The Best Pupusas In NYC

"Salvatoria is a go-to for Salvadoran food in Astoria, but is most well-known for their variety of pupusas, which range from traditional fillings to more playful options. Amongst the 18 different versions on the menu are the more standard queso y frijol (cheese and bean) and espinaca (spinach). But if you’re looking for something different, there’s the “Pupusaroni” with cheese and pepperoni and the “Pupusa Loca” with shrimp, chicken, cheese, chicharrón, and beans. All served with spicy tomato salsa and curtido." - marisel salazar

Salvatoria Kitchen & Bar Review - Astoria - New York - The Infatuation

"Salvatoria is a restaurant with a super lively bar scene, and it's a go-to spot for Salvadoran food in Astoria. Mostly, they're known for their variety of pupusas. Amongst the 18 options on the menu are the more standard queso y frijol and espinaca—but if you're looking for something different, try the Pupusaroni with cheese and pepperoni or the Pupusa Loca with shrimp, chicken, cheese, chicharrón, and beans. We’re also big fans of the sausage and plantain breakfast. (Get crema on the side.) It's perfect as a quick weekday breakfast or as a brunch dish on the weekend when you can stop by with a big group and order homemade sangria for the table." - Neha Talreja

Came here for some pupusas on a Sunday afternoon and I was not disappointed. There’s many options and I had the chicharrón one which was very yummy! The frozen margaritas were also very good and the service was great!

This place I know for 8 years this is a place of the best environment but today I teaching my son that the food is the best because he likes to taste different food he use to eat beans and rice and grill chicken but today he try the boms cheese because he like to eat cheese and he love it. Drink are my favorite but when I’m alone with no kids lol😜

Google
First time trying such different variations of pupusas. I got the steak and shrimp one. I loved it. Definitely amazing! Also got their iced coffee. They didn't really offer any flavors but still were great. The location is pretty nice and the staff is very attentive. Would definitely stop by again!

Google
Huge pupusas that aren't greasy at all. Their sopa de mondongo was absolutely incredible, best I've had outside of El Salvador. Pretty outdoor area and helpful employees that look happy to help.

The food was good! However the service was horrible, The waiters that work there they act like teenagers. Rude, I’m So disappointing..

I live in the neighborhood from this restaurant. I been here before and knowing that the Pupusas are just ok, I went again today thinking that maybe today the Pupusas Revuelta were going to be better.... so I gave it another shot. Husband and I asked for the Pupusas Revueltas and the Picadera. 1 Marañon juice and 2 Margaritas. Once I opened all my 3 pupusas they were all runny. They are mixing too much water with the pupusa's mix, which is cheese, fried beans and pork. Making the pupusas tasteless more like plain tortillas. I also asked for more curtido because we had 2 orders of pupusas and the server brough curtido for one order. They have no shame, and charged $3 extra dollars for the curtido. ( Curtido is the coleslaw) I asked the server if they had happy hour, because we were there around 3:15pm and the waiter said no. I said ok, but I see here you have margarita flavors if I could try a flavor before I buy, the server said no we don't do that. The negative vibe here omg! So I told server is fine I will just order a Marañon juice. I saw the server from my table get a plastic container full of juice like milk gallon container and pour the juice into a glass full of ice. No wonder there was no flavor on the Marañon juice. More ice than juice. My husband asked for the margarita. Although they do put enough alcohol you can clearly see the frozen ice white, margaritas are tasteless. This business, has been empty the two times I been here. I wonder why? Never going back there. There are plenty of restaurants with better service, bbetter food.

I’ve been here more times then I can count and I love it here so much! The owner is such a sweet and beautiful women and the staff is always friendly! Great place to come for drinks and great Salvadorian food. I love the pupusas and could eat like 5 of them as a meal! It’s also super close to the subway so it’s convenient for me to get to and there is a metered parking lot right next to the restaurant if you are driving.

Google
The owner Astrid and server Carlos were beyond kind and amazing. The food here is delicious and the bathrooms are clean too. Prices are fair and reasonable. I highly recommend coming here.

Yelp
This restaurant is amazing. The ingredients taste like they were just picked. Employees are remarkably friendly and recommended completely enjoyable meals. This spot shows charming character. You sense the management's dedication.

