The 25 Best Restaurants In Alameda

"Saltbreaker is a seasonal American restaurant that could have easily been dropped onto the Alameda naval base from some hot neighborhood in SF. (Except at Saltbreaker, there are free soft drink refills, a dying art in the city.) You’re here for a capital O occasion or a nicer-than-average date night, where you’ll sip on cocktails with infused liquor, order appetizers that are called “littles,” and admire the abundance of dangling lights and funky geometric tiles. There’s substance behind all the style, too: we always polish off the seasonally changing plates like cast iron chicken thighs and housemade pastas." - julia chen 1, lani conway

The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Alameda | Eater SF

"Saltbreaker’s location is a bit unassuming, taking up a corner space at the base of an apartment building on the base., but the dining room is cozy and comfortable. You’ll find smart classics like miso caesar salad, deviled eggs, and king salmon green curry on their New York Times-featured menu." - Meleyna Nomura

We went to salt breaker because it was close to the breweries and couldn't have been happier. we had quick, courteous service (the food came out too quickly for me). We had the pork belly sandwich and the Caesar salad with chicken. Both very good. Our fav item may have been the peanut butter old fashioned. Unique and tasty!

Had dinner with my wife, daughter and her fiance. I had the steak frites, which was excellent! My wife had the pasta, which she loved. My daughter had the mussels in a curry sauce that were excellent, and her fiance had the roast salmon that he said was delicious. Service was great, and parking was plentiful. Yet another great restaurant in Alameda - who knew?

We’ve recently visited Saltbreaker Restaurant and had an amazing experience. The hospitality was top-notch, thanks to the outstanding service provided by the host, Scott. Cannot forget Ceecee, who added a positive touch to the welcoming note and overall stay. They were both incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the burger, accompanied by the round on the house (THANK YOU, Scott). The burger was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. Every bite was a delight. The fries was something not to forget - crispy and perfectly done. The inside of the restaurant has a cozy seating, cute little bar with wide selection of spirits of your taste. The in-house recipe of Manhattan, preferred by an awesome bartender, gets a shout out as well. I highly recommend Saltbreaker Restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Five stars all the way!

Google
Great local upscale restaurant. I've visited for their brunch and dinner. The menu wasn't overly complicated which made it easy to pick a few items and share. Servings are very generous. They have some very fun and tasty cocktails which make it hard to choose just one. The wait staff were friendly and made great recommendations. Glad to have this type of eatery so close. Definitely a place I'd recommend and eat at more than once. A new go to for all kinds of celebrations of just great food and atmosphere.

Google
It's a semi-fine modern set American restaurant with cosy and relax atmosphere. Service was really good from the reservation till the end with welcoming and accommodating attitude. Food was tasty and fresh. I'd for sure be back for both burger and chicken sandwich! Didn't much like the Oysters and the lemon tart tbh! Cocktails were not like sugary juices in many places and with real alcohol! Ask for specials for the day or night! Plenty of parking available.

We went for happy hour and had a wonderful time. Their pork belly sando was a great combination of sweet and savory, and their smash burger was a solid and delicious choice. Great caribbean jerk wings - flavor and texture were the best. But really, the desserts are what blew us away—their special was a Mont Blanc, and my gosh, it was amazing! We also tried their bisque cheesecake and lemon tart, which were the highlights of the night. Overall, it’s truly a great spot to eat at and the service was amazing.

Google
Saltbreaker was a favorite of mine, and frankly still is but some menu (price changes) have affected the frequency that I'll go. Go for the "bigs" on their menu or the specials which are often very good. And the cocktails. Happy hour is a great time to go if you want something else. Wait staff and bartenders are very friendly. I really struggle with $26 for a smash burger. It's a good burger with a bacon bits inside which up the flavor, but that's a high price. On Sundays there's a food truck outside the sells smash burgers for $10 less than that. The $33 steak frites are also priced steeply for what you get. I guess the problem is I'm not sure if Saltbreaker knows what it wants to be. If it's going to be high end that's fine. If it's going to be a normal night out, that's fine too. Right now, the wires are crossed--and they didn't used to be.

