Had a fantastic meal at Salt Yard (Goodge Street) yesterday! The food was absolutely delicious - especially the beef and lamb dishes, which were a real highlight. Highly recommend! The service was equally great, with Julia taking such good care of us - so helpful and all-around wonderful. We were there for a birthday meal, and it truly didn’t disappoint. Can’t wait to go back!

Lovely atmosphere & delicious food. Highlights were the artichoke; the broccoli, the cod & the pistachio fondant. Incredible. Maria was our waitress & she was very attentive & helpful, as were all the staff. Thank you for a delicious birthday meal.

Sensational stop over for a few great wines with our host Anna. The wine selection is a lot larger than most of the restaurants in the area. This is a very easy to access restaurant with tapas style food. The cocktails are great. We had the cuttlefish and burrata. This a very easy to access restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun.

Place was nice and cozy. Anna was super lovely and treated us with amazing service! Food was a bit underwhelming for the price for my taste. The tortilla was super dry and overcooked to my taste. Sizes were ok. Paid £70 for 4 tapas and 2 entres (no drinks)

When I came to Salt Yard , I ordered a wide range of their tapas. In total I ordered the padron peppers , iberico ham, cheese platter, jamon croquettes, truffle arancino, burrata , patatas bravas, chorizo , flatbread , prawns in chilli oil and the braised beef. I was a fan of the padron peppers and iberico ham , I would say the iberico ham was almost better than the ham I’ve had in Spain. The cheese platter in my opinion wasn’t necessarily worth the price (£18 for the small platter) but it was fine . The jamon croquettes were delicious and the truffle arancino was good but sickly after too much. The patatas bravas was good too but nothing special. I was a huge fan of the chorizo and prawns in chilli oil, it paired well with the flatbread with herb butter. I was not a fan of the braised beef, although the texture was good, it was soft but it had no flavour whatsoever and was very very dry. Each time I took a bite I had to have some water with it. The basque cheesecake was nice too. Regarding drinks, I tried the sangria which was nice and the padron margarita which I wasn’t a fan of. The service was okay, the staff were friendly but I felt some of the dishes took a while to come out. Although I know its tapas style and things come out at different times, this was fine but just some things took too slow to come.

My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at Salt Yard. The place was packed on a Tuesday night. We were seated comfortably at the bar counter and Anna greeted us with a smile. She was really helpful with her suggestion and we love her recommendation of the artichoke. The eggplant dish was also very very good. I liked the prawns but my wife who is used to the fresh seafood from our island nation thought that they could be firmer. We asked for some bread to soak up the delicious sauces from each of the dishes and were treated to the very tasty chargrilled flatbread. We have had good food before, but, Anna’s exceptional service has made all the difference to our experience. Will come back!

We were walking aimlessly looking for a place to rest our legs and eat dinner. Stopped at this quiet street to check our Google maps as we were kind of lost. Someone came out of this restaurant and pointed for us to go in and try as he said food was great here. So we walked in and luckily there was a table available in the basement. Food was Spanish tapas, poshly presented. Quite pricey but tasted good. Service was very friendly and attentive.

Tapas burst with flavors and the atmosphere was great. I went here with my partner for anniversary and peri peri prawn is our favorite. However churros are a bit plain

We had such a great visit to the Salt Yard. We were promptly welcomed and seated. The ambitious was casual and sophisticated. The open kitchen upstarts is awesome to get to see how it operates and of course their kitchen practices. They have some great Italian and Spanish classics and we were so happy to have found it. We started with drinks. A classic Spanish Vermut is a great way to start. We then ordered some of our favorites. Olives, meats, cheeses, croquettes, and Patatas Bravas. All around everything was on point. The services was great. Our server indulged us on our love for Spain and shared his passion of his home country. We would highly recommend a stop here.

I ordered for pickup Chopino for 2pm pickup. It was the worst Chopino I've ever had. The broth tasted like chicken broth and it seemed as though I bought yesterday's leftovers. So surprised because the food there is usually very good. Never again. I paid $40 and tipped $8 only to get home and be highly disappointed.

Didn't have reservations here but popped in, ended up sitting at their bar counter, which wasn't ideal for conversation but nice for people watching. We could have sat outside but it had been a bit rainy and being from So Cal didn't really want to inhale the cigarette smoke that seems to be at every outside cafe in all of Europe,, but i digress.. the cocktails were delicious ,, the Tapas very tasty ,, i enjoyed some more then others and the service excellent. My son and his girlfriend loved it so much (many options for pescatarians) they made reservations to go back the next night. I would definitely eat here again if ever in the area !!