Yelp
Perhaps the only good that may come out of the world's most dangerous bromance will be growth in the U.S.'s Salvadorian community. After all, right now New York is severely lacking for quality pupusa options. Salvatoria is one of the few purveyors, with a full menu of varieties. My favorite was, as usual, the queso con loroco, an edible flower, with a nice bit of caramelisation on the cheese that leaked out of the pancake. The zucchini variety was a bit plain for my taste. I didn't like the curtido - the success of a pupusa hinges on a nice acidity from the curtido to cut the cheesy heaviness, and this one was rather bland.

Yelp
I finally found a good Salvadorian restaurant in Queens. I feel like it's extremely hard to find a decent Salvadorian restaurant, but I did. I've had a couple of pupusas from other restaurants but I honestly feel this is the best. I'm Salvadorian myself so it gave me so much happiness & joy. I've had a couple items from the menu sadly I didn't take a picture of everything. One of the best things besides the food was the awesome staff. They were so respectful and fun to talk to, it's a very good atmosphere when you get along with the staff. There was a big group that came in shortly after and just made the atmosphere even better. So now let's talk about the items I had. Starting off with two, not one but two dirty horchata drinks. And if you had horchata before you know how good it is. But also if you never had a horchata this would be an awesome place to experience your first one. I had two different dirty horchatas on my visit, one with whiskey and one with rum. I personally preferred the whiskey one only cause I am whiskey person myself. The rum one was just as good I never had dirty horchata before and I was so happy I was able to experience it. I had a couple of pupusas I had two of pork and two of mixed one with beans and cheese. They were all so good I definitely wish I tried other items of the menu which I didn't sadly but I definitely will go back. Last but not least, my favorite thing off the menu was the bulldog Margarita. All I can say is wow the drink was fantastic they had different flavors of margarita. They all come with a corona in them this and only got the mango margarita flavor. It somebody is looking for a good Salvadorian restaurant or want to eat pupusas for the first time please I highly recommend this spot. I find it's one of the best places you can eat if you want to experience Salvadorian food.

Yelp
Had this place bookmarked since April, thought it looked interesting.I came here for an amazing anniversary lunch this past Friday. For starters the staff was very polite. You Can tell they were a fun bunch. Our waitress was this awesome Colombian woman with amazing long hair! I wanted to sit in the booth that had the felt blue couch. The place was empty and it was 3:30pm. We had came in at a really good time. I had the papusa bomb, steamed yuca and lettuce with tomato salad. My partner in crime had 4 different papusas with these awesomely huge drinks. ::BATHROOM ALERT:: YES! YES! YES! Super clean bathroom. I loved their little corner seat. They have gender neutral bathrooms and a woman's bathroom. The women's bathroom i went into had a baby changing station. Our waitress was super nice we made small talk here and there. The bartender that kept my partners drinks coming, is a very funny person he was cracking jokes. I didn't get his name but he loved bringing over the drinks. For the dirty Horchata get it with whiskey, not rum. Get the mango bulldog drink! Trust me! Now on to the Tip, it's 18% automatically included but we double tipped because of the service. The prices were really good for this location. I would recommend coming for happy hour as well. Make sure you read your bill before going.

Yelp
Casual Salvadoran restaurant and bar. We came on a cool fall night and they already had the restaurant as well as the enclosed outdoor dining space at a comfortably warm temperature. I was intrigued by both the horchata and the frozen drink machine filled with a passionfruit margarita. I couldn't make up my mind, so '¿porque no los dos?'. The horchata was darker and more brown than I've seen before; nevertheless, it was sweet and creamy as I had hoped. The frozen margarita was good too. I might have balked at it if the restaurant wasn't so comfortably warm. Food wise, we started with a few pupusas. We had the pupusa bomb. It's a rounded pupusa loaded with mozzarella. I'm not a traditional pupusa, but it's one the well leave any cheese love (both adult or child) quite satisfied. It's like the pudgy, Salvadoran cousin of a mozzarella stick. The other two pupusas had the traditional flat shape that I anticipated. One was filled with cheese and zucchini. The other was filled with a variety of items. Truthfully, I couldn't discern the ingredients in the variety pupusa and was probably better off just ordering the cheese and bean one. For the main course, we shared a platter with thinly sliced and marinated beef, similarly prepared chicken, and grilled shrimp. All good but the dish was on the pricey side for the portions and cuts. Service was friendly and attentive. There's a couple TVs. Two single occupancy restrooms; one appeared to be handicap accessible.