Google
Found the place last minute and decided to come check it out. We ended up being seated in the private room area as the main area an bar were completely full and really appreciated that. The food was delicious and big kudos to the chef as the skin on the chicken and also the salmon were absolutely beautifully crispy. Service was also very attentive and knowledgeable. Overall was really happy to find Saltbreaker. Hope to visit soon and perhaps even use the private space for team or group events.

Yelp
This place is a great surprise for a late night, date spot! The nighttime lighting and romantic hue lighting is dead-on, and if your date loves a good burger then you're in the best possible spot! I customized mine based on the choices they had available and it was punch-you-in the-mouth good! It didn't hurt that the server was especially kind and cute either! Check'em out...again, late Sunday/Saturday guaranteed date-GREAT!

Yelp
Looked nice & felt pretty fancy, but the food was ok. Tasted great overall, but portions were just underwhelming tbh. My friend & I were like "...wanna get tacos or something after this? Lol" Parking was easy at least! LOTS of parking & felt like a safe area to not worry.

Yelp
Made reservations for a Friday night at 7:30pm and came in at 7:27pm, and they were wrapping up with a table, so we waited about 10 minutes. The restaurant was busy and had indoor and outdoor seating. We sat inside and the decorations were aesthetically pleasing with the fake plants and the green color furniture. My friend & I ordered: -House Made Focaccia (SO delicious! It was a bit oily but really good with the butter and garlic) -Butter Poached Steak (it was good, but I do recommend to eat it right away before it gets cold. Wish the piece was a bit bigger! The potato was really good) -Fresh Pasta (yummy) -Roasted Cauliflower (the cauliflower was fine but the romesco sauce was delicious and made it taste more flavorful) -Dashe: both red & white wine. I got the white wine and it was refreshing and nice. Service was good. Overall, food was tasty and it is a nice date spot. There is a large parking lot outside.

Yelp
Visited on a Wednesday night around 6pm, walked in with no reservation and was able to grab a seat at the bar without a wait. Drink: Freezer martini - good, was a prebatched cocktail but tasted balanced and clean, served nice and cold with olives Food: Mushroom Wellington - good, crisp flakey pastry with a variety of mushrooms inside. Served with a variety of vegetables and garnished with pork belly, portion size is a bit small Served was fine, staff seemed pretty knowledgeable about the menu and drinks and food arrived fairly quickly. Water was refilled throughout the meal. Overall enjoyed saltbreaker, a nice upscale dinner spot in Alameda. Menu had a nice variety, worth a try if you're in the area.

Yelp
Came here for a late lunch with a friend. Ordered a burger with fries and chicken wings to share along with drinks. Attentive service and good food. I usually do not eat burgers but their burgers are juicy and good. Always a plus when I have thin French fries that are crispy and moist inside. Their chicken wings are also very delicious. Crispy and juicy. It came with a few dipping sauce to go with it. Overall, food is good and will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
This restaurant is located in a converted factory, and the vibe is really impressive. The service was excellent, and every dish had its own unique character. I ordered a steak and a pasta dish. The portions were on the smaller side, but the steak was tender and flavorful, while the pasta had a light, refreshing vegetable aroma that really set it apart from your typical pasta. The flavors were noticeably different in a good way. For dessert, the cheesecake was hands down the best I've had in the Bay Area. Expect to spend around $90 per person. Definitely recommended for those who appreciate refined, high-quality cuisine.

Yelp
Saltbreaker has become one of our favorite dinner places in Alameda. We came in during Alameda restaurant week recently, and enjoyed the food so much that we've returned several times since. The menu is pescatarian-friendly, which is a huge plus for me. We order the smoked trout rillette every time. Their fresh pasta is also delicious. I definitely want to try the whole branzino one of these days. The service is attentive and refined. The ambiance is classy and upscale but unpretentious. Highly recommend getting a resie, it does get busy. Happy to have this place on the island.