One of those places that's nice enough from the outside, but come in and be greeted and seated and menued. That's when you see it, the wonderful food and drink on offer. What a great cocktail list, and the wines! Every plate or plank we got was so delicious, the cheese's so very satisfying, and the shrimp! So perfect. Come here, eat and drink incredibly well. Enjoy!

A friend brought me here, as we were looking for a light dinner. Salt Yard was cozy, clean, refined, and just everything you could want on a nice evening out. The host greeted us and sat us right away. It was decently busy for a Wednesday night, We ordered a couple drinks, the baked hake with steamed mussels, slow-cooked octopus, the grilled flat iron special, and the mac and cheese. First of all, the presentation of each dish was beautiful! I was so consumed by the food, I forgot to take pictures. The hake was probably my favorite, it was cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese was very cheesy, and since it was brought out towards the end, I simply didn't have the appetite for it. Four plates to share between two was just right. Overall, a lovely spot for dinner!

Came here while waiting for the owner of the rental place to show up. My friends and I stopped by with a lot of luggage and the staff was super nice in allowing us to store it with them while we waited. We grabbed some charcuterie and wines, as well as a few additional snacks. We lucked out as this was one of the best places we found while we were visiting London. The staff here were always super friendly and very nice. My favorite here was their Jamon Iberico de Bellota. We came here several times during our Soho stay and the Jamon was by far the best I've had in the area (tried a few other places too and none were as good as here). The second favorite here for me was the Courgette Flowers Stuffed with Goat's Cheese and Drizzled with Honey. This was recommended by the staff and boy was it delicate and delish! I don't even like goat cheese, but it was a perfect pairing. We tried pretty much their entire bar menu of snacks, and I preferred the Italian charcuterie over the Spanish. Personal taste though. My friends really liked the Padrón Peppers, tough it tends to be very salty around the end. Most of the wines we tried here were very enjoyable. The staff knows their stuff so ask if you're not sure what you prefer. This was definitely a find, and as London seem to have less of a Yelp presence, we got lucky on stumbling onto this place which was just around the corner from where we were staying. Definitely my favorite restaurant when I was in Soho. Would come again when I'm in the area!

Came here on a Sunday while roaming around London after just having landed from the States. So I was sleepy, but with boosts of caffeine, I toughed it out and glad I did because it made me stumble upon Salt Yard. They have a fantastic £20 set menu for lunch: a starter, a main, and a dessert. This is real food prepared by a talented chef, so in Central London I'd call that a borderline steal. My brain wasn't functioning properly, so I cannot describe exactly what I had, but I know my starter was a modern take on a croqueta that had pork belly, I believe, and was complimented with some fresh and crisp vegetables. My main was a duck dish. (I've posted a photo of it.) Not too surprising, I recall the dessert was a carrot cake foundation with other accoutrement, and it was excellent. The wine list is largely Spanish and it covers all price points. We had a nice Ribera del Duero. I don't frequent London like I used to, so when I travel (and return to cities), I like to try new places, but I would strongly consider coming here again because the food was very, very good.

Really amazing vegetarian small plates. I'm not sure if I would call this tapas - the portions are actually quite big not exactly Spanish. The baked polenta was average, but the mushroom and chard topping was lovely. I would definitely recommend the truffled macaroni and cheese and the courgette (zucchini) flower. Both were fantastic!

I had a Mega Meal here. The waiter warned us we'd over-ordered, but then accidentally brought something we cancelled, by which time we'd added patatas bravas, but the food was so good the patatas were the only things that didn't get finished! The courgette flowers weren't quite as good as I'd expected, not much cheese, but still a nice dish. From the fish section, we ordered the soft shell crab and squid, both things I always love and really enjoyed. Far from being rubbery, the squid had a refined flavour. Meat wise we got the beef which was quite delicate and the jamon croquetas with manchego. I've found croquetas to be a bit disappointing at times, but these were excellent. The highlight for me was the truffled macaroni cheese, cep and truffle arancini, and gnocchi with girolles. There's a general theme there! Rich, creamy, sensational food. The food of dreams. It was so good. You have to try it. Service was pretty efficient, we were left alone quite a bit at the beginning and end of the meal but the food once ordered came out quickly. Only thing was a couple of times plates were taken when they still had sauce I needed for dipping! We were tucked in a table at the back which was nice because we had more space and less bustle. You do need to book in advance, preferably by a few days.

Not the cheapest place in this part of London, but a nice small place, with good small plates and a great wine selection.