Yelp
I'm giving them a good review because I love their Pupusas. However I don't have anything to compare them to. To me they're delicious but my friend who is from El Salvador said they're just okay. So I recommend to judge for yourself because the rest of us who had them that evening really liked them. Good price and great food. The server was nice and took constructive criticism from my friend well. (Sorry btw) overall I recommend. It's a cute spot with strong drinks and filling food that tastes good. Four stars because i haven't tried the rest of the menu

Yelp
This place was a vibe for me and my Latina friends. I enjoyed the music, it was all Spanish and some of my favorite songs came on. The food was appetizing and priced perfectly! Especially for the pupusas, since there were great portion size. The drinks were good as well. I would definitely come back here! We were a group of 6 and our bill was perfect for our group size.

Yelp
My mom introduced me to this place as she would come here with her friends every Friday. I then started coming by frequently because the food was just chef kiss! Until one day my mom said one of the waitresses gave her and her friends an attitude. She no longer went and therefore I didn't either. After a while, I decided to return over the weekend because I missed the food. Customer service was pretty great! I noticed the staff were entirely male this time around. Food was okay, there were some pieces of meat in the picada that was chewy. There was paid parking behind the restaurant which was great so we didn't have to spend time liking for it. We also got seated immediately. :)

Yelp
Went to this place on a Saturday night with 4 other friends. We walked in and were accommodated right away regardless of our "big" group considering the size of the restaurant with a walk in policy. The servers were very attentive. The food was great. I've never had Salvadoran before, so this is my first time. One of my friends is from El Salvadoran and he had nothing but great things to say from the elotes (sooo good) to the pupusas (also really really good). One pupusa was enough to make you feel full in my opinion but most of the table ordered three each and ate it all. The food tasted fresh and the flavor was amazing. Definitely recommend if you plan on trying a Salvadoran place.

Yelp
Love love this place. Their popusas are delicious the yuca frita con chicharon was excellent. Been here so many times and it's always amazing. The restaurant itself is very cozy and clean. They also play great music too and service has always been great.

Denise D.

Yelp
Don't bother improving will never go back there. We have been going there for years we went in today there was no one in the restaurant, but two people sitting at a table for four. There was one table for two in the entire restaurant set up so we sat down at a table for four . again there was no one in the restaurant . we were told that we would have to take a table for two . we nicely said no because the restaurant restaurant and the enclosed patio area were totally empty. Why couldn't we sit at a table for four and he insisted and so we told him that we would have to leave because of his attitude and he said OK.

Yelp
Woh hey guys! So I was on a short vaca in NY. I'm staying at the LG hotel 15 minutes away driving. On this night I wanted papusas badly. One place I wanted to go had me driving around for like an hour trying to find parking. After doing that for sometime I was frustrated. So I got back on yelp and was like this is my last try to find dinner before I head back and . I found it! I Order a drink right away to help with my frustration. Next was yuca con Chicharrón and Pupusas can't wait Definitely excited to eat. Quick update I did get the food and it was great. One thing for me is Cortito. I need a lot of it when I eat my pupusas. I needed more then what they served but I still loved it.
google avatar

Steph W.

Yelp
Ordered this to-go. We ordered a large Picadas. The pieces of meat were all pretty decently seasoned but incredibly dry. The best tasting was chicharron pieces. Perhaps we waited to long from pick-up to actually eating but the pupusas were soggy and the insides were meh.