Yelp
We had a reservation on a Friday night but still waited about 20 minutes for a table, so I'd definitely suggest making one, especially on the weekend. The food and service were great, and the playlist they had on was fantastic. The four of us shared seven dishes: caesar salad, focaccia, lobster wontons, shishito peppers, fries, branzino, and carbonara. The caesar and branzino were my favorites - so good! Also, their martinis were delicious and went perfectly with everything we ordered.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I did not have the best experience here. Though the bartender try to make it right and definitely sympathized with the wrong doings, I will give him props. Nonetheless, I had the shrimp and grits, but it came with a piece of hair in my food. I never been to an establishment that when this happens the chef, manger, or even the owner does not come out to apologize and offer to make the experience better. The bartender apologized and sympathize. Yes, it was nice that he did that, but it should have not fell on him. To leave dissatisfied and disappointed is the least to say. The ambiance here is really cute, but that's just about it. It would be nice to have a more diverse selection of wine. Specially, white wine as there is more than just California whites. Music selection... be more diverse. Your entire restaurant is not filled with just 70's & 80's rock people.

Yelp
Saltbreaker is a nice date location. They have unique dishes and the setting is intimate. I saw there's outdoor seating and lawn games, but it was not open during my visit. The price is around $50 per person if you take into account drinks and food. Upon entering the host dis ask if we had a reservation, which I did not but they were able to seat us within 15 minutes. It is probably better to reserve to secure a table. They have a parking lot adjacent to other businesses so beware mindful of where you park.

Yelp
Dinner was absolutely amazing! The cocktails and ambiance were stunningly beautiful while we waited for our reservation, and everything we ordered was beyond delicious. Our waitress went above and beyond by accommodating us when we couldn't decide on appetizers--she combined two into one so we could try both. My pasta dish was truly the best I've ever had, the steak was perfectly cooked, and the house-made focaccia was divine. I'm still thinking about how incredible the trout was! I can't wait to go back next time we're in town.

Yelp
I never would have never visited Saltbreaker if it weren't for restaurant week. I feel like I've probably seen it on Yelp years ago, but it seemed to be out of my budget as a college student and I don't typically go out of my way to eat American food. When my boyfriend and I were looking through the catalog of restaurants, the Uni Carbonara on the menu caught our eye. We've been on an uni kick recently. We made a reservation for 6:45 pm on a Thursday. I think it was more crowded than usual because of restaurant week, but it still wasn't too bad. When my boyfriend reserved a slot, the only seating left for the 6:45 time slot was the bar. We actually preferred it because we got lucky that we got seated at the tail end at the bar near the kitchen. It was spacious enough from the other parties since we were on the edge, and it was fun watching the food leave the kitchen and catching a whiff of it. Once we got settled, our server was attentive and was ready to take our order. My boyfriend and I ordered the savory cheese soufflé, uni carbonara (a la carte), steak frites, and banoffee chocolate tart (a la carte). Our server asked if we wanted anything to come out in a particular order which I thought was very considerate. We requested that the savory cheese soufflé be served first. Cheese Soufflé- We really enjoyed the cheese soufflé and I loved how the salad was dressed with lemon which gave the greens a nice tartness. The greens sat on top of a dollap of jam. The sweetness of the jam surprisingly worked well with the cheesy soufflé. Maybe this shouldn't have surprised me too much, because cheese and jam are commonly seen together in charcuterie boards. Next, the steak frites and uni carbonara came out at the same time. Steak Frites - The steak was more on the rare/medium-rare side, which I'm not too used to, but I liked that the steak was super tender. I'm sure we could have asked the server for a particular cook on the meat, but I just didn't think to. The steak was solid -- wasn't mind blowing, but the flavor was better than the steaks I've had from other restaurants. The frites were on the hard side for me. Uni Carbonara - We thought the uni carbonara was pretty good. We saw a review saying that it was underwhelming so we didn't have high expectations for this one, but still wanted to give it a try. If you're looking for a very uni forward pasta, this dish might not be your cup of tea because you will be underwhelmed. There was only one piece of uni on top. It wasn't bitter and melted in my mouth, which was good, but it also didn't have much flavor to it. If you are coming for a good carbonara with a twist to it, I think this one is solid. The pasta was al dante and the carbonara was flavored wonderfully from the saltiness of the guanciale to the slight spice from the chili crisp. I also really enjoyed the pop in my mouth from the masago, the freshness from the sauce around it, and the creaminess of the pasta. I did enjoy this dish, but wish there was more uni as the name suggests. Banofee Chocolate Tart - This dessert was delicious. This might be my favorite banana dessert I've had in a while. The slightly tart banana confit with the sugary caramelized bananas and ice cream was my favorite comboWOW! I feel like this dessert captured the true essence of banana and made it the star of the show. The only thing that would've made it better was if the chocolate tart wasn't as hard and dry. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Saltbreaker. The food was yummy and the service was excellent. My boyfriend and I thought it was pricey for the portions. We paid about $60 a person including tip, and only left 60% full. I'm glad I got to try this place, but not sure if I would come again to try their other menu items. If I could, I would knock 0.5 of a star down for my rating due to the value of this place.