Seriously, one of my favourite tapas restaurants in London. They're usually busy, but not overwhelmingly so and they take reservations, unlike most other tapas restaurants in the area. Plus one for Salt Yard. The menu is simple and classic, but they do it well. On my most recent visit, we had the patatas bravas, chorizo skewers, diver scallops (heavenly!), pork belly, and courgette flowers. All were delicious - our faves being the scallops and the chorizo - and we were stuffed by the end of our meal. I've got to say, the Salt Yard group in general does chorizo well... at a separate occasion at a bbq food festival, I got to try their pork and chorizo burger and it was absolutely amazing - the combination of chorizo and pork with whatever seasonings they used worked incredibly well and if I could've, I would've had a second. Wish it were on the menu here!

I finally managed to venture my way to Salt Yard with their fantastic Bank holiday offer where they were offering a staggering 50% off food during lunch. As much as we enjoyed our lunch the place lacks that charm it has in Ember Yard. It was very closed in, a long bench seating where you share among other customers but with your own small individual table. You also have the choice to sit around the bar. I suppose they try and fill the place with as many seating as possible to avoid people queuing but in the end you lose out on the nice relaxing vibe like you get in their sister branch, Ember Yard which I love. It just lacks space and privacy. Food wise it was great but not extraordinary with some dishes better than others. Most of the tapas were done well but the flavours and textures did not amaze me as much as my first visit to their sister branch Ember Yard. Saying that I was very impress with their Spanish Selection Charcuterie which was very skillfully cut, thin and juicy. They were cured very right to the palate, salty but not overwhelming so the flavours could be enjoyed with the chorizo being my favourite with the punch of sweet spice They particularly went well with our Spanish cheese selection, paired very well with a sweet compliment such as strawberry jam with a good mix of the more pungent variety, nutty and creamy. As a side we also ordered Chargrilled Flat Bread with Homemade Butter which came warm and fluffy with a nice light herby butter which I wish they could be more generous with as it was lovely and creamy with a very low melting point so it spread along the bread as soon as it touched it. The quail eggs were cooked perfectly, easy to peel, light and tasty. And the almonds roasted nicely, crunchy and salty. Off the tapas menu we started with the Salt Cod Croquetas which were good and crispy on the outside, stuffed generously with chunky pieces of fish. It could have been more creamier but that was resolved by the light refreshing bravas sauce was a lovely addition as it lifted the sweetness and added moisture in the dish. Next came my all time favourite of the Salt Group chain, the courgette flower stuffed with Goat's Cheese and drizzled with Honey. In fact it was so good my boyfriend nearly cried when the plate got taken away before he could lick the honey off the plate clean. It was just that combination the crispy light batter, creamy pungent goat cheese, sweet warm honey against the savoury courgette flower that made this dish amazing. Sadly it doesn't come cheap, £4.50 for one and we had two to share, The Slow Cooked Octopus were incredibly tender and citrusy. They were a bit over generous with the olive oil which I felt wasn't needed and it was also let down by the ratte potatoes which were under seasoned and bland. It seems like the flavours did not seep through. I also was a bit disappointed with the tortilla which didn't have the oozy effect I was after. I had high expectations for this dish. I suppose it is a preference but I also found this dish a bit bland and could have been more richer. I felt a bit of moisture could have made the texture of potatoes and egg a little less dense and stuffy. My least favourite fish had to be the Roast Loch Duart Salmon,Mussel and Saffron Risotto. As nice as the salmon was, perfectly cooked I found the dill in the risotto way too overpowering, taking over all the other delicate flavours. The risotto was also too saucy and lost it's al dente texture. What a shame for such a wonderful cooked fish with it's crispy skin and flakiness. We ended with a light finished of Duck Arancini with Mozzarella, Squash Purée and Toasted Pumpkin Seeds. i wasn't sure if i wanted it light as the mozzarella wasn't very apparent. It lacked that stringy cheese and creamy texture I was after but instead had a more healthier wholesome texture to it. Tasted very average to me with the flavours not really coming through, especially the duck which can be very flavoursome. After the meal I felt very happy that we had the 50% off or otherwise the outcome could have been even more disappointing. I just feel I could have better tapas at a more local Spanish restaurant and the prices would have been the same with what we paid. It was also very crammed, little space and lacking something in it's decor although it may have a better atmosphere in the evening. Still I very much prefer Ember Yard being their sister, better food and decor. But I do understand their menu changes seasonally so things can potentially change.