Yelp
I loved this spot! Perfect for families, group dinners, and even a date night! Food: I can't even begin to start with how good the food is! We ordered so many papusa and they were all so delicious. The jalapeño and cheese papusa was my favorite! The papusa bomb is essentially a giant mozzarella stick with way more cheese that oozes out! The chicken and cheese papusa, the beans and cheese, and spinach and cheese papusa were all so delicious! For the mains we ordered the pollo gallina sandwich, which is a chicken stew sandwich that comes with soup! It was so amazing, the chicken is so well flavored and I especially lived the bread that hero it was in! The soup was also very good and perfect for a rainy day! The papusa combination was great as well, it came with two papusas, rice, beans, sausage, and plantains which were all so good. The papusas also came with pickled cabbage which was also so great Drinks: they have a great cocktail menu and a nice bar! The sangrita - a combination of sangria and margarita was incredible Ambience: there is so much seating, outdoor, indoor and outdoor-indoor seating! Loved the vibe of the place Service: incredible service Price: very reasonably priced especially given how full you will be!

Yelp
Wonderful ambiance and top tier service! The pupusas are absolutely the star of the menu and you can't go wrong with any of them, they are hot, savory and delicious! My one unfortunate gripe is that the rest of the food items didn't live up to expectations. I ordered the clam and shrimp ceviche and seafood soup under their specialties menu. The soup was flashy in presentation but lacking substance and difficult to eat with a small shelled crab. There was just one clam in the entire soup and really not much else other than a poached egg and a couple pieces of shrimp. The broth was great, but it cost a lot (about $30) and I was expecting more seafood. The ceviche was mostly tomato and onion and also not much seafood. Will give it another try at some point, but I recommend sticking to pupusas and drinks, which were phenomenal! Highly recommend this place for authentic Salvadoran food, but would stick to the more popular items recommended.

Yelp
I LOVED this place. It's got great food, good service, and is SUPER close to public transit. There's nothing not to love! After having a craving for Latin food, my friend and I travelled from Brooklyn all the way to Salvatoria Kitchen & Bar in Astoria for a few pupusas. We came in on a weekday at around ~4-5pm and we were greeted and sat right away. It was a warm, sunny day so we opted for outside seating. This place is very cute and aesthetic. I tried two types of pupusas: revuelta (chicharron, frijoles, queso) and chicharron (w/ queso). The pupusas were perfectly crispy, and with just the right amount of filling (they were NOT stingy). I thought the pupusas had good flavor. I wasn't too impressed with their salsa roja, and their curtido was just okay, but I didn't mind that given that the pupusas tasted good alone (sign of a truly good pupusa). The agua de granadia was a little too sweet for my taste, but given that we were offered water, I didn't seem to mind. It was also a good balance with the savory-ness of the pupusas. The prices here are UNBEATABLE. Pupusas priced at $3.50 each, and (non-alcoholic) drinks at $6.00. You can get a nice, filling meal on a budget. Perfect for stopping buy for a quick lunch or dinner, on your own, with a friend, or with a partner. Our server was attentive but also gave us our space. He spoke to us in Spanish (which I didn't mind, since I am a native speaker), and he made us feel at home. Would 10000% come back here if/when I am in town.

Nancy

Yelp
usually come to this place for pupusas and always enjoy them, but today I decided to order takeout, and I was so disappointed. I ordered 10 pupusas, but they were mostly just dough with barely any filling inside. When I opened them, I found only a tiny smudge of mush instead of the cheese and chicharrón I was expecting. I couldn't even taste the cheese or chicharrón it was just dough. I was really looking forward to them, especially since I'm pregnant and craving pupusas, but unfortunately, they didn't satisfy my craving at all. Very disappointing!

Yelp
A very small place. So small you can all together miss it if you walk around Astoria and not pay attention. We went in for late lunch. Circa 3pm. It wasn't busy. We were met by a staff member who told us we could only sit outside (in the sidewalk enclosure) in spite of vacancies in the main body of the establishment. I thought this person had some sort of an attitude, but decided to not let that bother me and settled for the tiny table "outside". We ordered two entrees, two appetizers and drinks. As I figured, the table was way too small to accommodate. The food was about average. I didn't appreciate the choice of cut they selected for their carne salteada (too lean). The seafood soup tasted a bit too salty IMO, and I feel $30+ for what they put in it was a bit over the top. $4 CC fee (I dunno how that was calculated based on a $137 bill) and 20% service fee. On the plus side. Our "busboy" was very courteous and friendly. I hope he gets a good portion of what we were charged.
google avatar

Christine Y.