Yelp
My friends and I dined at Saltbreaker on a Friday evening during Alameda Restaurant Week. Although the set $50 pre fixe menu sounded appetizing, it would've been too much food for everyone to have their own set so we opted to order a salad and the dessert a la carte off the menu, skipping over the uni pasta main course. Service, drinks, and food here are all fantastic. Our server was attentive to our party throughout our meal, drinks were well-balanced, and food was delivered from the kitchen at a nice pace. The appetizers here all sounded so good, we had a difficult time deciding which ones to order. Ultimately, we settled on two -- the burrata and the savory cheese souffle. I thoroughly enjoyed the burrata appetizer. The grilled sourdough they serve with the dish is thick cut and stands up well to the creaminess of the burrata. The subtle sweetness from the fried shallot garnish is a welcomed addition and contrasts nicely with the char from the sourdough. The savory cheese souffle is rich, airy, and demonstrates a lot of technique. If you've never had a savory cheese souffle before, think of a Starbucks egg bite, but one that's 50x better in every way imaginable. Of all the dishes I had a chance to try out, the steak frites was the star of the show. The steak was cooked perfectly. I loved how tender the shallot demi-glace coated beef was, and tarragon aioli on the side were a perfect pairing for both the steak and the shoestring fries. Whether or not you choose to participate in the Restaurant Week specials, Saltbreaker offers a wonderful dining experience that's well worthy of a date-night.

Yelp
The cocktails are fantastic here, so is the steak. I'd recommend for great takes on American food. The tuna was just okay and did not include enough pieces to be worth the price. Ambiance at the bar is good, the bartenders know how to keep a great you engaged in the food/drinks without being overbearing. Overall I'd visit again, even though I don't live in Alameda.

Yelp
Much needed update. Not sure what changed but during restaurant week we hit this place a few times and even after restaurant week was over. So what has changed from my first review. Well you can actually get there driving on a paved street instead of dirt construction zones. It seems the wine list has been updated along with the menu. The Trout Rillette is still on the menu which is excellent. Also the cheese souffle and pasta is incredible. And I'm not a pasta guy. The drinks are great and periodically they have a special cocktail on the menu. The service is great and above that when you walk in without a reservation they really work at fitting you in. If we stay on the island this is one of the top spots. I would like them to open earlier and stay open later. I think the demand is there.

Yelp
Perfect for a special occasion and also a casual cozy evening. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this locket restaurant! We love this restaurant, the food is delicious, the cocktails are stellar, the service friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy and beautiful. We've tried the majority of their menu over many visits with various group sizes. We're happy for them and sad for ourselves that it's gotten much harder to walk in and score a table. Don't sleep on their specials... they're always amazing. We've had the trout app, focaccia, several variations of the daily crudo, market salad, Caesar salad (so good), burger (one of the better burgers I've had), pork belly sando, steak (I don't like tarragon and I still love this steak), chicken, variety of their fresh pastas, and several of their veggie sides (don't miss the potato gratin). The dessert menu doesn't wow like the rest of the menu for me, it's almost amazing but not quite if that makes sense? Cocktails are also stellar. So happy to have this gem in Alameda. Go Salt Breaker!!!

