you stop in!
google avatar

Yelp
The desserts were fabulous. The coffee was lacking, too milky. The strawberry tart was delicious. The cream on top was perfect. The service was quick and they were helpful. They have little umbrella tables set up outside.

Yelp
Scrap amann chocolate and caramel and smoked salmon with a mocha. This place is amazing. Everything I had was fantastic. The mocha was not enough but in all fairness I didn't request it extra hot. The pastry chef was there doing his thing, creating greatness. The Amann was the most unique. I am from California but love this place and will be back in December. Can't wait to try other things. 10 out of 10!

Yelp
I was quite impressed by this bakery in Newton. The space itself is modern yet welcoming. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. They have a good selection of savory and sweet pastries, plus other desserts and coffee/tea beverages. I got a few pastries to go. They were pretty on point - flaky and buttery. My favorites were the Blueberry danish and Spinach and artichoke. Service was prompt and friendly. I'll definitely be paying them another visit next time I'm in town!
google avatar

Quoc-Dien T.

Yelp
The bakery is definitely the best in Newton. Minus one star because the Brazilian cheese bread is not chewy enough.
google avatar

Joy G.

Yelp
Delicious pastries that could definitely give the neighboring Tatte a run for its money but I can't in good faith give Salt the full five stars after a really meh customer experience. Look, I get the whole trade-off between so-so service and excellent product. I grew up eating amazing Chinese food where the waiters stare you down and no one refills your water or checks on how you're doing. But there, at least you have an inkling that you're there for good food, not necessarily fawning service. And when you're paying an arm and a leg for a pastry, especially with a celebrity chef's name attached to it, you hope you can at least not be ignored. My first visit, my husband and I came here to grab some croissants before a hike. Even before biting into the plain croissant, I knew I was in for a treat just with the inhale of fragrant butter. The layers were dense and flaky; every bite was heaven. I ate the whole thing knowing I could eat a few more without regret. Then I came a second time to grab an assortment of pastries for my mom's birthday. When I stepped inside, there were three people behind the counter. One was helping another customer with a coffee order. The other two were folding boxes and cutting labels. No one acknowledged me. I moved closer to the card reader in the hopes that, short of taking my wallet out and flashing a credit card, I could get someone to help me. Nope. I even made eye contact with both the guy folding boxes and the girl snipping labels and it was like I wasn't even there. Extremely bizarre and rude. Finally, I called out to the girl, hey, excuse me, I'm ready, and she seemed surprised that I hadn't been helped yet. The finishing touch was that it was pouring outside and she handed me just the box, without offering a bag to make sure nothing got wet. Too bad. The pastries were delicious but not worth the off-putting attitude. I should have just walked out immediately. Take your money to Tatte.

Yelp
I randomly discovered this place had opened in Newton center. It's way better than Tatte in my opinion. But let's keep that a secret since Tatte is always jammed and I don't want to draw a crowd..:) The almond croissant was flaky and buttery and chock full of almonds. It was so delicious. One of the best I've ever had. Warm chocolate chip cookie still had gooey chocolate inside. It was confectionary heaven. The muffin was so delicious too. It's also reasonably priced for the area. Croissants, the regular ones, were $6 I think. That's very fair considering the size. This place is amazing. The owner is so friendly and engaging with customers. When I arrived they were bringing out trays of baked goods. Cinnamon rolls. Chocolate croissant. Everything fresh from the oven and smelled so great. I can't wait to return to try the elephant ear and other items. You can see all the items on display, it's hard to pick just one. I'm impressed with this place. It's conveniently located in Newton center by the Four spoons Thai place. Parking is easy because of the center lot. You have to try this place. The 5 star rating is justified.

Yelp
We continue to love Salt-- best chicken caesar salad with chicken that is SO tasty in it of itself, out of this world croutons, and best dressing, the bon bons (we stop by often just to see whether there are any and any new ones and of course, have to buy 1 each :)... AND Salt donated so many special items for us to bring to our community's local firefighters on International Firefighters Day. Salt is not only an amazing bakery (we are so lucky to have them here from a purely gourmand's perspective) but caring community member as well. Thank you Team Salt!