Yelp
Food was 8.2/10. Giving 4 stars with benefit of doubt. Things that weren't so good during dinner : - THE RESTUARANT AUTOMATICALLY CHARGES 20% GRATUITY ON THE BILL. IT DIDNT GIVE US A CHOICE AND THEN HAS OPTION TO PUT MORE TIPS. PLEASE LOOK AT RECEIPT WHEN SIGNING!!! - out of ALL the 6 latin American beers, they were OUT of 4 of them (incl the salvadoran ones). Ended up trying the imperial one (Costa rican) - the pupusa bomb option was very salty. Not sure what makes it unique from the other ones since it's the same ingredients. It was a MISS - the fillings for pepperoni and Chicarron were not that evident. Like minced so much I couldn't really tell how much filling was in there the place wasn't bad. Service was good. Food was good comfort. The 20% mandatory gratuity rubbed me the wrong way so this is really a 3.5 star rounded up. I will note though I've been to a few salvadoran spots and there are better ones that have more substantial fillings in them then the ones I've had here but they are good here for astoria Would go to college pt or woodside for better

Yelp
We walked in on a Thursday night and although some tables were occupied it wasn't too busy. We had just gotten back from El Salvador and were craving pupusas so that was what we ordered. I got one with pork and one with beans. We got them made with rice flour instead of corn. They were delicious and big in size. The filling was plenty and very tasty, no lack of seasoning. The outside was hot and crispy. The curtido was also very good and made the perfect topping. They had live karaoke which added a fun spin to the ambiance. Staff was also very friendly and attentive. We got fried yucca to start which was also very good. It was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Overall we had a great time and cant wait to be back.

Yelp
i'm a major pupusa lover so i had to check this place out ! i left full and satisfied they offered many different varieties of pupusas & traditional el salvadorian dishes. also, the drink menu had plenty options for all. indoor and heated outdoor seating along with very friendly staff.
google avatar

Yelp
*** 4.5 stars *** Pupusas! Wow. Inexpensive ($3.50 each) and delicious, with very friendly service. Honestly I was full after just two pupasas. Make sure to get the Revuelta (Tortilla filled w/cheese, refried beans & Pork). The tortilla was the perfect thickness and consistency to balance the beans and pork. This is their most popular item, and for good reason. The chicken tamale was also great, but the star of the show here is the pupusa.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
The revuelta pupusas omg! Definitely delicious and so worth it. Washed it down with the piña mezcal cocktail, which was delightful and refreshing. Also tried the ceviche de camaron - this was just okay. Felt like the shrimp was too.. cooked? Almost to the point that it got tough. Didn't really have that fresh ceviche taste to it. But my bad, will just stick to their pupusas for next time.
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
The place looks nice, they have outdoor dining as well. I ordered the Honduran chicken which was a huge portion. I would have liked if the dish had rice instead of only plantain chips. It had too much sauce so it's not really edible afterwards if you decide to take it home. My friend liked the pupusas. I asked the waiter to take my food home and he only gave me the container. I proceeded to ask him for a bag and he rolled his eyes, which was totally unnecessary. On top of that, they charge a credit card fee and tip is already included. I dislike the fact that this is not listed in their menu or advertised around the restaurant, and the waiters don't mention this. Transparency is important and it's unfair for customers to find out at the very end.
google avatar

Yelp
Staff is kind and welcoming, excellent customer service. Decir is modern, stylish. Had outdoor and indoor seating. Affordable menu options. Food is amazing.

Yelp
Loveeeee Salvatoria! We have been coming here for years and I'm sorry I am only now getting around to review them. Perhaps it's because I gained so much weight during the pandemic by eating here. Couple times a week! The food here is THAT good! The drinks are as well! Some of my favorite are the Pupusa Loca and high has shrimp, pork, chicken, cheese and beans...Yumm! The nachos supreme and chicken wings are also great starters. The entrees do not disappoint at all, the especial margarita, ceviche mixto and típico 3 (no high has carne asada, rice and beans, plantains and eggs) is some of our favorites! Oh and you can't forget the elote and esquites. Wash it down with one of their delicious margaritas, micheladas or if your up for it one of their bulldogs which is huge! The service is always friendly and on point...I can't wait for our next visit...I'm hungry just thinking about it!