Had a great meal to celebrate our anniversary. We're here in 2012 and ate at one of the sister sites. Charcuterie plate, with flatbread. Yummy, the bread was.... and the meats were just the right saltiness. The Prosecco spritzer was too sweet but the Prosecco itself was delish. Courgette of zucchini was scrumptious... the cheese inside the battered veg. made the dish...but order one for each person, they are small. Gli olivos ... meaty! More Prosecco..... we will return... most likely this vaca to try one of the sisters in town.

Really cute little place! Service was great and everything we ordered was delicious! Perfect place to hang out with some friends and share some small items.

Food was spectacular. Amazingly tasty and perfect size. We went there for a team lunch - 8 people, tried at least 15 different tapas and all was delicious. I especially loved their special and fish&seafood. Highly recommended!

Been here too many times to count! It's my go to restaurant for entertaining both clients and impressing friends! The staff are super friendly and never fail to squeeze you in one way or another. The food is always delicious and changes regularly. Yes there are the staples like pork belly on white beans and the fennel salami charcuterie platter. But always something fresh and different such as the unforgettable scallop carpaccio I had over two years ago. Even the story is lovely in that the couple who started the restaurant one being Italian and the other Spanish so they decided to make a fusion tapas menu. You can't write this stuff! If you find yourself in the Charlotte St. area then do yourself a favour and go check it out!

Perfect tapas here for me. I come back time and time again for business lunches and with friends alike. It's always packed, which says a lot, but many a time I've walked in and grabbed a seat at one of the bars. The seats are comfortable enough to do so and you still get the same level of attention, service and a really enjoyable experience. You must, must have the tempura courgette flowers, filled with goats cheese and drizzled with honey. They are to die for. These, combined with some padron peppers, serrano ham (18 months cured, drool...), chorizo, bread and maybe another hot dish - possibly the scallops - make up my ideal menu. Oh, and I also had the most heart-attack-inducing but utterly delicious dessert here. It was a special, and basically (to my shame), it was bread & butter pudding. But made out of pannettone. And deep fried. Then covered in sugar and cinnamon. And served with ice cream. ANYWAY. It sounds horrendous, but it was absolutely unbelievable...

You want to treat yourself and your date with some fine wine and tapas in a cozy atmosphere? Salt Yard in the Fitzrovia neighborhood is a small two-level restaurant with candle light tables that create a very intimate setting. Great for both date nights and business dinners, this place is busy every night - reservations highly recommended. Starting with the wine, you won't be disappointed. Salt Yard has Spanish and Italian wines on the list, from sparkling (Cava Rosado, Prosecco), sherries (Manzanilla, Palo Cortado, Pedro Ximenez), white (Campi Flegrei, Tanca su Contissa, I Frati) to red (Bellamarsilia, Pittacum, Cerasuolo), with prices from £3.75 - £8 per glass or £15 - £275 per bottle. I tried a bottle of Rioja (£23), a very delicious and smooth white. That was good, but much more of a highlight was the food (in terms of quality, not quantity). As a snack, I ordered the "Italian Selection" of finocchiona, salami toscano, capocollo, and speck (£8.75), with outstanding slices of salami. Followed by several plates of tapas (pan fried duck Breast with parsnip puree, caramelized chicory and blood orange, £7.75, and smoked wild mushrooms with olive oil whipped potatoes, free range egg yolk and chorizo oil, £5.75), which was not only beautifully arranged but flavorful and somewhat exotic in taste. A fantastic experience. The service was awesome - very friendly and although the place was packed, very patient. However, I don't recommend going there hungry unless you don't mind spending about £30 per person on the food (starters, tapas, desert) itself.

Delicious set menu, one at £35 and one at £40. We went with the cheaper one and were full beyond belief at the end. The most expensive one may not actually result in more food, it might just be a few substitutions that are a bit fancier, but I'll have to find out next time. You'll need at least 7 people for one of the set menus, but they were very flexible about groups. You'll start with some delicious olives, grilled flatbread (with an incredible accompanying sauce...), cheese and jamon. This will be followed by a couple fish dishes, meat, vegetables, and finally the puddings (if you still have room!). My favorite were the courgette flowers stuffed with goat cheese and drizzled with honey - amazing! Also had some wonderful pork belly. If I were to come back here with just one other person or a small group of friends I'd probably have trouble deciding what to order and what not to as everything was delicious. At £35-40 per person it is a little pricey, but for a special occasion it's pretty reasonable and a great experience.

i had been wanting to go here for ages, so one rainy thursday night, Eamon B and i decided to try and grab a quick bite. Despite the packed entryway we were seated right away. I warned them "i have to leave in an hour." and they were amazing in getting everything and still leaving us time for dessert! the food. amazing. really. Venison Carpaccio. Seared Tuna with tarragon. Baby Squid with Chorizo (put Chorizo on anything and i'll love you.). Truffled Mac&Cheese (hello foodgasism). Cured Meats. Almond Milk Panacotta. and more. freaking awesome. The decore, however, needs alot. This place, for all of its mindblowing food, didnt have any soul, any actual personality. It felt like a corporate hotel, or try hard place that didnt quite get it. will i go again? sure. For the food. i'll just warn whoever im with to ignore its lack of feeling.