Yelp
We loved our visit to SALT and even got a meet and greet with Thiago, who was incredibly gracious and modest (I was starstruck!)! Beautifully light tiramisu with strong espresso flavor and an angelic sponge. Elephant ear was the perfect consistency, flaky and light without overpowering the cream filling. Chocolate croissant had a nice rich cacao and was a treat even a day later. The cookies and cream eclair lacked a strong punch of flavor to bring it up to par with the rest of the menu. The corn muffin, however, was a great example of executing the classics to perfection. The ambiance of the store is also lovely -- well decorated and lit, with a fun collection of cake sculptures created by Thiago himself! Drinks 1. Coffee (5/5) Patisserie 1. Tiramisu (5/5) 2. Elephant Ear (5/5) 3. Chocolate Croissant (5/5) 4. Cookie and Cream Eclair (4/5) 5. Corn Muffin (5/5)

Yelp
SALT Patisserie offers a good array of deliciousness to choose from. I decided to try the Spinach & Feta Quiche, the Pain Au Chocolat, the Drunk Oatmeal Raisin Cookie and the Croissant. (It was a long day, don't judge me.) All were exceptionally fresh, tasty and delicious. The service was welcoming, prompt and efficient. The space clean, modern and inviting. If you're in the area or even if you're not, but up for a drive, give them a try.

Yelp
I've been coming here for my weekend breakfast and all ai can say is they've been consistently great! Almond and spinach artichoke croissant are my favorite. They are flaky, buttery and filled with goodness in every bite. The shop is small and they can get a little busy on weekend so you'd be lucky to get a seat inside.

Yelp
I'm glad Starbucks was closed because I stumbled upon Salt on the sad walk back to my car LOL. Salt's soft opening was already incredible and I'm excited to see what else is to come. The ambiance was chic and I liked the thoughtfulness that went into the space's design. Entering the store was also so cool, as there were cakes based off of the architecture of the store. Me and my bf got breakfast and the Croque Monsieur was STUFFED. The bread was great - the flavors were well rounded and very savory. I also got the ham and cheese croissant which also had a lot of filling amongst the perfectly flakey layers - i really appreciated that. The dark roast coffee was also incredibly smooth and Very reasonable priced at 3.50$. The pistachio eclair was 10/10 - The custard was light and had a subtle pistachio taste. I liked the interesting choice of flipping the top upside down to get a perfect piping of the whipped cream. There was also a craquelin crust in there which really added to the texture. Overall, super unique and I'm excited to try their other pastries soon :)

Yelp
I had to take the time to write about the amazing drunken oatmeal raisin cookies from SALT. They use golden raisins instead and it is phenomenal! The hazelnut chocolate croissant is also really good.

Yelp
Fig , Prosciutto & Brie on French Baguette is YUMMY Haven't gotten a chance to try the other stuff but will hopefully soon!

Yelp
My husband and I have been following the Salt journey on IG and finally got a chance to try it out! We went around 9:00 Friday morning to avoid lines. Everything we tried for breakfast and took home for the afternoon was spectacular: * Brown butter hazelnut muffin: very good if you're a chocolate fan * Corn muffin: incredible custardy texture & flavor * Pao de queijo: even better heated up at home * Plain croissant: awesome texture & flavor; not too buttery * Almond croissant: huge with lots of soft filling (my husband loved this) *Chocolate chip cookie: crispy outside, soft inside with tons of chocolate * "drunk oatmeal raisin" cookie: holy moly, this was one of the best cookies I have EVER eaten! * La Colombe cold brew was also very good and they have vanilla bean syrup you can add too We even got a little glimpse of Thiago! We definitely want to go back in the afternoon to try the tiramisu, Kouign Aman, and pistachio eclair.

Yelp
While I feel like there have been a lot of cafes/bakeries that have popped up in the Newton area, Salt is another exceptional spot! Their pastries are works of art... that also taste delicious. I also love that they work with Too Good To Go - not only to fight food waste but also providing people a chance to try their pastries at an affordable rate (if they need)!

Yelp
Finally, a chocolate croissant worth writing about. It is just the right sweet, with all the right flakiness. The latte, though, was nothing special. I wouldn't get their latte here again.

Yelp
I have been hearing about SALT and finally took the time to check it out on a Saturday afternoon with a friend. They have everything on a display case, so I took the time to figure out what I wanted to try. Behind the counter were plenty of workers who were happy to take your order whenever you were ready. I decided to get their Pao De Queijo. Kouign Amann, Matcha Macadamia Cookie, Tiramisu, Rocher Éclair, and Blueberry Lavender Muffin. The Pao de Queijo was made of tapioca flour, and I enjoyed the fluffy texture of the bun. It made me wish that I had more since they were so convenient to pop in my mouth. The Kouign Amann was very buttery and sticky, but surprisingly, it was not too sweet. You can taste the layering of this pastry. I think it was made well, but as it was my first time trying out this pastry, I think it is just not my kind of pastry. The matcha macadamia cookie was probably one of my favorites from this purchase. The cookie had a subtle matcha flavor with a good amount of nuts and white chocolate chips incorporated in the cookie. This cookie was on the harder side, but that did not stop me from enjoying it. The tiramisu was honestly disappointing for how much I had to pay for it. Appearance-wise, it scored the most points, but its taste did not live up to its looks. The edible chocolate "foil" of the tiramisu was not very sweet, which I greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, the pastry was basically made entirely of cream. There was not much "cake" component to the dessert, and I could not taste much coffee as a result. The Rocher éclair was not bad. The texture was not very fluffy and was slightly crispy. It had a decent amount of cream and tasted true to its name with the presence of hazelnut flavor. It is not something I would crave to get again though. The blueberry lavender muffin was the worst out of everything I ordered. It is extremely dry and barely had any hint of lavender present. Overall, I think some of their desserts are not too bad, but not good enough to purposely make a trip over.