Yelp
Went here with a friend recently, and the food was great! We walked in without a reservation shortly before 6PM, and luckily we were able to get a table. The hostess recommended that in the future after 6PM, to get make reservations since they do fill up quickly. My friend and I both ordered the steak with fries, and the broccolini. The service was great, and our waiter was able to explain the items on the menu and helped us select our choices. I forgot what drink I ordered, but it was refreshing and tasty as well. The ambiance was also very cozy, clean, and cute. I would definitely recommend to have date nights here! I would definitely come back here next time, but would make reservations in advance.

Yelp
A nice dinner spot with great service and a friendly staff. The highlights were definitely the focaccia and the smash burger. Here's what we ordered: * Focaccia ($10): Served with butter and roasted garlic * Fresh Made Pasta ($25): Tossed in nduja tomato sauce * Smash Burger ($26) * Pork Belly Sando ($24) * Oranges and Cream Boozy ($15) * Cheesecake ($13)

Yelp
We used to live in Chicago, where we learned to appreciate great steaks. We came to celebrate a birthday and the steak was amazing according to the birthday boy. I have the clam chowder and I rarely tasted one that good. We also ordered the pork belly Sando and a Smashburger. Everyone was extremely happy. The service was outstanding from the moment we came in. The vibe is relaxed and comfortable. This part of Alameda has a very unique feel. We would definitely come back here.

Yelp
The front of the restaurant was hard to find. It's tucked in between the warehouses next to Humble Sea but is separate from it. The interior was light-filled and modern. It's a nicer restaurant than the surrounding breweries for celebrations and date nights. They have a private backroom you can rent as well. The drinks were delicious - I particularly liked the Peanut Butter Old Fashioned (Four Roses, Vanilla, Cacao Angostura Bitters). Someone else ordered a Freezer Martini which was basically a really cold martini. The food was upscale bar food. We ordered the smoked trout rillette and burrata with olive tapenade. Service was great even though we were in the backroom. They made sure to check in on us and was able to get us in and out in 45 minutes in time for another event. Definitely make reservations in advance!

Yelp
Saltbreaker is my NEW ALL-TIME FAVORITE IN THE BAY AREA. From welcoming us into the beautiful restaurant to the exploding fresh flavors. I loved the chicken thighs and the pesto pasta the best. The princess cake was amazing also. The burrata was delicious as well. And the Caesar salad tasted so fresh. I loved my sugar cane root beer and the Scarlett looked delicious as well! The service was excellent and the interior design was impeccable. Loved the sultry music as well, that was a nice touch h. Thank you Saltbreaker for making my first experience simply wonderful.

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday evening with friends and made a reservation ahead of time just in case. Staff and Service: - I'm glad we made the reservation. When we arrived at 6pm for the reservation, the restaurant wasn't crowded, but it did fill up soon after - Our waitress, Cecilia, was fantastic. She was knowledgeable with her recommendations, brought really good energy to the restaurant and our table, was pleasant to talk to, and was quick to help us when we asked for refills / more sauce Food and drinks: - Hatch grilled chicken: grilled chicken sandwich with hatch chiles - this dish was tasty. The chipotle aioli was different than your standard chipotle aioli, but it was still good. You can choose salad or fries as your side. - Steak and frites: comes with tarragon aioli and is a good portion for one person Miscellaneous: - Parking is available via a parking lot outside of the restaurant - There is a cute bar inside as well with good aesthetics - Good for large groups (saw a group of ~14 when we were there) and smaller groups

Yelp
Went to Saltbreaker to restaurant week. We sat at the bar, and bartenders did a good job with the service, although they forgot to tell us about the specials. The ambience was lovely, sophisticated without being pretentious. We got the restaurant week pre-fix menu, and the cheese soufflé and pork belly sandwich from regular menu. I really liked the salad and dessert. The cheese soufflé was also yummy, it reminded me of Pão de queijo, the Brazilian cheese bread. I thought the pork belly was fine. The sauce was good, but it had very little meat. And the uni pasta was also underwhelming for me, but my husband actually enjoyed it. My first two bites of the pasta was really firm, but the rest of the noodles were cooked nicely and al dente. I'd definitely come back!