On a particularly rainy night and with no definite dinner plans, we wandered close to our hotel, and explored the myriad dining establishments along Goode St. Having read about Salt Yard, we decided to go in and try our luck. As with our experience at Polpo, we were greeted very warmly by the host, and given a very detailed assessment of the seating situation and wait time. We said yes, after we saw the scrumptious dishes on the tables, and how everyone seemed to be having a great time. To start, a bottle of 2009 Macia Batle Rosado, made of Mantonegro and Callet from Mallorca. A great crisp light wine. It was rainy and cold outside, but warm and inviting in the small dining room inside. The rose was perfect. Also always great to learn about unfamiliar grape varietals. Highlight of the meal was the Confit of Glouster Old Spot Pork Belly with Rosemary Scented Cannellini Beans. This was my favorite dish of this trip to London. The cube of meat stood about a good 3 inches high. The top layer of skin was absolutely crunchy. The meat on all sides was nicely seared and crispy. Inside was melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. I'd say a marvel of culinary engineering on how the whole thing was cooked. The accompanying cannellini beans had just the right texture, with a very inviting scent of rosemary. It is definitely something I will attempt to try at home. Other highlights included Courgette Flowers stuffed with Goats Cheese, drizzled with Honey; Trevise Salad with Orange, Fresh Peas, and Radish; Chargrilled Bavette with Crispy Violet Artichokes, Shallots, and Horseradish. I'm always skeptical about zucchini flower preparations. The slightest heavy hand on the stuffing can cross the line to overpowering the delicate flower. This version was great, the goat cheese provided a very light, creamy textural contrast to the crispy batter. I was also unfamiliar with the drizzle of honey. It worked here, again, giving the dish a new dimension. The bavette was nicely grilled, just a tad before medium rare. I like fried artichoke preparations, and this one did not disappoint. For the salad, the genius combination screamed fresh. A great dish after all the richness of the meat and fried food. For a great finale, a Buttermilk Panacotta with Roasted Figs, Saba and Madeline. The use of buttermilk gave the custard a nice tanginess. The figs, and the saba (grape syrup) put the sweetness right back into the dish, but in an utterly delicious way. This was also, in this trip, the best 'pudding' I've had. Why 5 stars? Super friendly and efficient staff. Great little dining room. Inventive use of ingredients. Great flavor combination. I picked both a savory, and sweet dish from Salt Yard as my favorites on this London trip. Just absolutely brilliant.

Cozy, two-level space (ground floor is better than basement level). No tables available for walk-ins on this rainy Saturday night, but the bar had space and comfy bar stools with padded backs. Good value glass of red wine (£3.75) and a bottle of good Italian beer, and we were happy already. We decided to pick one plate each from the fish, meat and vegetable sections and were pleasantly surprised by all our selections: roasted sea bream with saffron mash and marinated squid in a delicious broth, chargrilled venison haunch with beetroot and a caper/anchovy dressing, and fried violet artichokes with pine nut puree. These are not your usual tapas! Will try the charcuterie plate next time; they had a proper meat slicer and everything. Bill came to about £30 for our three tapas, wine and beer. Service at the bar was friendly and attentive, not pushy at all. Did I need a £1 Tesco sandwich later on? Sure, but we're not rich! Will go back -- to Salt Yard, I mean. Well, Tesco too. Good place to bring friends, too (Salt Yard, not Tesco).

As a Tapas lover, this place is excellent in providing traditional tapas with an Italian twist (there's even some kind of macaroni cheese there). Rather than going down the traditional road and ordering wine, why not get some of the delicious herbal teas - they have a good range and you get a free refill. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere with excellent food!