Wynona B.

Yelp
Thanks to a misleading check that suggests adding gratuity at the bottom even though gratuity was apparently already included on the bill...we ended up accidentally tipping 40% (20% twice) and paid an extra % in credit card fees on top of the tipped total and I didn't know until after the fact when I saw a shared pic of the bill this morning. I hate places that aren't upfront about their fees/checks. If you eat here make sure you read your check carefully & bring cash if you don't want to be up-charged even though they don't advertise as a cash place.

Yelp
I liked this place ! I came here on a chilly Friday night with my mom. It was very cozy inside and the atmosphere felt great. The waiter was friendly. For appetizers, my mom and I ordered the Tostones con Guacamole and a Tamal de Pollo to share. Both appetizers were very delicious. For my main course, I ordered myself the Pupusa Combination with 2 pupusas, rice, refried beans, sausage, and sweet plantains with sour cream. The pupusas also come with a spicy cabbage slaw and a sauce. Overall I really enjoyed the flavors. Everything was served hot and tasted very fresh. The cheese in the pupusas was a tad bit salty, but I still enjoyed them. Great portions come with your meal. I was left feeling full at the end so I took some food home to eat for the next day. Prices are fair. Looking forward to coming back here so I could try more on the menu ! Would recommend :)

Yelp
Love their pupusa revuleta. Much needed addition to the neighborhood. Nice clean restaurant would recommend.

Yelp
Zero tolerance. don't go eat here. Bad costumer service! It's a shame because the food and ambiance its alright though. Don't recommend it due to the lack of costumer service specially the guy by the bar.

Yelp
Came here for hubby's birthday since it had great reviews of salvadorean food. This place did not dissapoint. This has been the best salvi food I've had that is not home cooked. Ambiance was really good too. The only down side is food takes a while to come out.
google avatar

Sergio J.

Yelp
Food was excellent, really enjoyed the pupusa bomb and revuelta. However, service could've been a lot better.

Ching H.

Yelp
My Salvadoran friend drove me here for Salvadoran food. I've had years of Salvadoran food so I'm not new to this. Restaurant and restroom appears to be clean and outside dining decor was not bad. Menu prices was higher than I expected so I really expected a good meal and good service. We had ordered the following: Small Horchata- 8 oz watered down $4 Frozen margarita -8 oz nothing special $14 Small picada- delicious $13 worth it 3 pupusas- ok $15 (menu price $4 each) Veggie fajita- bland $26 (same price as a pechuga salteada) 2 sweet empanadas- eh I had better $10 So after the taxes, 20% mandatory tip, and 4% credit card fee, I was slapped with a grand total of $108 and change. The service was slow and it's not even packed at all on Sunday afternoon. So if you have the time and money to waste for bland overpriced food, this is for you. We know about the credit card fee from reviews but we didn't know they add the tip on the bill until we saw it ourselves. It's no wonder the service is slow. The waiter doesn't have to try to earn his tip and he can upcharge pupusas and the fajitas to increase his tip. Definitely our last time. This kind of restaurant practice leaves a very bad impression.

Yelp
This restaurant does not have private parking, however there is a parking lot right next to it with metered parking, and theres street parking if you are lucky to find it. The restaurant is small but had a lot of character. With the pandemic they also have a little bit of outdoor sitting right in front of it. But they do allow inside dinning. Our group sat in the back of the restaurant and our waiter was real nice. He got us our drinks pretty nice and quick and gave us plenty of time to chose our meals. COCONUT MARGARITA- it looked pretty nice and I got it with a spicy salt on the rim, I must say it looked pretty nice but it was a bit too strong. the cheap tequila overpowered the coconut taste but I managed to finish the drink. COCONUT MOJITO- I decided to move on to a mojito but also it was pretty strong, so I must say this is a perfect place is you want to come in and get pretty buzzed out of 2 drinks, overall I was ok with the mojito rather than the margarita as I prefer rum over tequila but that is a matter of preference. PUPURSA REVUELTA- this was a pretty good choice, it does not come with rice and beans but the price is great and it tasted pretty amazing! this was a perfect choice and the size is good for one person, for sure if you are bit hungrier than normal 2 of these and you are all set! BALEADAS- These look like crepes, and they have some eggs and other things inside, these are also perfect and super affordable! if you get only these it is more than enough for one person as an entree or 2 people for an appetizer! these were pretty good and I would definitely have them again. Overall we had a great time, the place respected the pandemic social distancing guidelines and the wait staff was wearing masks. they were pretty good at service and super friendly. The food was pretty nice and very filling, above all delicious. This is a pretty nice place specially if you like ur drinks strong!