Yelp
Dinner! So, our friends invited us to dinner. They suggested Saltbreaker in Alameda and we met them there on a Friday night. There's plenty of parking out front but you have to ignore the Restricted Parking Signs that say a permit is required. I parked in the area south of the restaurant which was probably parking for the building next door. Whatever. The place was hopping when we walked in. Staff and customers were all apparently smiling which is always a good sign. We took our seats, ordered drinks and perused the menu. We also looked at the specials board which offered one app, one entree, one dessert and one beverage. There's one photo below that is unlabeled because I can't remember what it was but I'm reasonably sure it was the Special Appetizer of the Day. Service was great. It was definitely a team effort. Ambiance was appropriate for a place with a full bar and lots of diners. The meal flow was excellent. Portions were not huge but sufficient for sharing. Pricing was reasonable. Flavors ran from good to excellent. There were no failures. I found the Crispy Potato Gratin to be particularly good. It looks like three simple blocks of potatoes, but the outside was super crispy and the inside, super fluffy. Add a little onion and chive cream to the bite and it's a winner! The Chicken Thighs and Salmon were also well prepared. This is a great place to have an after-work meal and just chill for a bit.

Yelp
Swung by for their $12 cocktail deal that's happening 02/1-02/2! Had a great time as usual. The highlight was the service. I got an espresso martini that was too strong for my liking so the server happily switched it out for me. I really appreciated her service and kindness! Downside is kitchen closes at 9PM on a Saturday so that was a bummer as I was hoping to get some food. Just an FYI!

Yelp
Came to Saltbreaker tonight on the recommendation of my son. Wow! First, super friendly people and great site. Easy parking. We came a bit early and glad we did (we had reservations) because the place was really popping. Seated in the side room which filled up fast but noise wise, it was fine. First, they have a fantastic NA drink menu as well as the hard stuff. We all opted for a NA cocktail and they were delicious. Check out the Sinners Salvation - so good! Next, hubby and I started with the focaccia bread which was delicious! Served with roasted garlic (still licking my fingers!). Our friends split a salad that was big enough to share between all 4 of us. Main: 3 of us had the Steak Frites - perfection! Exactly medium rare and the frites were very nice. Came with a tasty aioli too. Hubby had the chicken thighs were were thick, moist and delicious. No dessert as we were quite full. Service was excellent - thank you Emily for doing such a great job! We don't get over to Alameda very often, but this place will give us a reason to come. We will be back!

Yelp
Service - 4 Food - 4.5 Ambiance - 5 - What a hidden gem. It's intimate with limited seating so reservations are recommended. There's bar seating and booth seating, but they seem to accommodate approx. 45 people. Love this concept so that it's not super crowded. They play great music and the staff is great, friendly and welcoming. - Overall the food is tasty, fresh, and comes in sizable portions. You won't be disappointed. Highlights: - The deviled eggs are something special. The bacon jam, fried onions and flaked sea salt.... Just wow. - The SB burger... wow! The patty itself was flavorful, Smokey and overall seasoned very well. There was pickled fennel that gave some acidity, the white cheddar and dijonaise provided a smooth creamy finish. The brioche bun was soft and held the burger together nicely. IMO- best burger I've had in the bay, hands down. - Drinks are all great!

Yelp
I was here last with 2 friends and we were celebrating a birthday. It was a great time - food was great. We sat at the bar, and were still able to carry a good conversation and were attended to even better than if we were seated at a table or booth. I hope to find a reason to be back soon.

**Visit: 12.29.2023** My cousin and I visited prior to NYE... it was raining and it was a nice mellow vibe coming into the restaurant. We managed to catch the last few minutes of HH so of course, we made it count. Due to time (my bad) I forgot what we ordered but will share the photos in here for reference. I did remember ordering Lolo's Wish (we asked the owner if its Filipino and he said no it's about his daughter so we explained what it was in our culture). The drink itself was super strong... definitely well worth trying it out. Our server found out that we were celebrating my cousin's birthday so she gave us complimentary champagne on the house. That was a nice touch! We ordered the burrata (it was good, but I wished it came with more bread), Ora King Salmon for me (it was light and good, perfect size) and my cousin had the fresh made pasta with chicken (she said it was a lot of portion for her but she liked it, ended up taking it home!) It's a nice addition to the restaurants around the island. I would recommend making a reservation due to the size of the restaurant and the buzz around it. Will definitely visit again...