This is probably one of the best places I have eaten in London, all round. The food isn't necessarily the best I have ever had [but it is still great], but when you consider the price then it is exceptional for the price point. The service was top notch and the staff friendly and willing to help, with a pretty decent wine list too. I would recommend this for a lunch, and or a first date, not too pretentious, not too cheap but not ridiculously expensive either. I felt chilled out in this place, which is also decorated beautifully. Kudos, Salt Yard

If it were possible to give 3.5 stars, I would have opted for that, but seeing as I'm in a generous mood, 4 it is! 1 star for the friendly service 1 star for the jamon iberico (YUM) and crusty, grilled bread 1 star for the quail which was tender and juicy 1/2 star for the rocket, radicchio, walnut and gorgonzola salad which was pretty tasty, but a tad over dressed for my liking 1/2 star for the glass of vermentino and respectable wine list The arctic char dish was a bit overcooked, but the mushrooms were tasty. And the tuna carpaccio was too salty, but I liked the baby beans and salsa verde. Seeing as my company has an office near the restaurant, I could see myself going again, but with the plethora of choices in the Goodge/Charlotte Street area, I'd probably opt for something else first.

Had an enjoyable evening out here, but you have to be really in it for the food. To be honest, at a certain price point one wonders what one is paying for... every dish was exceptionally tasty, but even to share with a party of four it was difficult. Couldn't help but be painfully conscious that every small mouthful was about £4. Anyway, if you're not that hungry or have the deep pockets, you'll be happy with the flavours. Perhaps just not for me.

We arrived after the theater. .they were getting ready to close but we got a order in ...staff very friendly and food amazing!

loved it. Service was very good, and there was plenty of food. Wouldn't get the mac & cheese again, but otherwise, it was wonderful. a good sleek experience.

Salt Yard is a restaurant and bar that specialize in Spanish and Italian Tapas. They have the most amazing wine list and the waiters are very knowledgeable, so if you go don't hesitate to ask what wine they recommend going with your meal. Salt Yard is run by the same people that have Blackfoot Butchers just around the corner so you know where the meat in your plate comes from. They make a special dish every month so check out what the new dish is before ordering, its always working with seasonal produce to ensure the best quality, and it shows.

We popped in on a whim Friday night around 7pm and though the restaurant was packed we were happy/surprised to be told they would be able to seat our group of four between 7-8pm. We gave our (US) mobile phone # to the lovely gentleman who greeted us, then went down the street for cocktails. He called us on our mobile (called us internationally, in fact) when the table was clearing, and we popped right over. We waited exactly as long as it takes my boozer friends to consume a single cocktail! I love tapas and was so excited to have landed in a Michelin-starred restaurant in London! While the gent at the door was delightful, our server was not. We ate and drank enormous amounts, and were the easiest customers she could have as we love to eat everything, so all she had to do was bring us food, but her attitude implied she was above her role. That didn't stop us from literally eating almost everything on the menu, including two nice bottles of wine, dessert, cheese course and digestifs. Despite the amount of food we ordered, I didn't leave feeling grotesquely full (whatever that means; either we didn't get enough to eat or I ordered the proper amount for a change?) A couple of the dishes were Delicious, but for the most part, our group compared the restaurant to other far-flung tapas restaurants (Chicago -- Azucar, Las Ramblas, and obviously many in Spain) that were actually as delicious if not more so......without the Michelin to hang their hats on. Obviously more pricey, it was still a great night out and wonderful memory of one of the many dining experiences we had most recently in London.

Lately everywhere I eat either serves tapas or mezze. You will start to notice a trend in my reviews. I really love food that you can share with friends. This was the first of 3 tapas restaurants I ate in over one gluttonous, but very satisfying weekend, and Salt Yard is definitely up there. We booked as we were advised to and I'm glad we did. The place was packed and it is easy to see why. The food here is fantastic and really interesting. We gorged ourselves on Jamon Croquetas, Slow cooked pork cheeks, Duck Arancini and Patatas Fritas with Bravas Sauce and Alioli and it would be hard to pick a favourite, although if I had to the pork cheeks really were sublime. We also indulged in a plate of Serrano ham, selection of breads, olives and Chorizo. I'm sure you get the picture - we ate a shedload of seriously delicious food. We also had a few bottles of wine recommended by our lovely and attentive waiter. All in all we had a terrific night here and I for one cannot wait to go back. Do yourself a favour and make a date with Salt Yard - you will not regret it!

The standout dish was the Chargrilled Ibérico Pressa, Roast Cauliflower with Spiced Cauliflower Purée & Smoked Almond Migas (£10.50), which comes pink and is pure melt in the mouth gorgeousness. I also really enjoyed the Sautéed Chorizo and Baby Squid with Braised Chickpeas & Squid Ink Dressing (£7.50). Chorizo with anything is great but especially squid and octopus and let's face it, when was the last time you have a squid ink dressing? The Salad of Burrata with Steamed Asparagus, Slow Roast Tomatoes, Grilled Courgettes & Pesto (£8) was also delicious with it's mix of silky, creamy burrata, pesto and mediterranean veg.