Yelp
Ok to preface this review: my boyfriend and I were having an abysmal staycation at a nearby hotel. But then... Salvatoria put a pina colada and some salty, juicy bang for your buck Surf n Turf in front of me. My boyfriend just returned from Costa Rica & said the easy going vibe outdoors, music, and beer brought him back to that peaceful vacation mindset. Do with that knowledge what you will lol. Notably, they've got a big ole Progress Pride flag hanging proudly, which I appreciate :) The steak was incredibly tender! Slightly over cooked so be wary of that (maybe order rarer than you normally would). My boyfriend orders medium well & his steak was much chewier/drier (but still good honestly). Mine was medium rare, but came out closer to medium/well (but still so juicy!). I have literal TMJ "I chew like I'm 84 when I'm actually 24" jaw problems but was able to eat this steak like a champ. Get the rice & beans with this so you can temper down the saltiness of the steak though! Shrimp was nice and charred, but a bit over cooked. Pupusas were excellent, I'm wishing I got some to freeze at home or something because I am SO hungry right now remembering this meal. We got calamari as well which was probably the only thing I wouldn't order again, it was chewy/doesn't seem to be their specialty. Salvatoria... open up in Brooklyn soon please, I am on my KNEES.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I randomly came across this restaurant and I'm so happy we did! Never heard or noticed this place and it's absolutely delicious! Everything is great about here between the music, service, food, prices and overall ambience. We got fried yucca, surf and Turf (steak with shrimp, rice, beans), and grilled chicken with fried egg, rice and beans. Definitely want to come back and try more dishes!

Yelp
I came for the pupusas and stayed for karaoke! Everything I ate (tostones with guac and a few varieties of pupusas) was absolutely delicious. It was a Thursday, so they happened to be doing karaoke when I arrived. The host has a gorgeous voice but it's very low-key and friendly. Would highly, highly recommend!

Yelp
So, take this review with a grain of salt. I've never had pupusas before or any Salvadorian food! The pupusas came very warm and the cheese inside was nicely gooey, and was accompanied by purple cabbage slaw (with a slight kick to it) along with plain tomato sauce. I guess I expected the pupusas to be flavorful but pretty much all the flavor came from adding the slaw and tomato sauce. We got the shrimp pupusa, revuelta, and carne - so quite a variety. The desserts were simply not good in my opinion. We got the flan, neugados (fried yucca in sugar syrup) and empanada (fried plantain with 'creamy milk' inside). The flan was very thick without much flavor or sweetness, while the neugados was too sweet in a cloying way. The empanada was not sweet at all and the 'creamy milk' was tasteless. I will say that the prices were very good and cheap, but perhaps I'll go with a Salvadorian friend next time to make sure I'm not misjudging the food if I ever go back.

Yelp
My friends and I wanted Pupusas and tried this spot. We were amazed by their food and their pupusas were so good. It was so good that we went twice in a matter of one week. I will definitely recommend this place. The ambiance is calm and it is also affordable. And the drinks are amazing as well!

Yelp
Chose this place when looking for dinner options for my sister who has a lot of dietary restrictions (since it seemed easy to identify dairy & gluten free items). We were pleasantly surprised by the cocktail menu & really impressed by how fresh the drinks tasted; nothing tasted like a pre-made sour mix or store bought syrup. We ordered 1 generously sized revuelta pupusa, enchilada Salvadoreña, bistec encebollado, maduros, & steamed yuca. The food was delicious, perfect portions for sharing & seemed to be prepared w/ care (in particular, we felt like the maduros were appropriately ripe/sweet and thankfully not sitting in a pool of grease which is often the case with sweet plantains). Our servers were attentive & friendly. They were patient when we couldn't make up our mind (too many appealing options) & offered recommendations to help us. I appreciated that we didn't have to wait for our designated/assigned waiter; anyone working who walked by was checking in on how we were doing & confirming we were enjoying our meal. I was not a fan of their music selection (sort of dancy house/mixed with some latin). The volume seemed too loud on the inside, but reasonable in the outdoor enclosed dining area. I'll be back for sure!!!