Yelp
This spot is super cute and had a great menu. The service was fast and friendly. The steak frites were absolutely delicious. They had a decent sized bar and some unique cocktails.

Yelp
It's a semi-fine modern set American restaurant with cosy and relax atmosphere. Service was really good from the reservation till the end with welcoming and accommodating attitude. Food was tasty and fresh. I'd for sure be back for both burger and chicken sandwich! Didn't much like the Oysters and the lemon tart tbh! Cocktails were not like sugary juices in many places and with real alcohol! Ask for specials for the day or night! Plenty of parking available.

Yelp
5 stars for atmosphere, decor, service and cocktails 2 stars for food. My husband got a pork belly sando, it had more fat than meat, and it was overly dripping in pepper jelly which made it too sweet. He's not a picky eater at all and he couldn't even finish half of it. It shouldn't be labeled as a "Sando" there was no sense of Japanese flavoring or vibe. It was more of an American style burger if anything. I got the smoked trout rillette which was pretty good except I was constantly picking out little fish bones. And after the 5th bone I was kind of over it. Wanted to like this place but maybe the mid day menu just isn't for us. But I don't think I'll be trying it again.

Yelp
First off let me just say this place is a hidden gem in alameda! I didn't even know this area existed! My husband and I randomly came here because it popped up on my Yelp page so we decided to try it out! It's so delicious! The food is great quality and for the prices it's even better! The service was really good we didn't have a reservation but they were kind enough to accommodate us. Next time I'll make a reservation. We say at the bar which wasn't bad honestly and we had Mike as our server/bartender. He was friendly but once things got busy he couldn't be very attentive so the other staff jumped in to help out which was nice. The place is small and big at the same time. Hard to explain but truthfully it has a good feel to it. We will be back soon with friends!

Yelp
First time here since we had a giftcard. It's right next to Firebrand Bakery. This seems like a go to place for the 30-50yo crowd to get a drink and dinner. It's got Portland-esque vibes like the old Tasty and Sons. 1. For the steak frites, the steak was well-cooked but under-seasoned, the same for the fries-could just use a touch more salt. For $33, the amount of steak was a bit scant. 2. The Trout was chunky and well-seasoned, tasted like good quality seafood like that from the Oregon coast. The toast paired well with the trout. The crème fraiche was a nice finishing touch. 3. The pesto pasta was creamy yet lightly rich. This would be a good vegetarian option. For 3 of us, with the steak frites, two pasta dishes and an appetizer it was just over $100. Overall, for all the hype, the food was underwhelming. It's an option to consider if you're meeting friends at around Point for a drink, but definitely on the pricier side. We probably won't be back.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Thursday around 5pm for a few drinks and a small bite. The restaurant wasn't too busy but it is on the smaller side, we didn't have a reservation and were able to be seated right away but I definitely recommend making a reservation if you can( especially on a weekend night). The staff was friendly and the food came out very quickly. We had a few cocktails that were really tasty and shared a few apps and the special which was the seafood gumbo. Everything tasted great and we will definitely be back as we just had a friend move to the area!

Yelp
Such a fantastic little spot on the tip of the Alameda island. Very close to Faction brewing and literally next door to the new Humble Sea branch. Came here without a reservation and sat at the bar on Easter. Had a wonderful experience with the atmosphere, service, and food. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
My friends and I had a wonderful experience dining at Saltbreaker. Our second time after 1.5 years and the food and service is great. We started off our meal with their nonalcoholic beverages (orange and cream and a grapefruit rosemary lime). Shortly after our appetizers (baked feta, hamachi crudo and smoke trout) arrived. My group of four then split two of their special double burgers. We then ended the night with all four of their desserts which was definitely the cherry on top of a wonderful dinner at Saltbreaker. Make sure to make your reservation on Resy to secure your next dinner!