Good high-end tapas, but no flavors that wowed us. The presentation was we-done and the service was great too. But there were no tastes that wowed. All good, but nothing popped. Highlight: The cheese plate of manchego was the best flavor-wise. Also the croquettes were done nicely. Lowlight: frites bravas were just English chips with paprika on them and sauces that weren't hitting the flavor mark as you'd find in Spain. A lazy attempt at this simple dish. Overall I'd say it was a good lunch but pricey for what it was. Also the bench seating is sloped down or something and gave me a massive backache.

"I think the beef changed my life" Randomly found this place when looking for a late night dinner. Most of the other kitchens in the area closed around 10pm, but not this place! It's a tiny restaurant lover two floors, the ground floor has a small bar and open kitchen where you can see them cracking away at the charcuterie etc, we got a table, but next time I'll sit at the bar cos then you can watch them in action. The tables are quite tight together, which made things a bit awks when the girl next to us started to bulb her eyes out! The food really was top notch, fried squid was heavily salted, but light and crispy. We also had their version of patatas bravas, a bit more like home made fries, with aioli and a separate tomato sauce. The potatoes were damn near perfect, slightly crispy around the edges, but sweet soft and fluffy in the middle. Truffled macaroni was a bit odd, the cheese sauce was too thin and they obviously used truffle oil as opposed to proper truffles, at £8.50, for a small(ish) dish, I expected more. We also had the most amazing beef high, a bit like warm carpaccio, on a bed of lentils which was a complete taste sensation. I think the beef changed my life Service was snappy, as expected, no complaints.

Yum yum yum this place is good! I took my girlfriend here the other day for a birthday lunch because I'd been recommended it numerous times on Twitter. For the first time this year it was warm enough to sit outside and dine alfresco! Seeing as it felt like we were on holiday we grabbed some light bites to tie us over until dinner. We shared a platter of cured meats, bowl of mixed olives and a basket of char grilled soft bread with olive oil dip. To drink, I had a beer and my girlfriend had a Belini cocktail. The service was absolutely spot on, the food was gorgeous and the alfresco people watching was entertaining. Although a little pricey, this place is good, and well recommended!

The best place I have been to for tapas, this restaurant is wonderful. A small space upstairs, with additional seating downstaris, you should come with a good appetite. I try and experience new and different tastes and this tapas bar certainly delivers. From the truffle honey with cheese and bread through the cheese stuffed aubergine flowers to the excellent wine selection, this food is great. The staff are helpful and ready and able to aid with your food choise based on what flavours you enjoy. I have been to this restaurant secveral times and I have never had a bad dish. I would highly recommend this place.

Who doesn't love a tasty tidbit? Nice little gem of a restaurant will lots of lovely choices for bits and bobs and libations.

The food deserves. 5 stars... The portions 1 star. We were 4 people and most bite size tapas had 3 pieces each? How are we meant to share 3 scallops 4-ways? We actually cheered when they brought us some plates with 4 pieces, such as the chorizo. Excellent food with beautiful flavours. Shame about the portions. The staggering of the tapas (they came out one by one) was good for stalling our appetite, but those earlier ones sure disappeared fast! Except for the bread. At £1 per half slice... It's a bit ridiculous. I'm sure they could have spared a 4th half slice at least. (again the 3-piece portions! Puzzling!) I think i would go back. Dessert was delicious, and saved us from walking away hungry despite a meal for 4 (without the drinks) setting us back £140. Not a restaurant to walk into feeling ravenous. Save that for Relais de Venise or Gaucho...

What a delightful find this was! My friend and I discovered this place on the first night of a long London weekend and had such a great time I want to recommend it to everyone I know. The charcutuerie in particular was delicious, and the waitstaff was lovely. This is definitely on my list for future London visits!!

Actually 3.5 stars. I visited Salt Yard for a late lunch recently. Of the 3 dishes I had, the squid and chorizo dish was great, the slow-cooked octopus and potato dish was lacking in flavor, and the quail and ham dish did not seem to be well thought out in terms of flavors (I think using figs vs. grapes may have been preferable in terms of balancing out the ham). I will say that I had a nice glass of sparkling rose (or prosessco rosato), but I don't think that made up for the plates I found middling. I could say that perhaps I ordered the wrong thing, but, on a menu that is limited, should there really be a wrong thing? As far as ambience, Salt Yard is quite cosy, which was great at 2 in the afternoon, but could be a bit claustrophobic when it's busy. Earlier this year, I stood in line at Barrafina for an hour before being seated around a counter in a much smaller environment, and I enjoyed that experience to Salt Yard.