Yelp
This place is a gem! I've ordered takeout from here twice now and pretty satisfied both times. Pupusa Combination - I'll probably order this dish every time lol. Love that you can pick and choose and it's just such a comforting meal. So far I've tried the Chicharron, queso chicharron, queso hongos (mushroom), and queso spinach pupusas. The plain chicharon was a bit dry so will opt for the cheese pupusas only next time. Skirt Steak - My BF really enjoyed this dish. Ordered this with a side of rice & beans and maduros. Though this was supposed to come with a side of rice so not sure if that was missing? Nonetheless, super yummy. Salchipapas - One of my guilty pleasure dishes and this one did not disappoint! Crunch fries and love the pink sauce it came with. Yuca Frita Con Chicharron - Unfortunately this one wasn't a hit. The fried yucca was pretty good but the chicarron was really dry. All in all, the food here is solid and comforting and definitely one of my go-to's for some elite Latin grub!

Yelp
Definitely a place I would visit again. The strawberry Basil mule was delicious. The pupusa revuelta queso and chicharrón ( cheese and pork) were good. The steak asada was season and cooked to our asking. The service was nice and the ambiance was inviting.

Yelp
Since their open, I've been a fan! Pupusas, drinks, service, & the vibes here are CHEF'S KISS They're very friendly & offer solid choices if you're indecisive like me:) A wide range of Salvadorian + Mexican food, although they're advertised as Salvadorian lol. More options & easy substitutes readily available for almost everything on the menu. They used to have live mariachi so truly a great place to host a medium large group! 10/10

Yelp
I have been having a hankering for some pupusa's! So I made my way to Salvatoria at 12pm on a beautiful sunday. It was empty and I got seated right away. They have a pretty good brunch selection with $20 brunch for 1 hour. I tried the mixed pupusa and the fried pork/yucca. The pupusa was yummy and light. The fried pork was also tasty but a little dry. The atmosphere was chill and the waiter was very nice. I would come back! Stay hungry, Carolina G.

Yelp
I looooove this place! Took me way to long to discover it. Their chicken tamales are amazing! That dish is more than enough reason to go. Also, their micheladas are perfect. I am a michelada connoisseur, it's my go-to drink whenever I see it on the menu. This place nails it! Perfectly spicy and limey, the cherry on top is that the beer glass is chilled. The red snapper was great, very flavorful. I let my friend try it and she loved it as well. She said her rumchata was ok. Definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
Very very fresh and the pupusas are so good here. I ordered four pupusas and they were all spot on, especially the Revuelta and Pupusa Loca. The pupusas were served with a side of curtido and tomato sauce. I really liked the curtido, which is a Salvadoran cabbage relish... it went really well with the pupusas. Revuelta - it came with cheese, refried beans, and pork. It was really good. I would recommend. Pupusa Loca - it came with cheese, shrimp, brisket, pork rinds, and beans. This one was really good. It's like a party in the mouth. Definitely something I would order again. Queso con carne - this was a pupusa with cheese and flank steak. It's very very simple and good. It's great if you want to go light. Queso con camarones - this was actually a customized Pupusa with cheese and shrimp. It's good and light. Overall, super filling and the staff were all very friendly. The place is medium in size with good vibes and decent amounts of indoor and outdoor seating, but expect them to be filled up pretty quick during busy hours. Will definitely be back to try their other dishes and drinks.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. The Famosa beers were nice and cold for our meal. I had the steak and he had the pupusas platter. All delicious! As a Guatemalan I appreciated the Central American hospitality (especially with the Famosas aka Gallo's!).

Yelp
Our server Edison was great attentive and gave really good suggestions. We will definitely be going back. You won't regret it folks