Yelp
Has an amazing birthday dinner on a busy Saturday night. First, they confirmed who the birthday boy was-my stepson, even though we were early we were seated immediately and a glass of the bubbly was served to the birthday boy. Small plates were wonderful. Vegetarian options are possible plus the wait staff was excellent. Drinks very tasty. Mains were good - not as excellent as the small plates. And the deserts wonderful. Same room for the chocolate bar! My stepson loved the cheesecake birthday plate.

Yelp
This place can be kind of hard to find at night, but it's behind the breweries. Plenty of parking too. Very cute earthy ambiance - dim lights, greenery, and wooden tables with rustic brown menus. We were celebrating my birthday and they surprised be twice! A small glass of champagne and a candle with my dessert, made my dining experience that much special. The pork belly special was amazing! Crispy and flavorful. The homemade focaccia with the soft butter was amazing. I appreciate that it was soft butter too! The pasta was filling and the steak was cooked perfectly. Everything looked and tasted pretty. Can't wait to come here again either for a night out or special occasion.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch on Saturday. They have happy hr from 3:30- 5ish. The fancy fries were good, the smash burger was a little on the greasy side, but it was good. For cocktails I had an expresso martini & lychee martini they were ok. Server was super sweet , it was pretty chill when we arrived so that was awesome because it can get a little crowded. It's a cute space Overall, it was a good experience.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to try Saltbreaker's trout appetizer and their Steak Frites + a couple of their N/A Cocktails for dinner and had a fantastic meal. The trout appetizer was akin to a fresh dip that was amazing with the garlic crostini's they served it with, I nearly licked the bowl clean at my seat!!! The Steak Frites were good not great,, I would definitely go try them again but while my steak was cooked to the perfect temp, there seemed to be not a lot of it due to it being sliced so thin. As I said, will definitely be back to try it again because the service was attentive, the drinks were a knockout for being Non-Alcoholic and the appetizer was to die for. Additionally, the ambience here is just amazing!

Yelp
Food five stars Service five stars Ambience is beyond five stars. If you happen to sit at the bar, Joey was great whipping up some amazing cocktails. We'll definitely be coming back. Great job team salt breaker!

Yelp
What a treat! We went back to Saltbreaker and enjoyed the burger happy hour deal. For under $20 you get a delicious meal. This is one of the best burgers in Alameda. Now this place is buried deep on the old Navy base. You don't just happen on it, you have to be destined for it. So use your phone to navigate you there with a few extra minutes to spare. Parking is easy once you arrive. You will also want to try the Salmon Crudo. Delish!!!

Yelp
Came here for the tail end of their happy hour. The decor is very cute and it is ideal for a date night or to grab some drinks. They had a unique cocktail list and everything sounded tasty - I went with Lolo's Wish and ended up getting a second. To eat, I tried the trout rillette and the crispy eggplant burger. The trout rillette definitely stole the show - absolutely delicious and such a great app. I'm definitely making it for my next dinner party! I'm not a huge fan of eggplant, but I'm a pescetarian and didn't have too many options so I went with it. It was a lot better than expected - usually eggplant is all mushy/soggy but somehow they managed to keep it crispy. It was good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Sadly, I had to take off a star for the dessert. We ordered the special, which was a puff pastry apple dessert (sounds delicious, right!?). It was super underwhelming. I split it with my boyfriend and at the same time we both said 'where's the apple?!'. There was barely any filling and there didn't seem to be any actual apple pieces (it was almost like an apple butter?!). It was about 2 bites each - super disappointing for $12!

Yelp
Our friend celebrated her bday at saltbreaker. This restaurant is a hidden gem in Alameda by the seaplane ferry. It's pretty hidden to look like other bars. The menu was curated trying out one of each item. The pesto pasta was homemade, organic pesto. The apps and entrees are to die for!! The drinks are delicious as well, I opted for a plain rose. We had at least 8-9 course meals at night. It was family style to share entrees and sides.

Yelp
I had no idea this gem was here in Alameda. The space is cute and to me a bit unexpected. We sat at the bar and the bartender was nice and informative. We got the focaccia, cheddar gougeres, steak frites, and the broccolini. The steak was cooked just right to medium rare, and I really liked the broccolini. It seemed that there were a lot of regulars, which to me was a good sign. The peanut butter old fashioned was yummy.