Three things: 1. Chewest lamb money can buy 2. Over salted food 3. Waitress who tries to explain to foreign looking people what tapas are.

How easy is it to write reviews of places where the food is this good?! The problem is, how to remember all the amazing dishes you've had. My first visit to this fantastic Tapas, Charcuterie and wine bar was for a sit-down tapas meal at lunchtime with some colleagues. We selected a decent array of dishes but we had to order more Pork Belly (Confit of 'Gloucester Old Spot' Pork Belly with rosemary scented cannelini beans) because we ended up fighting over it. It was incredible. As were all the other dishes of course but this was a definite favourite. I ended up coming back the next week just to try some more! Subsequent visits have not disappointed either. The fish selections are first-rate with the Smoked Monkfish (Smoked Monkfish with Gooseberry Puree and Pancetta) and the scallops (Sauteed Scallops with Romanesque Puree & PX Caramel) really standing out. This is also one of those tapas restaurants where vegetarians can also expect to leave satisfied with the non-meat options. Items such as the Stuffed Cougette flowers and the sautéed Girolles sure to excite even the most carnivorous members of your group. Finally, the upstairs area also serves as a very pleasant wine bar with it's own bar snacks menu. Surely any place that boasts quails' eggs and acorn-fed Iberico ham as 'bar snacks' has got to be worth a visit.

From the outside Salt Yard looks fairly nice - nice décor, fairly intimate and dark, and modern. The service was pretty good with our Aussie waiter fairly attentive and friendly when we needed him but otherwise was welcomingly absent for the rest of the night (it was a pleasure not to feel too much pressure to leave once we'd finished eating.) Unfortunately the food was a bit of a let down and very pricey. The menu is apparently constantly changing. Everything was presented beautifully except for the strangely barren Chorizo. Ironically the most simply presented (the Courgette Flowers, Squid and Chorizo) were definitely the tastiest dishes whilst the dishes with the more complicated presentation (the Beef and Salmon) were disappointingly tasteless. Portion-wise I guess with tapas you can expect to eat quite a few dishes to get your fill and I was just glad that we'd had a gigantic lunch so I was feeling adequately satisfied sharing the above with Sandra. Salt Yard for me was just okay.

Fun tapas bar. Had a great time with my friends. I definitely recommend a reservation if you want to go. Loved the food! Everything I tried was delicious. Loved the wine selection! My only complaint is that they do not give you enough bread. The bread portions are extremely small. Else I would have given it 5 stars.

A pleasant well-cooked suprise! Tapas in London - and no chips. Smiling service, if not just a tad exhausted, and to-die-for ravioli, pork belly and lightly accented Italian staff. A British couple sat next to us whose combined ass span was 6 feet, so we guarded our glasses when they laughed, but otherwise i'd return for more prosciutto - but pick your seats well and avoid the dungeon table next to the loo and big-assed couples. Mainehigh: 4

Truffle honey + cheese = they will have to kick me out. Lots of interesting choices & great wine list. Would get 5 stars if they'd add more healthy options.

Came here with my cousin when he visited London in 2010. Small dining area in the basement where everyone is almost sat next to each other and lighting dimmed that makes it hard to see the food you're eating. However, they managed to turn an otherwise uncomfortable situation into something classy by making the furniture swankier and the decorations cooler. Overall, a type of ambience suitable for its upper-class tapas prices. The tapas were tiny, but delicious. Loved, loved the cured meat (salami?) dish. Same goes for the desserts, we ordered something chocolatey (was it churros?) - really sinful and decadent. (if i can remember this even 3 years later, this means it's awesome) Overall the bill was a bit eye-popping (for the poor student in me), but it was a great experience. If I ever get rich enough to start spending lavishly on food, this will definitely be a regular hangout for me.

I decided to go with the Ricotta Dumplings with Lemon Curd and Homemade Raspberry Jam. While they looked impressive and were about the size of a small arancini, the flavor was a little disappointing. The ricotta center was not attached to the crust so that it easily fell off from the center. The outside crust was very much like a sugared donut in flavor and texture. I would have liked to have had a more lemony flavor coming from the lemon curd which was almost lost in the mild ricotta. The homemade raspberry jam was completely necessary to give the dish any flavor, but was much more of a sauce rather than a jam in consistency. I didn't try anything else, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend this specific dessert. If you're going to go, I'd suggest picking one of the other dessert options or a cheese plate!