Yelp
Delicious & fresh! The perfect way to start your Sunday morning, Will definitely be here at SALT. My husband & I had a cortado with the yummiest spinach & feta Quiche. Before we left we picked up some more goodies for the road & was not disappointed. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
I adjusted my expectations based on previous reviews but I actually had an amazing experience at Salt. Service: A++. Staff was so kind and had great recommendations. Also gave us a free cookie since it was near closing time. Thank you!! Food: everything was impeccable. The Ferrero Rocher eclair was divine. Tried the passion fruit, carrot, and bourbon butterscotch bon bons and while they were all incredible the passion fruit was my favorite. I did not taste the cookie, my boyfriend downed it before I got a bite but he said it was very good. Tables: plenty of space on a Sunday evening. Small cafe tables. Saw only 1 laptop. Ambience: not chaotic or loud. Good for a friend date but not large parties. Hopefully Salt continues to do well, I will be back for sure!

Yelp
I stopped In for a pastry.... Holy prices... 10 bucks plus for a pastry... I settled ons 4 buck cookie, 4 buck Romeo and Juliet pastry. 4 tables and 2 taken by lap top Starbucks types thinking they can amp out all day and tie up tables... owner shouldn't allow or cancel wifi and keep them out ... no money made off these types. Cookie lousy compared to Cookie Monsta cookies in Needham. The pastry cream I didn't like taste of it... wasn't much selections. I don't see need to return unless I need place to use my lap top for the day and buy area or cokes or ask for free water.

Yelp
Yes, it's sooo much better than Tatte. The passionfruit tart tastes like a whole bag of passionfruit is condensed into each bite. Tatte's owner is a billionaire who is turning it into another corporate chain; give your money to Salt, we need to sustain this small business. I just wish the servers at Salt were happier to see you. Seriously. Do something about that, Salt.

Yelp
Great pastries and coffee. Broad selection. Friendly service. Not cheap. Feels upscale. Limited seating.

Yelp
O. M. G!!!!!!!!! I decided swing by this cute little bakery and café after I treated myself to a haircut and manicure. I have yet to try the regular and chocolate croissants, but I was super hungry and tried the pão de queijo while waiting for the T back home. Next time your cheesy carb cravings hit, run (don't walk) here! I guarantee you'll want to order more than one! (P.S. try them warmed up)

Yelp
Inflation and cost of international travel on your mind this holiday season? No worries, cuz as an American worried about French stereotypes, you no longer need to fly all the way to Paris to be insulted. Turns out that experience is just a short drive away, in Newton Center. The place where 'have a nice coffee and wait twenty minutes for your baguettes to come out of the oven' becomes 'we don't have enough and we are opting for a first-come-first-serve approach and it doesn't matter that you already ordered and were patiently waiting.' Salt PissMeOffForFree, where the baguettes and the service, are Ooh na na

Yelp
So we decided to pop in here on a Saturday morning (after seeing the huge line over at Lakon Patisserie) and tried the almond croissant, ham & cheese croissant, matcha latte, and a latte with oat milk. While they all tasted good, honestly there wasn't really anything to write home about. Also, there was maybe just a tad too much butter in my almond croissant to the point my fingers were literally glistening just from holding the pastry. Service was friendly and fairly quick, but did seem a little disorganized. Although the space was on the smaller side (there are only a couple of tables inside and I think two outside), it was very clean and I loved their simple yet modern interior with the warm orange tones which brought me back to Europe.

Yelp
If you want the best nitro cold brew with oatmilk, look no further. I am obsessed with it and pretty much everything else they sell. I come every week and every week I try something different to eat with my nitro cold brew. The croissants are heaven, the chocolates impossible to eat one, the pastries so rich. Freddy was very professional when there was a problem with a chocolate order I had placed. The place is beautiful and clean. Thiago is the pastry chef Newton Center needed, and I can't believe what he can transform into deliciously edibles!!!
